The thing is Elf, presumably your cm has policies on confidentiality, so she's not going to be able to discuss the way she deals with the other child with you which makes it difficult. You kind of need to know what the cm is doing when this other girl hurts Evelyn to discuss it with her, but cm really can't tell you. Do you know the other girls mother? Do you bump into her at drop off/collection time? I know that if it were kids in my care doing this, I would be looking to separate them until the other girl had learned to stop doing it. Ha, easier said than done though!

Johnny is back to his old self and ate 5 meals yesterday in a bid to catch up on all the eating he has missed out on. I might be reading too much into this, but today he was doing the sign for "sick" followed by the sign for "finished" and I really wondered if he was telling me that he wasn't sick any more. not sure though.

Anyone else's wee ones having a clingy phase just now? It might just be the disruption with all the packing/moving, but Johnny isn't happy if I am out of his sight. Our cars are parked behind each other on the driveway, with mine at the back. I put Johnny in his carseat in my car, then got into DH's car to move it out of the drive so I could get out, and when I got back into my car, Johnny was inconsolable, even though I hadn't gone out of his sight. I suppose he thought I was going to drive away and leave him all alone, so no wonder he was upset, the wee lamb.

stinkymalinki · 28/05/2007 01:18

Joey is being very clingy again too. I was informed they do go through it again at this age!

Potentially sorted things out on the work front - i'm applying for a new job! Still within nursing, but at a different hospital so DH and i should still be able to share childcare. Even if this doesn't work out, i've decided i want out of my current job, so i'll just keep trying until something comes up

(apologies for the lateness of the hour - i'm on a manky night shift again) SM x

ELF1981 · 28/05/2007 21:33

MB - I've seen how the CM deals with it as I'll often stay for a chat when I pick her up, and they'll get in a scuffle then.
However, on Friday, they were all kissey together, lol

Yokefleet · 31/05/2007 09:10

MB clingy phase here too at the moment but I think that is just due to his teething.
We have got the builders in this week putting a window in our kitchen/breakfast room it should have been completed yesterday but they are coming back today and again on Monday to plaster it I am fed up of all the dust and because it is in the kitchen we are clearing up several times a day just for the dust to settle again might have a take away tonight so that I don't have to venture into the kitchen!

How is the talking coming along with all the wee ones? Johnny is blethering whole sentences of nonsense, but hardly saying any words at all. He can make himself understood very clearly though. He wanted to wash his hands when we were in the bathroom the other day and it went like this. Pointing to the sink, then pressing the soap dispenser himself (I have to lift him obv as he can't reach), then he went "pssssh" for me to switch on the tap, then he put his finger round and round like the water going down the drain, and then he did the sign for "finished". No need for words there are all!!!

Johnny seems to be over his D&V and my letter of complaint re the dreadful breastfeeding advice I was given by NHS24 is being passed round the houses. I keep getting people phoning me telling me who they have passed the letter on to next.

The house move is looming and things are just a bit higglety piggelty all over the house just now. Johnny was terribly unsettled by it all yesterday and wouldn't nap at all at the new house, but that was my fault for not getting him into bed on time. It seems that the earlier he goes for nap (normally around 12) then the better he sleeps.

Yokefleet · 31/05/2007 14:10

mb same here re the talking, I would love to know what Thomas is chattering about as it sounds like a great conversation! Not many words at all but still coming and grabbing our finger to take us to what he wants! Throws a right strop if you don't follow him. Hope all goes well with the move and that you all settle in quickly

Not registered yet YF but hopefully it won't be long as the CRB check's back and I think they're one of the things that hold things up.

Glad to hear Johnny is feeling better and eating well again.

We have another clingy ds here too. And daddy is definately the favoured person at the moment (which I don't mind really cos it's nice for dh )

Not much talking here either. Or I should say lots of talking, but not much of it is dechipherable (sp??) Favouriyte word/sound at the moment is Choo Choo which is said every time he play with his Thomas train stuff which is most of the time lol

DontlookatmeImanervouswreck · 31/05/2007 14:19

Oh yes, the finger grabbing too. He gets so cross if I don't follow.

mawbroon · 03/06/2007 12:44

Up to my ears in boxes. Johnny gets upset everytime he sees things getting packed away and is constantly pulling at my top for milk. I am assuming that this helps comfort him a bit, so I would feel a meanie denying him. Doesn't make for quick packing though!!

Yokefleet · 05/06/2007 07:41

MB hope Johnny is settling down now, not long til the move, are you ready for it?
dlamin great news about the cm.
sm any news on the job front? How is Joey doing?
Elf are the girls still playing nicely?
Thomas has said a new word he pats his chest and says "ine" (mine) ah bless things are going to get tricky with the kids toys now I think!
Hope you are all having a good week, we have still got the builders in, should have been in for two days last week but they are still here it will be worth it once the window is in, I'm sure

We are nearly ready YF. Most of the stuff has been moved over to the new place already. DH is taking Friday off work and we are hiring a van for the furniture. Johnny is coping a bit better and has actually slept through for the last four nights. As he has been ill with something or another since Easter, he had only slept through a handful of times and I really feel the benefit of a few nights right through on the trot. DH said I was getting too soft with Johnny in the night, but this shows that he only wakes and cries in the night if there is something wrong.

DLAMIANW - Good luck getting the last bits and pieces sorted for the childminding. I was really nervous waiting for my CRB check coming back which is ridiculous!! I know I don't have any convictions, but I think I was worried that they might have muddled me up with someone else at the address or something! DH's took ages because his ten years worth of addresses included a couple abroad, so I guess they do really check it out properly.

