I love the words thing! But know it will wear off when it gets to sentences...Lydia is pretty good so far we have: Mum, Dad, Nanna, juice, toast, please, Mark (my brother), ted, shoes, car Bird & bizarrely enough she says Squirrel! She has just started putting 2 words together... Baby Book & Book Please, I filled up the first time she swaggered up to me holding up a massive book and said 'book please'...Bless

Yokefleet · 07/03/2007 18:16

NN aahh bless we spend all this time getting our little ones to walk and talk then in a few years we'll be telling them to sit down and shut up!! lol at squirrel!

Hope your ear gets better soon Elf. Earches/infections are nasty nasty.

Ds has been talking all day, non-stop, I've never heard him chat so much. Most of it is undecipherable, but we have mum, dad, daddy, d (which = duck lol), guinea pig (in-ig), and "what's that" or somethimes just "that?" accompanied by pointing.

And now he's well again and after a couple of horrendous nights where he wouldn't settle unless he was permanently attached to me, suddenly last night he slept through again. Woohoo.

mawbroon · 07/03/2007 21:06

Hmm, not any words yet which are 100% but some days he doesn't stop blethering the whole day!! He also is doing well with the signing. Any time he sees a cup of tea, or feels the heat from the radiator or sees that the oven is on, he signs "hot" and keeps away. He makes animal noises too. I have heard him tweeting when he sees birds and miawoed for the first time today when we saw a cat!! We were at my SILs house today and he was very excitedly signing "horse" "horse" "horse" and I said that I couldn't see a horse, but he wouldn't stop and was pointing behind me. I turned round, and there peeking out from the top of the chair behind me was a hobby horse! It's amazing!

The GP checked his hips and ankles today and said they were fine. That's what I thought, but no harm in getting it checked.

ELF1981 · 07/03/2007 21:33

earache getting slightly better but still really sore!

Evelyn's words - mummy, daddy, mamar, ganda (for my dad) lawla (for my sister) tae (for my other sister) dog, cat, bird, eye, yes, no, bab-bars, bye, cheese, please, milk, keys and a few others. She babbles still in a way where I wonder if I will ever understand her, but I'm sure we will get there.

At the mo, when we're going out in the car, we have to give her the car keys or she wont walk down the driveway, then she has to put the key into the door or she has a real paddy!!

Was anybody elses little one off their food after their MMR?

ELF1981 · 07/03/2007 21:35

She can also say most of the kids names at the CM, plus the CM's name which I think is really sweet! She has such a funny way of saying "Jessica"!

Yokefleet · 08/03/2007 07:39

what chatty babies you all have!
elf re MMR, yes Thomas was off his food between 6-15 days after the MMR.

OP posts:
mawbroon · 08/03/2007 08:52

Elf it would take more than an MMR to put Johnny off his food!
The doc yesterday said he was "well nourished" bloomin cheek, eh?

Johnny is currently sticking his face onto the sofa and blowing big farting raspberries. I have to be all disapproving of course to discourage this behaviour, but it's really quite hilarious.

nannynickers · 08/03/2007 10:26

Are any of you members on Ringo? If you are her is Lydia doing some words

Yokefleet · 08/03/2007 15:34

MB lol at raspberries
NN What is ringo?? I haven't heard of it.

OP posts:
nannynickers · 08/03/2007 16:13

Johnny sounds like much more fun than most of my friends!

Ringo is a photosite - kinda like Myspace but you can set it so only your friends can see your pictures and it updates you everytime one of your friends adds new photo's or videos, so for nosey people like me it's truly fabulous!

ELF1981 · 11/03/2007 15:54

Its very quiet here recently, hope everybody is okay!

ponto · 11/03/2007 22:00

Hi Elf and everyone, I am still here, but have been v busy with work and househunting so my MN time is sadly limited at the moment. Babysitting tonight though so am free to browse.
Alice is starting to say a few words, mostly Mummy, no, book, dog, duck, woof, quack (I think my mum has been training her in animal noises!) I think she says juice and shoes too (quite similar though). Her first two word sentence was 'daddy no' when I tried to pass her to him one day! He was a bit . She's still very much a mummy's girl, I have to carry her round much of the day when I'm home - she reaches up to me and says 'baby' which is what she calls herself. I'm really glad of my hip seat now as she's quite a hefty lump these days. I am also getting quite good at cooking one-handed! I don't mind the carrying though as dd1 wasn't very cuddly as a baby so Alice is compensating me for it

mawbroon · 12/03/2007 09:12

Hi Ponto, nice to hear from you. LOL at the one handed cooking. I am very good at that too as Johnny gets a bit clingy and wants up the whole time just at that time of day.

We haven't had the best of weekends. We went to vISIt my parents on Friday night, leaving at 7pm so that Johnny could sleep in the car on the way there (2 hr drive). He was fine and transferred into his travel cot no problem when we arrived. Then he woke at 11.30pm and was a bit short of breath and with a temperature. I gave him calpol and a quick breastfeed and he went back to sleep until 3am when he was a bit more breathless and slightly more distressed by it. I calmed him and got him back to sleep again. Then he woke at 5am and could hardly breathe and each breath in and out was making a honking noise and he was very distressed. I called NHS24 and they sent us to the local GP. They said it was croup and gave him a dose of steroids and some antibiotics and he seems to be on the mend, but he just wants to breastfeed constantly. [ Remember our conversation about AB's and penicillin YF? I mentioned my allergy to them and they thought it wise not to give him penicillin given that my allergy results in breathing problems! ] He has had croup one time before, but it was nothing like this. My parents live in a rural area and this episode made me very glad that I don't drink any more as we were able to get there in the car without worrying about being over the limit. DH hadn't been drinking either, but it's the "what ifs" that worry me! Any way, I know he's not 100% as he is of his food. Johnny off his food is unheard of!! I suspect that it's more that he is too full of breastmilk to eat anything rather than he is off his food!!

