ickle I'm still bleeding a bit too - not very much but it's still there and I'm still wearing pads just in case. Someone in my NCT group said she was still bleeding at 6 weeks and that it came and went.

Fourlittleclones · 05/08/2014 07:40

ickle I thought I had stopped bleeding last week (five weeks post birth) but last night there was a tiny bit of browny blood.
My mw was the opposite to yours when I saw her at 4 weeks and was very reassuring and said up to 6 weeks was quite common

GrouchyKiwi · 05/08/2014 09:14

ickle last time I bled for nearly 6 weeks.

Nipples still intact - just. Going to take the little one to a breastfeeding clinic today to see if they can work out why she's killing my nipples since MW thinks her latch looks good.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/08/2014 10:05

Eugh. We had a bit of a break from the feeding/winding/crying overnight but it's back again since the 5 am feed. He's spitting up a lot too. Think today is going to be a very long day.

NancyinCali · 05/08/2014 10:22

We've got a nocturnal baby this time around. She's been sleeping most of the day inbetween feeds and the moment we bring her to bed her eyes ping open and she's wide awake. Now 2.20am and she may be ready to sleep...

Think we may be having a lot of naps later (thank goodness for daycare for DD1).

She's awake!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/08/2014 11:01

Oh dear Nancy! Hope she sleeps soon.

We just had a projectile poo incident. All over me and the carpet. Third one in as many days... Made up slightly for by the fact DS then calmly lay on his playmat for enough time for me to shower and dress.

What did new parents do before Netflix?

AuntieMaggie · 05/08/2014 11:06

Thank you for the suggestions to help dp - I'll look into them. We're seeing some of her side of the family this weekend which is going to be hard.

I stopped bleeding after 2 weeks but it's started again this week which mw said might happen. I think breastfeeding affects it too because of the hormones.

AuntieMaggie · 05/08/2014 11:08

its I've only managed to turn Netflix on this week!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/08/2014 11:10

maggie me too! If ever there was a time to use a free trial subscription...

NancyinCali · 05/08/2014 11:33

3.30am and I'm watching Netflix with the nocturnal baby while DH gets some rest so we can switch out later!

AuntieMaggie · 05/08/2014 13:18

mrsa I just remembered in the early days in hospital I or the mws would squeeze/fold nipple to get more of it in ds's mouth and now he opens his mouth widely...

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/08/2014 14:28

DS is still fairly inconsolable today. Should I worry about the fact he's being a little sick after every feed? I was writing it off as just something babies do but he's being so miserable and not sleeping for more than 20-30 minutes that I'm getting worried. I'm winding him during and after feeds, and giving him Infacol but nothing seems to help :(

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/08/2014 14:32

He'll feed when I offer it but I'm also worried that it's just for comfort and that he's getting too much which is why he's being sick? Or is that silly? Feel really useless as he's so upset and feeding seems to be the only thing that sort of works but it's followed by a massive attack of wind.

Casmama · 05/08/2014 16:17

I maybe totally wrong Holiday but I would be wondering about reflux.
this might be useful.

ismarah · 05/08/2014 16:30

Today I have learnt that even if pre-pregnancy jeans fit (OK, the fat ones and there's all the muffin top ever, but still) you might not be comfortable 8hrs later as your insides are slowly smushed.

IABOH If you're breast feeding or formula feeding babies apparently can't have too much, there's no force feeding them...

There's also a difference between spit up (or as my DD does, failed swallows) and vomit. Spit up is nothing to worry about even if it happens every time, but vomit is obviously not good. Babies can be affectes by the things you eat if BF but they can also be allergic to milk. If he's that uncomfortable it might be worth having a quick doctors visit, if only for peace of mind and reassurance.

Also if you're BFing, he might be hungry? Every time I think DD can't possibly want any more...she does. The only things she proper screams for is more milk and the occasional number twos..

its my DS vomits after every feed. I spoke with a pediatrician who reckons its reflux and has advised me to keep him upright for 20-30 mins after every feed and to stop and wind after every 10 mins of feeding. it seems to really help but the feeds take AGES

ismarah i have lumpy bits under thev stiches too. as i understand, they are completely normal..hope that reassures you a bit but do check with your GP when you go foir your 6 week check

ickle thank you. DH runs his own company and will have to work like this for another 6 months or so. Shame he also has to work weekends but not for as long

auntie i feel for you. thinking of you..

