That's interesting wanda. I was fully dialated but mw was about to finish for the day. She didn't want to swop mw at the pushing stage. So I ended up waiting about an hour in the end. Maybe that's why I only had to push through 3 contractions?

Paisleychick · 11/07/2014 13:43

I was in complete denial that I was in labour until quite far into it. I had to google what to do and I think that's the only thing that got me though it, winging it, lol.

A very gentle congrats to you perse

Wow, Det, looks like everything is back on track with you and dp, exciting!!

And thanks Pr, I feel like sometimes I just feel the opposite of what everyone else does and I'm not sure if I should post or just stay quiet.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/07/2014 13:43

perse congratulations :)

PetiteRaleuse · 11/07/2014 13:45

paisley I often feel the opposite of what others say too but you might have noticed it doesn't stop me posting :o and I've never been flamed on here. I think we respect our differences quite amicably.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/07/2014 13:48

Ooh. Get that turn of phrase. I've been watching Cranford on my BBC app player thingie. It's very sweet.

Paisleychick · 11/07/2014 13:56

Pr true, true. Will just speak up next time!!

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/07/2014 14:16

Congratulations perse I have everything crossed for you.

I was pro drugs and willing to take anything and everything offered to me. As it turns out both girls had different ideas and there was no time for pain relief. I had to have an epidural after with DD1 as I had a 3rd degree tear. I wasn't allowed a home birth with E as I was classed as high risk. That said I never made it to the bloody hospital anyway. I didn't really push it though but my midwife was shit. This time I am back under the same midwife as I was with DD1 and she was actually pro home birth so hopefully I will get one this time. It's not particularly that I want to be at home, more that I'll never make it to the hospital so may as well have it planned that I don't need to try.

Lily311 · 11/07/2014 14:46

perse thinking of you, congratulations!!

PetiteRaleuse · 11/07/2014 14:51

eliza I didn't realise you were a fast labourer so to speak. A friend of mine had an unintentional VBAC at home a year or so ago. She was due and ELCS but baby decided otherwise. Her DH caught the baby just as the ambulance arrived.

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/07/2014 14:59

pr My DH delivered E too. Ambulance arrived 15 mins after E was born. He didn't make it to DD1's birth as he was still on train coming home from work. So it was just me for that labour (well and 2 midwives thank god). Goodness knows what this labour will be like! Probably 3 days of sheer hell to make up for it Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 11/07/2014 15:08

Rumour has it that fast labours get faster every time.

Paisleychick · 11/07/2014 15:14

My first labour was 3 days, 2nd was 8 hours or so, from when contractions first became regular and painful. Id been having what I thought was braxton hicks from the Thursday and H was born Sunday morning. My waters had to be broken in hospital both times

Wandathewindfairy · 11/07/2014 15:29

perse congrats. Everything crossed. Xxx

izzybizzybuzzybees · 11/07/2014 15:56

I had a fast labour with dd but J had other ideas. Both were inductions with drip and all sorts and both were with gas and air only. I begged for pethidine but when the midwife left the room I started pushing and screamed to hubby to get someone. I then retained placenta and effectively my body was pushing for a further two hours... Hence my pf issues now. That divert ended up in a blood transfusion.... Maybe I'm glad I'm not allowed any more.

BigPigLittlePig · 11/07/2014 16:04

Oh I know I was being a bit irrational, as it were. But it was just the way there was so much emphasis on the fact that it was amazing because she hadn't had pain relief etc. For me theamaIng thing is, she hasgrown an entire baby from 1 cell and brought it into the world - who cares if she was high as a kite on drugs, or "breathed through the pain" (nearly slapped my mw when she told me to do that), or exited via the sun roof.

Anyhoo.

Exciting news about all these babies and potential babies! Fingers crossed for all that need it.

F puked in the car. Baby puke + hot car = whiffy.

PetiteRaleuse · 11/07/2014 17:28

I've just received my end of year reports for the girls. First of many head in hands moments. Was done orally. I have apparently bred two pack leaders who couldn't give a damn about being punished. In fact DD1 does something naughty then goes and sits in the naughty spot without being told. 10 minutes is their max. "it's like she enjoys the opportunity for a rest".

No surprises there then.

I don't think you were being irrational pig it was a foregivable thing to write in an emotional moment but still an insensitive thing to write. Meh. Anyway.

Wandathewindfairy · 11/07/2014 18:34

I didn't think you were being irrational bp I just wondered if there was another dimension!

Friday night crisps and Wine. Where is the crisps emoticon anyway? I am sure it would get more use than Biscuit

Is a very important day here tomorrow Confused. Not sure how it will go.

StuntNun · 11/07/2014 18:38

Det I had a VBAC with DS2 and tried for one with J. It's because I've had two ante-partum haemorrhages that it would be a compulsory CS for DC4. I can't see it happening to be honest. Much though I would like another one, there's no way I could cope. DS2 is under assessment for ADD now and DH and I strongly suspect it will be positive. So DS1 is ASD/ADHD/gifted and DS2 is dyslexic and likely ADD to boot. So far J only has his sleep and food issues to contend with but it would not surprise me one bit if he has learning or behavioural issues too.

What's happening tomorrow wanda sorry if I've missed something.

Wandathewindfairy · 11/07/2014 19:07

Is 12 July which is a whole new experience for me. A big family day here in the kingdom. Very contentious in other parts.

Lily311 · 11/07/2014 19:09

I missed it as well wanda. It's been raining all day. Typically I have open air theatre tickets and the babysitter supposed to come. Just called it off as it's still raining. Hoping that they will cancel the performance as the rain day is on Sunday and the weather forecast is good. Grrr.

We had to keep listening to the frozen soundtrack today, o absolutely loves it. She hasn't seen the cartoon though.

Wandathewindfairy · 11/07/2014 19:11

I think stunt that is very sensible. Though sensibility isn't always easy. You never know things may ease up. In any case we should organise for you to have a day down here over the Hols. Xx

Rowingdowntheriver · 11/07/2014 19:26

Have not fully caught up yet but just wanted to say detective i wanted a vba2c this time round but was told categorically no, that is against the NICE guidelines and no hospital would allow it. When I told the consultant that my friend had in she didn't believe me!

BigPigLittlePig · 11/07/2014 19:49

Rowing that is Shock - even 7y ago when I did my obstetrics placements, they were discussing vbacs with patients - encouraging them, even.

Dh is watching dsd in her end of term play - she is a weasel Hmm

Passmethecrisps · 11/07/2014 19:51

Happy Friday lovely chums

I feel for you wanda. My sister dreads the 12th. I have Los of family who will be enjoying the festivities and I live in a part of town where bad feeling is pretty strong. I hope it is all ok.

I am very, very pleased for you perse.

And to you det! Good job. I am so pleased that things are falling into place for you. Fingers crossed.

You have certainly been given a challenge stunt but I think you cope exceptionally well. Your boys sound fabulous. I do understand the dilemma though.

We were at play date today. It was a long way - 3 hour round trip in scorching heat but my word p enjoyed herself! It was with a family whose children are older but who were generously endowed with outside toys. P squealed and bounced and vroom vroomed and presented us all with a delicious array of plastic food-stuffs. It made me feel quite guilty as she has nothing here at all outside. Mind you I think the attention of several older children helped no end. The conclusion from all present was that she is a whirlwind. She seems to be asleep now mind you which is the earliest in a fair while.

Bad news about the open air theatre lily. Typical.
