Munchhausens by Proxy is the name of that Mawbroon. Poor Johnny - sounds like a nasty case of athletes foot, AKA foot thrush. I hope he feels better soon. Don't worry, with all my own health problems that usually turn out to be a lot more serious than anyone first thought, i'm sure they all think i've got Munchhausens too!

Well, Joey seems to have settled into his new routine of not having milk before bed any more. He's having a Milk Time pot as part of his dinner to boost his calcium (thanks for the suggestion of that ELF), and DH has sneakily been topping up his morning milk, so he still (albeit unknowingly!) has about 500mls milk per day. As far as bedtime goes, so long as DH puts him to bed, we get less tears and tantrums (and i get more Mumsnet time), although DH had to go out for a night shift tonight so Joey's had to go to bed earlier than usual, so he may stirr.

Also, good new on the potential claim against my employer - my nursing union has allocated me a London solicitor to investigate the claim. DH reckons this is a good sign, as the RCN wouldn't waste money out-sourcing to a solicitor (given that they've got their own legal department), unless they think i've got a strong enough case. Not sure what to think really, just want it over and sorted now, so i can get on with my life!

DLAMIS - how's pregnancy going the second time around? Any morning sickness yet?

Hope everyone else is ok? Off to the New Forest next week which should be fun. Take care, SM x

DontlookatmeImshy · 13/07/2007 21:16

mb -aww poor johnny, sounds painful, hope it clears up soon.

Stinky - that sounds like good news about the solicitor.Hope it all gets sorted quickly for you.
Have fun in the New Forest.

No morning sickness yet. Just started to feel tired and also having sleepless nights. Also get all weepy when I see anything sad on telly, cried at the RNLI advert last night.

mawbroon · 14/07/2007 15:15

Thanks DLAMIS. It seems to be clearing up already although it still whiffs a bit. It doesn't seem to be bothering him in the slightest though.
Glad it sounds like they are taking things seriously stinky. It must feel like limbo not knowing how things are going to end up. Have a good week away.
Just out of interest, and also seeing it's the PC thing to do, I got my tractor, digger, toolbox loving ds a girly book out of the library the other day. It was "that's not my fairy". Would you believe that he loves it, reads it for ages and can now say fairy!!! I am surprised as I had tried him with "girly" toys and books before and he wasn't interested.

mawbroon · 15/07/2007 21:43

Hpoe everybody had a good weekend. We were at the beach before 9am this morning. Johnny had his first ever walk on sand and his first ever paddle. he seemed to like it, but didn't like when his feet sunk into the sand. He then played outside in the garden for most of the day. he was exhausted and slept from 12 until 2.15pm but I had to put him back to bed at 4.15 as he was soo grumpy. I then woke him after an hour and he went to sleep no bother at 7pm. He has started sleeping through again which is bliss

Yokefleet · 16/07/2007 22:24

aww bless MB, we were on the beach on Saturday and Thomas loved it too, although he is used to walking on there he still wants to eat the sand, yuk

Hope everyone is well. We are fine just finding that there aren't enough hours in the day as usual.

Hope all is going well with the pg DLAMIS

Night all x

Does anybody else find is scary that they have a nearly two year old.

Where did the time go?!

mawbroon · 17/07/2007 13:00

Yes Elf. I know what you mean. Now when people ask how old Johnny is, instead of saying 21 months, I say he will be 2 in October . And it has been almost 2.5years since we were first pregnant with them! Even more shocking is that this thread is 10 months old!!
Johnny is still really attached to the fairy book. It has been in the car so this morning when I told him we were going in the car, he rushed to the door shouting "fairy"
We are going to our LLL meeting this afternoon to get some ammunition regarding the complaint I made about the rubbish breastfeeding advice when Johnny was ill. I have an appointment to discuss the complaint with the Clinical Director of the unscheduled care service on 10th August, so I have a bit of time to get some stuff together. Is anyone else still bf?

Yokefleet · 17/07/2007 16:55

Very scary thinking about having 2 year olds! Am definatley getting ready to try for another now, the conservatory should be finshed by the end of next week. Then we just have to laminate the floor & paint. Then a few finishing touches around the house then I will be ready!
dh is settling into another new job but it is the job he was after since we moved to Wales in Aug 05 so that is another thing that is settling me x
No bf here MB didn't get past day 1 with that one I hope your meeting goes well I couldn't believe the advice given to you when Johnny was poorly
Elf, when do you get your exam results?

hope all babies (well you know what I mean, they will always be our babies!) are well.

Love Hannah & Thomas

mb - I'm still bf'ing. I was planning to start weaning when ds was 2 but he's showing no signs of wanting to yet so I think I'm just going to see how it goes for now. Not sure whether to try and sort him out before no.2 arrives or whether to be a hippy lentil weaver and tandem feed .
Good look with your meeting this afternoon. Hope you get lots of good info/ammunition.

I haven't been on the beach yet with ds but MIL took him on when we went to visit. Apparently he ran straight towards the sea and MIL had to leg it after him lol.

Nearly 2 years old, hmm yes, I think I'm in denial abit about that . Will have to start thinking about arranging a party for him, especially as he missed on a 1st cos i was at my worst with PND

YF - hope your dh settles into his new job ok.

Ds is currently driving me crazy with a new tantrummy screamy wailing noise when he gets frustrated or can't get his own way. I am trying to ignore it but OMG it's such a horrible noise it's not easy. Apart from that he is as fine and lovely as\ever though

mawbroon · 17/07/2007 19:32

Glad I'm not the only lentil weaver on this thread DLAMIS!!! IF I ever get pregnant again then I would be willing to tandem feed if Johnny hadn't self weaned by then. I am wondering if I'm going to have to wean him to aid the ttc though but tiktok says that if the cycle is regular then breastfeeding shouldn't affect things too much, so I am hoping that luck will come our way soon.

