Happy Birthday to Joey!

YF We've tried all sort of different bed times. He still wakes between 6.00 & 6.15 now.It makes no difference. Arrghhhh.

Yokefleet · 14/03/2007 09:19

dlamis That wasn't really what I wanted to hear!!! lol

DLAMIS - is that an initial consulation regarding the allergy or are they going to give him his MMR then? Hope these teeth come through soon. I remember Johnny had awful bother with his, but now we are only waiting for four more teeth and then that's them all. Have you tried the teething powders? They seemed to help Johnny a bit although I couldn't help feeling that with the big back teeth it was a bit like farting against the thunder as they say.

YF - sorry, can't really help with the bedtime thing. Johnny has gone down at 7pm ever since he was around 3 months (not that he started sleeping through until a lot later) If he wakes after 6am then I treat it as the morning and he comes into our bed for breastfeeding followed by a carry on sitting on our heads etc, but if he wakes before 6am then he gets dealt with as if it were the middle of the night, ie ignored unless he is very persistant (not when he's ill of course). Often he does go back to sleep. I would say that 6.30pm until 6am is pretty good though.

Yokefleet · 14/03/2007 09:50

Thanks guys I will just have to go to bed earlier myself!!

OP posts:
ELF1981 · 14/03/2007 14:59

Evelyn goes to bed around seven - eight ish and will sleep through until seven.

I'm thinking of taking her to bed slightly earlier in the next few weeks to try to get her used to the clock change before it happens - when the clocks changed last, she was really tired really early and it took her a while to stop wanting to go to bed at six!

How does everybody do for daytime naps? Evelyn is still on a 2hr nap or 2x1hr naps a day - is this too much?

Yokefleet · 14/03/2007 15:33

Elf We changed from two naps (1 at 11 & 1 at 4pm) a while ago to one nap just after lunch but it didn't work for us as Thomas sometimes sleeps for 10mins sometimes an hour and this was the same with just one nap so we have gone back to 2 naps (gives me chance to get back on here )

OP posts:
stinkymalinki · 14/03/2007 20:12

Joey goes to bed between 7.30-8pm, and sleeps through till 7.30-8am usually. As for naps, he just has one, straight after lunch, usually for 2 hours. Works for us

As for the teething discussions, Joey's still only got 6 teeth! He hasn't had a new one come through for months! Mind you, he usually gets at least 2 come up at once. I suspect we're in for some sleepless nights once the rest decide to start coming through again - or should that be [groan]?!?

SM x

mawbroon · 14/03/2007 20:56

Sleepwise, Johnny goes from 7pm until 6 or 7am almost every night. Naptime is at 12noon and he sleeps anything from 1.5hrs to 2.5hrs on a normal day, but of course there are days when he will sleep 1hr or 3hrs and it's when I am least expecting it! Looks about the same amount of sleep as Evie I think Elf. Re the clocks changing, we are going to put him to bed at 6.30pm GMT on Saturday and 7pm BST on Sunday, so half an hour earlier each night. I am confident that he will adjust fairly easily. LOL just wait for my post on Sunday saying I've been up half the night.

We were at the local kids farm today. We were in the animal shed and this sheep bleated really loudly behind Johnny. He burst into tears the wee shame. Last time, it was the donkey that made him cry and the time before it was the horse!! Something makes me think that Johnny's not going to be a vet!

ELF1981 · 14/03/2007 21:42

Aw bless re the vet!

The person who was supposed to be seeing the house did not turn up, though DH told me that he'd told the agency from 5:00 on Wed, Thur or Fri, and the agency had said that was fine, DH was led to believe it would be today, but nobody confirmed back to him. So the appointment could be tomorrow, or they may have made me clean my house top to bottom for nowt!

The insurance co think they can fix my car (yay!) and they're dropping a courtesy car off tomorrow. It will be a three door which will be a bummer getting the car seat in and out!

mawbroon · 14/03/2007 21:48

Ooh that's annoying Elf. I hate waiting in for people who don't show - it is such a waste of time and makes me
I remember getting a courtesy car years ago when mine got rear ended. I was all excited thinking it would be much swisher than my old banger, but it wasn't!! OK it was newer, but it didn't even have a stereo.

