I didn't feel run down before getting ill Stunt but now I have a name for what is going on and have been able to google it it looks like 1-3 weeks is the norm, but it is more severe (and quite rare) in adults. LO had it and it cleared up in a week or 9 days from start to finish, and it was relatively mild.

Apparently it is quite a common reaction in under 5's as a first reaction to coldsore exposure, but less so in healthy adults. I feel very special Hmm

I have actually been feeling healthy this year, especially in the second half of the year - I exercise more, eat better, stopped the smoking, and before finally stopping was hardly smoking anyway. My weight has been all over the place but I have put that down to hormones (and my thyroid has just been checked so can't blame that). All my blood tests were perfectly within the norms.

I do tend to catch every bug going but that is part of having toddlers I think. We have all had on and off colds and sore throats since September.

Anyway, once my poor mouth can take it will be back on full food and vitamin supplements and see what happens. Any recurrence should be like most people get them, just one or two on the lips.

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/11/2014 12:52

So while the rest of the quiche are busy trying to wean their little one's off omeprazole E has been prescribed a dose of 15mg twice a day. She's to have this dose for 6 weeks and go dairy and soya free (apart from baked dairy so she can have biscuits and cake). If things clear up we can reduce the dose. If not she'll need a steriod paste. Can't believe the pain I (E) had to go through to get this. Good thing is the consultant said if new baby shows any signs of reflux to cut dairy from my diet and send him an email straight away and he'll manage it.

BigPigLittlePig · 28/11/2014 13:13

Don't worry Eliza, you're not alone Envy

I do wonder whether we woukd have got a different helpful answer if we had paid to see someone privately. Everyone we saw was of the opinion "well best we don't do anything, reflux doesn't exist, you don't want to inflict anything invasive on you child, do you?" - well no, i don't, but a diagnosis and management plan would be good...Hmm Hey ho.

Whilst i lounge, sofa pinned browsing for slings, thanks stunt! dh is cleaning the house and making bread Grin

Pikz · 28/11/2014 13:16

Good news things are getting sorted Eliza

Glad you are starting to mend PR.

We are all I'll. am beyond exhausted. Have my first consultants appointment in 2 hours so need to layer the make u on. At least I'm not so bothered about having another today! Might stop me getting emotional!

YellowWellies · 28/11/2014 13:44

Eliza no way after all that - CMPI? Shock Why is baked dairy exempt? Jonas still reacts to baked dairy and he was never as bad as E.

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/11/2014 14:50

yw no, it's not cmpi. All allergy tests are coming back negative and the biopsy didn't show up any clear allergies either. However her oesophagus is in such a state that we need to avoid these things to give it a chance to heal. I don't really understand the ins and outs of it to be honest. Just following directions. But am now glad I have someone who sees there is a problem and is willing to investigate it fully to a conclusion rather than fob us off pretending everything is ok.

Zamboni · 28/11/2014 14:54

Good luck Pikz Flowers

QQ. Am I insane for considering taking DD and S to a panto on my own? Is there any prospect S might sit still? Would you do it or are they too young. S can sit and watch Fireman Sam and Peppa with reasonable attention.

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/11/2014 14:57

bplp you probably would have Sad It's such a tough position to be in. I feel for you.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/11/2014 16:22

zamboni DD1 will possibly be ok so you'll just have to deal with S? Might not be too bad?

I'd love to take mine to a panto. They don't really exist here.

eliza it is great that you are no longer being fobbed off.

My slow cooker arrives on Monday.

I finished my xmas shopping (French side) today on Amazon which means I will have to wrap it all after all.

Pikz · 28/11/2014 16:34

Laparoscopy and hysteroscopy being booked. Back on the infertility roundabout. At least I know now.

Zamboni I know L wouldn't manage but he is a handfu when made to sit still

YellowWellies · 28/11/2014 17:33

Eliza CMPI wouldn't show on allergy tests, but interesting to hear that avoidance of dairy and soy is recommended for healing! Good luck with the recovery.

YellowWellies · 28/11/2014 17:34

Pikz Thanks good luck love xx

Jims · 28/11/2014 18:26

zamboni i took both boys to what the ladybird heard in august. Ds1 loved it. F was ok for 30 mins then got bored. And wouldn't sit on my knee. And wriggled and squawked. And tried to escape - annoying the people next to us (i suspect). I gave him my phone to shut him up but that glows - not so great. I vowed not to take him again until he's at least 3. Even though there are various fab things on this xmas. Sorry.

