We got this rug for the "playroom". Plus some little toddler sized chairs, some bathroom hooks, hangers, washing up brushes etc. And I got ridiculously excited that they now do the drona boxes for expedit in nice colours rather than just neons. We're not used to living near an Ikea so still have the "must buy everything just in case" mentality.

BookTart · 12/10/2014 19:43

Ikea gives me the Cold Fear, but DH loves it and we always end up buying loads.

It isn't often I say this, but DH has been brilliant this weekend. I've had a stomach bug for a few days, and by this morning I could only get about by crawling because I was so knackered. DH has looked after P all day, done all her naps and bedtime, done all her meals, and took her out in the garden to plant bulbs so I could lay pathetically on the sofa whining. I'm still on the night shift though, so fingers crossed she has a decent night!

FelixFelix · 12/10/2014 19:54

Tarka we got floral and plain white ones for our expedit in the bedroom. They look good! Love a good ikea haul.

Oh dear book, hope you're feeling better soon. Hooray for DH though Smile

TobyLerone · 12/10/2014 20:27

Ugh, book, sorry you feel so awful :(
Glad DH stepped up.

IKEA is fab. I love it. We got a chairbed, some cushions, new mugs, a throw, some toys for M, etc.

And, having searched everywhere for a Britax Dualfix in purple, we eventually found one online and ended up getting it for £50 less than Mothercare had it for. If it arrives with no issues and the service is all it claims to be, I'll put the link to the site here. I'm sure the Dualfix isn't the only one they have cheaper.

Naturegirl82 · 13/10/2014 10:48

Book hope P had a good night and you are feeling better

Very jealous of all the IKEA shopping this weekend.

Saw my friend yesterday who had her baby 3 weeks ago. She has all ready lost a ton of weight and all ready weighs less than I do Sad I know it's not a competition and we are all different blah blah but still! We are going to a wedding at the end of the month and I really don't want to look like a whale standing next to her, so I really need to lose some weight. Need to stop with using bf as an excuse to pig out on biscuits and crisps not going to be easy with a work week from hell this week. But all I want to do is eat some Biscuit and Cake

FelixFelix · 13/10/2014 11:00

Nature I don't even have the excuse of bf to eat all the biscuits! I've only lost 1.5st since January and can't seem to shift any more. I have no will power at all and need to lose as least another 2st. I wanted to look nice for photos on Sylvie's birthday but I've just given up now Sad

All the ladies from my NCT class seemed to ping back in to their skinny jeans within a month of having their babies Hmm

TobyLerone · 13/10/2014 13:56

God, I cannot stop eating atm. It's ridiculous. I'm not putting on any weight, so it could be worse, but I'm also not losing any! I think it must be because she's feeding so much in the night. It's ridiculous, though.

Update on the car seat -- the guy from the website we ordered from called me today and said it'll be with me tomorrow. So far, so good!

BookTart · 13/10/2014 14:03

I think the night feeding is all that is stopping me from being the size of a small planet. That and last week's lovely bout of d&v Grin

Poor P had a bit of an accident at baby signing earlier and bled all over herself, as she'd managed to knock one of her top teeth through the gum. She's managed to hurt it again a few times since with her teething ring, so I thin she'll be on a squishy diet for a bit! It was a bit disconcerting to see her bleeding though, I think it scared the crap out of some of the other mums as well!

TobyLerone · 13/10/2014 15:51

Poor Percy :( That made me really sad because I am a massive gaylord.

Gettingthroughthis · 13/10/2014 16:05

Oh poor percy Sad

I had to sign an accident form from nursery last week as h cut his lip with one of his front teeth when he fell backwards after getting a big egg the night before when he did the same thing and bashed his head on fire grate. It's horrible seeing them hurt isn't it

FelixFelix · 13/10/2014 17:24

Oh god, does anyone else have a car seat/pram refuser? Over the past week or so S has started freaking out when I put her in either. She screams and arches her back, and shuffles downwards to avoid me doing the harness up. I met a friend for coffee the other day and she refused to go back in her pram when we were leaving and she actually ended up falling down out of the pram and she would have fell completely out if my friend didn't manage to catch her Blush I need a solution!

pumpkinsweetie · 13/10/2014 17:51

Ha ha felix I have neither, but I do have a playpen refuserGrin, with 5 children and a gaming mad dh I have to have a playpen as a safe area, baby pumpkin hates it, absolutely detests it so I have had to resort to pushchair for naps in the day lol and jumperoo and playmat for when I'm in the room!

