Glad he seems a bit better getting Smile

TarkaTheOtter · 22/10/2014 19:05

Hope everyone is feeling better.

A is being a (not so tiny anymore) bastarding bastard at night so I feel like I'm falling apart a bit. Eczema is really flared up and I have an eye infection. I really just need some sleep to get better. Won't happen any time soon though as DH is away and we have family visiting this weekend (and I want to spend time with them not just use them as babysitters sadly). Sorry for the moan.

Naturegirl82 · 22/10/2014 19:33

tarka I feel your pain. O is having a terrible time with these teeth coming through and has been waking up at 3! Didn't go back to sleep till 6 when I had to get up for work! Was a long hard day today on top of still feeling ill and a ton of work that I'm really afraid I'm going to have to cancel my leave next week to finish Sad

BookTart · 22/10/2014 20:29

Oh getting, I'm glad H is okay. How scary.Massive sympathy and Wine to you all.
P wakes 6 times a night normally, but now has top teeth coming through with a bonus ear/sinus infection. Today she's thrown up Exorcist-style over 15 times. Poor baby. On the plus side, my mum came down to help, and I've actually had some lovely cuddles from P, who normally likes to be as far away from me as possible Smile Not looking forward to tonight though, she's been napping on me all day...

Naturegirl82 · 23/10/2014 08:58

Does anybody else give calpol for more than 3 days? O is having such a hard time with these teeth. Having proper screaming fits which is so unlike her.

I going to try and get some anbesol tonight but she just seems in so much pain. She is also grinding her teeth together - is that normal??

alteredimages · 23/10/2014 09:03

getting that sounds really scary, I am very impressed at how calm you sound about it all. Hope H is on the mend soon and his throat clears up.

nature you sound like you need a hug. I hope you manage to sort out the work/offload it and can take your leave next week. I am also sending O a stern go to sleep only once Mummy is home face. Smile

Tarka sympathies. N was exactly the same a couple of weeks ago and I thought I was literally going to fall apart. I hope that your relatives visiting will be a nice distraction. When I talk to people over 5 I feel better however tired I am. Grin

book glad to hear about the hugs. Smile I was doing a v stressful supermarket trip with N in the ergo and when I was just about to lose it found him stroking me on my arm and cooing. I felt so much better. I hope the vomiting calms down and she feels better. Poor P. Sad Hope you both got some sleep last night. N managed to cut his lip just like she did the other day. There was blood everywhere!

We are staying with the in laws for a couple if days and I bloody hate it. I love them, but every cupboard is full if expensive breakable stuff like crystal and there is a cat who N torments and there is no high chair or cot so I just spend all day running around after N who only wants to play on the balcony or empty cupboards. They don't get up til 11 or 12 either and we are up at 7 so I am completey frazzled by the time they are up anyway.

Sorry for the moan, but it stops me being snarky to DH and DD all day.

alteredimages · 23/10/2014 09:08

Nature, N seems to grind his teeth a lot these days especially when teething. I can't say I am especially worried but he also didn't have a fever or seem ill.

I would give calpol for up to 4 or 5 days, but I am not a doctor. Confused I think the warning about not giving for more than three days is because they don't like to leave a baby with an 'unexplained' fever for more than that. Do you know what is causing it, and how high is it?

alteredimages · 23/10/2014 09:10

D'oh! Just realised it is for pain not for fever. Oops. Have you tried dentinox gel? I found it would calm DD down long enough to feed and go to sleep.

Naturegirl82 · 23/10/2014 09:17

haha altered I was about to say it's for the teething pain. We have used dentinox teething gel but it doesn't seem to work for her for very long. She has had 5 teeth come through so I'm not surprised she is in quite some pain. She has 4 bottom teeth, but only two tops one through (but not the two middle ones - odd child!) at the minute so I think it is these last two top ones that are the culprit.

I'll keep giving it to her. We mainly only give it to her at night as that is when she is most upset, but hopefully if I can get this anbesol I'll use that instead.

Hopefully I will get this work done if I get off mn! as I can't offload it to anyone Sad. It's not helping that I'm still not 100%. Ended up going to bed at 8pm last night just to try and catch up on some sleep! Can't do that tonight though as my parents are coming to stay for the weekend and the house is a tip!