In need of luck this weekend. Am flying solo with both whilst DH deserts us in favour of a stag do.

Plus I too am joining the queue for a consultant (next week for me) may post on facebook.

StuntNun · 28/11/2014 18:54

I took J to DS1's school performance of Oklahoma and it was awful, I spent almost all of it standing outside the auditorium trying to keep J quiet. He's okay at the cinema though but maybe that's a more immersive experience plus I tend to sit in the front row so it doesn't matter if he wanders around a bit thank you Clarks for light up shoes!

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/11/2014 19:34

pikz Thanks At least there is now a plan. Good luck.

yw I think I'll cut out all dairy inc baked. May as well go the whole hog. It's a shame it's come at a time when we have at least one children's party every weekend till end of Jan and Christmas thrown in. I can get a load of dairy free chocolate for her stocking!

zamboni I'm taking my 2 alone to see room on the broom next weekend but that's under an hour. I don't think my DD1 would sit through a panto let alone E. They are quite long. Me and DH took DD1 to see the snowman last year. She loved that but again it wasn't as long as a panto. I wouldn't contemplate taking E to one to be honest. And she'd probably fair better than DD1!

PetiteRaleuse · 28/11/2014 19:47

pikz hugs and luck from over here x

PetiteRaleuse · 28/11/2014 20:34

Just watching the UK Black Friday chaos on the French news - goodness. I get annoyed when there are more than 3 people in front of me at the check out. It's a complete con, like sales.

Pikz · 28/11/2014 20:35

PR I think the same. I like YW vowed to buy nothing today not even milk!

YellowWellies · 28/11/2014 20:44

We had 8 week jags today. Second time round is no easier. Lil was so upset. She keeps waking up with a scream and the very saddest face. I think its fair to say we're managing her reflux well as today's pain cry isn't something I've heard her do before, thank god. Even the doc was Shock by how loud and high pitched the cry was coming from this tiny baby.

I need gin.

Passmethecrisps · 28/11/2014 20:52

Dh went to waitrose for pizza and wine and was elbowed out of the way by a shameless old lady because it had money off!

Kyz · 28/11/2014 21:03

Hi all :)

Mum is made up that everyone thinks present bingo sounds so good :) To be fair it really IS fun, I love it :)

hope it all helps e now Eliza and it's good that you've got someone to finally listen, esp in regards to the new baby too, be good to get things dealt with earlier on :)

aw pikz hope you all get better soon! hope the appt went well?

zamboni I don't know if e would manage a panto, it depends how long it was and if it was focused on cars, lol!

bless her yw hope she's feeling better soon, nasty jags

Zamboni · 28/11/2014 21:34

Thanks for the thoughts quiche. It's an am-dram performance but think you might be right about the length - under 2 hours but I can imagine S getting horribly bored and figity. Maybe will leave it for this year, or see if I can find someone to come with me.

Jealous of a panto version of Room on The Broom Eliza!

Pikz ThanksThanks

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/11/2014 22:48

Ahhhh I need help. After going through my kitchen cupboards/fridge it appears that 80% of the things E loves contain milk. I think it's going to be hard as E is used to having things with diary in so going to be very hard for her to understand why I've suddenly stop giving them to her. I feel a fb help post coming on!

yw poor little love. I mean little l but also you too. These things are never nice for the mummys.

pr I have totally avoided black friday as well. It's crazy. I haven't bought anything either aside from a cheeky burger king whilst waiting for the train.

PetiteRaleuse · 29/11/2014 16:12

I have bought myself some cheap but thick and furry winter slipper socks.

Went to our first Christmas market of the year. No mulled wine for me obviously but as DH said, I always end up chucking it or giving it to him anyway as I don't actually like it. Love the idea of it though.

Saw Santa but couldn't get any pictures of terrified toddlers as they wouldn't go near him.

Bought some honey and bee related goods (have decided to supplement my winter with bee goodness this year).

There is a village party up the road tonight with some kind of show. Might pop along.

I have been able to eat more today. And drink..... squash. Woohoo. Stings a bit but is a nice change from water after a fortnight.

My mouth is getting better. Whoop whoop. In a week I will be back to normal I am sure of it. Still can't smile though, or open my mouth too much, so eat tiny teeny mouthfuls. But hey. Tiny teeny mouthfuls of choclit is better than no choclit.

PetiteRaleuse · 29/11/2014 19:30

Is there a quiche strike I didn't know about?

The music from the party down the road is vvvv loud. And it's loudest from the side of the house where the girls' rooms are.
