Hi all, welcome to thread 2!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Captainmcgraw · 28/10/2014 17:58

yellow how important is it to give gaviscon after feed? We have been giving it just before or after one breast (from syringe) and before the other? Would this make it less effective? Agree, they're too sleepy after the feed whereas if he's still hungry he'll usually take it.

YellowWellies · 28/10/2014 18:21

Captain its meant to act as a 'lid' of thick fluid that stays in the stomach and keeps the thinner milk beneath it from being refluxed up so its advised to give it after if at all possible otherwise it wouldn't really act as a cap IYSWIM?

fedupofrainydays · 28/10/2014 18:25

Well, we don't appear to have any more green vomit. So let's hope
Was a one off. Trying the sheepskin in the bednest today - think dH would think I was mad if I went and spent another 100 quid on a sleepyhead! It does look cosy though and he sleeps well in the ergo newborn insert which is similar cosy wise. He's also now in a gro bag - moved on from swaddling, not sure if bad idea or not!

YellowWellies · 28/10/2014 18:35

Fed up Lilla loves the ergo insert too! Great for a snooze / some time to do stuff MN on the couch with my feet up

mrsb87 · 28/10/2014 18:36

fedup poddlepods are only about £40, they have the slightly bigger toddlepods on sale at the moment which I got because Dylan is so long!

Me23 · 28/10/2014 19:05

Thank you stigz and yellow for the reflux advice. I do hope it isn't an intolerance or allergy as I'm vegetarian so dairy and soy are an important part of my diet (I'm also quite deficient in b12 and vit d so don't think giving up dairy eggs Or soy is wise for my own health)

I will make violet an appt with gp soon and see if I can get her to try some gaviscon first.

I agree the sleepyheads look ace I can't justify the expense right now especially if violets issues are due to reflux then sleepyheads isn't likely to change things. I did search online for the ergo cocoon sleeping bag (the one suitable for newborn) but I couldn't find anywhere that sold it, the official site didn't have anywhere to click on to buy it? Maybe their site doesn't work on mobile.

Major parenting fail today myself and the kids haven't even got out of our pjs today! Feeling guilty but I've been stuck on sofa feeding/holding v all day. Must try to get out tomorrow.

ohthegoats · 28/10/2014 19:36

I've been stuck on the sofa since 3. I'm so bored and my bum has gone numb.

ohthegoats · 28/10/2014 20:06

In fact, sitting here has made me worry that I'm going to find maternity leave really hard. By last night I was bored of the options available to fill my time. Can I go back to work next week please?

Captainmcgraw · 28/10/2014 20:09

yellow ah I see, in that case it's next to impossible. A friend with reflux baby said she gave it mid feed which is why I was doing same but I guess she was doing that as there was no other option! It's a complete faff and doing my head in, as is having to make it up with screaming baby (I'm premaking it if out and about which is probably a no no as well.) Medicine in general is not compatible with breastfeeding...

fedupofrainydays · 28/10/2014 20:27

Get out and about goats - that way don't get bored!

R is 6 weeks today - mega growth spurt ahead?!

YellowWellies · 28/10/2014 20:28

Me23 I got the ergo cocoon here: www.snuglittletots.co.uk/products/ergococoon-hybrid-swaddle-sleeping-bag-2-5-tog-3-12-months-up-to-12kgs-natural

I really rate it, I swaddle her arms at the start of the night but am letting her arms out once relaxed - as soon as big enough I reckon she'll be OK in a sleeping bag - this is a great transition and a great way of swaddling whilst knowing the tog rating.

YellowWellies · 28/10/2014 20:29

fed up stock up on chocolate!

