bubb - the following is covered by the word 'poo-pa':

  • Postman Pat
  • paper
  • computer
  • octopus
  • hippo
  • poo-poo

Hmm, at least two others I cannot now recall!

katzg · 07/11/2006 09:23

we have a couple of interchangeable words too:
bubow means bottle, bubbles, and some more but my brain aint functioning.

bubbaloo · 07/11/2006 09:52

lol at all these "words".

Skyler-Your dd sounds so funny, hee hee.

Giddy-I don't really know much about pre-schools or nurseries but I actually put ds's name down a few weeks ago,in order for him to get a place.I just picked a pre-school that I kow a few people use and have said is good, but we'll go nearer the time, for a look around. He starts in Jan 2008. Also no advice on the nappy rash.We use Sudocream here which seems to do the job, although we haven't had any abd rashes...yet.

I had a midwife appontment yesterday which was a total waste of time. They couldn't find my blood results so told me to come back in 2 weeks time. Was also told they are not allowed the listen to the heartbeat with the doppler before 24 wks now,as it's very difficult to hear anything and if nothing can be heard then obviously the patient is upset. Was also told that I also now can't have the baby at the hospital I wanted as they only deal with high risk,so totally peeved about that and am seriously thinking about a home birth now.
Can't believe how much it's all changed since Oscar was born and that was only last year.

bubbaloo · 07/11/2006 09:53

abd=bad.

tribpot · 07/11/2006 10:29

I've used germoline on ds and he does not approve, I think it might sting when it goes on, can you remember that from when we were little? Savlon is more favoured in our house.

Bubb, can't believe they don't listen to the heartbeat before 24 weeks. It's not that hard to do, for heaven's sake. As to the hospital, what about patient choice?!

teabelly · 07/11/2006 12:03

Morning ladies

Bit more time to 'talk' today

Giddy, glad the metanium worked, it usually does for us too, but last time even that let me down, which was unheard of ...and I love the smell of germoline too...although peptobismal (sp) smells like liquid germoline and makes me want to gag ...I digress Nurseries...hmmm they're such a personal choice, I'd say go and see the place, if you like it, and feel your child will be happy there then go for it, that's what's important

Trib not sure if germoline stings DD but (and going to seriously lower the tone) boys bits are a bit sensitive to some creams/potions as a cheating ex found out when I covered his with toothpaste under the guise of some pre-BDing DH has been told the tale to deter any wayward ideas he he he! LOL at the playdate email...and then cower in terror as after nursery today we have one of DS's friends over for our 1st playdate at our house...arrggh I'm not sure now that I'm truely prepared!

Skyler, LOL at the porn name! Reminds me of how you add your 1st pets name with your mum's maiden name to get your supposed porn name...so that's me Nobby Kasas signing off

Bubb at not using doppler before 24 weeks - mind you when I think back I don't think I really saw my midwife with DD between booking in and about 28 weeks anyway

2Happy my DD is very much a whirling dervish and she loves to throw herself backwards when you're holding her so that she's being carried upside down - all very well when you know she's gonna do it have a few bumbs from mis-timed lunges!

Love all the words - our new one this week is an attempt at Firework 'warrwok' whilst pointing to the sky. We also have 'narnar' as Banana in our house and Nanna at mil's

2Happy · 08/11/2006 03:49

Grrrnph. Bloody insomnia.
Glad my ds isn't the only one with the whirling! He keeps falling over into doors etc, but it never seems to deter him

Bubbs - not allowed to listen before 24 weeks?! How bizarre. I think mw has been listening to mine for ages now.
Giddy - glad dd1 has got over her ordeal. Also glad she is cheerier. If you think it could be PMT, my dsis swears by agnus castus for hers.
Trib - think I may have to say something. ds has had diarrhoea for 3 weeks now, so his bottom is red anyway, and I'm working 2 stupidly long days back to back, so I really don't need him coming home with any more blisters (which he's had 3 times now, and always on the day I work longest). Just don't want to p* CM off, she's so good in every other way
ds's words are coming on too. Though he still says "cock" for socks which can be embarassing in public. And he still doesn't "understand" when I say "ds, time to change your nappy" and runs in the opposite direction

tribpot · 08/11/2006 08:55

How many kids is the CM minding, 2Happy? I can imagine if she's got a few in nappies it might be difficult to find time to change ds as often as you would at home. I think it's still worth saying something though.

