the end masterpiece!

mawbroon · 06/07/2007 12:20

Joey is one cute little man stinky!!
Too bad about your back though. Do you get a decent amount of time on sick pay before they put you on statutory? Any further thoughts on taking it up with them as a work related accident?

Johnny and I have been having adventures in the centre of town today. The ergo sling is brilliant and I will deffo be buying one. He sits in it happy as anything and although he is low down, he can still see plenty. I bought a kind of giant bum bag thing for on my front which is big enough for a couple of nappies and snacks and drinks etc so we can go completely hands free (brilliant for on and off the buses), or one handed on a rainy day like today because I take a big golf brolly which covers us both. We were out for two hours and he didn't feel heavy at all.

DH and I are doing a week about babysitting swap with SIL and it was our turn for a night out last night. We walked for 6 miles round Edinburgh (cheap date PMSL) and it was brilliant. We used to do a lot of walking pre Johnny and it was great to get back to it. I am so delighted that we have moved back here, my life has transformed (in a good way!!)

DontlookatmeImshy · 06/07/2007 12:58

ooo ladies. I have some news.

Very early days yet, but all being well ds is going to become an older brother. Not sure I quite believe it yet.

mawbroon · 06/07/2007 13:05

Woooo hooooo DLAMIS.

But also

Bit more info please. When are you due? and all the other things that people ask when you are pg.

ELF1981 · 06/07/2007 13:07

WOOHOOOOOOOOO DLAMIS!!!!!!

DontlookatmeImshy · 06/07/2007 13:16

Thanks

lol mb. Due date 15 March 08. That's about all I can tell you at the moment

stinkymalinki · 06/07/2007 14:29

Congratulations DLAMIS I'm , but as i can't even try yet, its irrelevant!

Mawbroon - my nursing union are keen to pursue a claim against my employers for 'negligence of duty'. Whilst they and I accept that the actual accident is an occupational hazard in nursing, the poor way i was treated afterwards definitely is not! I was stuck at work for 4 hours after the accident happened because my stupid manager swanned off-site for a meeting and refused to come back and relieve me Still, my day will come, and hopefully she'll (finally!) get her comeuppance! Just got to look for a new job now, one that doesn't involve any manual handling risk at all. Hmm, could be difficult in my line of work!

Have a lovely weekend All, SM x

stinkymalinki · 06/07/2007 22:48

Also, i only get a month full pay, then it goes down to half pay for 6 months (as i'd only been back at work for 3 months since my shoulder injury, so it hadn't 'reset' itself yet), but i should be entitled to an NHS Temporary Injury Allowance as it was an industrial accident, which tops my pay up to 85% of my basic monthly salary for the total duration i am off sick. Not great, but better than nothing!

Joey was really cute today - as i was naming various body parts, he was pointing his out to his nan (my mum). She now thinks he's a genius! Still gets his eyes and ears muddled, but in fairness they do sound similar. And he is only 21 months!!

DontlookatmeImshy · 07/07/2007 17:45

lol thats funny stinky. Ds was showing daddy his hair, nose, mouth, eyes today too. His ears apparently are somewhere in the middle of his cheeks though lol.

mawbroon · 07/07/2007 19:38

DLAMIS - now you be careful with all that strenuous typing on MN, you know, in your condition etc etc Have you told people in RL yet?

That's a bit of a bummer re your sick pay stinky, but like you say, its better than nothing. I know a girl who was a nurse and then she got a job with a nursing agency doing recruitment. Is that something you could do? Not really what you trained for though...

Johnny has just turned into a toddler overnight. He is running about all over the place and coming out with pretty good attempts at lots of words and now saying whole words where before he would only say a bit of it. He is throwing mini tantrums a bit more often, but mostly with DH because DH doesn't know what triggers them. For example, I have learned not to open the door and go outside (eg just nipping to put something in the outside bin) unless I am prepared to either let Johnny out too (pain in this weather, he gets soaked) or else have him do a mini tantrum. They really aren't that big a deal though, a petted lip and a bit of a whinge and sit down on the floor is about as bad as it gets. But from small acorns do large oaks grow or something like that.

