strawberry made me lol. I have had several of those moments. I swear baby equipment is made for people who aren't as tired as us!

A little advice please ladies. DS is doing really well, gaining weight, wet and dirty nappies etc so no worries on that score. When he is feeding underarm (with piles of pillows under him) he will feed for anything between 10 and 45 mins. When he is across body ( generally when we are out) he won't feed for more than 20 mins. Any thoughts?

Strawberryfield12 · 24/12/2014 22:08

cat I still haven't got around the bottle sterilisation technology in the kitchen corner. All hopes on DH... I find instructions too complicated vs when somebody shows in life what to do

weeonion · 24/12/2014 22:51

Hey folks - happy Xmas eve. Hope yours has been mellow.

i am home in Ireland with family. Loving it. Eldest DD is being indulged and youngest DD is being adored.
it is a family tradition that santa leaves off new pyjamas on xmas eve. DD1 v v v excited tonight when their jammies arrived. She had regularly checked for them outside, to no avail. One time, her and I were out looking when we heard sleigh bells overhead. She was excited, enchanted but also a bit apprehensive. From somewhere in the sky (aka her uncles upstairs bedroom window ) these 3 parcels landed right in front of us, complete with a dysting of snow - the largest nearly whacking me on the head. She was stunned but totally convinced and loved her new pjs. Aaah the magic and memories!

hope Santa gives our wee ones and us a peaceful night and that you all have a good day tomorrow.. Happy Xmas. X

MusicAndBooks · 24/12/2014 23:11

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas with your new little ones! Xmas Smile
After a day and evening of constant feeding, green poos, lots of wind and being unsettled I'm hoping tomoro will be better.
lady you're so right, feel like I'm in a baby-fog this year with Xmas and hoping to feel fresher tomoro for DS1 excitement and DS2 is happier!

Well that was a total bloody nightmare

Went to DPs parents for traditional Swedish dinner as we do every year, all going well though their spaniel was giving me some cause for concern, couple of growls etc. Anyway he got shut away so we could get DD out of her car seat, she nodded off on Dp so put her back in her car seat so we could have dinner. Halfway through dps sister ( 30 and married btw) starts having little digs at dp because the dogs shut away And therefore crying ( which he does all the time because they don't walk him so he's constantly wound up) then pulls a bloody cracker just after I said could we not till she's awake and everyone agreed, then it was ' can you not put the baby up high and let the dog out' DP starts getting annoyed... Then she said ' I don't see why you had to bring DD anyway!' Oh we will just leave her at 16 days old, at home for a couple of hours shall we!

You can guess the level of argument that followed, dp is so protective over his little Girl, he had tears in his eyes and just lost the plot at his sister. Then he grabbed dd and we left. Feel awful for his mum though, she worked so hard to make a lovely dinner :(

utopian99 · 25/12/2014 03:28

ark that's awful of dp's sister! And what an idiot at 30 to think you could casually (or would even want to) leave dd at this age! Angry on your behalf. Hope dp's mum was okay too.

weeonion that sounds ace! I love that sort of thing. We have done stockings entirely for our own family of four this year. Last year was the last time my mum did them for all of us (dm, df, bro, dh and me - I still did O's.) It feels like a very grown up passing of the baton.

Happy Christmas to you, and the rest of the November 2014 families.

A self settled quite suddenly after a happy hour practicing his arms and legs while I did the stocking present wrapping.Obviously he has been up twice since then though.

ladydolly · 25/12/2014 06:25

ark christmas does seem to bring out the worst in families doesn't it??

babydolly seems to be enjoying xmas the way I normally do - snacking as often and as much as possible. Went down about 10 and woken every 1/1.5 hours for feeds which she hasn't done since about 4 days old. Now wide awake grunting trying to get a fart/poo out.

We're home just the 3 of us today, I couldn't be happier about that Smile

Have a wonderful xmas everyone!!!

