Fingers crossed for you Smile

4am the toddler wakes. into our bed for cuddle and milk. I finish feeding and dh picks him up. I roll over and feel a damp patch Confused.I feel the patch and sniff my fingers. It is wee. I feel very Blush andConfused for a moment until dh comes in to tell me toddler is wet and his nappy must have leaked. phew not me Grin .

Then I put the light on to sort toddler and sheet out and below the wee patch is a lovely blood patch.

Got to love 4am.

beans39 · 10/09/2014 08:02

Ooh good luck Deids. Will keep everything crossed for you.

DD3 has a tooth. Oh yes. Don't faint. She's 1 a week tomorrow and I didn't think she'd have one by then. But yay!

Sorry for non catch up. Am feeling totally busy. Next week will be better when DD2 is in school full time. I hate this stupid 1.15 pick up time for this week! Totally messes up DD3's sleeps!!

JamInMyWellies · 10/09/2014 10:27

Good luck Dieds!

Palen, eurgh babies.

Think we too are brewing more teeth here Beans.

I know this is super shallow and at nearly 39yrs old I should be beyond being pleased about this. But I have just tried on my skinniest of jeans. That I couldn't get above my knees 3 months ago and not only do they go up they do up. With a substantial amount of overhang but thats what long t shirts are for. Wink

IAmDeids · 10/09/2014 16:15

I got the job!!GrinGrin So pleased apparently I was "head and shoulders above the other candidates". Which was nice to hear. Probably no start for a couple if months as I have to be security cleared to work in a prison. Which can be a slow process.

Oh and please find put anything on FB as I'm friends with a few work colleagues and I'm keeping stum for now.

Prosecco in the fridge as we speak Grin

IAmAPaleontologist · 10/09/2014 16:24

Brilliant! Well done you wonderful woman!

Am still not in love with new childminder. Urgh. Keeps giving me a headache thinking about it all. Kids are happy enough but it is all very nursery based if that makes sense. They do stuff in the house but they don't really go outside or to groups. Not sure she realises that unlike a nursery where all the different age groups have to take it in turns with outside space she could take them out whenever she wants! Guidelines are that under 5s need 3 hours of being physically active a day. Ds2 definitely not getting those even with playing a bit of catch in the yard. Need to talk to her. Old childminder was out and about all the time, walking here and there, going to lots of groups, going for walks down the nice rural cycle paths to see what they could find, playing out on the field behind hte house after school so big ones got to run around too (and yes new CM has a big field she could use close to her house and in a safe area where the playpark is).

I think that we might sign ds2 up at a nursery sort of nearby that puts a lot of emphasis on forest school style play and being outside a lot for his 15 hours but given the I don't think she can do the pick up we'd do 2 or 3 full days instead and pay the extra then just use the CM the remaining days. Will have to work out costs. Might be a good compromise. The 15 hours isn't until after Easter though so I need to push her into getting her act together too!

mckayz · 10/09/2014 17:32

Well done Deids!!! That is brilliant!!!

Do you think she will listen to you Paleo? It does sound frustrating.

DD refused to go outside today at play school. She just sat inside playing on her own with one of the ladies watching her. Then she helped to tidy up instead of sitting with the other children and singing. Hopefully she will be a bit more sociable soon.

Honsandrevels · 10/09/2014 19:41

Hurray! Well done deids.

Lovely to see you ZJ. Having had c sections I can't really relate to the enjoying birth bit. I'm not even remotely broody! I love my two but no more thanks.

That sounds good for a first day Kayz. It takes a while for them to play together.

Paleo Is the new minder new to minding? It seems odd to stay inside if there are other options. At dd's preschool if the weather is nice they all go outside and do independent play/ any group stuff and snack outside. I'm baffled by the car seat thing. That's a huge error. Maybe investigate other options if your gut feeling isn't good.

ShadyLadyT · 10/09/2014 20:59

Still not had time to catch up but did want to say yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay about the job. I am so very, very pleased for you DB. It sounds fascinating as well. Bloody good for you! What will your hours be? Is it more dough than what you've been doing? What did DH say?

I am putting my fingers in my ears about the baby stuff, it's way too late for me....Three weeks tonight and I will be in considerable pain in the 'ozzie but hopefully with a tiny baby to snuggle. Over my layers of stitches and catheter admittedly Grin

IAmAPaleontologist · 10/09/2014 21:12

Catheter could be seen as a plus point Lady, no need to break off the snuggling to pee Grin.

ZuleikaJambiere · 10/09/2014 22:25

Well done Deids, you superstar WineWine

JamInMyWellies · 10/09/2014 22:53

Yay go Dieds. ????