How is the eating coming along? Johnny is still pretty good although he does chuck food that he doesn't like over the side of the highchair. He seems to have gone off a few things that he previously wolfed down, oranges being one of them but perhaps it is just a phase. Tonight we had stir fry and i chopped his veggies up small once i had served it up on his plate and he ate most of it. He hates avodado though - you would think I had poisoned him judging by the face he pulls!! He can manage really well with a spoon and fork but sometimes just likes to get stuck in there with his hands!

Yokefleet · 07/07/2007 23:22

dlamis Huge congratulations to you hun
mb Thomas too has gone off foods that he once loved, big one for us is grapes, before he would eat bucket loads now only strawberries (must admit that I have started doing custard every day cos he will eat stewed apple or mushed banana without noticing it like that) Tom's faves are rice or pasta with peas and sweetcorn.
elf How is Evie after her fall is she sleeping through again now?
sm sorry that it wasn't good news from your appointment. We do "heads shoulders knees & toes" with Thomas, Head, shoulders & toes no problem knees he just looks at me like I am an idiot!
myjobismum how is the potty training going?

ELF1981 · 07/07/2007 23:47

Hello all.

Evelyn is better after her fall and my heart rate is back to normal, though am all panicky when we're out now in case she runs off while I'm trying to get her in the car.
Last night she woke up screaming but she had done a poo and she had a sore bum. Changed her, put her back in to bed and she was fine, came in ours at five and slept til eight. Tonigh she is in her room, touch wood it seems to be going fine!

I have worked out that I have not had a holiday lasting more than a day or two since December!! I was booking half a day off to get my hair done and noticed it on the holiday forms. No wonder I'm knackered!

DH's job has changed again, they're really screwing him around. I'm very angry with his boss, I keep telling DH I could have her in a fight, but he doesn't think it is a good idea!!! LOL.

I hope everybody is fine!

mawbroon · 08/07/2007 12:34

PMSL at you having your DH's boss in a fight Elf. You have always come across as very genteel. Scrapping with your DH's boss does not fit the image I have of you.

mawbroon · 08/07/2007 12:39

But perhaps you are like me. I often say to DH "oh so and so annoyed me so much that I wanted to punch him/her in the pus............... but of course I didn't"

Pus being a not very polite Scottish word for face.

However, the person who annoyed me so much would possibly only have noticed mild annoyance on my part and I would never punch anyone in the pus at all. [sensible emoticon]

stinkymalinki · 08/07/2007 20:27

Scary one today - drove over to my sisters (only a 20 min drive, so just about tolerable for my back), and as i pulled up, i turned round to find Joey had somehow managed to undo his 5-point harness from his car seat and was trying to climb over into the front seat

I know i definitely did it up correctly, but the button is really hard to press in (even i struggle sometimes!), so god knows how he did it, or at what point in the journey he did!!! Really hoping it was a one-off, as he didn't seem to comprehend what i was asking when i tried to get him to do it again, to show me how he'd done it, and he certainly didn't do it again coming home. Definitely time to deploy child locks on the rear doors from now on, just in case!

Yokefleet · 08/07/2007 22:11

sm I wonder how he has done it, at least you are all safe
(must say I have trouble doing Thomas's!)
Elf is your hubby still working at the same place that he was having problems with before? and get some holiday days booked!!
mb are you and the family settled in to the new house now?
Thomas is really clingy at the minute, wouldn't sit with daddy at all today, it is really hard work when he is like this as I just don't get anything done until he goes to bed then by the time I have got the chores done its time for bed! Hopefully just a short phase!

ELF1981 · 09/07/2007 08:19

MB, lol. I am usually very laid back, but when it comes to things messing with my family, I get very het up!! I'm going to be one of those annoying women at the school ground I fear if Evelyn tells me that somebody has been picking on her!

SM - gasp at the car seat incident. Evelyn hasn't managed to undo the button thingy yet in her car seat but she has worked out that if she breathes in, and slips one shoulder downwards, then she can get her arms free from the harness and can then reach across the back seat to get something. The first time she did it we were on a dual carriage way and I nearly died in shock and fear! DH thought I wasn't doing the seat up tight enough, so he strapped her in really tightly and she still managed to get out. Luckily she's only bothered about getting her arms free so far.

