Hi all, welcome to thread 2!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Errrr2012 · 31/10/2014 14:44

Sorry just seen it. I'd guess it was wind too but I'm no expert. May depend on what you've eaten too cause dd has been really unsettled at times but usually 6-12hours after I've eaten something spicey or tomatoey. She's often straining and squirming rather than crying, just looks uncomfortable. So not like reflux which is usually characterised with a lot of crying isn't it?

clairemiss79 · 31/10/2014 15:32

goats i had to ff after 2 weeks cos of my antibiotics and i felt guilty and upset about it at the time. But now ff is def best for all of us as a family. I read that 85% of antibodies etc are passed across to the baby in the first 6 weeks so you've given it a good go. I also second whoever mentioned the perfect prep machine.
Best. Invention. Ever!!
Don't ff without one :)

MundayCakes85 · 31/10/2014 15:32

She's asleep!! Been feeding every 2 hours since last night. So we went out for an hour's walk and she's finally settled long enough for me to have lunch. Fingers crossed I get a nap in as well Smile

fedupofrainydays · 31/10/2014 15:51

Hello jelonet users - do you need to wash nipple before bf after using this thing? Thanks

fatpony · 31/10/2014 16:46

Thank god for this forum as it's nice to know others are in the same boat re sleepless nights and tricky times! I was totally Ill prepared for how time consuming newborns are and am only beginning to get my head around the idea that I need to slow down and commit to plenty of sitting down time. I've even got into escape to the country!

I have felt lonely this week but met my nct mums this morning and it makes such a difference to the day to have something to 'do'... Came home after and felt able to relax a bit without feeling like I am wasting the day. So I'm going to try and get out to something once a day. Can't wait till I figure out the close caboo sling so he becomes even more portable.

mrsb87 · 31/10/2014 17:31

I totally agree fatpony. I don't think I was prepared for the amount of "I haven't had time for that" that I was going to be telling dh. Today has gone fairly well though, showered and hair washed, a baby wash done, tried sorting a few things with bills etc and made a risotto for tea! Quite chuffed Smile

MrsY87 · 31/10/2014 17:39

I totally agree I don't know where the day goes and feel like I spend a lot of time sat on the sofa! But I try to make sure I'm getting out the house each day, even if it's a quick walk down the high street to pick up some bread or whatever we have run out of. Today was my first day totally home alone with no plans so at least getting out the house makes me feel like we've achieved something...also means you get a bit of adult contact even if it's just with the cashier in waitrose!

Happytimes31 · 31/10/2014 18:26

err thanks that is what I was wondering too. It is the red faced squirming husiness and definitely only 11-2 ish the only thing is that I tend to eat different stuff everyday and hopefully not anything that would upset him. But I guess who knows!

STIGZ · 31/10/2014 18:48

Ended up going to the doctors as the pain my c/sec wound was getting worse and had really bad stomach pains turns out i have a urine infection, my bladder was attached to previous c/sec scar tissue which they had to get "unstuck" during my recent c/sec, i really hope im not going to have long term problems with my bladder Halloween Hmm

mrsb87 · 31/10/2014 19:03

Oh stigz I hope you get sorted soon. Bloody Csection wounds are a PITA!

Missus2ndwife · 31/10/2014 19:41

Oh Stigz, I hope you're ok. Positive is at least you know there is a problem and it's getting sorted.

So bubba has been half heatedly feeding all day and refusing to sleep on his own. Who can blame him (for refusing to sleep on his own) when there are so many minions to lie on?

Bubba has also been chatting to himself in the hope one of us picks him up gives dagger eyes to all for even thinking of picking him up

Tonight for dinner we're having rare steak & Roquefort cheese!! Get in post pregnancy diet Grin

YellowWellies · 31/10/2014 19:51

Argh Stigz good luck!

Happy just seen your question, a baby could have reflux and be happy all day and only upset at night - if night time is the only time they're laid flat. What other symptoms are there?

