UniSarah · 18/12/2006 20:57

climbing baby- scary. Boy still hasn't got teh hang of standing up and rolling still seems to be accidental. He has worked out how to go forward when he wants to, but only when he can get at teh TV remote by doing so!
He's back to normal again today apart from having heat rash! in December! its all over his nappy region, he was sooo hot yesterday we had him in nowt but nappy and vest, but still he gets heat rash. Ho hum, he'll get over it.
Christmas shopping done already! Not exactly, tho most of it is, just food and small bits and bobs that don;t matter if they don't happen.

munz · 19/12/2006 15:33

hey all just a quick stop in from me to wish everyone a merry xmas/new year.

J's on with the climbing the stairs as well! crawling - climbing just about anyhting he can do to stress me out! lol. he's started to like thomas, and also mr bean - naughty mummy sit's him with teh telly for 5 mins whilst I cook my porridge on a morning

eating's going brilliantly - we're doing BLW now, and he has everything we do - has a right little appitite on him now! lol. also cut another tooth on the top so we have 4 on top and 2 on the bottom now - he's figureed out the top ones are there now so he's started the chew a bit more using those teeth! lol. he's still not eating eggs but i'm not fussy about that.

just going into 9-12 clothes as well! lol. monster's 10 months on sat! it's really gone so quickly and i'm rather depressed by it all.

big congrats cheele on no 2 - hope to be joining you soon - althou prob not on the aug thread - hopefully sept/oct.

anyhow hope everyone's doing well, haven't read thru the messages. friz - if u get a minute debs is asking where the beanie buddies are in chat - would be a shame if we all lost contact after so long together, althou I think a fair few have dropped off now

laundrylover · 19/12/2006 22:15

Well, not only do I have this new MN layout to contend with but also just got IE7 to work out too....

Lovely to see people dropping by....
Chelle - congrats (I think!!). Must admit that we had a sneaky hats off session recently but not vomiting yet so reckon we got away with it!

Hi Munz...happy festive baby making then!

Friz - standing up???? erk! You may have guessed that Tilly and I have not round to getting creative and making gifts for your girls so maybe it might happen by the next meet up.....

Uni - Kiah has the same bug and puked buckets all over me at a xmas drinks party. Had to drive home wet, cold and stinky. I starved her yesterday and she did loads of yucky squits at 5am today....no food today either but will start again tomorrow. Hope boy is on the mend now. My kids are, like yours, cheap to run at Xmas....a picture from Age Concern, a blow up chair and a pack of tesco t shirts and knickers is about all i have to wrap.

Best go and do washing up and then write my last few cards....catch you again soon.

romilly · 19/12/2006 23:33

Happy Christmas everyone! so so SO sorry i dont get time to chat on here these days. I seem to only just cope with being a mum of one (how do people do 2/3/4???) but am loving every knackering beautiful moment of it. hope you all are too

miss you munzie and friz - is there a new beanie thread - i have searched and searched and cant find where you've all got to.....

laundrylover · 19/12/2006 23:48

Hey Rom happy xmas to you too!

OMG I have had an evening on the nappy threads and haven't done any pots or cards. Better go to bed before dp comes home from pub and then I can at least fake an early night as an excuse!!

Cadeauxmum · 20/12/2006 07:22

Merry Christmas everyone.

Welcome back Rom!

So...DH comes up the walk this morning with a package in his hands from Sugarbump asking me what I have ordered NOW...

Turns out that it is a package from Frizbe!

I am at a loss for words. Thank you so very, very much. It has more than brightened my day. I love Twizzlers so I have eaten them already before my bigger two even spotted them!

Charlie is the only member of our clan without any packages under the tree (I thought that I ought to recycle her a gift since she is the fourth baby and ought to have plenty to look at anyhow...) The mirror is beautiful. I really feel humbled and I don't know how to thank you enough.

The British Choccies will be such an amazing stocking stuffer as we all miss it very much! Thank you for thinking of us.

The worst part is that it should be me that is sending off packages this year because we are actually not struggling from month to month but I just really cannot cope with daily chores let alone the holidays.