Sorry about the typos. There are little fingers twiddling on the keyboard as I type.

Yokefleet · 12/03/2007 10:44

Hi Ponto, good to hear that you and Alice are doing well
mb Glad that Johnny is on the mend now but that must have been a nightmare for you. The thing with the AB's shocked me really, Just glad that Thomas took to them ok and our Dr (although very old and slow) did tell us to call him and he would be straight out to us if Thomas did have any problems I too don't drink since having Thomas (not that I drank much before then anyway) Hope Johnny is back to normal with his food soon

OP posts:
ELF1981 · 12/03/2007 12:29

Aw MB, that must have been frightening. I hope Johnny is back to his usual self soon.

Evelyn has been poorly here. I think it is just a reaction to her MMR jab, she keeps burning up and yesterday she was sick all over the living room, and last night she woke up and was sick in our bed and on route to the bathroom! She is with my mum this morning, she seems better her temp has gone down anyway.

The other night DH had a car accident (just him and his friend in the car). He wasn't going very fast, but did a lot of damage to our car & another car none-the-less! I had spent a couple of panicked days worrying because I had forgotten to notify the insurance company about his speeding ticket and I was worried they'd invalidate my insurance, but I have heard from them this morning that this is not the case now, and they're going to pay out, phew!

We have got our first viewer on our house on Wednesday, so got to get all cleaned up! Luckily I have Wed off work.

Nice to see you again Ponto

DontlookatmeImshy · 12/03/2007 20:25

Ponto - ds is the same -wanting to be carried around all the time. He then points at where he wants to go and says "der"(there).Yesterday he pointed his way all the way through the hall, into the kitchen and into his high chair when he wanted his dinner.

Blimey MB - thatmust have given you quite a fright. Hope he's back to his normal self very soon.

Hope your dh is ok Elf,and good luck with the house viewing on Wednesday. Can't remember whether you've said already-have you found anywhere youlike yet or are you waiting until you get an offer on yours first.

Ds is suffering with his teeth at the moment, he'sclinging to me like a limpet and night time sleeping is completely messed up.Poor little fella. He's fine apart from that though.
We are still waiting fornews about his MMR though despite me keeping chasing it up. Am started to get a bit peed off now.

ELF1981 · 13/03/2007 12:52

I cant work out if it is Evelyn's MMR or her teeth causing her the problems, but she's having a tough time. Last night she would only sleep on me or me holding her, and at three in the morning she woke up holwing, crying her eyes out, proper body wracking sobs and it took me at least half an hour to calm her down - nothing helped her, she screamed when she lay down, when I held her, when I tried feeing her, singing to her (understandable really!) and soothing her. Poor soul.
She cheered up today (she's fine in the days its the nights she is having trouble with) when I took her to the CM (first day back). Bless her.

mawbroon · 13/03/2007 22:27

Poor wee Evie, Elf. Do they have nightmares at this age? I'm not sure.

DLAMIS - that is really dragging on about the MMR isn't it.

Johnny is back to his old self today and is full of beans and mischief. He is cruising a lot, but he keeps falling over and has an assortment of bruises and scrapes on his head. Yesterday I gave him a snack of cheese and for some reason, I just handed it to him to eat in the kitchen instead of putting him in his highchair like I usually do. This morning, I saw him eating cheese and wondered where he had got it from until I found he had stashed it in the trolley where I keep all the placemats etc. He's been watching the squirrels out the window too much!!

ELF1981 · 14/03/2007 07:55

LOL. Evelyn hides her food places as well and it takes me ages to find out where her new stash is!

Last night she woke for a feed at half eleven then she slept through, woohoo!!

Oops Sorry!

Yokefleet · 14/03/2007 08:32

Elf at good nights sleep. Glad your dh & friend are ok after the accident. Good luck with todays viewing
mb lol at Johnnys stash! Thomas likes bread sticks and always finds one stashed somewhere, it used to be in a large vase in a glass cupboard in the kitchen but we put a lock on that door to stop that after we found mushed up cucumber in there!
dlamis Hope you hear something soon on the MMR.

Thomas has started waking earlier in the morning, used to be us waking him at 7am to take dh to the train station but this last week Thomas has been awake around 6am instead What time do you put your lo's to bed on a night? We usually go up with him for his bath at 6pm do bath/story/bed so he is asleep for 6.30pm ish. Have tried to knock this back so that he is going down at 7pm but he just gets too tired and past it really so then it takes much longer for him to settle, any ideas?

Well someones ears must have been burning at the hospital because Ifinally got aphone call from them yesterday to arrange anappointment, but it's not until 2nd April.

Had a rotten night last night.Ds woke at 11.00, 12.30, 3.30, 4.30, 5.30, 6.10. I'm pretty sure it's his teeth as I can feel at least 2 molars coming through so I'm trying to be sympathetic but this morning I'd had enough and shouted at him Then as if I didn't feel bad enough already, when I picked him up and the first thinghe did was give me 3 big kisses with this concerned look on his face as if to say "It's alright mummy."

So guess who's going to get spoilt rotten today to make up for having such a mean mummy.
