BP that makes me cry too. A lot of things like that are more sad for me post-DC.

BigPigLittlePig · 13/07/2014 22:20

Must be something in the south-westerly waters Zamboni Wink

Passmethecrisps · 13/07/2014 22:24

Oh god. Titanic is horrific. I cried so much I was almost sick when I saw that at the cinema.

DH and I were catching up on actual telly recently and actual telly has adverts. Last night there was a UNICEF one (images of p size children sleeping in gutters) and another charity who I can't remember because I couldn't bear it.

TheDetective · 13/07/2014 22:27

I cry at everything and anything. It doesn't even have to be particularly sad! I cried at Harry Potter FFS!

I think it's when he is teething, he throws in a few mammoth sleepathons. He seems to wake at around 8.30ish, but after a minute or two of chatting where I think, oh I'll go and get him now, he just goes back to sleep Confused. This last week the earliest he has been up is 9.45, and 11.30 today was the latest. Quite frankly, I think he'd have slept longer. But some squeaky springs woke him up. No IDEA what that could have been. Grin

Passmethecrisps · 13/07/2014 22:33

Harry potter IS sad!!

BigPigLittlePig · 13/07/2014 22:37

Glad it's not just me then Smile

TheDetective · 13/07/2014 22:37

Oh good! DP laughed at me Grin.

Passmethecrisps · 13/07/2014 22:42

Really? Harry potter is one of the saddest things like ever in the whole world.

Tiny baby is orphaned by a mass murderer and spends his life on the care of awful foster parents who emotionally abuse him into he is wrested from them into a world where he is both famous and infamous. He then goes on to fight battles far beyond his years and anyone who might be close to a family figure does defending him and what he stands for.

Heartbreaking

Zamboni · 13/07/2014 22:51

Harry Potter is v sad.

The first time I went to the cinema after S was born was to see LesMis. In the previews was the advert for The Impossible. At the part where the mum sees the wave and can't reach all her children I fucking lost it. I was howling. At the pre-film trailer. Snot dripping and noisy, whole body heaving sobs. DH made me leave the cinema to pull myself together. And then LesMis followed. The other people in the cinema's experienced was ruined by me that day.

And that's really the tip of the iceberg (no pun intended) since having DC. I just cannot take anything to do with children.

Our firm charity of the year is a children's hospice. They did a presentation at an event with our clients, including a speech by the grandfather of a former patient. I had to utterly tune out the presentation, pinch my leg hard and give myself a stern talking to in order to hold myself together.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/07/2014 22:57

I don't know if the fucking fireworks which are making my windows rattle are for Bastille Day or German celebrations but it's fucking midnight and if they wake up the kids I'll be seriously pissed off. They have been going on for 15 minutes and have given me a headache. Twats.

Harry Potter is so sad. I think all 8 of the films and most of the books made me howl at some point. And that was mainly pre kids.

StuntNun · 13/07/2014 22:58

Detective I like to use leftover roast lamb/beef for shepherds/cottage pie but you can use fresh mince too. 1-2 chopped onions, 2 chopped medium carrots, 2 sticks of celery fried in oil or butter (you can also 'seeth' them in a small amount of water if you are cutting down on fat and don't mind a lot of stirring), add about 500g meat, a tin of tomatoes OR a tin of baked beans, seasoning and a shake of mixed herbs, maybe crumble in a stock cube as well. Simmer over a low heat for at least 20 minutes. In an oven dish top the meat sauce with mashed potato and sprinkle cheese and/or breadcrumbs on top. Bake at 180 for 20-30 minutes.

It's not tooooo bad until someone expects you to actually speak, I find. Like, actual proper words.

It's a bloody good job I knew early on paediatrics was not for me, otherwise my whole career would be down the swanney.

Am off to bed.

Dh soon to follow. He stinks, to the point where he keeps getting whiffs of himself (suspect this is leftover mud smell, from falling in a ditch whilst attempting Bear gryllls moment). Instead of being disgusted, he is actually a bit proud. Sometimes men are really gross Envy

Passmethecrisps · 13/07/2014 23:12

I refuse to believe that Harry potter in its full is not the saddest thing in the whole world.

zamboni the ice cream man kept coming back to check on me while watching titanic. I was probably 20. I haven't even considered watching Impossible as it would actually make be combust

persepolis123 · 13/07/2014 23:19

I'm not someone who cries easily but I always shed a tear at Titanic.

Thinking of Kyz's little E. Fingers crossed it's just a bug and nothing more serious.

I'm finding it really difficult to stop stressing about this pregnancy. I wonder if I will be able to get an early scan to put my mind at ease a bit?