YF - yep, still the same place where he had all the other trouble, and still the same boss. She really is a piece of work. All the engineers have gotten together and written a complaint letter (not sure if it has been sent yet) because she is so horrible!

DLAMIS - how are you?

Myjobismum - how did the potty training go?

mawbroon · 09/07/2007 11:02

at the escaping toddlers. Elf that sounds like a typical bloke response ie blame the wife it's pretty much exactly what my dh would say.

YF - yes we are pretty settled now although there are still a few things needing sorted out. The sale of our old house should go through on Friday so that will be a big weight off my mind. An empty house is a worry!

Johnny has been running to get the potty now but it seems to be just after he's done a pee. It is showing me that he does know what the potty is for, but I think we are a long way off. My sisters potty training tip is to give them one M&M if they pee/poo in the potty. Her dd got wise to this very quickly and was able to pee out a little bit, get her M&M and then 10 mins later pee out some more in the hopes of getting another!! My sister took that as an indication that she had full bladder control!!

Yokefleet · 09/07/2007 15:35

MB lol at the M&M's

OP posts:
DontlookatmeImshy · 09/07/2007 21:22

Stinky - sounds like you've also got a little escapologist . Hope you get something sorted out with your accident and get your injury allowance without any hassle.

YF - ds has days where he's clingy like that too. Not always, but quite often it only afterwards that I realise he was teething or not feeling very well or something. It's hard work though at the time and it always seem to coincide with when I really need him NOT to be clingy as I have stuff to do urgently. They KNOW don't they lol.

Elf - sorry to hear dh is being messed about again. Hope it gets sorted.

mb - lol at johnny getting his potty.

Ds also get his hands out if his car straps. Last week he discovered how to open the car door from the inside. Fortunately we weren't actually travelling at the time!!! So the childlocks are now on but I'm not keen on them. Just being overparanoid but I don't like the idea of not being able to open the doors from inside. Otoh i guess the chances of ds opening the door is significanly higher than anyone needing to open it in an emergency.

Anyway, started feeling a bit queasy today, no sickness though, but lots of burping . It's starting to sink in that it's real now especially as I've got a doctors appointment on Wednesday afternoon. It's quite strange - I though 2nd time round would be a bit like yeah, been there done that whatever, but it's just as exciting as the first time Think I'm having a hormonal surge at the moment though as I keep wanting to tell dh to @*#! off. His crime?. Just being there. Poor man.

Yokefleet · 10/07/2007 07:02

dlamis ahh bless, couldn't help but laugh at your last sentence glad you aren't feeling too bad

OP posts:
mawbroon · 10/07/2007 13:38

Yes, I remember that feeling of annoyance at DH too. Anything he said just frustrated me no end and I actually headbutted the wall at one point because he annoyed me so much.

stinkymalinki · 10/07/2007 20:35

Our latest problem - Joey not wanting to go to bed and not drinking his evening milk anymore

Seen the Occupational Health Doctor today, who was very sympathetic to my cause, and has ok'ed the Temporary Injury Allowance benefit claim, so at least my wages won't be too drastic. Just waiting to hear further on the compensation claim now.

As an addition to our above problem, i'm wondering if its because, with my back being as it is and DH working long shifts, Joey isn't really going out much and running around to burn off any energy. Still, he should be ok next week, with our little holiday to the New Forest with my parents All that fresh air...!

ELF1981 · 12/07/2007 08:19

How's it going Stinky?

mawbroon · 12/07/2007 12:49

Oh blimey. Another trip to the doctor.....
Johnny has a yukky infection between his toes and the skin has ripped off leaving a really deep open sore. It smells like rotting flesh . Doc gave us canesten, so hopefully it will help. We have been 5 weeks in our new house and twice at the new surgery already. They will be thinking I'm one of those mothers who makes up illnesses for their child! (Can't remember the name)

I went to a mini meet up yesterday and met with nailpoish and lilliput. Anyone else met anyone else or are you all anon?

Hope everyone is doing fine.
