Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Had some sleep last night OH packed me off to bed at 8pm last night and came down at 11:30 v was asleep and didn't wake till 2:30am so I got a decent block of sleep first since her birth, though I kept waking up thinking she was going to wake Hmm I'm feeling so much better today physically ands emotionally. Think I'm going to have to do this most nights so I can cope.

Saw. Hv today violet is now 8lb 8 two pounds heavier than her birthweight in just under a month. I'm not 2 surprise as she constantly on the boob.
Spoke to hv about reflux I'm trying gripe water since yesterday she said try for a few days if not helping see gp for medicine??.

Oh last night after being up with v from 2:30-4:30am and she still wide awake but not crying I thought let me just put her in carrycot and see what happens and she went to sleep! No crying (obv. If she cried I would have picked her up. It was probably just a one off but I'll have to try it again instead of waiting for hours for her to fall asleep on me.

Kirstipops · 06/11/2014 15:37

Thanks Pony, she tends to do the pulling the nipple thing towards the end of the feed so that makes sense!
I wondering where Goats is too - hope all is well with you and Pippa.
So Heidi is 5 weeks on Saturday but as she was born at 41 weeks I'm wondering if she may be heading towards the dreaded 6 week growth spurt early? She's been on my boobs since 12 and was similarly thirsty for a few hours yesterday too...

Kirstipops · 06/11/2014 15:38

Fedup I love baby smiles Grin

YellowWellies · 06/11/2014 16:21

Lil was up smiling and kicking and twatting herself with out of control hands for 2.5 hours. No crying. Just twinkly eyes watching everything. I've put her in the sling to snooze as otherwise she'll be wired. That's definitely the longest she's ever been awake!

Blood test results are fine, its just breast milk jaundice and she's well below the treatment line Smile

MundayCakes85 · 06/11/2014 16:42

Etta doesn't seem to sleep during the day. Instead of sleeping 18 hours she's awake 18 hours!! Anyone got any ideas on getting her to sleep a bit more?
Also getting fewer oops (but bigger) she's 4 weeks Sunday but was 2 weeks over due- does that make her 6 weeks?!?
Hope everyone had a productive day x

mrsb87 · 06/11/2014 17:22

Great to hear Lil's jaundice is nothing serious yellow!
munday Dylan falls asleep almost instantly in his caboo , have you tried a sling or carrier?

mrsb87 · 06/11/2014 17:25

I was wondering about goats too, hope her and Pippa are both on of she's still reading x

mrsb87 · 06/11/2014 17:26

*ok

Me23 · 06/11/2014 17:59

My other half got the job he had the interview for last week, so proud of him :-) Indian takeaway tonight to celebrate!
Glad to hear all is well re jaundice it usually is breastmilk jaundice if still presenting at this stage.

yellow or anyone else that had one what do you dress Lo in when in the ergo both ins side house and out? As apparently they get quite hot with the newborn insert, so do you dress them in fewer layers than if in buggy?

fatpony · 06/11/2014 18:08

Congrats to your husband mrs, how exciting!

Those using Infacol, it says use before every feed but M feeds about once an hr - surely that would be too much to dose him so frequently?

fedupofrainydays · 06/11/2014 18:19

With ergo and insert I just keep what he's got on (vest and babygro). It's been mild so I just put on a hat when outside. Today was colder so I put on a little cardigan. But they are so cocooned in the insert and next to you it's much warmer than in the pram

The longest R has been chilled when not on me or asleep or feeding is about 20 mins. He's a right grumpy one at the mo so it's not at all. Bad tummy ache and its horrible to watch - gripe water doesn't seem to be helping. Probably because I can't actually get much in him!

fedupofrainydays · 06/11/2014 18:20

Congrats Mr Me! That's great news

STIGZ · 06/11/2014 19:36

Remember the way i was craving wine throughout my pregnancy? ... I would happily give it up for another 9 months in exchange for 9 hours solid sleep Wink very very tired tonight!! DD1 who is four was up through the night every hour saying her lady garden was stinging, but actually screaming blue bloody murder... I couldnt calm her down at all! Phoned nhs 24 as i thought something seriously was wrong by the way she was acting and had her at docs today but nothing wrong down there, so she must of scratched it in her sleep? Literally had two hours if that ? It will probz be dd2 turn tonight even though she has been a wee angel ?

Congratz to your dp me ... Enjoy your takeaway celebration.

YellowWellies · 06/11/2014 20:07

Me yes I was sure she was OK as she is so active and I never have to wake her to feed (I blimmin wish!!!!), but the consultant who did her hip scan on Tuesday really freaked out about it and booked an emergency appointment, so that had me Shock .

I take Lil out in the ergo just in her grow and vest, if cold I pop a hat and socks on her and wrap my coat round but she is seriously toasty anyway so I've only done that on frosty mornings.

puppythedog · 06/11/2014 20:11

Congratulations MrMe Grin

Kirstipops · 06/11/2014 20:17

Yay MrMe that's fab news!

fedupofrainydays · 06/11/2014 20:20

yellow R had breastmilk jaundice too and went only last week really. People used to comment - ooh he's still yellow - and used to panic me but he was tested for all sorts in hospital and the paeds and MW all said it was BM jaundice but still hard to deal with when people commented so much!

puppythedog · 06/11/2014 21:18

One of the midwives on the ward explained that jaundice level is not about colour. Baby can be very yellow but low level or not yellow but jaundiced needing treatment.

STIGZ · 06/11/2014 21:43

God it really is school day on here! Never knew about bf jaundiceHmm

I really want to buy a carrier but worried i wont be able to put it on by myself?

STIGZ · 06/11/2014 21:47

Cant beleive people fed up Hmm remarking about his colour? Not nice!

fedupofrainydays · 06/11/2014 21:55

puppy that's what happened to R initially. He wasn't yellow at all but tested him anyway and he was just below the scary line for exchange transfusion!!!!! He got yellower as time went on but was never as yellow as ds1 got, but ds1 didn't need treatment whereas R had 3 admissions to special care for phototherapy!
I know stigz... I don't think they realise what they are saying and how it worries you.

Tonight we had constant screaming from 5 to 9. He's got obvious stomach pain. Gripe water is not working and tbh it's a right faff if bf so wish I hadn't taken HV advice and given up infacol (but that wasn't really working either)

MundayCakes85 · 06/11/2014 22:22

Congratulations MrMe hope you enjoyed your take away. DH finally got involved and attempted the ergo. She fell asleep, briefly, but looked v low down in the carrier. Think we need more practice!

YellowWellies · 06/11/2014 23:29

Woo I didn't know that the colour isn't indicative of the severity of the jaundice!

Folk do say daft things. I make teensy babies, with Jonas I regularly got "are you feeding him?" from folk who admittedly, had never seen a BF prem baby before and were comparing him to term FF babes. Already with Lil I'm getting "has she put on any weight since she was born? - she's so tiny" err yes she's put on 1\6th of her birth weight in 6 weeks. Nay bad! But then folks say equally mean and just plain dumb things about big babies.

fedupofrainydays · 07/11/2014 02:52

It sounds very windy and wet outside! Nice to be inside and cosy, even though I am awake feeding and bloomin knackered!

fedupofrainydays · 07/11/2014 03:20

yellow I can imagine the size comments really grating too. I had it in the early days - made me feel I was doing somethjng wrong

He just forcibly puked all over the duvet. Nice. Think just was because he had two full boobs of milk. But it was quite a bit of puke Sad

Any tips for successful administration of gripe water?