TheDetective · 14/07/2014 00:18

Thanks Stunt! We don't ever cook beef or lamb for there to be any left overs Grin. DP said we have lamb mince in the freezer (from his last attempt at making something for O!). Would that work?

I bawled my eyes out when Fred (or was it George?!) died. That sent me right over the edge!

GTbaby · 14/07/2014 06:32

So tiered. Woke up too early and now am sat ready waiting to get harjun up.

So big news here is H LIKES baths?!? After 6 months of screaming. Like flicking a switch. He asks for a bath. And sit in front of the running tap with a little bowl filling and emptying it of water. Not allowed to turn tap off. Only 2nd bath but hopefully it sticks.

Been loads this week that I thought I must tell you... Can't remember anything else now!

Right better get him up.

PetiteRaleuse · 14/07/2014 07:27

perse it's normal to stress. An early scan is a good idea but I'd try and get it at about 7 at the earliest. 8 better. Reason being there's more for them to measure and at 8 weeks you are sure to get a hb. I was worried sick the beginning of my pg with LO as at 6w6d there was no heartbeat and I spent 10 days worrying. You could already ask for your blood to be tested twice over the next week to see if your hcg levels are going up. In an ideal world I'd say wait and see, but I understand that you want to do something practical for reassurance, and I was able to do that here.

StuntNun · 14/07/2014 07:45

Det they taste better if made with cooked meat but there's no problem using mince instead.

Perse I had a couple of early scans with J. I thought I had an ectopic at one point and went to A&E who took me up to obs and gynae for a scan. Then a bit later on I paid for a private scan which was well worth it as they took a bit more time over it and it meant I could take my mum, DS1 and DS2 with me.

Happy Bastille Day PR. Is there anything exciting going on in your village to mark the date?

PetiteRaleuse · 14/07/2014 08:16

Some v loud fireworks last night zamboni and as for today I don't know. Am about to head off to the Loire Valley for a couple of days :)

Wandathewindfairy · 14/07/2014 08:45

det the cottage pie recipe in the Ella's kitchen red book is ace! Infact I am doing it today for FIL and the boys as MIL is away Nd FIL will really only have nursery food, I will photograph it and put it in fb.

Wandathewindfairy · 14/07/2014 08:46

Have a great time sampling the lovely Loire food and wine.

Wandathewindfairy · 14/07/2014 09:07

Right. Have finished scoffing now.

Hope today goes well gt h and a will prob will be busy picking up loads of colds and bugs up as they start Nursery and build up their immune systems. So be prepared for it and get in the calpol! Will you have them I. Nursery while you are off on the summer Hols? That would work out great as if they do need a day at home you won't have to worry.

I am really really missing the DDs today. DD1 has her transition day for going to middle school so is really starting to grow up. I don't think is that particularly that has set me off. I am just missing them. We had our
Sunday night chat last night and .

DD1 chatters away, not like I haven't seen her for ages, but like I saw her in the morning or something. Telling me all about Brownie camp and the lack of sleep on night one then how they all conk out on night two! She really does want to be Darell Rivers I think!

DD2 bounces up to the phone "did you hear that Ping" she shouted, she doesn't really care for regaling you with what she has been doing, she lives in the moment.

So I have had a weep this morning. Only 2 weeks to go. Then it is the summer Hols and they will be here.

Is a holiday day here today, DH has taken the boys off to make a playroom in the loft of the garage Confused so I have a bit of peace. Ironing or knitting?

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/07/2014 09:37

pr have a fab time.

perse I agree with pr. I think an early scan is a good idea but I wouldn't go for one until 8wks. I know it seems like an age away but having one before that, certainly before 7wks, could just provide you with unnecessary worry.

wanda I was thinking the other day that it can't be too long till you see your girls. Are they coming to you?

Had a good weekend. I enjoyed my sister's birthday do on Saturday. DH wasn't too grumpy and at least there's no other nights out on the horizon for him to moan about. The only things coming up are where I'm out and he is babysittingSmile Then yesterday we had a lovely day pottering around the garden and park. Some friends popped over in the afternoon. They have 2 boys similar ages to my girls. Was nearly a perfect sunday. A roast dinner would have topped it off but we had spag bol instead, the girls favourite.

I think I'm going to have to get out the maternity clothes. I'm only just over 15wks but seem to have ballooned in the last week. My bump is quite sore and tender nr my belly button area. very irritating.

Elizadoesdolittle · 14/07/2014 09:39

wanda just realised you said they will be going to you. How lovely.

Right, I'd best get in the shower!
