Driving through Champagne. Girls behaving great. DD1 still coughing but fever gone.

Lily311 · 14/07/2014 13:04

Best shag friend is delayed, supposed to leave Luton at 8, they are still there. Grrrr.

BigPigLittlePig · 14/07/2014 14:01

Oh dear Lily, fc he arrives soon - enjoy yourself Wink

Am attempting nap ahead of night shifts. Serious building work occurring across the road though so not optimistic.

ChasingDaisy · 14/07/2014 14:29

That's great news about H and the bath GT - I remember when you said about him disliking them and it's been going on a while now, so fingers crossed it lasts. O has a water obsession at the moment. All he wants to do is sit in the sink and play with the taps Hmm

He had another settling in session at nursery today - an hour by himself. I was a bit worried as he has gotten used to having me at home last week and was obviously with his dad at the weekend, so quite a bit of upheaval, but he was completely fine. Little superstar.

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 17:41

Home from hols! Just catching up. We had a fab time. Boat trips (whyyyyy won't mummy let me throw myself overboard - cue tantrum!), trying on a knights hat, cloak and weapons whilst exploring Urquhart castle (whhhyyy can't I jump off the ramparts - cue tantrum) the monster exhibition - he's learned so many new words! Caravans and hobbit holes are much more fun than real houses it seems. He's even almost learned to share. Envy Well at least he shouts "SHARE!!!!!" when one of his cousins is playing with a toy he wants hmmmmm....

Kyz hope you're all OK now.

Pass I hate the paedo bare look - you wanna shag a child I'm going to call the police not make my lady bits look like a child's. Too many young lads are learning about sex from porn and because feminism is a dirty word young lasses assume they have to act / look like a porn star rather than express their own needs Sad

Agree yw

Small world. 15 years ago I lived in Orleans for 3 months teaching English. One of the guests at pre dinner drinks tonight worked in one of the companies I taught at and we had mutual acquaintances. We're about 90km from Orleans this week so huge coincidence.

Lovely weather, beautiful house am staying at, huge grounds so two very happy kids and one ecstatic dog! Today we met new born kittens and tomorrow we're going to the lake on the grounds to look at frogs. Simple pleasures.

V toddler unfriendly house, lots of old rusting farm equipment dotted around. But lovely.

Passmethecrisps · 14/07/2014 20:45

Evening wimmins.

Your break sounds fabulous yw as does yours pr

Hope your best chum arrives very soon lily. Maybe he is already there. . .

I decided to make the most of a rainy afternoon to sort out our kitchen cupboards. That was a massive mistake. I have no idea how two people can generate so many Tupperware containers but we have two massive bin bags full of them now. I have told hoarder DH that I am binning old ones or takeaway ones. We have good ones and have no need for such a huge number. All this was hindered by a moment of madness where I decided that a jug should be moved from one cupboard to another. Big mistake. Inside the jug was a long forgotten about bag of bird seed. Said bird seed was feeding about a million weevils. They were everywhere. Having grown up on a farm I not squeamish about such things but I do hate having to clean the dashed things up. All this meant that I spent several hours with all manner of shit all over the kitchen with P 'helping'. This help largely consisted of carrying a bottle of Norwegian spirit around the room and removing and replacing its plastic lattice cover while exclaiming 'hat! Hahahahaha!"

For a treat I made us chocolate stuffed bananas with ice cream with a few strawberries on the side. Random baby completely ignored the nana and tried to scrape the offending icrecream and chocolate off her precious moarbreez. She then ate the rest of the moarbreez punnet.

DH is currently planning our mini-break to Amsterdam on Friday. P is going on her holidays to granny and grandpa and we are off for two nights. Pre-P we holidayed in Amsterdam all the time. We haven't been for years now so DH is desperate to ensure that not one minute is wasted. We are off to a concert on the Friday night and then a goody day on Saturday with two nice meals booked. The weather is supposed to be lovely so I am now vair excited!

In other news I was interested to read gt's post asking about how to get everyone out the house on time. I am likely to be picking everyone's brains in the coming weeks as when DH starts his job it will be both of us full time and driving to opposite sides of the county. I will need to think about evening meals which allow us all to eat together and easy but balanced meals. DH and I have always taken soup for lunch and have habitually made pots on Sundays - we can keep doing this so I was looking at tiny flasks for p. Does anyone have one? Any recommendations? She loves soup and does a very good job of eating it so it would be good to send her with it at least once a week seeing as we are eating it too.

Any words of wisdom from the quiche then please hit me!!