Johnny has done a 360degree turn in his bed since we put him down at 7pm. Anyone considering a big bed yet for their LOs? I'm not!! We would be picking him up off the floor several times a night (or leaving him there)

ELF1981 · 14/03/2007 21:59

lol
Evelyn rolls too much to be considering putting her in her own bed, she's a manic sleeper!

Today I picked her up from the childminders, we walked to the bus stop (a ten minute walk) then took the bus for a couple of stops, then walked another ten/fifteen minutes. She had her little reigns on (dont trust her to hold my hand all that time!) and she's been in bed since then, worn out bless her!

mawbroon · 14/03/2007 22:08

That's excellent re the walking Elf. I am going to try so hard to get Johnny walking as much as possible once he can actually do it! I can see how it must just be so much easier to bundle toddlers into the buggy and never let them walk anywhere very far.

Yokefleet · 15/03/2007 08:22

SM Re teeth: at last count in October we were upto 14 but I can't put my fingers in anymore Whenever Thomas is grouchy my neice looks at me and says "its those blooming teeth again Auntie Hannah" bless

mb lol at the vet! I must see if we have a kids farm around us here. When we went up to Yorkshire a few weeks ago we took Thomas to "The Deep" (huge aquarium) he loved it when he was sat in his pushchair watching all the fish but as soon as we took him out he clung into us for dear life and screammed his head off back into his chair and he was fine again, following the fishes with his finger. They have a bubble lift there that you can go up through one of the huge tanks and as I watched Thomas he didn't even blink didn't want to miss a thing
Thomas always spins round through the night, I don't know what I'd do without the grobags! When would people normally move lo's into a big bed?

elf When we were trying to sell our house in Yorkshire it was about 50/50 for whether people would turn up or not
I think reins are fab! I know some people don't like them but Thomas would never hold my hand for long enough otherwise. I think it's lovely to see little ones out walking, I always try to give us extra time to get to places now so that Thomas can have a good walk (except on Saturdays when we go to the local chinese for lunch, I am just too hungry then! )

Well it looks like we aren't now going to wait until Xmas to start trying for another baby, dh is feeling old (only going to be 38 this year) and wants us to start straight away, I was at first as we are planning on knocking our house up a bit, (wall out for a large bay window & a conservatory) I wanted to wait until our house was all done as with the last pg I was so exhausted from really early on and felt so crap all the way through. So anyway dh is planning to start decorating the rest of the house at the weekend and I will keep trying to put him off a while longer with the trying for another little one. I really really do want another baby but I don't want all the extra stress like we had last time with relocating. He really p*ed me off with his comment about it would be easier on me 2nd time around as I won't be working yes darling I sit down all day in front of the tv with a hot cup of coffee and little pixies come in and do all the cooking/cleaning/childcare/shopping/washing etc
oppss better go and do some of those chores now

P.S Thomas slept in until 7 this morning

stinkymalinki · 15/03/2007 20:28

Read your last post with great interest Yokefleet - we too were going to start trying again at Christmas, but DH is going to be 40 next week and he's suddenly decided that we should start trying now too! I'm wondering on part if its because my friend's pregnant again, but i don't really mind. Joey was a 'happy accident', so not really done all this TTC before. Still, time will tell i suppose!

DontlookatmeImshy · 15/03/2007 21:09

MB - I think the appointment is just for the jab. No-ones mentioned any consultations. I'lljust be glad when it's done and out of the way. And do you know what?I am so stupid! I had completely forgotten about teething powders despite getting through loads of them when his first teeth came through and they were great. Rushed out to the chemist after I read your post earlier lol and he has had them tonight insteadof Calgel so we'll see how it goes. Can't be any worse than the last few nights

Elf-hope your viewers do turn up eventually. It's a nightmare trying to keep the house tidy and clean for people who don't turn up.

YF-dh is 38 here too, now he's got used to the idea of trying for another one, he wants to get on with it. He's going to be disappointed this next month though as I don't want a due date of 25th Dec!

