Think i have my period Confused

ohthegoats · 22/11/2014 12:02

Oh no stigz - I think I'm building up for mine too though.

Kirstipops · 22/11/2014 12:15

Yeah I'm having discharge type stuff like my period will resume in the not too distant future...

sazzlehopes · 22/11/2014 12:46

Oh no the dreaded period. I'd almost forgotten about that arriving back...

Cloth nappies are more environmentally friendly. Yes of course if you tumble dry a lot it isn't great, but the materials now a days are soooo good they dry overnight. A regular 2 washes a week isn't the same carbon footprint as a factory churning out disposable nappies. And I'm afraid most of that research is often based on people that buy biodegradable nappies which come from more environmentally friendly factories that reuse water and have a greener ethos. I'm sorry but if you buy any of the main big brands you will not be environmentally better. They use chemicals, and plastic etc to make the nappies....you are kidding yourself otherwise. This being said though I want to point out in no way am I having a go at people that use disposable. Out of friends that have had kids only 3 have used reusable? Maybe 20 use disposable. It is their choice what they do, for reasons of ease or they don't get on with cloth or whatever... I just don't think people should kid themselves that disposable is in any way an environmental choice when you know your baby will use approx 5000 nappies and they will take hundreds of years to dispose of in a landfill site. There is many baby related things I know nothing about. Reusable nappies though I've done my research!!!

goats that's so strange you should write that about going from EDD. My DD is 4 weeks today but adjusted she's 6 weeks. I'm convinced she's going through a growth spurt as she just fussed and flailed her arms and legs around at feeds and in-between from 10pm-5am last night. It would be much more convenient if she clusterfed in the day! Especially annoyed as OH snored all the way through and complained loudly when I woke him to ask him to turn the bedside lamp off. So loudly he woke her up after I'd spent hours getting her to sleep. I dreamt I ran him over when I finally slept!

fatpony · 22/11/2014 14:08

Oh god, am at the in laws for the weekend. Only been here 2.5 hrs and FIL has already asked twice is he feeding again. YEEEESSSSSSSSSSS, I've already patiently explained about the six week spurt.

Those following wonder weeks have you got the book or app? Does the app go into enough detail?

sazzlehopes · 22/11/2014 14:14

I've got the book fatpony but not the app. Tempted to get the app and see what it's like so I can check it more easily and then read more detail from the book if I need... If I do get it I can let you know what the differences are unless anyone else can help

STIGZ · 22/11/2014 15:12

Yip deffo period i think, its getting heavier and think the pinky stuff i have been getting must have been the start of it ... Great timing Hmm off out tonight for first night out with my best friend, och well whats another week when i have practically done 6 ?

Me23 · 22/11/2014 15:36

I went to the hairdresser today had some pampering was first time away from v and my boobs couldn't cope I leaked through my clothes luckily as I had apron thing on no one noticied!

I downloaded the wonder weeks app and it doesn't seem right for us as it says v not due next leap for 10 days but she's already doing all the stuff next leap consists of. Even yesterday at 6 week check gp said she was more like an 8 week old than 6. The app doesn't go into a lot of detail so book may be better?

I'm so tired today v was so noisy in her sleep last night it kept me awake. I'm looking forward to bedtime.

Smooshie85 · 22/11/2014 15:48

Lol fatpony I know exactly what you mean, if I hear another "he's feeding again?" Exclamation I will blow my top! Lol * rant over

Kirstipops · 22/11/2014 16:07

Yeah me23 H is ahead of the Wonder Weeks app as well, even going by her due date. I think it was goats who remarked that sling mums and pram mums stick together? - well I think I'll have to go further afield as nobody locally but me seems to wear their babies! I love it, I reckon in most cases I'd choose the sling over pram, the one time I took H out in her pram I got annoyed with the amount of stairs I hadn't realised were in my area!

bumpbangbump · 22/11/2014 16:41

Most of the mums I hang out with do a bit of both. I like the pram as I can load it up with more than just the baby. I like the sling as dd loves to be in it and sleeps really well against my chest.