People must think I'm so mean when they see her in a pushchair inside my homeGrin, but then again some see playpens as mean so oh well....

Finally got her a high chair today after using a bumbo for far to longBlush , she loves it, it even lays down (so new place for naps Blush too)

pumpkinsweetie · 13/10/2014 17:53

Try reins Felix proper old fashioned ones and attach them to the pram to double up the harness, no escaping themGrin I know this from my eldest many years ago x

pumpkinsweetie · 13/10/2014 17:55

poor Percy Sad I would have so freaked out if it was me, I'm bad enough with my older children when they hurt themselves

BookTart · 13/10/2014 18:13

OMG felix, she literally just started this after lunch today! Screaming blue murder and going rigid to try and avoid the car seat. I have no idea what to do. I tried tickling her, but she just headbutted me Blush I ordred her next car seat earlier on, so I'm hoping that she miraculously loves it.

Also, she hates the playpen and stands in it crying and saying "muuuummuuuum". I sometimes ignore this

TobyLerone · 13/10/2014 20:48

M gives a token moan and a back arch sometimes when I put her in the car seat, but she's quite the praise-whore and I say "sit back nicely" and she usually does and grins all over her face when I tell her she's a good girl. I know from experience that this won't last, and that a toddler seat/pushchair refuser is much more stubborn and harder to bend!

FelixFelix · 13/10/2014 21:39

Praise-whore Grin

The only way I could get her back in the car seat after shopping today was by bribing her with holding a nappy, which she thought was the best thing ever.

TarkaTheOtter · 13/10/2014 21:51

I got very good at folding dd into various seats (pushchair/car seat). Usually involved both arms and a knee. Harnesses where both sides click in independently are a real bonus as it's tricky to bring the two side bits together with one hand. So far A is significantly more compliant.

I think I see tooth number three coming through so not expecting much sleep tonight which us a shame because I am exhausted.

FelixFelix · 13/10/2014 22:04

Tarka her pram has bits that click in individually which makes it slightly easier (car seat is one you need both hands for Sad) but the bits you click in are made up from two different parts that slot together (if that makes sense) so when they decide to unslot just as I'm about to click in, it makes things even harder Angry

Anyway, I'll try the fold and knee tomorrow Grin

Gettingthroughthis · 14/10/2014 08:07

H does this unfortunately which is usually worsened by the paddy that I've taken keys off him after nursery. I don't have a solution yet, just brute force unfortunately

TobyLerone · 14/10/2014 08:40

Yy M loves the car keys and her rage when I take them off her is funny :o

BookTart · 14/10/2014 10:24

Yep, car keys are the Ultimate Prize in the 'emptying my handbag' competition Grin

Urgh. Percy was up on and off the whole night. Feeding to sleep doesn't seem to work anymore. She did have a temperature so I stripped her off a bit and smeared Calpol as close to her mouth as she'd let me (mostly on my arm) and this morning she seems alright. She's asleep on me now.

One of her NCT group has measles. Poor little chap.

beccajoh · 14/10/2014 11:09

How's the sleep consultant stuff going book?

OP posts:
BookTart · 14/10/2014 11:21

Some and some really becca. It has been on hold for a couple of weeks because P had a cold and then was teething horribly. She is settled by her Dad on the bed every night now, and he resettles her until 9.30 when I take over. Then all hell breaks loose Blush. We were pinning a lot of hope on an improvement once her Omeprazole dosage had increased, but she's been as bad as ever. I'm starting to get really down about it again. Anyway, we've got another phone appointment with the sleep lady later, so maybe she'll have some ideas. The next step is DH settling her in her cot and soothing her through the bars I think.

The routine that we follow now has made a big difference to her though. Her naps are much better and more predictable, although it is making going anywhere difficult. We've got to be at an NCT sale all day on Saturday, and I have no idea how we'll do naps and meals.

Mythreeknights · 14/10/2014 16:49

Poor old Lucy has been ill for over a week now, initially the gp thought it was bronchitis and rxed antibiotics, but she is still wheezing and coughing all night and so took her back today and now apparently it is bronchiolitis which is viral Hmm so just need to keep her comfortable. Have had to take two days off work this week but hoping that she is well enough for nursery tomorrow... She is not coughing much, just has seemed miserable in herself and wheezy. Is it wrong of me to put her into nursery or have I been pathetic keeping her off?
