wow yay Johnny!! There will be no stopping him now MB
Hope he is feeling better now & how is the move going?

Elf Are you feeling any better yet? Hope you get sorted at the Drs today

Thomas is coughing through the night but for the first night this week he has slept through without crying out so hopefully he is on the mend. I might actually manage this night out with my sister if both our kids are fit on Saturday but I won't hold my breath

Well done Johnny!!

Very of your house move mawbroon, as we sold our house 3 months ago but each of the 2 houses we tried to buy has fallen through. Now our buyers say they want to complete soon and we have nowhere to go. DH is working abroad for a month so I'm meant to be trying to find somewhere to rent, but nowhere will take pets - we have quite a large dog. Should be looking on estate agents websites now but much more fun on MN!

Alice is talking quite a bit now, just one word at a time but she gets her meaning across. One of her first words was 'mine', which I hear constantly as she and dd1 squabble over toys! They do play nicely most of the time though.

Hope the poorly babies get well soon.

DontlookatmeImshy · 15/06/2007 21:54

Well done Johnny

YF isn't it wonderful when they finally sleep through.

Dh and I were away overnight last weekend and MIL babysat and resettled him and since then he has slept through 3 times this week. I'm not sure whether it's just coincidence or not but I am still in shock and making the most of it in case it doesn't last.
Trouble is when he sleeps through he wants to get up at 5.30am gggrrrrrrrrr.

mawbroon · 17/06/2007 13:54

Hope everyone is doing well. Don't know about your weather, but ours is absolutely rotten and we have hardly been out for what seems like days on end!
Gosh I need a holiday and there's no chance whatsoever for the next while anyway. Johnny is walking really well and now wriggles to get down and walk if I am carrying him. He is also testing the boundaries in the new house. He knew very well in the old house not to touch the oven or open the fridge, but he seems to be just making sure that the rules are the same here - which of course they are!! We have a lock on the fridge, but he can open it now. Apart from fridge contents ending up on the floor, I am worried that he might get into the box of eggs or stick his fingers into salad cream or mayo and end up with a dreadful allergic reaction.

We are off out with SIL and PILs for a fathers day meal which will be nice and means I don't have to cook tonight.

Yokefleet · 19/06/2007 08:34

ELF Are you feeling better hun? Hope the revision is going well too.

MB Hope you are all settling in well to your new home.

Not much happening here at the minute, Thomas is climbing up ladders left right and centre whilst we have got the builders in His words are now, No, ma, dad, tree, shoes, light, wow, oh the problem is he says no, shakes his head but means yes!

Had my first exam yesterday, it was TERRIBLE, I'm deffo going to have to resit!
Evelyn was poorly on Sunday, she was sick at lunch, then in the car on the way home - it was EVERYWHERE.
Must go study now for my exam tomorrow

YF - lol at the no and shaking of head but meaning yes.

Hi myjobismum, welcome to the thread
I'm mum to Evelyn, born 6th Oct '05
I havent started potty training yet, she has had a poo on the potty but totally by accident! I was going to start looking for advice as to when she is ready.

YF - the exam today was better than Monday, feeling a little more confident with this, but who knows. I'm 100% sure that my exam on Monday is a fail though and I'll need to re-sit, but hey ho!!

I noticed tonight when getting Evelyn ready for bed, she had a little rash. I'm hoping its just heat spots, going to see what they look like later, hope its not chicken pox, eeek!

Hi myjobismum. My ds Johnny was born 21/10/05. My job is mum too and I am also a childminder. We have just moved house so I don't have any mindees just yet, but will do once we are settled in.
Potty training? Johnny only took his first steps a fortnight ago and I think he would find it physically very difficult to get onto the potty! I do sit him on it or on the toilet training seat, but I don't think he really knows what it's for.

Hope you are feeling a bit better Elf and that your exams weren't too stressful.

Johnny's sleep has been rubbish for a few weeks since he had that awful virus. I was soft on him feeding him in the night because of all the disruption of moving and of course he was getting to like his middle of the night feeds very much. The poor soul just got Daddy in the night for two nights then he decided to go back to sleeping through last night seeing Daddy doesn't have what it is he was after. Hopefully that's him got the message now!!