My PIL land on our doorstep tomorrow afternoon and between ulcers and daily crying jags, I hope that most of the dread is over by the time their flight lands. I just really do not know how I am going to deal with two additional 'children' over the next three weeks. At least I adore the four that usually live here. I am trying to remain positive but my relationship with MIL is strained at best and we don't even have a TV to sit them in front of whilst I wait on them...

I overheard DS1 saying to DD1 yesterday: "Yeah, but Grandma hates mum so that is why she is not looking forward to their visit." GREAT! Let's hope he mentions that during their visit, shall we?!?!

Oh dear. I have written a sob-story of a novel. Please forgive me if you have read all of this. I am off to tackle the housework. DH is taking his parents to Budapest on the 2-4 of Jan so hopefully I will find a quiet moment to catch up with you lot.

I sure miss you!

Cadeauxmum · 20/12/2006 07:26

Just had a quick read and thought I should add that we are actually likely to renew DH's contract for at least a second year so at least I don't really have to worry about moving again too soon. (The house is leased for 3 years so maybe we will even do a third.)

catj · 20/12/2006 09:48

Merry Christmas!
Can I sneak back in and rejoin you? Seren is finally home from hospital . She's not doing too badly considering what she's been through & spent a lot of time flat out.

She's only just had her first tooth come through but is managing to try most foods anyway. She can roll over (still not keen on being on her front though) and is almost able to sit up on her own-if she didn't wriggle so much she would have mastered it by now! She loves watching her sisters running around so hopefully that will motivate her.
We discovered she loves the taste of Milton so we have to keep a constant supply of dummies in the steriliser for those moments when nothing else will do!

Must go-the twins have gone upstairs and it's too quiet for my liking!
Catch you soon.
Cat

Cadeauxmum · 20/12/2006 10:06

A BIG Welcome back to you Catj!

I am so pleased to read Seren is safe at home with you.

Our DD only has one tooth as well and would much rather be toted about than sit on her own anyhow!! I am sure that Seren will be running after her big sisters in no time and you will remember fondly the days where she would stay where you had placed her.

It is great to read that she is doing much better after what must have been a very challenging year for her and your family. Merry Christmas and roll on a happy, healthy 2007.

UniSarah · 20/12/2006 12:12

Hello all, happy christmas to those popping by after a a break.

Friz- your a love, its lovely. must have driven teh postman balmy tho. was singing when I opened the door and bumped it this morning. I'll see if it'll fit in boys stocking. If not will have to be wrapped and drive us all bonkers when MiL starts rearranging things.

Update on sicky boy- probadly hand foot and mouth ( no hes not a cow, its different) v infectious, but not itchy.Lots of spots, looks hideous on his hands in particular. I was worried about Chicken pox, turns out to be very similar but not itchy and possibly more contagious. Oh Joy. now got to stay away from any pg women, but healthy adults are unlikey to catch it. Hopefuly will clear up in a week or so, but pooh remains infectious for up to 4 weeks! Much hand washing recomended.

Cadmum- GOOD LUCK, you need it. hide the chocs somewhere you can get them with no one seeing you and sneak off for a top up when you need to hide. Do your Inlaws get teh hint ever if you DON'T make them endless cups of coffee and do it themselves? Mine do eventuly, but then miL breaks mugs and rearranges where things are kept so I prefer to keep her out of the kitchen.

Astrophe · 20/12/2006 23:22

Welcome back catj! Poor you Caddy, we had the in-laws for 10 days and I was very stressed - in the end the lead up was the worst bit, and it wasn't so bad while they were here - not great - but not terrible.

We went to Highfield Happy Hens today for carol singing and fairy light tractor ride. It was dark and FREEZING and very foggy, and we missed the carols cause we were late, but fortunately the 3 toddlers we had were all thrilled with the tractor and a sheep with two lambs and a nativity made out of hay, so a good time was had by all!