Gettingthroughthis · 23/10/2014 09:25

After posting that h seemed better yesterday he slept for the rest of the day with w fever of 40 (still looking a bit blue and cold hands and feet). Also was sick all over himself over night (cot/hair/sheepskin etc) but as he still had the fever I didn't want to bath him so just wet wipes changed and into bed with us. Just bathed him now and he still seems so I'll poor thing. I'm alternating ibuprofen and calpol but not sure there's much more I can do

Naturegirl82 · 23/10/2014 09:27

Getting do you think it is worth popping him back to the Drs?

Gettingthroughthis · 23/10/2014 09:33

I thought that but he went back yesterday for his asthma and (different doctor) told us to stop his abyibiotics and eye drops we'd been given the day before (which I'm ignoring) so I don't want to look like I'm over reacting takinibg him 3 days in a row

TarkaTheOtter · 23/10/2014 09:42

As a disclaimer this is all based on stuff I remember from reading on the internet when dd was teething...
I think you don't need to worry about giving calpol over a long duration but shouldn't give ibuprofen too much as it can cause stomach ulcers.

alteredimages · 23/10/2014 10:13

getting I know it's a cliché but if he doesn't seem right and you are concerned, take him to the doctor, even if it's three days in a row.

Gettingthroughthis · 23/10/2014 12:34

Apart from sleeping constantly I'm currently pinned in a very uncomfortable position where he was just sat on my lap and fell asleep and not eating/ drinking much the fever seems to have gone so hopefully on the mend

Supposed to be moving tomorrow if we ever exchange! so having a sick baby who can't go to nursery isn't ideal timing

BookTart · 23/10/2014 13:04

Poor H and poor you getting. I hope he's better in time for the move.

I'm trapped under a poorly P again today. She threw up over the bed in the night, and I'm so behind on laundry that I've no clean bedding Blush. The GP gave us Dioralyte, which she won't take of course. We're both on our 4th set of clothes already. I think she must have picked up a bug at soft play the other day

Naturegirl82 · 23/10/2014 13:23

Book it sounds like the bug that O had last week. It took her a while to get over it I'm afraid. I think there is a lot doing the rounds.

Getting fx the exchange goes through. Do you have anyone to help with H if you do end up moving tomorrow?

BookTart · 23/10/2014 19:16

Was she off her solids nature? Percy won't eat anything, and she can't keep water or breast milk down Sad

Naturegirl82 · 23/10/2014 19:26

Yes she went off solids for a few days, only really started eating them again yesterday and she last threw up Sunday morning. She wasn't keeping anything down Thursday night but did manage to keep breastmilk down on Friday. I just kept offering brestmilk and plain toast. It's horrible, it's the first time O has properly thrown up. Hope P is better soon.

BookTart · 23/10/2014 19:42

Thanks nature, I'm quite worried because she's already quite small and she is visibly losing weight. The GP wasn't worried though.

I meant to say, P is also grinding her (few!) teeth. It is fairly common apparently. It is also officially the Worst Noise Ever.

Naturegirl82 · 23/10/2014 20:00

I suppose that's the benefit of O being a little chunk! As worrying as it is if the Dr's weren't worried she will be ok.

FelixFelix · 23/10/2014 22:13

Getting I hope he's better for the move! That must be very stressful Confused

Book I hope she's better soon. It seems like we've all been ill this past week.

S decided to cry hysterically all afternoon and I'm not sure why. She's not generally a crier so it caught me off guard a little bit! She was happily playing at baby group at 2ish then about 30 mins in she just started wailing. It carried on until DP got home at 6.30 (all smiles when he walked through the door of course). Still baffled as to what was wrong!!

AnotherStitchInTime · 23/10/2014 23:29

Sorry to hear about poorly babies.

Book try adding cordial to the dioralyte, they use blackcurrant at my local paed A&E. I have had to syringe it into mine before, 5 mls every 5 mins complete with screaming baby not fun. Making it into ice lollies/cubes for them to suck is far more successful.

Getting hope H is feeling better. Dd2 has had real issues with tonsillitis and has been admitted to HDU for being blue lipped and drowsy. She ended up on oxygen and needing steroids as well as stronger antibiotics as they were obstructing her airway. If you are concerned get him seen again by a paediatrician. I had to take videos of dd2 sleeping before they would admit her, even though I had a letter from a GP who had seen her asleep.

AnotherStitchInTime · 23/10/2014 23:32

Oh forgot to say book if you are breastfeeding I have found following this schedule when they have a D&V bug.

alteredimages · 24/10/2014 00:04

Hope all the poorly babies feel better soon.

That schedule is really useful another, thanks. Smile I will save it as I am sure it will come in handy.
