Wow! He's a contortionist! Lydia was a footling breach they told me if my waters broke her feet would fall out! Imagine the scenario shopping in tesco feet dangling out of the bottom of your skirt! Not nice!

I'm going to be off early Lydia has emergency docs appt, has had a temerature (up to 41) since Saturday - have been advised by fellow MNETTERS to get her down the doctors pronto.

nannynickers · 27/02/2007 16:06

Maybe it has something to do with childbearing hips? Dunno I'd never asked. They also told me that weight bearing gives a good indication, so if he's pulling himself up and standing it's probably a good sign. But like you say there is nothing wrong with ruling it out.

nannynickers · 27/02/2007 16:28

Hip Dysplasia

mawbroon · 27/02/2007 17:06

Thanks for that link NN. I take it you had a c section? My aunt is a doctor and apparently the funniest thing she saw one time on a training course was a video of a footling breech vaginal birth played backwards at high speed!! LOL

Anyway, I'm not going to read any more about the hip thing, because I will only worry and I don't really think there's anything to be worried about!!

I hope Lydia is better soon. I know that Johnny just goes really pathetic when he is ill and just wants to cuddle and cling the whole time which is pretty exahusting. YF - hope Thomas is feeling better too. ABs are magic and usually seem to work within the first dose or two.

Potential mindee seemed promising but it will be hard work with Johnny and a 22 month old!

nannynickers · 28/02/2007 09:51

That video must have looked like the baby was diving back in!

You are right on the research thing is does tend to freak you out over all the possibilities.

Took Lydia to GP last night she said she has very red swollen tonsils but want to wait until Thursday before giving her any antibiotics.

Mindee - hard work but must be rewarding, far more so than sitting behind a desk all day. Thats what I do!

ELF1981 · 28/02/2007 12:48

Hi all, sorry I haven't posted in a while! (Well, not long ago but longer than usual!)

I'm fine, been off work for three days with Evelyn as our CM is away for nearly three weeks. I'm back tomorrow and DH is off for the rest of the time (he has holidays left, I dont and my time now is unpaid!)

Evelyn is fine, going tomorrow for her MMR and hopefully the doctors will be able to tell us what the rash on the back of her leg is. She's asleep at the moment bless her, tired out!

Re my DH's job, I dont think he is too much bothered about reinstation, he is now working where he has no dealings with the "Bitch from the Office" which is a good thing, he's happier, albiet it stressed about other things now (mainly the amount of time he gets to see Evelyn). I want to push him to go through tribunal even if just for a little compensation and the knowledge that she hasn't got away with what she has done. We wouldn't be able to do if it he'd have to quit his job though as we are just staring the process of selling our house and buying another, so we have to get the balance right. My parents have offered to buy the 2nd house for us and we take up the mortgage when we get sorted, but its still a lot to think about. The house we have seen is not far from where we are now, it's bigger (three bedrooms rather than our two) and all the rooms are bigger too. Left it with DH to put the offer in as it still needs a lot of work esp the kitchen which is tiny, we'd have to extend into the dining room.

Anyway, enough of that!

MB Evelyn had her hip check at one of the normal baby checks, then again at 12 months. Inbetween that she had a hip scan at the hospital, then a second as her hips at the time were 'immature' and they needed to recheck. They're very big on doing the hip checks here though, all the HV's have had additional training on this and its got a big focus at my clinic for some reason!

YF How is Thomas now?

NN How is Lydia? What did the doctor say?

mawbroon · 28/02/2007 13:32

We are back from the hospital where Johnny got his MMR this morning. We had to wait for an hour before he even got the bloomin thing. ("oh, the pharmacist is on holiday and they had forgotten to get the vaccine to the ward blah de blah") Then the injection took all of seconds and we had to hang around for an hour afterwards. At least there is a fab playroom there and he was in his element! We were driving home just at naptime and he fell asleep in the car, which is what I would expect, and he's still napping now.
Elf - the thought of moving house just stresses me out at the best of times, never mind with all that other stuff going on. Really kind offer from your parents!!
NN - hope Lydia is a bit better.

nannynickers · 28/02/2007 14:52

I'm at work at the moment but mum said Lydia must be feeling better as she is busy pulling all of the DVD's out of the cupboard! The Calprofen seems to have done the trick with the temperature.

Doctor just said wait till tomorrow so fingers crossed we'll be out of the woods.

