She used to love it. But carrying two stone of child became quite limiting and she started calling out to walk!

Yeah we've still got our backpack but its reserved for short dog walks. Could go for miles when she was small but now she's just a beast.

BeanCalledPickle · 30/04/2015 16:43

I've merrily hiked with 15kg on my back. But that doesn't kick, shout, pull your hair and beg for raisins....

We've got one of those backpacks. We are taking it to the Lakes in June. God knows which, if either, child will go in it. DD is going to have to either do that or go in a buggy though. But she'll be worn out so hopefully won't mind!

Mrs81 · 01/05/2015 05:06

Hope all goes well today Bean Smile x

HungryHorace · 01/05/2015 06:55

Yes, good luck Bean. Hope you get the first slot and there's no delays.

Third?!?!

I was first and still didn't get in til gone 12...they were about to put me on a drip when they called for me as I'd been nil by mouth since midnight on one of the hottest days of the year!

That toast you'll get afterwards will be well-deserved!

cuphat · 01/05/2015 13:09

Hopefully you'll be in around now.

I was about to be called in not long after 10am when they realised they hadn't checked my blood (I had low platelets). That and then emergency sections delayed it until after 2pm. They put me on a drip as soon as they realised they'd have to check my blood. I had a three course meal in the recovery room with no side effects! I remember that more than I remember DD in recovery. That was good timing though - I don't think I'll be as lucky this time! I know some people can't even stomach water afterwards so I was lucky I was ok.

I've just got my section date - 26th May. I had a choice of Fri 22nd or Tues 26th due to the weekend and bank holiday. I've said all along that time is going too fast so I thought I'd drag it on a few days. I'll be 39+4 so I really hope baby holds on till then!

HungryHorace · 01/05/2015 18:29

I puked until 7pm after DS was born! And they wondered why I was dehydrated. :-/

It took 2 shots of anti-emetic to stop me being sick. Not great really.

26th May is very close. Hope you hold on. I'd have gone for the earlier date personally!

BeanCalledPickle · 01/05/2015 18:39

This is Juno Grace Wise-Doel, born today at 1244, weighing 3.355 kg which I think is 7lb 4.

All is well. I'm enjoying the morphine. On a ward because the private rooms can't apparently be used by c section for 24 hours and I want to be gone by then! Baby sleeping. Husband has gone to reassure older child she is still loved!

It's been ok. Better than the first time round. I think fear of the unknown makes that worse than fear of the known! Complaints so far limited to annoying woman who rocked up with entire family and was behind me in the list so we had to sit there while they chatted at full volume until midwife told them to politely fuck off. Ward has been spruced up and is quite quiet at the moment. So all good. Threatened with catheter out soon so will have to start moving!

Nice work Bean! You are perfectly within your rights to kill and maim any noisy people for the first 48hrs post-birth.

Juno = top name. Well classy.

Xx

cuphat · 01/05/2015 18:51

Oh no, that's awful!

I was very indecisive but last time I went for a Monday above a Friday due to the news stories at the time about better care at the start of the week. And I had great care so that played a part in my decision (would probably be great at any time but it was something that stuck in my mind). I'd have gone for the Monday without hesitation if they did elective sections on bank holidays. DD was born at 39+3 so I'll be able to compare their weights better.

Mrs81 · 01/05/2015 19:04

Welcome to this crazy world Juno! Thanks Thanks Thanks Glad it's quiet for now Bean.

Noisy ward is bringing back hellish memories. There was a localised baby boom when ds was born. We were on a post-labour ward with women IN labour (early labour/mid induction etc) Nobody wins from that setup. I hated every moment of the two days we had to stay there and it played a big part in me legging it out the door asap despite not really being well enough (big pph).

26th is a fab date Cuphat. It's our wedding anniversary Smile

cuphat · 01/05/2015 19:05

Commented on fb but great news bean! Hope you have an ok night.

cuphat · 01/05/2015 19:14

Aww Mrs. Not doing very well with crossed posts today, I should wait until I have time to type a post in one go! The 'oh no that's awful' was referring to hungry's sickness, not the arrival of Juno in case anyone was unsure!

AlohaMama · 01/05/2015 19:22

Congratulations Bean!! What a cute baby and lovely name Flowers

Sunbeam18 · 01/05/2015 20:08

Congratulations! Little darling!

HungryHorace · 02/05/2015 08:28

How was your night? Hope all went well.

I had an annoying person next to me for 2 nights after DD. It was hell.

I have a horrible feeling I was the annoying one as I arrived and couldn't stop throwing up, which is very grim to listen to! :-/

Hope you get out today, Bean. They might be glad to kick you out. :-)

BeanCalledPickle · 02/05/2015 09:52

Horrible. Poor little thing couldn't maintain her temp and they had a paediatric doctor up a couple of times. She's been under something I'd normally associate with cannabis plants and is holding steady it seems. Vommed up a few times and sounds like a fifty a day smoker. So obviously I had to check she was breathing every 3-5 minutes and have had about an hours sleep.

On the plus side I'm great. Catheter out within six hours and on my feet within eight. Makes such a difference.

Ward fine as well. Noisy babies but thems the breaks. All partners went home thank goodness, apart from one. At three am he declared loudly that mums milk wasn't working and demanded formula. The midwife tried to reassure that all was fine, milk takes a while but he insisted that he knew best while she just sat there. I cannot imagine being married to someone like that. After the baby had knocked down the bottle she cried again and he was yelling at the Midwifes for an explanation. They were like 'babies cry!' Odious man!