Today I managed a toddler group Halloween party - with a recalcitrant Jedi knight, a train ride with sling and buggy to my sisters, cookie decorating with 3 under 5s and trick or treating. Lil was in the sling and was fawned over at every doorstep. I'm done in as Lil's sleep sounds v like Violet's - not a fan of going 2+ hours! Though interestingly my CS scar isn't sore. I'm 5 weeks post op and today's a notable breakthrough recovery wise as I didn't notice it. Yet!

binkybunny · 31/10/2014 20:14

Oh dear, DH bought a tub of Celebrations for trick or treaters but we haven't had any round so have broken into them ourselves. Feeling rather sick already!

sazzlehopes · 31/10/2014 20:28

I'm so grateful to know this cluster feeding and lack of sleep thing is normal...but I'm sorry some of you are functioning like me on about 2 hours a night. It's so painful hearing N writhe about in discomfort only for me to pick him up feed, change, feed and wind for half an hour and attempt to put down only to have him settle for about 20 mins, then snuffle/snort and cry and then sick up some feed and we start all over again. Last 2 nights have been the worst but hoping so much that the dairy will work it's way out of my system and I might see an improvement soon. Interestingly we've had blood in poo and green poo twice this week so I guess I was right about the dairy thing thanks to yellows tips to spot it much earlier. I'm SOOO grateful for this forum!!!

Almond milk in tea is ace by the way! Better than oat milk I've discovered...

Happytimes31 · 31/10/2014 20:37

yellow thank you. He is happily in the Moses basket during the day and the head end is propped up. Occasionally sick but not after every feed.

YellowWellies · 31/10/2014 20:44

Sazzle woo I'll have to try almond milk in tea. I'm so missing a cuppa. Glad it helped. I'm vair paranoid about CMPI and can see it everywhere but hey 30% of babies will have it. Am so glad its been picked up early. Fingers crossed it'll be outgrown asap.

Lillemor is 5 weeks and seems to be outgrowing the machine gun pooing machine stage. Today she's only had 2 poos rather than 10. This is about the time their guts slow down isn't it?

I've just been getting proper smiles at me when I smile at her and kiss her! It gets easier from here on in!

fedupofrainydays · 31/10/2014 22:09

I've had a sort of smile but also think could be wind!!

I also have been having almond milk - love it.

R been loads calmer today so not yet tried the gaviscon. He's still sick but doesn't seem too unhappy with it.

I phoned the doctor back aboit the thrush and she was adamant that of there wasn't lots of white stuff in his mouth he doesn't need treating. So let's see how we go...
Any takers on my jelonet question?

Can I just feed as normal with it or do I have to wash before feeds?

fedupofrainydays · 31/10/2014 22:11

Ps. yellow R has slowed down on the poo front too. Before it was one every nappy, now it's one or two a day

Bump Lil's the same on the farting front! She was 35+5 so her gut is probably similarly immature so hopefully in a few days you might get some respite on the pooing? Her nappy rash was just looking really sore yesterday - I can't tell if its applying breast milk today or a day with only 2 poos that has done it but its barely red now. Thank god. Her bum was starting to look like a baboons. Blush

Sorehead · 31/10/2014 22:33

How often are everyone's FF babies pooing? DS is 2 weeks old and is only going once a day (although he didn't poo at all yesterday)

puppythedog · 31/10/2014 22:33

Sorry to be so absent, our last 36 hours were fun: we were already having some of the usual difficult stuff that everyone is, long cluster feeding, questioning if we're getting it right, if the latch is okay. We had tears a couple of nights ago, (all three of us) I cannothelp to breast feed and I find that tough, coupled with Tilly sometimes not responding to us trying to meet her needsand the crying in that way that goes through you Hmm.
The yesterday Mrsthedog had an SVT, this meant she Had to go to A and E, it's basically a very high heart rate and she needed urgent treatment. Matilda was with gran who then needed to Ff for us which ended the EBF. We're okay with that, situation dictated it. Did mean that Gran offered to be with Matilda all night and FF in the middle of the night so we could have a sleep through. This was a godsend.
Was not fun having cause to wonder how I could raise Tilly without mrsthedog, can't help dramatic thinking in dramatic times. All okay now, we know we can go from bottle to boob so we will start expressing soon :-)
Hope you find some peace everyone

binkybunny · 31/10/2014 22:44

Aw puppy hope Mrs is ok.

sore once a day too for ff poo, although occasionally go a day without or more than once. mw and hv were both happy with this.

I loved almond milk when pregnant and couldn't drink cows milk, I tried drinking almond milk when I came back from hospital and that now has the soapy taste cows milk had when pregnant! Strange Hmm
