Good to hear utopian! I think they do tend to leave you to it a bit more with your second.

MrsNutella · 14/11/2014 09:53

I just need to write this somewhere.
Sorry it's so long and waffley.

My friend that made the comment about DS going to nursery... I sort of got my own back by saying how glad I was that DS is going and how good it is for him to be able to socialise with other kids because we don't see many through the week.
Anyway, I think she is being a martyr and it is making me struggle with the friendship. I know she has her own issues and I know that sometimes she feels better and sometimes worse. I wish I could help but I feel that I'm not really in the right place to help, also that she doesn't want me to help. She wants to be the "better mother" and cope all on her own. Confused

halestone · 14/11/2014 09:54

Why was the midwife scary? I love midwife storiesGrin

MrsNutella · 14/11/2014 09:59

Hales I think midwives have a bit of a good cop bad cop thing going on. They are either lovely, caring and supportive or scary matron like dragons.
That might just be my experience though Smile

I also just wanted to say that today I am totally in love with DD's eyelashes Grin

utopian99 · 14/11/2014 10:38

Just scary in that she told me off A lot when the shift started.. For carrying him, for not putting him far enough down the cot, for taking the cot with me to ask them a question. Quite looking forward to getting home, where dh and mummy are on hand plus I get to see O again.

The incision doesn't half hurt though!

ddas · 14/11/2014 11:50

utopian massive congrats.l! he's beautiful. hope you get home soon without anymore interfering ;)
I went home less than 24 hrs oust section ( but that was elective) as just wanted to be home and do things my own way independently!

ddas · 14/11/2014 11:56

Make sure you take your painkillers regularly even if not in pain for the week rather than waiting for pain. Find this is easier at home than in hospital! Sounds like you are up and very mobile which good :)

nutella sometimes you need to put yourself first if you are not in the right space to help her. Hard though and I'm rubbish at doing it.

halestone · 14/11/2014 12:29

Utopian, i think your doing a brilliant job being so mobile, i agree with Ddas though that keeping on top of the pain killers will help. Also remember you have had major surgery so don't do too much enjoy this time of hopefully being pampered.

Nutella i find with friends like that the more you try help the less they want you around. She sounds like one of those people who are better just left to their own devices but her friends are there for her to whinge at.

MrsNutella · 14/11/2014 15:30

ddas it is hard to watch when you know that they don't have to make things harder for themselves.

hales I think you're right. When she has a bad patch she does cancel play dates for - what appear to me to be- very odd /flimsy reasons.

Utopian she does sound scary! Grin Hope you get home quickly. As long as you feel good in yourself and confident that you don't need to be there, there is nothing stopping you going home.
I stayed overnight since DD arrived at 18:00 and they make you stay for 4-6 hours after the birth and DH needed to get home for DS. They were awkward about letting me go the next day though We need to check this/ that ask so and so etc. Then the boss midwife on shift said "if mum is happy why not go home, better for you, baby and your milk",ah well. If only she had come round to see me earlier Grin

PurplePidjin · 14/11/2014 17:33

Doing well Utopian :)

Some people just whinge. They don't like more practical folk because they get on and solve problems, whereas the whingers like to be centre of attention and woe-is-me. I tend to stick to polite and civil if I see people like that rather than actively seeking their company but I guess that's a lot harder as an expat

Barbeasty · 14/11/2014 20:10

Utopian definitely take the pain killers it helps the baby sleep it's meant to be far harder to get on top of if you let pain get hold.

My midwife was one who was lovely to the mums but a dragon to everyone else. I heard a story about the poor paramedic who hadn't secured a equipment properly on the ambulance and let it fall on the head of someone being transfered.

Good luck for next week Spotty. The adrenaline will get you through the day. And people will focus on DD as much as you (especially in that dress and cape of hers!)

Got to nursery yesterday and was told that ofsted had been in. Will be interesting to see what we're leaving!