Anyway I'm was just about to go for an early night but dh has just changed telly channel and put the Comic Relief Apprentice thing on.

ELF1981 · 15/03/2007 21:37

Oooh, what it is with broody husbands! I caught DH saying to Evelyn "if we get this house darling, you could have a little brother or sister"!!!! When I thought I was pg the other week (jury still out btw!) he was quite excited. Hmmm!

Viewers never turned up but at least the house is clean!

mawbroon · 16/03/2007 13:52

OOOOOOh Elf - I didn't know that the jury was still out, I thought it was negative!? Imagine if we all got pregnant at the same time Johnny has scuppered my chances for just now with his increased feeding. Ovulation has disappeared this month and is nowhere to be found!

DLAMIS - I would be asking about tests if I were you. We are now under the consultant at the hospital and can phone to go and see them if Johnny has a major reaction (vomitting and skin reactions are just to be managed at home) or any breathing problems. They are going to test him every year until his antibody levels are low enough to consider a food challenge. We also have a figure for the test results, so if there were any sitaution where a medic needed to know how allergic he is, there is no "well, he came out in hives" etc etc , there is a definite answer if you see what I mean.

Johnny passed out whilst breastfeeding earlier (he was very persistant - don't think he wants a sibling!) so I had to put him to bed with no lunch. He's now sitting eating his lunch at a very weird time of day for him!! At least I know it's not going to put him off his tea!

ELF1981 · 17/03/2007 11:17

Jury is in now! I had tested and it was negative, but up until yesterday I was 12 days late. So I re-tested Thurs night, got another negative. Then just to mock me for panicking and taking another test, my a/f arrived yesterday!

Dh is broody though (scary!)

MB - I hope the late lunch didn't spoil the dinner!

Yokefleet · 18/03/2007 08:48

Hello, not had chance to catch up on the thread but just wanted to wish you all a "Happy Mothers day"

OP posts:
ELF1981 · 19/03/2007 13:20

Bit late, but hope everybody had a happy mothers day!

mawbroon · 19/03/2007 14:28

Hello all. We had a nice mothers day. Johnny made me a lovely card on the computer. They learn very quickly these days, eh?

Johnny took some steps yesterday with the aid of a walker. . Anyone else's still not walking yet or is it just us?

I am minding a 15 month old boy today and will have his sister after school too. He seems to be on pretty much the same routine as Johnny so the two of them are both asleep just now, the tea is prepared and his little book which I write all the day's stuff in is up to date. Yippee.

Yokefleet · 19/03/2007 15:32

mb you are soooooooooooo organised!

OP posts:
ELF1981 · 19/03/2007 20:24

I got a card which sings which Evelyn loves to hear and she keeps opening it to hear it sing! It's a cute song though "my mums the loviest mum that will ever be, I'm lucky to have her and she's lucky to have me" or something like that!! I also got two CD's - Justin Timberlake for my own ears, and Most Magic for in the car with her!

Had a viewer to see the house today - I was not prepared. I got the call at work asking if it would be okay at five. DH picked Evelyn up, I dashed home from work to tidy up, throwing things here there and everywhere! She seemed impressed though, so will have to see how it goes!

MB great news on the walking! There will be no stopping him now!!

ELF1981 · 19/03/2007 20:30

stinkymalinki - I have you to thank for this...

I told DH about Joey going for a wee on the potty (in a 'isnt that cool' type of way) and when I came home from college I noticed a potty had been put in the living room. I dont know how DH has been teaching her, but she's done her second poo in the potty tonight! She still pees all over the floor / her feet when she has her nappy off, but she'll sit for a poo, strange girl!

stinkymalinki · 19/03/2007 20:47

Ahh now, i'm having the reverse issue - Joey will now quite happily sit there for a wee, but will not do a poo in it! Yesterday he even sat there clenching! The second i gave up waiting and put a clean nappy on him, he filled it Mind you, he's still only a week off being 18 months old() so i suppose its far too early to be properly potty training just yet. At least he's getting used to the idea that potty=wee.
