Baby number two has decided its fun to scratch their fingers against the inside of my fecking cervix. OUCH!!!!!

StuntNun · 09/08/2014 21:22

Sounds good VQ, what is spelt? I love the bread so I will have to give that a try. The first batch of bread was delicious but didn't rise - checked the yeast packet to find out the expiry was May 2013! Blush A new batch is in ready for J'a breakfast tomorrow.

Sounds lovely yw!

Sorry your holiday was so tough lily. It sounds very frustrating.

Fairly quiet day here. Renewed our safari park membership as it lapsed a month ago and I miss it!

P is defo getting more teeth as she has a runny nose and seems to swing wildly between being super cheerful and a total clingy whinge. Her new favourite thing is to take me by the hand and lead me somewhere while saying "c'mon mummy"

Nice to see you vq!!

And stunt you are absolutely right about the extra ingredients you notice when label checking. The recipe for basic bread from our bread maker is water, oil, flour, sugar, salt and yeast. We used ours a lot for pizza dough as one batch makes three pizzas. P doesn't like pizza though so we don't make them so much anymore. I found ours very hit and miss for bread though which was possibly to do with a fairly basic machine being too susceptible to ambient temperature. It was one of those situations where we were researching which one to buy and a lovely friend bought us one but it wasn't ace. The bread could be really dense but it made smashing toast.

PetiteRaleuse · 09/08/2014 22:05

Toddlers and holidays can be sooo stressful. Despite saying never again we have been thinking about an October break just this evening. Has to be mountain or sea, no plane.

Huge firework display going on here. Ash has been landing in my front garden. Hasn't woken kids so far but dog not amused at all.

The cat has buggered off as per. Came across him when driving through a neighbouring village the other day. It's 3km away. He pops in for food and a cuddle every day or two.

Erm. What else? We went swimming with the girls and DD1's BFF. Ran into another kid from nursery. Was nice. Going again tomorrow. DD1 needs to go more often she was nervous.

I keep meaning to buy a bread maker but our baker delivers every morning and my lazy side says nah!

Passmethecrisps · 09/08/2014 22:23

I would be fairly certain the bread you get will be far better gab any made from a bread maker pr. I rate sainsbury's bakery bread and it is far nicer than that from my maker. However, I am no longer having to label check so that makes life immeasurably easier.

I have been pinteresting lunch and dinner recipes. I have bought p a wee totty flask with a wide neck so I can pop hot food in it or soup. DH and I take soup every day to work so it would be good if she could at least once a week. I am okay with salads and sandwiches some days for her but it is nice for her to have a change and if I can batch cook and freeze then it just reheat in the morning then it takes some of the anxiety out of trying to give her variety.

So, what are your favourite make a freeze lunches and dinners ladies?

Lily311 · 10/08/2014 03:55

at the airport. trying to keep O awake so she sleeps on plane. wish me luck

GTbaby · 10/08/2014 06:43

There is a massive puk stain on my carpet now. It's a disgusting dirty cream really cheap and everything sticks to it like Velcro to start with and now I've managed to make it worse Angry

Duvet didn't fit in washing machine so put it on washing line in sun. Then covered in fabreeze. So ok now.

Not A has diarrhoea. What can I give him? It's running out of his nappy constantly.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 10/08/2014 07:53

wanda my knee seems to get better for a few days then worse again. Dr said I'd just trapped a bit of torn off cartilage that was floating in the joint. This week it had been OK until the lift was out of action and I had to bounce the pram down about 20 steps! Ouch!

yw cervix scratching sounds ouch!

Bread making sounds ace stunt. I love the smell of freshly baked bread but I reckon it'd just be another gadget I don't use of I were to get one!

It's now 2 sleeps til E starts school! Yikes!

StuntNun · 10/08/2014 08:19

It's quicker to clean and to set up the breadmaker than I thought it would be Izzy. I'm going to make up bags of weighed out flour, sugar and salt so I'll just have to chuck it in with the fat, yeast and water at night and set the timer. We were buying soya-free bread for J and white bread for DS1 and DS2 and there was always a lot of wastage so hopefully this will be easier all round.

My next question about LOs with food intolerances is for dairy-free yoghurts. The only alternative I can find locally is soya yoghurt which is no good either. I have a yoghurt maker on the way from Lakeland and I'm wondering what milk would be best to make yoghurt. Coconut, rice and almond milk would all be options.

