amy that does sound frustrating.

annarose love breaking bad. Glad you are getting to finish it. It is taking me an age to watch anything as it is happening in 10 min spurts here and there.

So I was being super brave today and went along to the Breast is Best group at the sure start for a try feeding out the house and also some help with the agonising latch. No one was there! The midwife who runs it had been called to a home birth and no one else had come Sad . Going to try the baby group tomorrow morning to see if that is any better. Anyone else been to any groups etc?

moggle · 15/12/2014 15:16

Anna DD cries and moans in her sleep- it's so frustrating esp as she seems to do it most when I want to nap too and it always wakes me up. She'll do it at the start or end of a sleep. I've tried picking her up for a feed but she doesn't wake. Rarely lasts more than 30 secs but can repeat every 5 mins. Oh well it'll be something else next week...

Annarose2014 · 15/12/2014 16:08

Well as payment for my lovely calm day yesterday, DS has been grizzling and upset all day long. Looks like he's straining to pass a poo! But all the leg-cyclingin the world isn't making a difference.

Our Doggy is going today. We are trying to keep busy till the doorbell rings. But my head is splitting with the stress and grief of it all.

catg83 · 15/12/2014 16:21

ladydolly DS is happy napping in the carry cot on the buggy and a little bit of time (about 15 mins) on an activity mat.

amy83firsttimer · 15/12/2014 16:32

Cat I don't know if it's available everywhere but my HV said if I wanted some one-on-one bf support she'd arrange for someone to come to me.

I didn't take her up on the offer but I was happy to know the support is there should I decide I need it.
I've been to the breastfeeding group at my local surestart centre (v local, can pretty much see it from my house!) and it was nice. I plan on going again Wednesday now I've had more time to develop concerns!!!! First time I went was day 8 and I was still just ecstatic to be home.

ladydolly · 15/12/2014 17:55

amy same thing here, I try to remind myself its worth it for the long sleep... that was tough at 4am this morning when she hadn't been to sleep.yet.

TwigletFiend · 16/12/2014 01:58

Up the second time tonight already with DD, who is terribly windy again and just grizzles constantly the moment I put her down.

Think I might be doing a bit of grizzling myself before long!

Anna, hope all went smoothly with dog Flowers

ToniWol · 16/12/2014 04:16

I suspect DD is having a growth spurt. She woke up at 1.30 to feed and hasn't settled since. We're supposed to be going to the HV weighing session this morning. But that might change depending on the sleep I get.

MusicAndBooks · 16/12/2014 05:10

Thinking of you anna Flowers

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 16/12/2014 05:25

Think poor baby def has a cold fine feeding although short feeds but extremely snuffly when laying down then coughing n gagging on snot. I did put a damp muslin on radiator with couple drops karvol n have since moved that folded to top of crib - although it's not recommended for under 3mths.

Little sleep had here didn't go down til 11pm so no early eve sleep for me and has been up every hr or more feeds for 10mins n back asleep although just got 2x10mins by nappy change in middle currently asleep on me upright will transfer to crib n hope for another hour sleep that being my last as up at 7am to get ready for school with ds1 although husband does help. Got nativity at school this morning also.

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 16/12/2014 05:39

And we are up again :(

Day of tea choc n cake I think ahead

moggle · 16/12/2014 08:16

Quite excited today, we're off to baby cinema to watch the Hobbit!! DH is very jealous!

happypotamus · 16/12/2014 08:46

eastmids I sympathise with the snuffly full of cold baby. I have mostly slept sitting up holding her up for the last few nights, also with lots of little feeds. At least she hasn't got bronchiolitis yet. DD1 had that at 8 months and couldn't feed at all.

moggle that is exciting. They hadn't invented baby cinema near me when DD1 was a baby, and now I wouldn't be able to go because of her. Baby cinema day is not on a pre-school day. Have fun.

It's DD1's pre-school nativity today. I really hope DD2 will sleep or at least feed quietly so I can watch. DD1 cried because she didn't want to be in it though.

Yesterday I sat on my settee and did online Christmas shopping panic buying, grateful that I didn't have to fight through the city centre with a pram. Now I'm hoping it all arrives on time, and realising I need to stay at home for the next week so I don't miss the deliveries.

ladydolly · 16/12/2014 09:35

gahhh cs wound is oozing yellow. bugger. Docs later then and I'll have to walk. Surely I should have been out of the infection zone at 3 weeks post op. SO annoying!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 16/12/2014 10:36

That's not good lady dolly the last of my section scabs came off last week around 3weeks post section.

ladydolly · 16/12/2014 11:59

eastmids that's the stage I was hoping for! i went to the nurse last week because one end was weeping and she said a section was open but just to keep some gauze on it and it would be fine... obviously not!
Double bugger.