A was taking his shoes off and putting them back on again today. The manager, who used to lead the preschool room, was very impressed, saying they have 4 year old who can't do that yet. To be honest I sort of wick he couldn't. He's obsessed with shoes- he was trying to get my slippers off this morning to try them on!

PurplePidjin · 15/11/2014 08:58

i have naice undies and cheap smellies with Mum on. happy bunny Grin

halestone · 15/11/2014 09:30

urgh i am so tired, luckily H has decided she just wants to snuggle on the couch under a cover, so thats what we're doing.

WLmum · 15/11/2014 09:30

utopian Yep, painkillers and home asap - the only thing I missed about being in hospital was the ora morph - ask them for some, it's awesome!
Desperate hurry trying to get dd1 ready for an early party and T decides to play brown torpedoes in the bath. Commented my life is currently nits and shits!

WLmum · 15/11/2014 09:47

Happy birthday? pidj
Tired from work hales?

halestone · 15/11/2014 10:47

WL that made me giggle, i hope Dd1 got to the party on time. And no i was just tired after a rubbish sleep, H ended up in my bed at about midnight and just kept playing with my hair in her sleep. Well i say playing there was alot of tugging.

Pidj, is it birthday? If so have a lovely day Thanks CakeWine

PurplePidjin · 15/11/2014 12:16

Yes, and thank you I now also have lovely pj's in the post from MIL, both chaps asleep after a morning wandering round local vintage shops well we would have had any of them actually bothered to open! and tea in a nice cake shop :o R is off to my parents for an hour this afternoon, not sure what to do with myself!

WLmum · 15/11/2014 13:41

She did thanks hales and she jumped pretty quickly out of that bath they were sharing!

Barbeasty · 15/11/2014 15:36

Happy birthday Pidj

It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow, so we went out for lunch today, courtesy of DH's award from work. Absolutely amazing food, especially since we weren't paying. MIL has the DC and we'll pick them up tomorrow. Looking forward to telling DD I had lamb with caramelised dandelions as my main course!

halestone · 15/11/2014 15:48

Beasty thats sounds like a lovely meal, i hope you and Dh have a lovely night tonight. Happy Anniversary for tomorrowWine Thanks

utopian99 · 15/11/2014 18:05

Happy birthday pidj and anniversary for tomorrow beasty!

wl the Oromorph was ace - I miss it! es when you make me laugh writing about brown torpedoes, am such a child

A has just had a series of mega poos while feeding. Oh the glamour of it all.

PurplePidjin · 15/11/2014 18:11

Happy anniversary Beasty WineThanks

R had his second totally dry day in a row today - up to now there's been the odd dribble every so often where he doesn't quite make it in time. And I finally made it to the black hairdressers for some proper advice on his hair and bought him some proper spray conditioner stuff. That plus a little trim of some long ends (his first baby hair was straight and I think I missed a few bits last time making his hair a mess of straight bits between the ringlets) means fingers crossed for a proper toddler 'fro in the next few days!

WLmum · 15/11/2014 23:18

Cute pidj
nut I meant to say if she doesn't want to be helped and is determined to be a martyr there's nothing at all you can do. Sometimes people just get stuck there for a bit - she won't change/see things can change until she's ready. If you want to keep the contact going, grow a bit of a hard skin and follow the rules of 'I'm doing x because I know it's right for us, but i know that other options are right for other people'
utopian after my c-sections DH tied my dressing gown belt round the footboard of our bed and it was so helpful in pulling myself up and lowering down. I could do it one handed so could keep buba snuggled on me if necessary (or wanted - I got told off I hospital too for falling asleep with T on my chest as she would not be put down. My night staff were much nicer and more relaxed than the day staff

halestone · 16/11/2014 14:14

Happy Anniversary to you and Dh Beasty.Wine Thanks

Dp got out of bed with H this morning so i could have a sleep in. I am now in the best moodGrin

SpottyTeacakes · 16/11/2014 18:05

Went to Prezzo for dinner (never go out for dinner with the dc!) and they were so well behaved. Usually they're monsters but they were angel children tonight Grin it made it really nice.