OP posts:
izzybizzybuzzybees · 10/08/2014 08:26

Rice milk shouldn't be given to under 5s. I'd go for coconut milk as tesco do coconut milk yoghurt a which look yum!

Wandathewindfairy · 10/08/2014 08:26

Been a bit tired, emotional and over sensitive this weekend. Poor old DH. Need to snap out of it.

I love my bread maker and make loaves most days. I also make pizza dough in it it's lovely. Yesterday though, I made a take on a tarte au flambé and the kids seemed to like it more than pizza so that might be worth a try pass

Hope you have a good flight lily

Sounds like things are going better than expected yw that is great.

Yesterday at the air show was brilliant we found a spot on the beach and settled down for the afternoon. The rain started as we were trying to leave. And hasn't stopped since.

Feeling bloated and bleurgh. If hot just fester at home in track suit bottoms today. Need to get back to healthy eating and exercise this week.

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2014 08:44

Spelt is a relative of wheat but is not wheat. It was widely used in roman times. The grain sprouts before being milled. It rises quicker than wheat but still has a dense robust texture. It is expensive as it is more labour intensive and less in demand. It is 'better' for you due to sprouting and cannot be processed to the same extent as wheat. It tastes lovely. Today we are having wheat spent and rye.

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2014 08:45

Pass can you just send the soup chilled? A nursery is likely to have to test temps of food anyway so the soup in a flask would need reheating, which they could not do according to food rules.

ValiumQueen · 10/08/2014 08:50

And Wanda you are doing amazingly. You are bound to be feeling emotional and I am sure DH understands. I think you are incredible x I think a bracing swim in your freezing pool is just what you need x

Wandathewindfairy · 10/08/2014 09:11

You are right vq a swim would be great and would completely sort me out, if it weren't for the storms. Sad

A day pottering will be good though. I am going to skip church and only go as far as the veg patch for carrots and the garage for a bit of a play with DS1 I think. Time to teach him connect four!

StuntNun · 10/08/2014 09:34

How to do jigsaws J's way: pick up jigsaw piece; hand jigsaw piece to mummy; mummy makes the jigsaw.

OP posts:
Wandathewindfairy · 10/08/2014 09:34

Actually think might go to the regular pool is afternoon.

However DH has just really inadvertently cheered me up.

He get the boys up on a sun and takes them to breakfast. I lay their clothes out a sat night. But this morning the clothes were still there. So I was wondering what on earth they were wearing.

Ds1 climbs out of the car in a pair of old playing outside combats. Inside out. A jump and a fleece.

O, bearing in mind it is pouring with rain and not warm, a pair of shorts a winter too small jumper, red trainers, lime green socks and DS1s hoody.

Daddy says its the grunge look! Grin

Passmethecrisps · 10/08/2014 09:38

Not sure vq. The issue initially with meals was our CM had no cooker. Chilled would be easier still so I will ask nursery and the CM who surely has a cooker now!

Passmethecrisps · 10/08/2014 09:39

They sound dressed for action wanda!

BigPigLittlePig · 10/08/2014 10:05

Lovely evening at a v good friends wedding, and luckily F slept til 8.30 so am not too Confused

Wanda I hope your spirits continue to pick up. I love watching the waves when the weather is off.

Safe flight Lily.

F currently feeding "doddy" (doll) her toast.

MsJupiter · 10/08/2014 11:22

L is Daddy-dressed today too. I try not to say anything as I don't want to be all ooh-men-eh about it but I did have to take a few layers off - he'd dressed him for midwinter in long thick trousers, long sleeved vest under t shirt etc. It is rainy here too but not cold. He was sweltering!

StuntNun · 10/08/2014 15:17

I have a rotisserie-style chicken in the slow cooker, bread in the breadmaker, ready-prepared salad leaves in the fridge and a jar of homemade vinaigrette. This is going to be the easiest Sunday dinner ever. Grin Now we're off to soft play for an hour or two.

OP posts:
Wandathewindfairy · 10/08/2014 15:23

I'll be there by the time you get back stunt you seem to really make the most of your slow cooker, do you use a book?

Lily311 · 10/08/2014 18:29

nightmare trip but it wasn't O's fault. it involved delayed luggage, broken down taxi, second taxi not being able to cross the river, 3 changes on tube and one bus trip. o was great, she watched baby einstein on plane so was easy. she just fall asleep, it's already her bedtime in Hungary. we are at best friend's house and I'm guessing he would want a shag tonight. well I wouldn't mind either.