Passmethecrisps · 14/07/2014 20:49

Hoots! Long one. Sorry, lasses

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 22:27

Pass we find cooking a night ahead works well for us, so we can just reheat when we get in and all eat together. Then we cook for the next night after he's in bed or put something in the slow cooker. On nursery nights he has tea there and either just picks off our plates or has a second supper of boiled eggs, crumpets etc with us. Thai curries, veg curries, pasta, stews, shepherd's pie, pies generally all work well cooked the night before and give good freezeable leftovers for toddler meals. I intersperse it with quick teas like quiche and salad, grilled fish and steamed veg - prepping and peeling veg the night before.

Pikz · 14/07/2014 22:35

Yep I do the same as YW and on Sundays I tend to get mon and tues teas done. Everything laid out night before.

ValiumQueen · 15/07/2014 05:31

With J being an early riser I have plenty of time in the morning to do all I need to do. I batch cook for him at the weekends so he has a variety of meals in the freezer to choose from. He has lunch and dinner at nursery, and I have to provide these. The girls eat with us when we all land home, and J has his supper and meds, as it is quite late by then.

KiltedKoala · 15/07/2014 05:52

Morning laydeez from sunny East Yorkshire, our first holiday since O was born. We've been here since Friday, staying in the most gorgeous barn conversion (thank you Tesco vouchers) on a working farm. It's so well set up for children, there's a whole barn given over to being a playroom with a massive sandpit and about 20 trucks, cars and bikes for kiddies to enjoy. We've been out and collected our own eggs for breakfast, and there's chickens, guinea pigs, horses, sheep and goats all around. O is particularly loving the goats, although they're not keen when she pokes grass through the fence and shouts 'EAT IT!' at them Grin

It's the first time O has slept anywhere other then home, or my parents (where her bedroom is set up pretty similarly to home). I was all prepared and brought her blackout blind with us, only to find that our bedroom here has 2 windows, and 4 glass bricks right up near the ceiling (very high as it's a barn conversion) which meant the first 3 nights were a real struggle for her sleep-wise. Last night was much better, she went down without crying, but if she wakes in the night she finds it hard to get back to sleep as it's so light, and we're in the same room which is a novelty for her so she stands up, calls out mummy or daddy and giggles. Last night I could hear her whispering 'Daddy sleep'...I don't know people share rooms with babies this age, she's so noisy in the night!

Anyway, that's my only grumble, we're having a fantastic time!

Haven't caught up with the thread yet, but saw on FB that Kyz and E are home which is wonderful news. These babies do like to scare us from time to time.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Wandathewindfairy · 15/07/2014 16:39

I have just channeled Darrell Rivers and swam 33 lengths (bout 1/2 mile) of the outdoor fresh seawater pool.

Mistakes were made......

I just wore shorts and didn't take warm clothes to change I to when I got out

I didn't take a flask of so ething warm for afters

I didn't take a really big towel to wrap up in

So I drove home feeling a bit wobbly and freezing. I'm still warming up....but...I bloody loved it. I could have carried on, I love love loved it.

O is soaking himself with the outdoor tap as I write this so that he can replicate how I feel!

PetiteRaleuse · 15/07/2014 16:46

That sounds lovely laugh

Well done wanda did you slap a fellow swimmer who was being a bit of a wuss and get told off by Miss Potts?

Awful night here. The girls wouldn't settle and we couldn't risk leaving them to settle either as the stairs here are v steep and the floors are concrete. And am not a worrier but is v stressful with two curious toddlers.

Wandathewindfairy · 15/07/2014 18:00

Actually I was nearly that wuss when I was getting in it was so freezing I could never have imagined it, but I just dope in in the end.

Wandathewindfairy · 15/07/2014 18:00

Dove.

GTbaby · 15/07/2014 18:36

Confused H and I got in from nursery/work at 5. Had to put him to bed at 5.30 as he was an exhausted screaming mess.
What time do I wake him for dinner? He hasn't eaten much in days. But worried if I let him sleep all night he will wake in middle of night.

GTbaby · 15/07/2014 19:00

Am feeding A and can hear H chatting. So will get him up for a feed. A calm evening be worth H being awake later. Let's see how rest of the evening goes...

Donnadoon · 15/07/2014 19:52

Getting everyone up and out on time ?
I'm up at 5 am with dd3, I do all the lunchboxes after she's fed.it's lovely to have the house to myself for an hour, just peace and quiet, DH gets up at 6 and then the rest of them start moving so we are all up and starting to get ready for 7am
The only downside is I'm tatered by 9 pm

BigPigLittlePig · 15/07/2014 20:17

Evening all.

Am just scoffing a cornetto. I'm 99% sure they have shrunk over the years. Still as yummy as ever though.
