Quiet today.

DD1 has been saying she wants Father Christmas to bring her a book and a Barbie. Hmm

I went and got her a toy catalogue today in the hope that she will find something she wants more than a Barbie. I might rip out the pink pages Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/10/2014 20:34

DD1 has been asking for rollerskates. Is nearly 5 to young for skates? They do them in her size. But I think I'm going to try and put her off for a year. She's clumsy enough as it is without being on wheels!

Passmethecrisps · 28/10/2014 20:38

Maybe hold off on the skates! I used to love my pair (child of the eighties) but I got many a skinned knee!

Good on you pr! Tick that one off the list then!

P has developed a new thing today - she has started calling me "mummy boo boo" and DH "daddy boo boo". She says the "boo boo" bit with funny pursed lips. Strange little girl!

BigPigLittlePig · 28/10/2014 21:09

Eliza we got dsd some proper ones last Christmas or birthday, can't remember which, when she was just 6, and she is super clumsy. We also got wrist, knee and elbow protectors and so far she hasn't had any major catastrophes! Mind you, I can't watch too closely lol, it's all a bit heart in mouth.

Pass F has started trying to talk with her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth, so her voice comes out all gruff and weird. She does it whilst walking like John Waine, so all in all, vair strange, not aure where they pick these quirks up from.

Am off to bed, feeling a tad rough and pukey, hoping a good nights sleep sorts things out.

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/10/2014 21:29

I loved mine too pass. Got lots of photos of me skating round battersea park in a red duffle coat and yellow bobble hat.

bplp I think 6 is a more sensible age. I think I'll tell a little white lie and say father christmas doesn't let girls under 6 have them. Got next years present sorted then! Hope you sleep well x

Any other quiches watch strictly? I know chasing did last year. Who on earth is voting for Scott and Judy bloody Murray may have mentioned once or twice before that I can't stand the woman.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/10/2014 22:11

If I could eliza I would vote for Judy. Not just to piss you off but because I love her! She's fab!

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/10/2014 22:31

oh pr I used to hold you in such high regard. tut tut Grin

Passmethecrisps · 28/10/2014 22:36

Don't watch it but my mil is scandalised by Judy Murray.

PetiteRaleuse · 28/10/2014 22:46

I'm sure we have clashed on Judy Murray before eliza Wimbledon but last :o

I don't watch it either. Why is mil scandalized pass ?

Passmethecrisps · 28/10/2014 22:53

Because she is "bliddy terrible. . . Like watching a corpse, poor lass"

isles7 · 28/10/2014 23:27

So my gran has cancer. My mum got us all round tonight and sat and told us. I'm still a big numb really. Still awaiting more tests to see what stage it is. The whole thing is just rubbish Sad

isles7 · 28/10/2014 23:30

Also, XP has gone offshore leaving me his car. Which is great because my mum could really use my car to visit my gran and I'm still insured to drive his. He's even left Tilly's car seat in it which my sister needs tomorrow. Great! Except the fucker has taken the keys with him and parked the damned thing over my driveway Angry

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/10/2014 10:01

Yep I remember pr. I tried to block it from my memory. Your mil is quite correct pass. To be fair to judy she is coming across much better than I thought she would and actually appears to have a sense of humour. There's just something about her that gets under my skin.

Dreary day here today. My mum is coming over this afternoon to make scones with the girls and that's as good as it gets. Need a quiet day though really.

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/10/2014 10:02

isles Sad

Zamboni · 29/10/2014 17:10

Sorry about your gran isles. As for XP's car - I'd be inclined to get it towed for blocking me.

We have a sleb in the quiche! izzy was quoted on the MN "Swears by" email

YellowWellies · 29/10/2014 21:50

Yawn, well a month in with two kiddiwinks and its starting to feel normal. Jonas is utterly smitten. The poor girl regularly has his favourite Thomas engines shoved in her face to see or bestowed as "presents" and he won't go to sleep without kissing her Blush Smile . Kyz you're going to love it!