Who was it said they were off out tonight? Well us too! Ds is of to pil's and dd is of to dm. Only for the evening but I can't wait!

YellowWellies · 22/11/2014 17:02

Sazzle sorry yes reusable nappies are greener overall (as you say, especially in terms of resource use and waste) but when we did a full life cycle assessment I was surprised that in terms of water consumption and carbon footprint disposables had a lower impact than certainly cotton reusables unless you line dry or they're washed in a commercial laundry. I work in climate change science / carbon management so have biiiiiig personal carbon guilt trips (I don't drive, limit flying, only use renewable electricity at home) so for me I tend to focus on carbon but I've no misapprehension that disposables are better overall for the environment!

Captainmcgraw · 22/11/2014 17:04

Thanks CJ, I'm loving the Connectababy. I do have a Moby but I find it quite faffy so have lent it to a friend. Yes he's been diagnosed with reflux, is on ranitidine which has improved things somewhat

YellowWellies · 22/11/2014 17:06

I do sling AND pushchair at the same time as its much easier than the double buggy or pushing a single and keeping the toddler out of the traffic. I haven't carried shopping bags in over 18 months - it'll be a shock to be buggyless when they both are walking.

fatpony · 22/11/2014 17:35

Guys what is the six week check you talk about? On Monday I have my six week check up but didn't realise they examine the baby too???

Thanks for wonder weeks comments...my local libraries don't have the book and hesitant to buy it as about 12 pounds I think.

pebble82 · 22/11/2014 17:48

How do you buggy people shop with one? I can't fit any bags in the tray of the buggy as well as change bag and raincover. Can't hook any on the handle as its all one all the way round handle if you know what I mean.

On an unrelated but amusing note I just answered the door with my boob just swinging free! How embarrassing!!

YellowWellies · 22/11/2014 17:51

Pebble buy some buggy clips from my buggy buddy (I think?) they are like karabiners which allow you to hang bags off a buggy with a single handlebar. I have three and can carry tonnes!

ohthegoats · 22/11/2014 18:08

I don't like the pushchair and nor does she - perfect! The mums I hang out with all carry, so we're fine for walking across fields etc.

Been out with the boba 4g today - decided it's too big for me. Fits 6ft boyfriend perfectly though. So I need a rethink, I'm not comfy walking for more than an hour or so with her in a sling, especially a stretchy one. Maybe I need a woven sling until she's bigger. Not enough support on my hips.

Missus2ndwife · 22/11/2014 18:53

I plan on doing both sling and pram depending on journey. My caboo arrived today and seems very easy and comfortable. I can't wait to get the bubba in it and off for walk.

Re Wonder Weeks - I bought the kindle for tablet version which cost about £3 vs the actual book - if that helps.

ExcitedCJ · 22/11/2014 19:14

Goats have a look at the Connecta Baby Carrier website. I love my Connecta, it is a soft structured buckle carrier that is as close to a stretchy or woven wrap as you might get. Very comfy as straps cross over the back. Either that or try a Mei Tai if you want a bit more structure without the whole woven wrapping experience or finally a wrap conversion. Sling library is the way to go.
Oh Captain I am so sorry to hear about the reflux, it really is a tough station. I feel for you, I remember being terrified to go out when my DD was suffering at her worst.
Losec is definitely the medication that knocks it for 6.

ohthegoats · 22/11/2014 19:55

I've had a ring sling from the sling library in the last 2 eeeks, but didn't like it that much. Borrowed a manduca from a friend this week and quite like it - adjustable at the front which makes it a better fit for me. We're ebaying right now.

Happytimes31 · 22/11/2014 19:58

Anyone going for the ergo 360 or is it not worth the extra money for forward facing?

ExcitedCJ · 22/11/2014 20:07

Goats also look out for a Lillebaby carrier. They are getting rave reviews.
My friend has a Manduca & loves it.

ohthegoats · 22/11/2014 20:14

I quite like the idea of forward facing for when she's older. Today she was awake and straining to see out.