STIGZ · 28/10/2014 20:49

goats i have been stuck in most days since last week, the weather here has been horrendous, i cant drive as i had c/sec so im really missing my car Sad its to be dry & crisp tomorrow so i am looking forward to getting my dog out for a long walk with my pram - i am starting to get cabin fever! The cons of being super organised is that i dont even need to go and buy any baby bits i might need, food shopping isnt doing it either, as i still have no appetite !! Blitzed my house today as my work mates came to visit, really couldnt have them seeing the dust that had gathered on surfacesBlush but its made me feel better by doing it ! They should visit more often, probably not for a while as i didnt have milk in to even give them tea Blush i need to invest in a cow for the back garden for the amount of visitors that require tea & coffee

fedupofrainydays · 28/10/2014 20:52

I like the look of the poddlepod and not too much of a rip off. Does it work / help them settle?!

goats do you not still have building work to sort? Every spare minute I have is somethjng to do with the house!

STIGZ · 28/10/2014 20:58

I was going to buy the toddlepod but im sure it says that its not suitable for overnight sleeping, double check the questions and answers page on their site. The sleepyhead is fine for overnight use and from the reviews is well worth the money. Think i will invest in one when its time for the "big cot" .

mrsb87 · 28/10/2014 21:29

fedup I've been told they're good, they have a Facebook page which has lots of positive comments and reviews.

fedupofrainydays · 28/10/2014 21:55

Seems a bit odd they couldn't sleep in it?!

Does anyone else have a bed best? Have you made it more 'cosy'? Do you have the side always down or mostly up except when want to get them out? As to me it's not that different from Moses basket at the mo and not quite sure why I spent the money! Perhaps I'm not using it right!

fedupofrainydays · 28/10/2014 21:56

Nest not best!

YellowWellies · 28/10/2014 22:32

We have a sheepskin in the bednest, she wears an ergo cocoon swaddle / bag and we drop the bednest side down closest to me.

hefner · 29/10/2014 01:47

I'm tempted to buy a toddlepod for daytime naps now that DS is outgrowing the moses basket, I'd like somewhere cosy for him to lie downstairs. I was determined not to spend much this time as I've got everything saved from dd and this will be my last baby, but I've just bought a boba 4G and now I'm considering spending another £50 on a toddlepod, hmm, that resolution didn't last long!

Sorehead · 29/10/2014 02:01

It's quiet on here tonight.....hope this means everyone is having a good night with their LO.

Just done our 1:30 feed and nappy change. Typical that the one nappy full of poo falls on my turn to feed/ change! Reckon DH and DS planned it....Grin

RudyTuesday · 29/10/2014 03:49

I got a sleepyhead but LO still kicks off when I put him down. Best use I've found for it so far is to put it in the bath when I have a shower, baby seems to like sound of shower and I can keep an eye on him.

My latest "how much?Hmm" baby buy was a my brest friend feeding pillow, which I am finding quite good as frees up hands when feeding and I find it quite comfy. Just as well given mad feeding frenzy that's currently underway.

fedupofrainydays · 29/10/2014 07:36

It's the latter half of my nkghts that are crap at the mo 3 to 7. I made a panic purchase of jelonet at 4.45! So tired. Ds1 comes in at 7 wanting to play games.... Need coffee!

sazzlehopes · 29/10/2014 07:36

Me23 going dairy free as a veggie will be really hard. I've started dairy free and although husband is veggie I am not so its ok for me to up my intake of other things at lunch etc... I do really recommend this book though- a modern way to eat for anyone but veggies especially. Lots of great advice as to where else to get vits and protein from from less obvious sources. Really nice simple recipes, I've used it a lot already. Even my 3 yr old has eaten most things ive cooked from it! www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0007516703?pc_redir=1414004790&robot_redir=1

I have a dairy intolerant vegetarian boyfriend, we eat quite a lot of Asian food. You can get vegan ghee online even. We also use ottolenghi recipes quite a lot. I'm not a veggie, so eat meat at lunchtime!

After yeeterdays pissefoffness, boyfriend brought Pip to bed, gave her an expressed bottle then spent over an hour getting her to sleep while I slept next to them. Funny how sleep fixes all ills right now!