TwigletFiend · 25/12/2014 06:26

Just popping in to wish all you ladies a merry Christmas Xmas Smile It has been a joy experiencing new motherhood with you all and your support and advice is invaluable. Have a wonderful day and give all your LOs a kiss from me and DD!

barmybunting · 25/12/2014 06:59

Merry Christmas ladies! I hope you all have a first wonderful Christmas with your new additions and other loved ones.

Strawberryfield12 · 25/12/2014 07:49

Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope you have a peaceful and happy day!

ToniWol · 25/12/2014 08:16

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have wonderful days. Have deduced that DD wakes at 5am due to her digestion wanting to kick stuff out. Which meant we only got 4 hours between feeds after Midnight Mass (although she did sleep through he service - little Angel).

Workfree - thanks for mentioning the Vasospasm. I have Raynauds and have been experiencing tingly pains in my nipples. Will have a look to see if it is the cold.

WorkFreeWannabe · 25/12/2014 08:26

Merry Christmas to all the November/December Mummies. I wasn't looking forward to Christmas because of the work/effort involved, but seeing Baby Wannabe's face this morning made it all worthwhile GrinEnvySmile

Annarose2014 · 25/12/2014 08:59

Happy christmas everyone! We are at my folks and they are so in love with their first grandchild that I think its going to be a nice one.

Thank goodness DS is tolerating the Moses basket - you forget how small your old bed is! And we had a great night here - went down at 12 & only fed at 4 - and barely woke for that.

ark as someone who just had to give away my first baby doggy, that makes my blood boil. People who don't have kids don't get the fundamental "babies come first" rule. Let me guess, she said it was totally unfair her dog had to be in another room?

My sister brought her ancient cat with her yesterday for Xmas. Its a pretty boring cat, literally ignores everyone and sleeps all day. Yesterday everyone was in raptures at the baby smiling, and then later she'd be in the exact same raptures cos the cat put its paws up to greet her! "Look at what she's doing with her paws! Look, look! Oh she's looking at the decorations. LOOOOOK!" Hmm

amy83firsttimer · 25/12/2014 10:30

Merry Christmas ladies. We are also enjoying our first as a family of three, no other family at all. Off to the local pub for a quick pint at 12 then we'll attempt to get a Christmas dinner on the table at some point today!

catg83 · 25/12/2014 12:39

ark what a muppet. I hope for your, your partner and little one's sake you don't have to deal with her today.

Merry Christmas everybody. Off to friends house for dinner. 6 adults and 4 kids. Should be fun. Weather is beautiful so a long walk may be in order after lunch to tire out the 2 very excited 3 year olds. x

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 25/12/2014 15:13

Happy Xmas all ds1 was up lots in night unwell husband dealt with but didn't get up til 8am he normally sleeps fine.

Baby ds2 slept ok 1-2hrs at a time which is better than every 20-30mins.

Has eventually been down for last hr for decent nap think over stimulated from Xmas excitement n fell asleep loads times today but wouldn't stay asleep.

Still working through present mountain.

Had our prawn salad starter as lunch at 1pm n dinner cooking now we have an organic chicken rather than Turkey n should be ready for 4pm.baby has fed loads today poss growth spurt n poss comfort from tired ness but has resulted in me being starving and haven't stopped eating all day (yes I have eaten two choc chip brioche, a full English brekkie, a whole tub Pringles, half box choc, a huge cupcake, prawn salad n buttered bread rolls n cannot wait for my dinner!!)

ladydolly · 25/12/2014 15:34

babydolly not happy, screamfest with breaks to feed once an hour. Won't sleep. Me and Dp had to take it in turns to eat xmas lunch while the other rocked her through her screams. She's now sleepfeeding and has been for good 45 minutes. Hopefully this will knock her out.

Took her for a walk in the pram earlier and not one miserable bastard I passed said hello or merry xmas!