MB - why did you have to wait for an hour?

Elf - I wish my paren't would buy me a 2nd house! The only drawback to the tibunal would be your DH would either have to take back his old job with the b1tch from hell or loose it altogether, so if he is happy now maybe it's worth just cracking on with things.

It makes me really ANGRY when companies get away with mistreating their staff.

mawbroon · 28/02/2007 14:55

Glad to hear that Lydia is on the mend NN. We had to wait in case Johnny had a reaction to the MMR as the measles part of the vaccine is cultured in egg, but the risks for egg allergy children are tiny and of course he was absolutely fine!!

nannynickers · 28/02/2007 15:08

Ahh the egg thing! A friend of mine has a little girl a week younger than lydia so could be on this thread! Anyway she has a SEVERE egg allergy and they only found out when she ate some and puffed up and went bright red... She said she was @ A&E going frantic because once they gave her a antidote they all just stood there waiting for something to happen, must have been intense.

You haven't had to through anything like that with Johnny have you?

Yokefleet · 28/02/2007 16:07

Hi all, Thomas is on the mend still got his rash but has started eating a few little bits (mainly bread sticks or toast, but anything is better then nothing when he hasn't eaten since Friday pm ) Last night he slept through for us which was such a relief as the night we started him on the Penicillan he was awake between 4-6am screaming, at 4.30am I got dh to ring NHS Direct to check that we were ok to give Thomas Calpol whilst he was taking the Penicillan it took 40mins of questions to get the answer yes(ds screaming all this time) Thomas eventually settled down and slept on and off all day yesterday. He is walking around and playing today which he didn't yesterday, he just wanted to sit with us yesterday.
MB No adverse reaction to the Penicillan considering my allergy thankfully, as soon as he had his first dose he went really sleepy and I wasn't happy about putting him down in his cot unsure of how he would react to the AB but all is well. Good to hear that Johnny was ok after his MMR and about the possible new mindee, you must be mad!
nn Glad Lydia is feeling better then she was
elf My parents bought our house for us so that we were able to move to Wales before Thomas was born and then we bought it off them when we got rid of our house in Yorkshire (Thomas was 4mo by then)
Hope things settle down for you and dh soon.
dlamis Is your lo better now and sleeping through again?

Yorkefleet - Hopefully he'll be as right as ninepence in no time!

ELF1981 · 28/02/2007 20:25

Aw, sounds like we've got poorly babies at the moment. Today Evelyn has been taking everything out the cupboard and putting it into the washing machine, so I've had tins of baked beans and soups in there along with the tomoato sauce etc. Bless her.
Tomorrow DH is taking her for her MMR. I'm skiving off college to be home with her tomorrow night as well as I think she'll want her mummy. Saying that, tomorrow I bet she wants nowt to do with me and snuggles up with DH... but at least I'll have got a night off college

re the job/house thing. DH called to put a low offer in, the house has been on the market for 18 months, its okay but still needs a lot of work doing to it - ie needs the car port in the back ripping down as it's rotten, the kitchen is terrible and tiny, would need expanding into the dining room, there are little bits that would need doing over the place, but it's quite decent. It's on the market at £76k at the moment, hasn't dropped in 18 months and the estate agent say they're looking for the selling price or near as dammit. I just dont think its worth that in its present condition. Other houses that are completely done have gone for around £70k, so I think £76k is a "potential" value iyswim.

Never mind, DH is going to phone them again and put in another offer. We still need to sell ours, which is going to be a pain!

MB The thought of moving stresses me out, just the idea of packing up makes me worry, but we need a bigger place for all Evelyn's stuff, she's taken over our house!!

Yokefleet · 01/03/2007 07:48

elf lol at Evie and the washing machine Hope all goes well with the MMR today.