I am taking Johnny to toddler group today for the last time. The poor wee lamb has had a raw deal going back and forth between the two houses and has just had to amuse himself whilst I am busy. There are plenty groups where we are moving to so I will have to make an effort to take him regularly.

mawbroon · 05/06/2007 11:54

I don't believe it!! The community centre where they hold the toddler group was broken into at the weekend and then set on fire . All the toys and equipment belonging to the toddler group are lost. Why would anybody do that? It makes me very We got our picture taken for the local paper standing outside the boarded up centre with sad faces. It is a huge centre though, so at least there is still plenty other space to keep the group going until things are sorted.

ELF1981 · 05/06/2007 12:47

MB - that sucks.

Me = poorly
Evelyn = poorly
DH = poorly

Our house sale fell through.

The house we were interested in has been sold.

Sigh.

mawbroon · 05/06/2007 12:59

I think you need a large whisky Elf!! I think I need one too but I don't drink any more.

Re the house, I'm sure you are familiar with the saying "What's for you won't go by you". Don't you just hate it when people say that to you!!??

I have been sat on my arse for nearly an hour MN. Johnny has been asleep all that time and I should have been packing, not MNing. I need a kick up the arse....

Yokefleet · 05/06/2007 17:38

Hope you are all feeling better soon Elf Is it your exams this month?
Another saying we use is "everything happens for a reason" and yes I want to slap anyone who says that to me too!
MB bad news about the toddler group
and I hope you have managed to get of MN and get something done!

stinkymalinki · 06/06/2007 10:20

I'm really sorry about your house falling through Elf We were in the same position with that new-build this time last year, and it is so gutting.

Well, we're having to put the baby-making on hold - i had a nasty accident at work Monday, and it looks like i've re-prolapsed the disc in my back! (and potentially the one above/below it) Very painful, and so pissed off as we'll probably have to cancel our honeymoon next week as i 'm currently unable to sit for more than 10 minutes so theres no way i'll manage 4 hours on an aeroplane. Just when you think things are a bit more sorted in life, something else always happens doesn't it? (and usually to me!!!)

I hope everyone else is ok? SM x (dosed up on heavy-duty painkillers!)

mawbroon · 06/06/2007 14:44

Hands up anyone who hasn't got a lot on their plate just now!!!

Stinky, that is such bad luck with your back and a real pisser about your honeymoon. Would you lose out if you cancelled or could you salvage something out of it?

Elf, have you made that docs appointment yet?

stinkymalinki · 07/06/2007 13:39

We should get the money back by claiming on the holiday insurance, but still a pain in the ass!

Just weighing up the pros and cons of using said honeymoon money to pay privately to get my back sorted (if it comes to that!), as the NHS waiting lists are horrendous, and you don't get any perks for being staff!!

DH also thinks i should look into making a claim against my employers, as it was an 'industrial accident'. Not sure whether tis more hassle than its worth, especially given my issues with them already at the moment, but i'll see how things pan out.

Of course, on top of all this, poor Joey's suffering - no holiday now, and a crippled mummy that can't pick him up and he's too little to understand why

DontlookatmeImshy · 07/06/2007 20:55

MB - That's rotten news about your toddler group.
Hope your packing and everything is going ok, and the move goes smoothly.

Elf - Sorry to hear about your house falling through.

Stinky - Sorry to hear about your back/honeymoon situation.

stinkymalinki · 08/06/2007 21:17

mini-yay! Although the honeymoon's definitely now off due to my back, i've managed to salvage the situation slightly and book us a week in Cornwall next week - at least then my little boy (and probably my big one) can have a nice time building sandcastles and eating ice cream, whilst i lie on the beach recovering and catching up on my book-reading (and tan!). Every cloud has a silver lining, and all that! Have a good weekend All, SM x

Yokefleet · 09/06/2007 09:00

Sorry to hear about your back again SM I am glad that you have managed to salvage something from your honeymoon. I hope you all have a lovely time
Builers have finished putting a bay window in for me but have now started on the conservatory, which is great really but it means that Thomas can't play in the back garden cos of big holes/tools etc and he can't play on the front either because of the huge skip (it's turning into one of those jobs that you wish you had never started)
ELF hope you and yours are feeling better now.
mb everything going well with the move?
dlamis Hope you are all ok too.
We are going to a local chinese for lunch then to the "SpringWatch" show thats here today and tomorrow. Then we are going to have a kick around on the beach, let Thomas blow off a bit of steam then I have having a girlie night out with my sister I haven't done this since Thomas was born and I can't wait We were supposed to go a couple of months ago but that night we talked ourselves out of it as it was raining and I am glad we didn't go because that night was one of the nights that Thomas started being poorly

OP posts:
Yokefleet · 12/06/2007 09:06

Thomas is off again he has been awake most of the night for the last two nights so I am a waking zombie at the moment. Hope everyone else is ok.

ELF1981 · 13/06/2007 09:08

Sorry to hear about poorly babies and tired poorly mummies.
I'm still poorly, got a docs appointment tomorrow. Luckily am off work now on study leave, but finding it difficult to study. Yesterday I fell asleep in the afternoon for two hours

mawbroon · 13/06/2007 13:23

Sorry to hear that there are still illnesses all round. We woke up on the morning of our move to find Johnny fast asleep in a puddle of sick which is just what you want on moving day. Luckily the sickness was a one off but he is still doing dodgy nappies now and again the wee soul.

Guess what

Johnny can walk

He did 30 steps across our kitchen this morning and he was proud as punch and gave himself a round of applause!

ELF1981 · 13/06/2007 14:46

YAY JOHNNY!!!!!
