MB How is Johnny today?
DLAMIS Good luck with trying for No2 We aren't going to try until Christmas (must admit I can't imagine having another yet )
ELF has the cream started to work its magic on the rash yet? My dh bought my pg tests on the last three times when I was late and said that he always got funny looks at the check out.

Thomas is back to normal now just got one more dose of Penicillan to take and then he is done. We have been having a wall knocked out of our Kitchen the last couple of days and we are covered in dust everywhere so dh is just going to take ds for a walk whilst I try and rid of it

Have a good weekend

Good luck for everybody TTC . We're still aiming to wait till after Joey's 2nd birthday, but i could feel my resolve weakening the other day when my friend announced she's pregnant again (her DS is now 22 months). It doesn't help that its really manic at work at the mo, so the thought of maternity leave is beginning to appeal

ELF1981 · 03/03/2007 22:11

Hello!
Me!
Sorry for doing a runner!! I shut down the PC and went to bed last night when DH got home, and have been busy today!
DH brought back the clear blue pregnancy test, the one that spells it out, and it said not pregnant!

mawbroon · 03/03/2007 22:45

How do you feel about that Elf? I tested a couple of paranoid times when Johnny was quite little. I always felt disappointed when they were negative, even though in my head I knew that it was too soon for another.

Johnny was much better today, in fact almost back to his usual cheerful self which was nice to see. We have to go and buy a new washing machine tomorrow as ours has died a death. It sort of works, but I am not confident about the door staying locked whilst the cycle is running and the thought of Johnny being able to open it and put his arm, or worse, his head in whilst it's spinning just makes me feel ill.

stinkymalinki · 04/03/2007 20:29

Sorry to hear about your washing machine Mawbroon - i hope you get a new one sorted soon. I'd be lost without mine!

Well its been a proud day in the Malinki household today - Joey followed me into the bathroom (as always!), and i took his nappy off and sat him on his potty and he actually did a wee in it for the first time ever Usually he just sits there looking really bemused!

Take care All, SM x

mawbroon · 04/03/2007 21:15

Well done Joey! We have sat Johnny on the trainer seat several times too, but he's not very sure about it!!

We got a new washing machine today and got a bargain ex display model for about £150 less than it should have been. Yippee

Yokefleet · 05/03/2007 08:31

SM Well done Joey! Aren't our little ones getting big now!!

ELF1981 · 05/03/2007 08:35

I feel fine about it tbh, there are so many reasons why now is not the right time - DH job, wanting to move, being in the middle of my college course etc as well as other things. I was shaking with the first test!
I really dont want to ttc until Evelyn is about three/four. People seem to think its unusual for such an age gap, and I'm sure going back to sleepless nights / nappies etc after such a lag will be difficult, I think that is right for our family.

I have the worst ear-ache today, had it for two days now and I'm stuck at work, busy and in pain

MB - excellent news on the washer! We want a new one and I want a child-lock at all times, I'm fed up of taking the baked beans out the washer. DH went shopping and brought loads of tin stuff as he thought the cupboard was empty, he was most annoyed when I took the stuff out the washer!

SM - wow, great news re the potty! My mum brought Evelyn a potty that makes a noise etc, so far all she does is chuck things in it to make it sing. We haven't tried to teach her what it is for, but she does like to hear the noise!

mawbroon · 05/03/2007 09:07

Hope you earache improves soon Elf. I would prefer a three year age gap between babies but I am ten years older than you are (assuming that 1981 isn't just some random number you put on your name!!) so I just have to get on with it. I would like three (or more if we won the lottery ) but if it takes as long ttc this time round as it did with Johnny then I will get my three year gap!

The new washing machine is great. Really quiet and very clever, it's like a blooming computer! I have vowed to clean the door seal every time I use it and run regular maintainence washes . We'll see.... Elf can you not just put a child lock on the cupboard with the tins in it? Is there any danger that one day someone might accidentally run the machine with all those tins in? What a racket that would make!

Yokefleet · 05/03/2007 09:28

A couple of weeks ago our washer was making an awful noise when Thomas's clothes were in the machine, we had lost our remote control for the tv in our bedroom and I was sure I was going to find it in the washer but luckily no it was just the clasps on his dungrees! but it did make me panic!

OP posts:
mawbroon · 05/03/2007 09:54

LOL YF those dunger fasteners do make a terrible noise! Our remote control from the bedroom is always found under the bed. It's a divan so there's not a lot of room, but Johnny still manages to shove it under there! He doesn't actually know what the remote does but he likes to press the buttons and watch the wee red light come on.