The ILs visited last week to "help" - am I a cow to be glad they've gone? I ended up catering for everyone, watching FIL demolish the dairy free goodies I'd baked for J's party and would regularly come in from cooking tea to find a screaming newborn being ignored whilst the ILs read the Daily Mail assuring me she was just exercising her lungs Envy . Am so glad of their help in recovering from major abdominal surgery - now they're gone it feels much easier just looking after two kids!!!!!

We had a new boiler installed today. I love it. Am sad Blush

Isles sorry to hear about your Nan. Love to your Mum and your sisters Sad

isles7 · 29/10/2014 22:16

Thank you all. It is primary liver cancer which is apparently quite rare. She went in with a blood clot in her lung ffs. The whole thing is just utterly shite - but she was well enough today to lay into me about my hair colour Smile

yw I've spent all day pricing boilers and kitchens so can understand the excitement kitchens were marginally more exciting though. Did you go for a smart meter thingy that links to an iPad? Hive I think it's called??

GTbaby · 29/10/2014 22:40

I remember a year ago going nuts because mil gave H a crisp. Today H had a bag of crisps (only because he is unwell and it's the only thing he showed any interest in) and he shared with A. Walking over and putting crisps on his high chair table for him as A ate his dinner. It was cute. Heart melting stuff watching how much they adore each other already. Right off to sleep in loft again hoping A sleeps a little longer.

Elizadoesdolittle · 29/10/2014 22:48

GT Your justification of why H had a bag of crisps made me smile. It's not like he was eating poison!

yw I'm glad J is loving being a big brother. And I can totally understand why you are glad the PIL are gone. I think it's a lot easier to just get on with things when you are in total control.

MsJupiter · 29/10/2014 22:50

So sorry to hear your news Isles. SadThanks

Passmethecrisps · 29/10/2014 23:10

Aaargh! My phone keeps crashing while I am typing so I keep losing posts!!!

Massive hugs isles.

That would drive me potty yw! My mum had her younger sister 'help' after my brother was born. The help was her sitting cuddling a newborn while my mum washed and cooked and cleaned for newborn and helper! My dad is still prone to blaming this for my brother not sleeping for years.

My mil once asked me when P's 'crying time' was. She believed that all babies needed at least two hours a day of good solid crying to develop their lungs. Her HV told her this. It made me very sad to think of her happily trusting in her HV and popping sil (strangely enough she never questioned why her boys didn't 'need' this crying time) in her cot to develop her lungs alone.

Passmethecrisps · 29/10/2014 23:16

Gone for a split post approach now. . .

I remember your annoyance gt Grin It is lovely to hear of what a wonderful bond they have.

It would seem that p has entered the 'terrible twos' but with an approach more akin to adolescence than Toddlerdome. She eye rolls and tuts and huffs if you look at her or talk to her at the wrong time. But if she does get upset she cries like full on heaving, choking, gagging wails. CM had clearly had a bit of a day of it so we had to discuss strategy. Lots of preparation for p - tell her what is going to happen and talk her through each step. Gentle ignoring - offering cuddles when ready and reassurance. Distraction to the Max! On the plus side p was a dream when I got her home Grin

After my parents staying here at the weekend I am most disturbed by the fact my pillow reeks of my mum's perfume. I washed the bed linen but clearly she has doused the pillow with anais anais. Odd and not pleasant

YellowWellies · 29/10/2014 23:54

Isles it can link to Hive but we didn't get the Hive control panel yet - I'm not convinced we'd use it so we're going to see how it goes this winter. The heating is on timed so its not like it could get left on for extended periods when we're out and there's an intelligent thermostat which won't let the house go below a certain temperature so we wouldn't need to turn it on remotely either. My cousin has Hive on his so am going to see what he says about this winter. We decided to put our cash into getting the most efficient boiler instead - not very snazzy but it should halve our gas bill! And there's a wireless thermostat which you can place in the room where you want most control of the heat - so for us that's the babies room.

YellowWellies · 29/10/2014 23:56

Pass that sounds a good battle plan. I may plagiarise it for bear taming. Who has turned into a real star gazer now the clocks have gone back. Spotting the moon and stars is his favourite thing at the mo!

Zamboni · 30/10/2014 06:12

The clocks have broken DC. We've been up at 4 every day since. We have cut day time sleep and stretched bedtime. Zzzzzzzzz for me at work today BrewBrewBrew