The other thing you could think about is changing the brand of nappies. I use Moltex öko from the Nappy Lady and I must say, they are way better in terms of absorbency than any brand from the supermarket. If you want to give them a try, I'm happy to send a few to you? (You have to order in bulk from the Nappy Lady so a bit excessive for an experiment!) Let me know - tribunicia underscore potestas at hotmail dot com

sfxmum · 08/11/2006 12:19

hello all

reading your post i must say i have been super lucky so far. this is the first time dd has been ill, she was never sick when a baby, just possseted (there is a verb for you) once.
she never had a nappy rash at all , in fact we still have the original tub of sudocreme, i only use it once a day.

bubb - hospital taking the piss really, i remember listening at 11+4wks on my booking app.

hope you all ok

katzg · 10/11/2006 09:37

i killed my pushchair this morning!!!!

need to get a new one now though

hulababy · 10/11/2006 09:48

katz - if you need a spare in mean time I still have the 3 wheeler and the Volo here.

sfxmum · 10/11/2006 09:50

oh katz what a predicament! so sorry i know how much you simply hate buggy shopping

tribpot · 10/11/2006 10:01

Was this a bit of timely euthanasia, katz?!

Question. Would it be a good idea to give up my job, do you think?

katzg · 10/11/2006 11:12

nope it died all by itself! well with the help of a curb! if i was going to 'help' it die then i would have timed it better, rather than just off the bus with a 10 minute walk to nursery left!!

Trib - wow, why?

OP posts:
katzg · 10/11/2006 11:12

thanks hula - might borrow one night!

sfxmum · 10/11/2006 12:37

so trib is it a bad day? week? month?
a better offer?

Lua · 10/11/2006 14:18

What's up trib? is everything ok?

JonahB · 10/11/2006 17:07

hi ladies,

once again, i've disappeared for a while and come back again. Not terribly good at this, am I?
Anyway, my news of the day is that i've just had my official scan and everything's fine and well. 12 weeks today!! Very very pleased. An absolute relief.
Hope you and yours are all well.
Trib, hope everything's okay.
Katz, last time i was here, you were organising a meet up. Is that still on? Is there another thread I should be looking at?

JonahB · 10/11/2006 17:11

If we ask DS if he wants his nappy changing, he shakes his head so hard, I think he's going to do himself a minor neck injury .
We also have nana (banana), ninner(dinner = all meal times), shushsssss (shoes).

2Happy · 10/11/2006 20:11

Jonah - ds doesn't waste time shaking his head, he just runs full tilt in the opposite direction when I suggest nappy changes. I'm thinking potty training may take a while!!!
Trib - that's such a sweet offer, thank you. Are they 'real' or disposables? But more to the point, as everyone has asked, are you ok? Has something happened, or is it just something you're thinking about?

sfxmum · 10/11/2006 20:56

Jonah- that is really lovely, hope it all goes smoothly.

dd is not yet fully recovered from the tummy bug, which was followed by a cold, stools not yet normal(sorry tmi)
she has been miserable grumpy and generally poorly. i am tired and frankly need a couple of hrs for myself.

she also runs away from me at the mention of a nappy change saying no no no or screaming which ever one she thinks might be more effective at the time

Skyler · 11/11/2006 20:00

Hellooo
You ok Trib? I don't think any of us appreciate how tough it is for you with your dh so poorly . You never complain either. Don't know how you do it!
Katz - Wish I could break my buggy!
Jonah - Great news. I am not very good at keeping up either.
SFX - Hope you have managed to get a break.
DD2's new phrase is 'I dun poo' whilst grabbing her bottom and backing over to us (so we can check lol). Not everytime I hasten to add but I am glad that she at least doesn't run the opposite direction as nappy change time...dd1 did enough of that and she was a wriggler too. DD2 is actually quite complicit.
Hope you are all ok.

MrsWednesday · 11/11/2006 22:03

Thinking of you Trib, hope things are ok.

Great news Jonah! So pleased for you and DH. I think the meet-up is the 26th November at Katz's house - would be great to see you. Perhaps you could drag Lua along (just to make sure she reaches the right city this time ).

Still no words from DS2 but he can do a fine line in alien-speak, and now knows that cats miaow (probably discovered by pulling the cats tail), and that lions roar. I think he's concentrating on developing his singing voice though, so I'm not worried

Have been off work ill (tonsilitis) for most of the week which has been crap.. DH did a fine job of holding everything together whilst I lay on the settee sweating, shivering and feeling sorry for myself. Loads better today though!

I know you've done the nappy cream discussion but will add my support for Metanium. I've tried everything else and even on open sores it's the only things that works on the Wednesday Juniors bottoms.

Sorry for the infrequent visits and my feeble attempts at a catch-up! Hope the bumps are growing well - when's the first Junie Mark 2 due? Me and DH are still undecided on whether to try for number 3 - sometimes life is so much of a struggle with two I think we'd be mad to even think about it, but I would hate to think that I'm not going to have any more.

Right, better go to bed. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.

katzg · 12/11/2006 07:45