I will have to rethink what we are having for tea. Would you believe that the jarred pesto I bought has egg in it fgs so no use for Johnny. I used to make my own, we had loads of basil in the greenhouse at the old house, but I haven't got round to growing any here yet and the snails ate the couple of plants that we brought. Will need to get some nice windowsill pots for inside I think.

Yokefleet · 21/06/2007 16:50

mb must be a nightmare with the egg allergy. Glad Johnnys sleep seems to be settling down again, it seems so much harder to get up to them in the night after you are used to them sleeping through I think.
Elf If it is a fail do you have to resit them all or just the failed one iyswim. How are Evie's spots/rash? Thomas has had a heat rash alot over the last few weeks too.
mjim Thank you (and I am a very proud mummy ) I haven't even considered potty training yet not sure that I could keep Thomas still enough at the moment. He is into everything and climbing over anything!
dlamis is ds still sleeping through for you? (got my fingers crossed for you as I type)
ponto hope you get a house sorted soon good to hear that Alice is doing well.

OP posts:
Yokefleet · 21/06/2007 16:51

oh and we have a new word from Thomas we also now have "oh dear" he is also blowing us kisses (well kind of )

OP posts:
ELF1981 · 21/06/2007 20:28

If I fail, I only have to resit the paper I failed, not both papers, woohoo!

DontlookatmeImshy · 21/06/2007 20:38

Elf - hope you are feeling better.Sorry to hear you don't think your exam went well. I had one (costing one) that I thought was horrendous but I passed, so don't give up hope until yet.

Hi myjobismum - know what you mean about enjoying toddlerhood. It just gets better every day as they learn new thing and can interact more. I used to get annoyed when ds was tiny and my mum used to say "Oh they get more interesting when they get older", but now I understand what she meant. I'm considering trying potty training with ds too as he quite often tugs at hisnappy as if he wants it off. When we do take it off for him like at bathtime helooks down at hiswilly and then wees on the floor, so he obviously knows its coming before it actually does iyswim.

MB- hopeJohnny keeps up with the sleeping through again, and hope you are allsettling intothe new house.

YF - lol at blowing kisses, that is so sweet.

Well ds has gone back to waking once during the night but I don't mind to much as itmeans he then sleeps till 6.30 rather than 5.30. I find it more tiring to have him sleep through and then get upearly since I still wakeup in the night whether he doesor no. Oh well, I just keeptelling myself it won't go on forever.................will it?!!

He seems to be having one of those developmental spurts at the moment where suddenly he is doing so many new things all at once. I can't keep up lol.

ELF1981 · 21/06/2007 21:08

DLAM - costing... booo, hiss, evil!!!!

Yokefleet · 22/06/2007 06:40

DLAMIS I think Thomas is having a spurt too (I'm exhausted!)

myjobismum - sounds to me like all the signs are there. Go for it! Johnny gets very engrossed when he is playing and I bet peeing and pooing are the last thing on his mind and he will be in nappies for yonks!!

We were out shopping today and he was signing bird and car and squawking like goodness knows what. He was "telling" me about the enormous seagull sitting on top of a car. Funny the things that catch your imagination when you are 20 months!

Now we have moved much closer to family, we have arranged a week about babysitting rota with SIL so we get out once a fortnight. It was our first turn last night and we walked around Edinburgh city centre and went to a pub that I used to go to for trad music sessions. It seems like a lifetime ago but it was nice to get out even though I kept wondering where Johnny was. First time dh and I have been out on our own since before Johnny was born .

Woohoo, my childminding registration certificate came through yesterday. Still need to sort out a few bit like insurance but otherwise ready to go. People keep telling me there's a shortage of childminders in our village so hopefully I won't have to wait too long for a mindee.

Hope you all have a good weekend

RedTartanLass · 24/06/2007 15:51

Hi All

Haven't posted here for ages, but have been lurking to make sure I keep up with the goss

Just fancied popping into the "safe" haven of my post-nantal group. After all I've "known" some of you for over 2 years!!

Same as Elf, MB and Ponto trying to move house, but no luck. Trying to get new job, no luck. Och sorry just a bit down in the dumps. Is it because it is a rainy miserable June and we're all pssd off!

Yokefleet · 24/06/2007 17:12