ELF1981 · 05/03/2007 12:41

Child locks - she can open them. We put up a stair gate between the kitchen and living room... she can open that too

mawbroon · 05/03/2007 12:50

Crikey that's Miss Houdini that you have there Elf!! I suppose I should be grateful that Johnny is still mostly down at floor level. He hasn't even really tried to get past the childproofing at all and the longer it is until he tries it, then the closer he will be to being able to understand and reason.

I was looking at DH's weight chart (MIL kept it all those years!) and at this age, DH was 3.5lbs heavier than Johnny is now. Johnny is 25lbs 9oz and is looking pretty chunky, so goodness knows what DH was like! Johnny has 3 weeks to learn to walk properly to equal his Dads achievements and I don't see it happening myself! How much longer am I going to be lugging this boy around for?!! You should see my biceps!

DontlookatmeImshy · 05/03/2007 14:32

Well done Joey, we tried ds on one of those seats that goes under the toilet seat but he objected very loudly so we have tried again just yet. Don't want to traumatise the poor lad before he's even started.

Glad you got the result you wanted Elf. I think a 3-4 year gap is fine. I'd probably go for a slightly longer gap myself if the old body clock wasn't ticking quite so loudly,

Lol at Evie putting Baked Beans in the Washer. Fortunately the door on ours won't open if it's switched off so ds has sofar been limited to removing and putting in odd socks and pants and stuff.

DontlookatmeImshy · 05/03/2007 14:34

lol MB - just seen your earlier post about gaps between children. Looks like we are the same age. We oldies will just have to crack on with it won't we.

Yokefleet · 05/03/2007 16:55

MB it was about a week later when we actually found the remote, well I say we found it was actually Thomas who got it out of a cupboard we don't normally use in our en-suite as we know that Thomas can get in it. Never occured to us to even check in there for it.

OP posts:
mawbroon · 05/03/2007 18:14

DLAMIS - oldies how VERY dare you....

ELF1981 · 05/03/2007 19:42

Been to the doctors, now on a course of anti biotics for an ear infection - and there was me saying I wouldn't go 'cause I'm hard!!

MB - you're right, I was born in 81, so I'll be 26 in September. I'd love to have more than two, but we think we'll just have one more. If I won the lottery though!

We've put our house on the market so I'm off to clean up before they come take the pics tomorrow!

Yokefleet · 06/03/2007 07:50

Elf hope the AB's kick in soon for you Have you had an offer accepted on the house you are wanting?
Why do you want the number of children that you want, do you know?? I have always wanted two (and I am one of two children) my dh always wanted three (he is also one of two) My logic was that I wanted company for my children but my dh doesn't know why he randomly picked out three. (Mind you dh has changed his mind as I am 29 and he is 37 and he has got a mental block about becoming a dad in his 40's)
Anyway better go as we have got a plumber coming this morning (yeah yeah should have been here last week to move a radiatior for us )

OP posts:
mawbroon · 06/03/2007 11:58

I don't even really know how many children I would like YF. I think probably three, but maybe more. Ask me again when I am run ragged looking after two!! I am one of five and although we fought like cats and dogs as kids, I can't imagine now only having one sibling, but I suppose whatever you grow up with is "normal" to you. I say I want three, but I feel that I haven't decided that for sure. I often joke to DH that having twins next would take away that decision of two or three for us!
Shouldn't jest, there are twins in the family.

ELF1981 · 06/03/2007 12:41

RE number of children -
DH & I were both "One of Three" (we both have step siblings which makes me 1 of 5 and DH 1 of 8!) but in the house for both me and DH there were three kids.
We were both middle kids and really hated it (illogical I know).
So we said we'd either have two (as I still think siblings rock) or four (which we probably wouldn't be able to afford) so 2 it is!

YF - re the house, we have registered our interest, cant put an offer in until we have an offer in on our house, which is due to go on the market today!

Yokefleet · 06/03/2007 17:24

I said that I bet we would have twins next time as they are in our family so that dh got his own way! lol

Er, hello. Do I know you?

Yokefleet · 07/03/2007 17:33

What are your little ones saying at the moment??? All I get from Thomas is "no"(with head shaking)"mum" rarely "dad" "hiya" and occasionally "light" It seems ages ago since we had any new words would love to hear a "yes" now and again! lol