IAmDeids · 10/09/2014 23:02

Thank you lovely ladies I am so pleased! Will be doing 3 longer days ( 24 hrs) so more than now. Parents have offered help and also have school club help. Plus much more money so win win. DH very happy although the thought of working in the same establishment is a little odd! But can handle it I'm sure. The department were so welcoming and friendly, the new girl feeling not as bad as it could be Grin

ShadyLadyT · 10/09/2014 23:29

Right, finally getting self together to do a bit of a catch up. Have got my head in my hands as I have a manuscript to read, analyse and write a 5000 word report on before the end of next week. Then another one the same for before I go into hospital. In between that, I have a load of stuff to read for a new county committee I am sitting on, this Tuesday afternoon. It's bonkers. I could scream. That's without other bits of work, stuff I want to do to the house pre-baby, and pre-school committee commitments (the next meeting is at my bloody house, on bloody Wednesday). Sorry to rant. Because most of this is self-inflicted, DP has no sympathy, but it's just unfortunate it's all bunched up around now.

Indith (I should make myself call you Paleo) - that sounds annoying about the CM. You are impressively clued up, I had no idea that kids needed so much time outside. DD2 has a Forest School session every Weds afternoon and she loves it. She had one today and as usual she came back caked with mud and very happy. It's good for her because if she was out with me, she certainly wouldn't be rolling in mud. I am not very good at letting them do that stuff. Your 4am antics did not sound fun. How is your Mum now?

SO how are our school newbies, Rubes' DD and Beans' DD2 finding it? These staggered starts are very popular but they don't do them at DD1's school, it's straight into the 8.50-3.10.

Jam - how was the hol? Don't feel shallow about the jeans. I for one would be THRILLED.

Beans, you don't sound spoiled about the kitchen. I mean, what you have suggested is a fraction of what it would cost to have a brand new kitchen and it's 30 yrs old. You surely have a big say in financial decisions? I think I probably keep more of a handle on that stuff than DP. He's not very organised re: financial affairs but we don't really row about money stuff so I can"t complain.

Mom and ZJ - lovely to see you both. Mom - you have just moved house, is that right? How is work going, ZJ?

And Rubes, how is everything with you? Settling into the new house? What's the latest with DH and work?

Hons, I did smile about DD2 with a hole cut in the back of a pull up. The things we do to facilitate our children Grin

Arti, I presume you are back at work now (sorry, should call you by your new moniker) - have things clarified a bit for you over the summer re: work?

Have loads more to say, to some others and also about my MIL, but I need to sleeeeeep....more soon.

Vagolajahooli · 11/09/2014 17:16

Hello ladies. HOORAH! For the new job Deids, well done you, clearly you are blummin' awesome.

Lady I suddenly come over all exhausted reading what you have on your plate. Makes me feel a little bit of a woos not wanting to study this last couple of months. Having said that I am so glad I paused the study. DH is away until tomorrow with this London conference (& the boys were apparently poorly this morning so off school today scuppering my plans of a run packing and an erm...pedicure). He is away again next monday/tuesday, the same days the boys are off for a teacher training day & the state opening of parliament bank holiday. Now he's just informed me he is away two days the following week to go to Barcelona because his team is in the cyber Olympics. Not happy. I'm making him take two the first two weeks of October off before he starts in his new job, because otherwise I will never get this place packed up.

Vagolajahooli · 11/09/2014 17:24

I will post on FB page re: meet ups

mckayz · 11/09/2014 19:32

Cyber Olympics??

Vagolajahooli · 11/09/2014 22:14

Kayz DH tells me it is a bunch of hackers, representing their countries & companies pitting their geeky hacking skills against each other. But I think they are all sitting down playing world of warfare.

mckayz · 13/09/2014 19:00

Sounds interesting.

Vagolajahooli · 14/09/2014 18:14

DH is about to have his interview on the naked scientist. Bless, he is so excited.

Vagolajahooli · 15/09/2014 18:52

Did I break the thread with nerd talk.

JamInMyWellies · 15/09/2014 22:24

Bloody hell I am now the chair of the PTA!!

beans39 · 16/09/2014 06:04

Jam! How did you manage that??? I can't believe that you can't vote on Thursday.

Thursday is a big day here. DD3's bday, DH off to see doctor about 2 lumps in his arm, MIL having her heart stopped and restarted, Scottish vote. Jam, what are your thoughts on it. I really hope we don't separate, it would be such a shame. clearly, a facile summing up on my part. there is so much to it, but I think it would be a grave error.

DD3 generously got us all up at 4.45 this morning. tried to resettle her in our bed, but she was up and at em. both big DDs were up too on a school day. imagine my delight. Obviously, DH still fast asleep. he has a vital game of golf with work today. hmmmm. I've got a Meet the Teacher thing this morning for DD1, then just general ironing and washing. joy.

Deids, well done on the job. that's fantastic news!

right, I must cuddle my children.

beans39 · 16/09/2014 06:06

Oh yes, forgot to bore you all with our party at the weekend. 150 people fed and watered by DH and me at a cricket match. we should go into catering!!!!

MontserratCaballe · 16/09/2014 06:14

Great cooking Beans! Thought for a moment you meant T's birthday party, and I was thinking "bit excessive for a 1 year old...."

Jam, Lady is your PTA go to guru. You are very brave.

Looking forward to seeing you on that Wednesday. Did we pick a venue?

I am not looking forward to the vote. Bearing in mind the Bank which DH works for, I will never see him if it is Yes. It's been bad enough with the stuff in the last few weeks. He may as well set up home there if it is Yes.
