Definitely. It's a bit like having a whole new 4am club on the thread!

Tonight (so far) hasn't been too bad: DS has fed 9-10pm, 12.30-1.45am, and now 4am onwards... We'll see how this one goes though as he now has the hiccups! I can cope when I get at least 2 hours sleep between feeds.

icklekid · 30/07/2014 06:07

its I'm exactly the same 2h is some kind of magical time as makes sleep worth it. Been feeding on and off since 4 Sad so sleepy now...

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 30/07/2014 06:57

Oh no! Hope you're asleep now. I just got woken by DS demanding food 1 hour after I put him down (dunno if DH getting up for work disturbed him, but that wasn't part of the deal!)

icklekid · 30/07/2014 07:53

Nope no more sleep for mummy- ds asleep on me for last couple of hours! Granny is visiting so he is asleep on her whilst I get dressed! Hope you get some more sleep!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 30/07/2014 09:04

Nope, no more sleep here either. Fed, then put him down - he woke 20 mins later with wind, changed and topped and tailed him - now feeding again! I have a mate coming round later - I hope he won't freak out if I'm still in my pjs when he gets here!

elliejjtiny · 30/07/2014 11:27

Not much sleep here last night. I think he knew he was being weighed today so thought he would get some extra feeds in. It worked though as he is now 9lb 2oz. I'm so tired and DS2 and DS3 are arguing again.

teaandkittens · 30/07/2014 14:12

Its- I haven't been out of pjs since dd was born! She's 8 days old now. I have no idea how people get out and about with their babies...we were still in bed at 12 today.

Nipple still sore but managed a feed last night with help from lovely NCT counsellor and just did one now to relieve the swelling- dd is much better at it than my hand expressing.

Been constantly crying for past 48 hours- is this baby blues?! I just feel a bit crap because whenever it's time for a feed I just get so frustrated. Dh takes her away so I can rest quite a lot and I just think I should be able to have her all the time instead of needing a break.

Whinge over.

We might brave a walk out later. Terrifying!!

AuntieMaggie · 30/07/2014 16:57

tea unless I have to go somewhere like the doctors I'm still upstairs in pjs in the early afternoon! Getting ready in the mornings when ds is most awake means leaving him to cry while I do :(

DS slept equally badly last night- awake after an hour and then restless until about 4 when it was getting light. Luckily dp took him off me so I got a couple of hours but he was awake and hungry again by 6. I could cope with the previous 3 hours and then every 1-2 hour routine but this new one is ridiculous!

icklekid · 31/07/2014 02:47

Oh auntie hope ds got back into your 3h routine, that's similar to what we get 3h first sleep then 2h then 1-2h... fingers crossed we go to 4.30 as we aren't very good at going back to sleep then so more sleep the better! So tired and currently playing the how long are you asleep on me before I risk putting you down game...

If anyone is awake and wants something funny to read this thread on funny things kids say is great www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2142774-Toddler-wisdom-that-made-you-laugh-out-loud?pg=1&order=

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 31/07/2014 03:32

Love that thread! Thanks.

icklekid · 31/07/2014 09:49

We made it to 4.30 then down in moses basket by 5.15- dh woke me up at 7 when he left...was amazing to have got more sleep Smile

So confession ds fell asleep just after I heard him fill his nappy. ..he's still asleep 30mins later. Would you have woken and changed or left until he wakes? How bad a mum am I? Need to take him to be weighed between 10-11.30 so will clean before we go but hate waking him up!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 31/07/2014 15:37

I'd probably (if I thought I could without waking him) try and have a sneaky peek to see how bad it was before deciding! If only a little bit of poo I'd prob let him sleep. Sometimes it sounds worse than it is!

teaandkittens · 31/07/2014 16:56

If you two are bad for leaving a nappy on, I am the ultimate in neglectful mothers...she was sleeping so beautifully last night that I left her in a nappy for 3+ hours. (And I was too sleepy to get up and change her)

On the plus side health visitor came today and says im doing really well haha Smile

Dp goes back to work on Monday- I'm terrified! My mum wants to come and "help" but I don't want anyone to be here except dp! Maybe it will be nice hanging with dd alone?

icklekid · 31/07/2014 18:16

tea my mum came for 1 night- 2 days I gave her lots of jobs- cooking, cleaning, washing, gardening which made it work. She was good really and got some granny cuddles.

So pleased I'm not a totally awful mother- was glad I didn't change as there was more to come, he then woke up and changed him. We have had 2 very full nappies today waiting for the overflowing one...perhaps need to check more often when he's not crying!

Fourlittleclones · 31/07/2014 22:43

Hello all .have just popped over from other thread.
don't worry - at night I have been known to leave them for more than that! I think as long as there is no sign of nappy rash then it's ok. Let sleeping babies lie !

ismarah · 01/08/2014 00:02

So before bean arrived I was adamant that DH would be involved - the idea of daddy babysittinga made me seethe - he's no more babysitting than I am - he's parenting. Hollow laugh.

Bean goes quite screamy in the evenings between 8-11 or so - clearly having issues with her bodily functions. We've been giving her infacol but it doesn't seem to help her bowel movements. Anything else we can try? She currently does huge wees but poos only 1x per 36hrs or so. At this point with a growth spurt she's mostly FF with the occasional BF mostly for comfort rather than nutrition.

DH helpfully suggested I BF more because some babies struggle to digest lactose. Somehow this hit all my irrational rage buttons and I'm still quite grrr but fighting to be normal.

Fourlittleclones · 01/08/2014 02:33

Same here. We are now on day three and no poo. Mixed feeding but mostly bf - 2 x 60ml a day top ups. It's a bit alarming isn't it? Hope he goes today but dread to think of the explosion .,must be tons in there!

icklekid · 01/08/2014 11:29

I think ds is pooing enough for everyone on the thread! Horrific amounts especially at 4am!

teaandkittens · 01/08/2014 12:34

Yep, dd is epic pooer also- we've had 4 already this morning! Can we share it out a bit more please?! Grin

ismarah · 01/08/2014 14:36

Bean did lots of little poos initially but as the FF has increased she finds it a bit harder to digest and so they are bigger and less frequent.

So after my grump yesterday about both DH and bean, she promptly slept through from about half past midnight to nearly 6am. And when she woke, DH fed her and let me sleep till nearly 9! So I take back everything I ever said - and boy does that man know me.

Today I was able to articulate what had upset me yesterday and explained and we're cool and groovy.

AuntieMaggie · 01/08/2014 16:23

ickle how long are you asleep on me before I risk putting you down game - we play this game every time ds goes to sleep!

icklekid · 01/08/2014 19:51

auntie glad its not just me- now ds likes to play a new game. I go down in my basket fine but only for 15mins when I wake up screaming. ..who has a solution for this please? Would persevering with swaddling help so can't move arms?

ismarah that sounds epic I have decided to try expressing this weekend so dh can feed and I can sleep!

AuntieMaggie · 01/08/2014 20:13

ickle yep ds does that too... or the amount of time it takes me to just drop off to sleep! He used to like being swaddled but now it just makes him fidget til he frees his hands!

Those of you expressing... what pumps are you using?

Fourlittleclones · 01/08/2014 20:13

ickle with ds2 I found something called a swaddle pod worked and stopped him waking himself up with the startle reflex . It zips up to the chin and they can't work their arms out like some do in swaddles.

Just popping in to mark my place! Very happy to have graduated to post-natal Grin