mawbroon · 01/03/2007 13:10

Elf -Johnny can't open my washing machine door yet, but the other day at MILs, I thought the machine door was shut, but obviously it wasn't because I looked round and there was Johnny with his head and shoulders in the machine and feet in the air. I keep my machine door shut, but as a result the machine got very smelly and the clothes were coming out smellier than when they went in!! I scoured the good housekeeping threads and have solved the problem.
NN - no we haven't had to deal with a situation like your friend's LO, but Johnny has only eaten egg once and the other accidental exposures have only been on his skin. I gave him little more than a crumb of fairy cake the day before his birthday and he became quite swollen and blotchy. It wasn't too bad, however these allergic reactions get worse with each exposure and raw eggs can cause a more serious reaction than cooked eggs, so I dread to think what would happen if he ate mayonnaise or something. The other exposures have been when I have accidentally touched him with mayo on my finger (thought I wiped it off!!) and he came out in hives, so I am not discounting the possibility that he could have a really nasty reaction if he ate some.
I am suffering a bit from PFB syndrome at the toddler group. When Johnny's playing with the playdough, I am worrying about him catching worms from it!! I'm not stopping him playing with it though so perhaps I only have the syndrome in a mild form.

nannynickers · 01/03/2007 16:08

Elf - 70k sounds like a bargain, you can't get anything here for less than 150 which is very depressing.

Has anyone contemplated leaving the country? May sound like a random question but since having Lydia all the stuff with interest rates, house prices, poverty and children getting stabbed and wot not at school has made me think that maybe Lydia would be better off spending her childhood somewhere else?? The only thing that keeps me here is family.

MB - Definately better to be safe than sorry on the egg front then! Ooooh playdough! My mum got Lydia some last week, it's not the same anymore, just doesn't have the same tang in it's smell. It remended me of making salt dough rolls and models at primary school!

ELF1981 · 01/03/2007 19:51

YF - The first time Evelyn went into the washing she did the head/shoulders in and legs wriggling behind her, and I peed myself laughing!

NN - I do worry about what world I am bringing Evelyn up in, I have a huge family though and we're very close so moving to me would not be an option.

Evelyn had her jab, she was fine with it! She's 23lbs now. The rash on her leg has been described as possibly ezcema and they have given us this huge jar of cream to try to clear it up. She seems fine after the jab, running around like a loon!

ELF1981 · 01/03/2007 19:52

God, been back at work one day and I'm brain dead - my first comment re washing machines was for MB!

mawbroon · 02/03/2007 16:51

How is Evie doing after the MMR Elf? Johnny is a disaster. I don't know if it's just a coincidence but he is not himself at all. He was sick last night and this afternoon (he has only ever been sick once other than possetting)and after his nap was like a limp rag. He wouldn't even sit up, preferring to lie face down on the floor sobbing. I gave him some Nurofen which helped, but he is so clingy and wanting to feed like a newborn. I took him to the airport to watch the planes which cheered him up a bit

ELF1981 · 02/03/2007 20:39

Aw, poor Johnny. Evelyn seems to be okay, in fact I swear she's been given a sugar injection or something as she's seriously hyper! She's been a bit hot and cold all day according to DH and very tired, but other than that she seems okay. This evening when I was home she was running back and forth across the living room pushing her toy pram so the sleep she had with DH obviously did her good!
Hope Johnny is better soon

DontlookatmeImshy · 02/03/2007 21:09

YF - Hope Thomas is feeling better soon.

NN- Glad Lydia is feeling better. Must've been worrying her having such a high temp.

Elf - Good luck with the house. Maybe they are just trying it on saying they want the asking price.

MB - Poor Johnny, hope he starts to feel better soon.

Ds is feeling much better now, although still eating me out of house and home and not back to sleeping through yet. Ho hum.

Well dh finally seems to have overcome the trauma of ds's birth enough to agree we can start trying for no.2, although his timing isn't brilliant as if we were lucky straight away it would be due Nov/Dec and I don't really want one to have a birthday so close to Christmas. Oh well, we'll see. Thers's no rush (not just yet anyway)

ELF1981 · 02/03/2007 21:13

DLAMIS - great news on the potential ttc!

I have my DH coming home with a pg test I have taken one but dont have the paperwork for what is negative and what is positive so an hour ago I rang him in a panic thinking it was postive, but I think it may be negative. I vote for standardised test results!

mawbroon · 02/03/2007 22:21

I saw your thread Elf. Keep us updated.

Good luck with the ttc DLAMIS. so are we, but no luck just yet.

mawbroon · 03/03/2007 09:31

C'mon Elf. I logged on especially this morning to see if you were pg!! Don't keep us in suspense!! My DH would never buy a pregnancy test, he would be all embarassed .... I'm away out now to a childminding course for a couple of hours. Hope it's interesting enough to have given up a Saturday morning for!

Yokefleet · 03/03/2007 10:11