DH off work now, so a busy couple of days of last minute things and cleaning for our "1 year in Derby" party of Friday night! Can't believe its been a year! We are having serious discussions about how long we stay. We had planned 2 more years, then travel, then home and have another baby in Aus, but that will be a 4 year gap between Eli and no.3, which is more than I'd like so...? Go home earlier? Or try to squeeze in another baby before we go home...? Hmmmmm. Had a dreadful, bitchy, screaming, ranting, bottom smacking (DDs) session yesterday that left me very depressed and sure we couldn't possibly have anothet yet as I am an unfit mother, but today am feeling cheerful and clucky!! Aaarrrgh!

Astrophe · 20/12/2006 23:23

oh, and shocking newsflash...DS stands alone!!!!!!!!!!!! My BABY!!!!!!

WeFrizyouamerrychristmas · 21/12/2006 11:57

Wow astro that's great
Hmm what to do eh, another one here? or back home, or how about on the way??? decisions, decisions, shall we debate the pros n cons for you, would make a great thread

Uni, thanks for the card! lol at it singing all the way....ahem

Caddy, that's ok, sorry to nearly get you into trouble with dh

LL don't worry about it!

Hi Munz Rom, and catj, so nice to hear Seren is doing good
Rom will post link to beanie thread asap when get chance.

RANT ALERT
So at dh here cause he won't go docs (hates the NHS since they killed his dad) and he's had indigestion for 3 days.....and our friend who died earlier this year had same symptoms what to do with dh.....you'd think having 3 kids he'd think of them a bit? grrrrrrr
anyway.....
bar that been running around like a looney all week, did girls out Tue night, ss carol concert in leeds last night and off out on dh's works do tonight! phew! gonna get car from MOT now, so will catch you all sometime tomorrow hopefully! phew.......

WeFrizyouamerrychristmas · 21/12/2006 12:02

Munz, Caddy, Rom I can't find dDebs thread so have done this?? \link(www.mumsnet.com/Talk?rn=34182&topicid=49&threadid=255310&redir=34182\link)

laundrylover · 21/12/2006 12:10

Morning all.

Catj, so nice to have you pop by and how great that Seren is home - enjoy xmas with your bunch. Join us in the New Year again...

Caddy - what can I say? Try to get some time off - long baths etc. and grit your teeth....it'll be over soon.

Astro - at standing baby!!! Sorry you had a bad time but hope you managed to vent it all and stay calm for xmas.....go on have another baby to stop me getting broody.

Friz, men are crap, we all know that. Mine forgot to give Kiah any milk all Tues pm!! He also won't go and get his ears syringed so shouts all the time and has to be forced to take a parectemol for a hangover - happy enough to down 8 pints to get it tho....

Just off up to my mum's. My nan has deteriorated overnight and we are waiting for SS to do an emergency assessment.I reckon they will hospitalize her and then she will get MRSA and that will be that. We were all hoping that she would just close her eyes in her own bed but things never go according to plan. I am crying now writing this as it sounds callous but she has been ready to go for so long by her own admission. Will let you know what happens....

Astrophe · 21/12/2006 21:08

(((hugs))) LL, I've had a similar experience and I know how tough it is.

Thanking and praying for you, your Mum, and you Nan tonight.
xxx

Friz, what is your address please? Could you mail me? Ta

COPPERfeelunderSantasTOP · 22/12/2006 11:40

I don't often remember to check in here but just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you and your family, LL. xxx

UniSarah · 22/12/2006 17:28

Big hug LL. Astro - I'm sure your a fine mum, just a bit fed up with DDs behaviour at teh mo. Friz- what is it with blokes!

I'm back on top today- was feeling dreadfull and coldy yesterday, really hoping DH and I don't end up with HF&M as well as that would screw up our new year plans. Dh has FINAlly admitted hes a bit run down and needs a break from work, he's had no break since early August. So hes taking off teh days between christmas and new year. It'll be nice to have him around.
Boy is getting less spotty gradually. his hands are now just nasty rather than horrid. Hes been keeping socks on his hands pretty well the last 3 days and Ithink that helped stop any of teh spots getting really manky.Hes now trying to pull himself up on teh wall ( not going to get far with that game I think)

WeFrizyouamerrychristmas · 22/12/2006 19:52

Hey all, will do Astro
LL {{{{Big Hugs}}}} how's things today?
Uni, glad boys hands getting better! Hope you don't go down with it hon......and very glad your dh has time off too!
Mine made it home today before me and the kids got back from Leeds! 1st time in ages, and he doesn't have to work tomorrow now either, hurrah!!!! Xmas is here!!!!

laundrylover · 22/12/2006 23:09

Thanks for all the cyberhugs guys and Merry Christmas CopperTop - hope you are doing well. Your due date was my birthday but not sure whether you hit it as stats not there.

