littlepiggie · 06/11/2006 22:28

He had carbonara

littlepiggie · 06/11/2006 22:29

tonight

Ponka · 06/11/2006 23:28

You are doing well, Littlepiggie. We're still on the veggies here both because DS pulls terrible faces and gags at everything I offer and because I haven't had the time to sort him out anything slightly more interesting .

Weclome Fifiandtheflowertots.

Debithescot. DS has also learnt how to flip himself out of his bumbo. I've just lent it to a friend today because it's no use to us now. He just hates having to sit still and just wants to crawl off into the distance and chew something so within 30 seconds of putting him in, he's out again. Poor little man has just started to get red patches on the back of his hands (carpet burn I guess) from dragging his hands across the carpets. I'm trying to pin him into chairs as much as possible at the moment to give it chance to heal but he's really not happy. It'll be much better when he learns to lift his tummy and crawl properly.

littlepiggie · 06/11/2006 23:34

sas style crawling, dont you just love it!
Master piggie stated doing it a couple if monthe ago, then stoped (think he forgot). just the odd time i find him somewhere different to where i left him.

tonton · 07/11/2006 11:38

DD2 is STILL waking up for a milk feed at night. And she really needs it - scoffs at least 6 ounces. Can't seem to get her to drink much more than 15 or so oz in the daytime. She's on 3 meals.

DebitheScot · 07/11/2006 13:51

We're on 3 meals plus bottle at bedtime. He seems to be doing well on it and only very occasionally needs some kind of snack to keep him going in between meals. He's not having milk with his lunch but is still having it with tea although I'm going to drop that bottle soon I think. He's getting enough milk in his morning bottle (5oz), with his breakfast cereal (4oz), his bedtime bottle (8oz) and at least 2 or 3oz in his food. I am having a few problems though with getting him to eat some of the new foods I've cooked him. At lunch today he refused to eat his cod, sweetcorn, pea and potato mush. He was screaming and spitting it everywhere. He then ate a petit filous and I tried to give him the fish again but screamed again. I then tried to give him a chicken thing that he ate fine yesterday but refused that too. Took him out of highchair for a bit then tried agaibn about 15 mins later when I wanted to eat my lunch too. Screamed when I put him in chair but calmed down when I gave him some bread to chew on. After a couple of fingers of bread he then ate his fish thing. I fooled him by giving him some plain carrot first then adding a spoonful of fish stuff, gave him a spoonful, added another spoon of fish and so on. He eventually ate it all but it was hard work and I was getting upset at one point.
Don't think it helps that I'd spent the whole of his first nap trying to sort out a computer problem, can feel a cold coming on and am generally feeling a bit down this week. I've had a few busy weeks with being away and having visitors and now this week I don't have much on and don't have the car (ds needs it for work but I had it last week as he was away) so can't really go very far. I'm bored of doing the same walks that I can do from home and am finding it sometimes gets a bit boring playing with the same toys all day long. I don't know many other people around here with babies so I think I'm going to have to find a mothers and toddlers group or something. Will have to go swimming again too, we haven't been for a few weeks.
Sorry about that big moan, I'm sure I'll be ok but just wanted to get it off my chest.

DebitheScot · 07/11/2006 14:00

And then every time ds sleeps I seem to spend the whole time on the internet. That can't be good for me. And it doesn't help get the housework done. And then I get annoyed at the state of the house and moan that o don't have time to keep it tody! Right that's it, I'm going to get the dishes done and the dining room tidied.....

sunnydevon · 07/11/2006 14:17

Hi tonton, my dd was like that and so I gradually diluted the milk at night and gradually reduced the amount. Then when she was only on 3-4 ounces I started controlled crying (as she was drinking more in the day - wrote about cc before). Solid food helped a lot too. It's hard as I felt guilty the first time we didn't feed her when she had cried at night, but it did work for us (she was asleep and I was lying awake feeling guilty - but good in the long run). Was also easier with me doing cc, my husband couldn't do it. Having said that, all babies are different so if you decide to give her milk at night and she is happier then you could see if she'll outgrow it?
Debithescot - don't worry about moaning, housework versus looking the net; you can see what I preferI'll be back at work soon so worrying about that tho (guilt of leaving her, will she be upset, will she be able to nap there, will she wonder what she's done to be alone - I know she'll prob have a great time and I'll be fighting back the tears in work!).

littlepiggie · 07/11/2006 23:05

Anyone else baby proofing the house?