To top it off I tried to have a wine, 1st in nearly a year and it turned my stomach like it did when I was pregnant. Gutted is not the word!

amy83firsttimer · 25/12/2014 15:43

Pub trip successful - had a pint in two halves, having glass of wine with lunch. Yay for Xmas!

Lunch will be at 4. Can't wait - starving!

Hope baby continues to be easy today and doesn't vomit! Oh how things change in a year!!!

ladydolly · 25/12/2014 15:54

oooh good game, how things have changed in a year...

Last year we flew to Miami and I had a $50 cocktail for dinner. This year I've walked round the block and ate my dinner in 4 minutes to the sound of screaming.

amy83firsttimer · 25/12/2014 15:56

Let's just say last Xmas was very naughty. This one much much much less so!

moggle · 25/12/2014 16:47

We're at my parents and it's great - mum can't get enough of doing nappy changes (!) and even gave DD a bottle of ebm when she woke at 7.30 so we got a couple of hours extra sleep in silence, amazing! We went to church with them, DD in her elf costume and all the old ladies were cooing over her pram, it was so sweet. Just been for a walk with her in the sling too so not feeling too fat and lazy!
Even a poo catastrophe couldn't ruin the mood - wipes werent touching this one so we put her in the kitchen sink for a bath!

Merry Christmas to all of you and your babies and other halves xxx

WorkFreeWannabe · 26/12/2014 01:55

Glad everyone had a really nice day.

Both mine and DH's family went round to my brothers so in total it was dinner for 9. Being the first grandchild on each side, everyone spent the day fussing over him in his Santa suit. The result was a very overtired baby who didn't want to go down after his 7pm feed. He eventually went down just after 9 which is when I finally got to scoff my lukewarm Christmas dinner. I was so hungry I didn't care it was cold but also so full up with wind I couldn't eat more than half

Just role up after a 2hour nap and stuffing my face with red velvet cake as I woke up ravenous. DH has kindly volunteered to do the next feed in about an hour so I can get some more sleep.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 26/12/2014 06:43

Since 1am we have had half hr sleep lots crying n latching on n off n before that only 2 lots 90mins sleep. Goes down in crib asleep wakes 10mins later snuffly n refluxing milk, pick up pukes n feed again n repeat.

Thank goodness for stocking Sat next to me just ate whole Xmas bar dairy milk as had eaten nighttime snacks of banana n a Cadbury brunch bar.

Annarose2014 · 26/12/2014 11:09

I've had a dairy-free Xmas! This means no choc, no cake, no biccies, no cream....not even any custard! I feel quite virtuous. I did fill up on wine though. Had about 3 glasses & got ridiculously tired. Such a lightweight.

I had a bad feeling about last night and sure enough I was feeding/rocking most of the night. No crying though, which helped. This morning he started looking for boob again at 7 after only about an hour since the last one & I almost cried but then when I looked in the Moses basket I was greeted with the biggest smile! It definately helps!

Anyone elses little one having seperation anxiety? DS gets on great with his Daddy, loads of smiles for him, but at least once a day will have a meltdown until he can be returned to me. Its stressful cos DH wants to give me a break, so I go have a shower or something and DS screams the whole time till I return. Sad Its shit for DH and its crap for me cos I'm rushing back which is no break at all.

ladydolly · 26/12/2014 19:18

Dd does have the odd few hours when only I will so yeah. Not often though.

My xmas was mostly dairy free, dp is allergic so everything I cook has to be. I gave up choc while bf because I had loads in one day and ds was a nightmare afterwards. This might be why I dreamt about bar after bar of dairy milk last night!

dp has a pedometer on his phone and it recorded over 4 miles of steps yesterday and he didn't even leave the flat!! That was hours if rocking a screaming baby!

Went to visit family today and bloody broke down 3 miles from home on the motorway!! Had to bundle me and dd up the embankment sharpish!! Very dramatic.

Hope everyone is chilling out with good tv and leftover turkey sandwiches :)
