Just wrote a long message on the old thread only to have it not post because we'd filled it.

We really ought to do less chatting and more sleeping Wink

S doesn't point. Should she be pointing by now?! She's 13 months tomorrow.

More snow here overnight. We have a good few inches. S still has a stinking cold so we have another day indoors. Hoping it clears up by the weekend as we are visiting PIL's up in Durham.

I'm jealous of the cake makers. I am on a diet and have no reason to bake but DP got me an amazing stand mixer for Christmas and I want to use it all the time Grin

TobyLerone · 21/01/2015 10:32

M has only just started to point in the last couple of weeks.

Use your stand mixer for bread, felix. I use mine all the time.

O has been pointing for ages, can't even remember when she started now. But I'm not sure when babies are meant to do things. I'm just not worrying about it, as there are things O does before other babies I know, and things she does a while later. I think they just do things at their own pace.

alteredimages · 21/01/2015 11:17

I wouldn't worry too much about it felix. From what you say about S on here she sounds great! Smile

TobyLerone · 21/01/2015 16:04

Quite, nature. I'm the same.

Thanks, it just freaked me out a bit as everyone was on about it the other day too then I panicked and realised she doesn't point.

Toby I have a dough hook! I'll have a go at making some. I'm notoriously crap at baking bread whereas I'm rather good at other bakes (blowing own trumpet as its my only talent Grin)

Naturegirl82 · 21/01/2015 16:28

Felix I honestly wouldn't worry. I bet there are things S can do that other babies here can't, it's just not come up in conversation so you don't realise Smile

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 21/01/2015 19:41

felix, what nature said! Alex was a v early walker, but is showing no signs of talking, and only started pointing a few weeks ago. They can't be perfect, these babies! Plus, e.g. if they crawl/bum shuffle, the motivation to talk is greater, as they can't get/get to what they want, whereas, if they can walk, why bother asking or pointing, when it's quicker to fetch it yourself? Grin

TobyLerone · 21/01/2015 21:06

And M has no interest in walking, it seems, but says a fair few words.

One thing that going to baby groups has taught me is that they really are all different and develop at very different rates.

Humpty Grin

Thanks everyone. It's stressful this child rearing malarkey isn't it?

Toby the two groups I've been to around here are weird. In one she's the oldest by a good few months and the other she's the youngest by far. I don't have anyone else to compare to apart from you lot! S isn't interested in walking either. She did use a whole lime as a telephone earlier though, so swings and roundabouts Grin

AMillionNameChangesLater · 22/01/2015 06:39

Henry doesn't walk, he can when holding onto something, but not interested otherwise. I only saw him crawl properly for the first time last week. Dh said he'd been doing it a while though.
Ds1s new bed came. It's lovely, big tho. He still came into our bed last night, scumbag. But I have hopes he won't tonight.
My presentation went ok. I think it went well in all honesty. I should find out today or tomorrow if they want me next week for an interview. The main criticism it could be is that I made them laugh too much. I also told one of the interviewers (my old manager from way back when) off for giggling. So maybe not serious enough. Who knows!

I'll have a read of the thread later and message back when I'm avoiding work

Swannykazoo · 22/01/2015 08:45

Its weird isn't it. H has crawled and surfed for ages, but seemed to have no interest in walking - it was all drop and crawl. Tottering has come on to walking in the last fortnight. Loads of noise, but only Dadada, Da(all purpose word for yes, no, that one, no mummy your phone) and Mamamama which we hear v rarely which is for milk (as I just get scrummaged for boobs)
Properly poorly baby home from nursery yesterday and DH not working from home today. Am really hoping the magic boobs won't be required until I've done my days work...

MrsGSR · 22/01/2015 10:07

I'm glad to hear it's not just L who isn't talking. I keep worrying about it.

She was one on Tuesday, we had a party for her the Saturday before as DH is away this week. I wasn't brave enough to do a frozen cake, she had a carrot cake in the shape of a '1'.