Annarose2014 · 16/12/2014 15:22

Bad luck ladydolly, very annoying indeed. You just want to leave the birth behind, don't you? My fanjo is still occasionally uncomfortable with scar tissue, 5 weeks today. My thoughts have started to turn to DTD - filthy mare that I am - but a bit scared yet.

The Dog Rescue lady was fab - she is going to aim for a placement with a farmer with other dogs. Doggy would enjoy that life. And she is not the type to pine for us. She'll be all excited out in the Kennels today. So we're doing ok, considering. It's been lovely being able to bring Baby out to our big comfy warm kitchen for the first time today - it was out of bounds before. The two of us are curled up beside the kitchen stove right now and Little Man is fast asleep. Lush.

Yesterday he slept all evening, then I gave him a feed around 10.30pm and he settled fairly easily again. Then he only woke up once during the night. I popped in earplugs to not be kept awake by his moaning and groaning in his sleep and so I had a good night. Fed between 3.30 am- 4am, and then a 7am feed.

I suspect this is a post-growth-spurt period of calmness. I don't bloody trust it! Hmm

amy83firsttimer · 16/12/2014 15:32

Annarose2014 he probably senses your more relaxed state now you're not worrying about the dog.

Just had M weighed and he's put on just over what I'd thought he would so he's 10lb now. Chubster!

I can't remember if I mentioned it yesterday but i thought he had thrush in his mouth and the HV agrees so we're just waiting for a callback from the GP. Ggggrrrrr.

ladydolly · 16/12/2014 16:48

I bet you're right amy you're happier and more relaxed anna, she'll definitely feel it.

Wound is infected. Antibiotics which could make babydolly more windy. (exactly what the parent of a colicky baby doesn't want to hear)

3 weeks and 3 days old, she's gone from 10.03 at birth to 11.01 now, I think my milk must be the chocolate frijj of the breastmilk world...

amy83firsttimer · 16/12/2014 17:31

Have you rang the drugs in breastfeeding helpline? They may know of a better ab for a bf mum.

amy83firsttimer · 16/12/2014 17:33

Drugs In Breastmilk helpline: 0844 412 4665

pinkgirlythoughts · 16/12/2014 17:36

Also thinking of DTD, Anna, and DS is 4 weeks 2 days (exactly a month today!). I know we attempted it with DS1 when he was 3 weeks, but there was no way I was ready that early this time- have told DH it might be his Christmas present Grin.

utopian99 · 16/12/2014 18:53

lady so sorry to hear about the infection, hope you're okay?
Ds1 saw me wearing A in one of the wraps I haven't used with him since about 14 months and got very excited about being wrapped too. I put him on for a minute as a jolly and now am really worried I've overdone it (only 4.5 weeks post section.) Argh...

anna glad it sounds like the rescue people have a good plan in place. We had to rehome our family dog when I was small as she kept jumping our increasingly high fences and getting up to the road where she nearly got run over so often my parents felt they had no choice. She went to a farm with other dogs and loved it; the new owners used to send us cards with photos and news, maybe you could ask?

amy83firsttimer · 16/12/2014 19:19

I have NHS-rage! HV said thrush, phone GP. This was about 3.00. Callback will be "shortly" - long story short I never even saw the GP, just about made it to them for 6.00 to collect prescription, pharmacy out of stock, DH now at big Asda in for a 40 min wait for the items. Gggrrr. Thanks. Sorry. Gggrrrrrrrrr.

Domino's pizza for us tonight!!

Thisisimpossible · 16/12/2014 20:49

My MW came today for her final visit and asked me if we'd thought about contraception yet. I laughed because there's no way it's going to happen with us for a bit because of the issues I've had post birth with it all. She told me about another of her ladies who'd gone to her 6 week appt with the GP complaining that she couldn't shift the baby weight despite BF and watching her diet.... and yes, you've guessed it, she was pregnant again!

She reckons you are super fertile after giving birth and that the whole 'you can't get pregnant whilst BF' is a myth. Actually I've had more than one midwife warn me about that. It's enough to make me ensure I'm careful! I'm struggling enough with one!