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 05/08/2014 17:43

Thanks everyone, we're breast feeding - and he has been feeding most of the day - it's just that usually he sleeps for a bit between feeds and isnt in quite as much pain/irritable tad this. Having said that he's just slept for a couple of hours (while I had a friend here so couldn't sleep!).

I really hope it isn't reflux but I guess it might he. I think it's just the same amount as usual spit up. Will keep an eye and maybe make a GP appointment tomorrow.

AuntieMaggie · 05/08/2014 18:53

its could it be he's being sick because he's so upset? And could he be suffering from bottom wind? My ds has had the odd day like that

MrsA2 · 05/08/2014 19:43

Auntie, I do sometimes squeeze the boob to get more in but you've made me realise I could definitely do that more to help her open up - good idea, thanks.

Ismarah, I have a lumpy bit on one side of the stitches. I think I read somewhere actually that the side the doctor stands might be a little less neat as they kind of pull things closed towards them? My lumpy bit is that side anyway but could just be chance rather than true!

Its- that sounds tough and from what I've read does sound like it could be reflux. We are getting spit ups every feed and vomit every three or four feeds, but for us I think it's when I don't get the wind up and then she feeds on top of it. It sounds like you are having much more frequent vomits though, I feel for you.

Well we had a lazy day today in the end. I was going to venture to a local baby group but at just over three wks realised DD wouldn't get anything out of it given that she just feeds and sleeps currently and so I saved myself the hassle! We had friends over for a visit late afternoon so decided just to tidy the house a little while DD slept and not stress DD out by trying to do anything else before the friends got her. She was a little angel while they were here so may have worked - or just luck!

icklekid · 05/08/2014 22:52

its gosh what a painfully frustrating day for you especially sleeping when visitors here Sad as for feeding for short amounts of time my health visitor today said its heat related and because they want a drink. Make sure to keep offering same boob so they get the fatty milk not just filling up on first bit was her advice to me...

mrsa I think only reason to go to baby groups this age is to have something to do to save our sanity- not stuck inside and can have other parents share the joys of parenthood!

coco fingers crossed the time flies!

So ds wasn't screaming all evening. He got upset and tired as normal then. ..fell asleep. ..woke up, fed and. ..fell asleep! Absolutely amazing to have not have spent the evening crying! Even if next 6 weeks he cries every eve good to know how it can and will eventually be like!!!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 06/08/2014 01:15

DS has been a lot calmer this evening. coco am trying to take your advice and sit him up a bit after a feed as well as all the winding! I think also finally having a long nap has helped!

mrsa sounds like a good day!

ickle glad you got a break from the screaming.

NancyinCali · 06/08/2014 01:44

DD2 has been more awake during the day today so hoping that might help night time sleeping. We went on our first little outing: lunch with DH and I fed her in public for the first time. Had a nice nap snuggled up together this pm.
DD1 and DM have a cold so will see if baby gets it. Hope not Hmm.

ismarah · 06/08/2014 10:01

Is there anything I can give bean to help her poo? She spent hours in the middle of the night, struggling with it and it's kind of hard to watch and hear. Her poos are the right colour but not watery at all and she poos about 1x every 24/36hrs.

Howly · 06/08/2014 10:50

I've finally made it onto the post natal thread!!

Firstly I have 2 second hand Madela swing single breast pumps so I'm keeping one and selling the other, before I put it in ebay would anyone like to buy it on here? It's in excellent condition and includes extra bottle and Calma teat! I would like £65 for it (this includes cost of me sending via Hermes courier and would be with you in a few days!!) if people are not happy with me selling on this forum I will
Happily delete this post just thought one of you might the opportunity to get yourself one at half retail price!

My DD has fed little and often this morning so I'm plugged into sky catch up (and mumsnet) the tiredness is really catching up with me though!! Getting about 5/6 hours in a 24 hour period! Finding it quite difficult emotionally in late evening but soldiering on!