My Nan is now installed in a residential home that also does nursing if needed and according to my sister looks better than she has in ages. My mum seems happy with the place so all is calm for xmas. I will pop in to see her tomorrow but was looking after my cousins kids this morning to free up my mum....how does anyone cope with 4????? Tilly threw a 3 hour tantrum this pm and we all ended up in tears.

Uni, glad to hear that the boy is feeling better, fingers crossed for a full recovery for Monday. I think you can only get H, F and M once so hopefully you and DH had it when you were little...

Friz, think we have threadworms....did you send cyber wrigglers?????

Now that nanny is in a home I've inherited my parents for xmas dinner - erk! We will see how a 61 year old farmer copeswith his first veggie one....

WeFrizyouamerrychristmas · 23/12/2006 10:27

LL his 1st vegi Xmas, rofl
Glad nan is ok in home, best place for her me thinks, wish mine would give up and go into at least a warden aided place

Didn't send cyber wrigglers, but eeeeekkkkkk, get down boots lass!! that been said dd2 didn't get them here, and we all dosed up immediately, so was just ss with the plague so to speak.....

Birthday party to go to today another one so close to Xmas, yikes!

UniSarah · 23/12/2006 16:41

Oh deer LL, it never rains it pours,eh. fingers crossed for a worm free new year.

Did any of you brave christmas shopping today? DH offered to do the supermarket runand I let him go alone. Didn;t think it would be a good idea to take virus boy...did take himdown theroad to Gordon teh greengrocers tho in teh sfaternoon as we have been munching satsumas rather fast and needed more. Gordons satsumas are MUCH nicer than sainsburys, and his veg is mostly local if its seasonal. They are the shop that do our veg bags in term time but during teh hols I have to take a walk , about 2 mile round trip.

Friends coming for festive tea tomorrow with their boy*, then In laws 25th and 26th, then hopefully a 1st B/d gathering with other friends on 27th for their christmas day baby. going to be busy.

  • whos already had HF&M.
WeFrizyouamerrychristmas · 23/12/2006 18:41

Sounds like a packed Xmas Uni
MMM 'local' veg (not that satsumas are local mind) is nearly always better than supermarkets, do you all not agree??

Well have just popped onto say Merry Xmas to all, as we're having a few days off the pc here wonder if we can make it thru!!!! I've already told dh, we must track Santa, so bet I'll be able to sneak onto mumsnet as well

UniSarah · 23/12/2006 19:31

er - sorry for more typos than even I "normaly" manage in my last post. can't even blame the boy, he was up stairs playing with daddy. just can't spell or typew.

Astrophe · 23/12/2006 21:04

Merry Christmas one and all!

We will also be attempting a PC free Christmas, but I'll have to restrain DH, who loves to potter about or Google Earth, Break, and read the Sydney Morning Herald online.

We also have a busy day tomorrow - normal church, lunch with friends, then back to church for 'carols round the tree' in the arvo. We also need to fit in a mad dash to ELC some time (aaarggh!!!), not for a Chrissy present, but as a reward for DD who is finally pooing on the potty, and has been promised a tea set when she gets 10 smileys on her chart (she is up to 9...and you know pre-schoolers and instant gratification!).

Timing eh? Although really its a great Chrissy present for us all as she has been making herself quite sick with holding on etc, so its a real breakthrough for her. (Sorry if TMI!!!)

DD and I made Jesus' Birthday cake today, which was a spectaucular flop ( sponge cake - one inch high...I blame the oven ), so I currently have a new one in the oven. Think DD will notice the one 'she' made was round and this one is square!?

I really am more excited this Christmas than I have been for years!

I hope you all have a wonderful day with your little ones.

Fingers crossed for some snow eh?

x