Can't believe how fast this year has gone. I hope everyone else had/has a good birthday :)

Naturegirl82 · 22/01/2015 10:12

This time last year I felt my first twinge of labour Smile

FelixFelix · 22/01/2015 10:15

MrsG I love carrot cake. I have been craving it all week Grin

Sunshineseeker80 · 22/01/2015 11:38

Just a quickie - felix (and others) Emily can't walk (although she can cruise along furniture, looking for things she shouldn't habe) or talk (although she can yell like a trooper) or point. I got very worried about pointing last week but am over it now I know others still aren't there. My mothers group (NCT equivalent) have babies that are 8-9 months old as I joined a friends rather than strangers of the same age. shes very advanced compared to them which makes me feel ok on a day to day basis Grin

I think I've mentioned before that her skill is eating. She could eat most of you under the table, let alone your little ones CakeBiscuitBlush

She can also turn the TV on and off via the sky box. Repeatedly.

alteredimages · 22/01/2015 11:51

Mmmmm carrot cake. Smile

Glad Emily is doing well sunshine. She sounds like a really lovely baby. I think I prefer eating as a specialist skill to hair pulling and bin raking, which seem to be N's. Confused

I don't mean to go on about N but he spent a good 3 months just cruising. He also doesn't talk, though he does shout, and it is only in the last week he has said mama or pointed. He turned one just over three weeks ago. 4 year old DD still won't sleep in her own bloody bed.

Naturegirl82 · 23/01/2015 07:44

Random bad night with O last night. Think she may have had tummy ache, or she was just far too excited about her birthday today she couldn't sleep. Grin

Off to the Dr's this morning to have her hips checked then going to the zoo later as long as the weather is ok Smile

I passed the first stage and now I have an interview next week. The head of department really wants me, so unless I tank, it should be mine.

Last night I was taken to A&E in an ambulance because I had a massive asthma attack. Turns out what I thought was a bad case of trapped wind all day, was the asthma attack. So from about 9am until I got there at 8pm I was having an asthma attack. All my inhalers were out of date (something which wasn’t picked up at my recent asthma check) My meds have been adjusted and I should be ok. As strange as it sounds, it wasn’t the asthma attack which was the worst. It was once I got home and I couldn’t get warm. The heating was on 25, I was fully clothed with a jumper on, and I was freezing. Every time I took a breath it hurt because my lungs had been struggling all day and were exhausted.

I cried loads and DH had to undress me and help put me to bed. It was awful. I ended up having to sleep sitting upright all night and it still hurts to breath now. DH is pissed because I’ve come into work this morning – only until 12 – because I need to have experience with the department they want me to work in before next Wednesday’s interview. I’ve done very little at the moment and my boss picked me up and will be taking me home. I wish I hadn’t come in, the woman sitting next to me is wearing perfume and it’s affecting my lungs.

This is a very woe is me post, sorry!

Million that sounds really really traumatic. I have asthma too and I know what you mean about being completely spent after an attack. I hope you are feeling better soon. Flowers

But it is great news about the interview! Good luck for next week.

FelixFelix · 23/01/2015 09:39

Nature happy birthday to O!

Million that sounds awful and quite scary. I hope you don't feel too bad today. It's a shame you couldn't rearrange your work for today Sad

alteredimages · 23/01/2015 09:42

Happy birthday O! Cake

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 23/01/2015 09:54

Happy Birthday O! Hope you have a truly splendid birthday.

million you poor love. That's so horrid. Only two hours till you can go home and rest, totally get needing to have the right experience for the interview - good luck!

BookTart · 23/01/2015 10:03

million that all sounds horrible. I hope you get so,e rest this aftenoon.

Happy birthday O, enjoy the zoo!

TobyLerone · 23/01/2015 10:10

million, I sympathise. They can't have done a very good job of looking after you if your medication doses were so low that your inhalers had time to expire.
And the part after an asthma attack is awful. Exhausted and everything hurts. Poor you.

Happy birthday, O!