Thomas is in a cotbed at the moment, when should I be thinking about taking the rails down, any ideas?

OP posts:
ELF1981 · 18/07/2007 08:13

I daren't take down the rails on Evelyn's cot bed, she's too much of a wriggler and even on our bed with pillows around her, she falls off!

I stopped b/feeding at 18/19 months. Miss it though sometimes.

YF - I am in denial about my results. I think it is mid August...

DontlookatmeImshy · 18/07/2007 08:27

Good luck mb- I was worried about the effect of bf'ing but I don't think it effected us at all. Took a few months but tbh that was more to do with our bad timing lol.

Yokefleet · 18/07/2007 08:33

Elf - only a month to go for the results then, will keep fingers crossed x

Re the bed, Thomas turns 360 degrees every night but at the moment is sleeping through nicely, he is also having 1 nap in an afternoon of 2hrs which is giving me time to get loads done. In a morning he is waking between 7-8 but then staying happily in his cot until 8.45-9am sometimes dozing back to sleep between waking and 9am. All this is lovely but if I know that if we take the rails off he isn't going to go to sleep as good as he does as he will be up and trying to get in the wardrobes etc. oh I really don't know what to do for the best.

OP posts:
mawbroon · 18/07/2007 13:03

I'm not going to take the rails down yet YF. I often find Johnny lying right against the side of the cot leaning on the rails which would have meant him falling out had the rail not been there. And, he is quite happy to sit babbling and amusing himself in the cot until I get him in the morning but with no rails, he would be running about which would mean I would need to get up. My sister left her dd in the cot quite happily until she was toilet trained as she felt it unfair to expect her to have to go to the toilet when she couldn't get out of the cot!! Is Thomas trying to climb out and generally posing a danger to himself? If not, I'd be tempted just to leave things be for now.

My Mooncup made it's outing this morning, so you were all too late with the baby dust.

ELF1981 · 18/07/2007 21:37

Aw, sorry MB

DontlookatmeImshy · 19/07/2007 15:21

MB.

mawbroon · 19/07/2007 15:45

Oh gosh, we don't need lots of sad faces, it will happen when the time is right I am sure.

Johnny had a bit of a mad morning. He was twirling round and rolling on the floor and rushing about crashing into things!! It just got too much for him and he got in a right tizzy, but it was cured by 10 mins of calm breastfeeding. He spent the morning with two of his cousins, they are 3.5 and 14months and he just loves being with them, especially the older one, following her everywhere and copying. Luckily she is willing to have him tag along for now, but it won't be long before she hates boys probably He then napped for 2 hrs, but he was really crabbit when he woke up and I suspected that he hadn't slept long enough, so I fed him and put him back down, and he's still asleep 45 mins later. I think there must be some serious growth or development going on with him because 3hrs has become his normal length of nap, as well as 7-7. I am NOT complaining of course.

Yokefleet · 20/07/2007 09:13

mb more baby dust coming your way for next month ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Re the rails thing,I thought the same about Thomas getting up earlier whereas at the minute he will lie happily in his cot for an hour before going for him so I have talked myself out of the idea! I am a mod on another parenting site (this is the only thread I look at on MN these days) and saw that kids younger then ours were going into beds and just got me thinking thats all.
I am loving the long naps to MB, Thomas has started taking just one nap now and its from 2.20pm - 4.20pm and it means I can get soooo much more done! its fab x
Hope all mums, babies & bump are doing well.

Love

Hannah & Thomas

Thanks YF. I will be happy though when Johnny is in a big bed and I don't have to lug the travel cot when we go visiting.

Neglectful mother alert - Johnny has taken two nasty tumbles in the last two days and one of these falls has resulted in a chip in one of his beautiful front teeth. It doesn't seem to be bothering him and I will take him to the dentist if it starts causing him a problem, but his lovely teeth . At least it's on the bottom where it's not so obvious. God, that and the forthcoming appointment for the non straightening thumb are going to make me look like a case for social services

DontlookatmeImshy · 20/07/2007 14:04

mb - ds started taking longer naps recently too. He went from 1.5 hours (you could set your clock by the time he's wake up he was that consistant) to anything between 2&3. But after a few days it was obvious it was coinciding with a huge growth/developmental phase/spurt. 3-4 people said to me (all within the space of 2-3 days) "wow has changed since last week, he's turned into a little boy" Anyway I'm making the most of it while I can lol.

mawbroon · 22/07/2007 21:32

Hope everyone is ok. Anybody affected by the floods? I won't complain about the rain here again!
Johnny is coming on great guns. He is walking further and further and he managed around half a kilometre this afternoon although it did take a while! This was after a wander round a big shopping centre where he must have walked a fair distance too. There were decorative lights in the centre on the wall at 20 metre or so intervals which he was fascinated by. They were behind a grille which went almost to the floor and the light was at the bottom lighting up a plaque on the floor. Every time we came to one, he tried to lie on the floor so he could see behind the grille to inspect the light. One woman gave me a sympathetic look as he fell to the floor... she must have thought he was having a tantrum. PMSL it was so completely the opposite.
He is doing a bit of whingeing though and I think it's because the poor wee mite is starving. He has three meals and two snacks as well as breastmilk whenever he wants. I have had to make the snacks bigger and it's hard to tell yet, but that might have helped on the whingeing front.

mawbroon · 22/07/2007 21:32

No wonder he's starving if he's being marched almost a mile a day