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 08/11/2006 10:44

We've got the plug sockets in place and this morning dd managed to open one of the drawers on the sideboard which is made out of heavy redwood. I can't believe how strong she is but I"m also aghast we'll have to drill holes into our beautiful sideboard to install the drawer locks. .

I love dd to bits but the flat's turned into a pig sty with all her equipment and toys and now we have to drill holes into my well loved furniture.

DebitheScot · 08/11/2006 19:28

Haven't thought about child proofing everything yet. He's not really moving around yetbut I guess he will be soon so maybe I should get prepared.

Feel cheerier today. Spent yesterday afternoon with a friend and her 2 youngest kids and got a good sleep after a couple of glasses of wine last night. Woke up feeling better.

littlepiggie · 08/11/2006 21:47

ds is a wiggler, he wiggled from the lounge to the dinning room?

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 08/11/2006 23:58

that's an impressive wiggle

Ponka · 09/11/2006 08:15

DS is all over the house so we need it baby proofed. We are lucky in that because DS1 is only 2, it already is! Must remember to find another place for my indoor washing dryer frame things though. They are leaning against the wall in the hall and he's already pulled them down on top of him once. He makes things difficult for DS1 to wee at the moment because he is dying to get hold of his potty so as soon as it is within eye shot, he's after it! He's also terrorising our cat.

You've all got me moving on this weaning lark. I made some spaghetti bolognaise last night.

Debbie the Scot, glad to hear you are feeling better. I know what you mean about spending all your time on the internet. You should cut yourself some slack though. I think that being a mum is the most wonderful and exciting thing I've ever done yet somehow it is the most difficult/testing/mundane thing also. Finding things to do becomes harder in the winter. Being a mum to a baby/pre - school child is one of the hardest things to do. Don't worry if the house isn't perfect and try to get out as much as possible.

yellowfish · 09/11/2006 10:16

I did it! Invested (borrowed from my mum on slow loan repayment!) in a sleep consultant. Early days, but I feel like I'm taking control of my life with someone to guide me through and report to. Was ip every 2 hours for water or milk, but last night only up once for a feed, which we will gradually wean her off... Spending the money also helps you stick with the schedule - a big incentive to keep going. Message to poor sleeperss - it's not just food volume, but calories count so time to really start moving with protein-filled goodies for lunch & supper... Fingers crossed, but feeling very positive at last!

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 09/11/2006 17:18

I made pasta with tomato and basil sauce. Dd wasn't too impressed with the sauce. I think I'm going to add some carrots to sweeten it up.

I haven't attempted spag bol. Littlepiggie, ponka do your dd/ds have any trouble with the mince?

littlepiggie · 09/11/2006 20:03

Not found anything he cant eat, hes had bacon (in carbonara), just cut the pasta into inch long bit, or use shapes, i was a bit worried about master piggie swollowing one end spagetti.
Could list all the things hes eaten but it might take a while.

Ponka · 09/11/2006 23:09

That is good news, yellowfish. I hope this continues for you.

Mellow, I completely schmuched mine in a blender but then added teeny tiny pasta shapes (reeeeaally tiny Anabel Karmel ones from boots). DS did seem to have trouble with the texture, yes. I'm hoping he'll get used to it if I give him a break and try him again in a few days time.

Littlepiggie, where is this photo? I've searched for it. Off to search again now. If I fail, can you do a link?

Ponka · 09/11/2006 23:30

Phew! Found it, Littlepiggie. No need to link. How cute!

sunnydevon · 10/11/2006 09:17

Hi, joining in with the protein thread: my dd struggles if meat is too lumpy, but blended until quite smooth lamb mince has gone down a real treat - we call her 'the ganet' when she tastes lamb mince (+veg) or pear, eyes light up and she tries to grab the bowl to her mouth.
Still not interested in crawling or rolling right over at all, but loves to sit up all day and pull things towards her/shake things & loves our cat (but makes frustrated grunts at him that he doesn't move near or smile at her).
She has also just started to say 'ma,ma,ma,ma', but says it to anyone & anything and randomly so think it's just as it is an easy sound to make and repeat.
Has anyone else noticed a change in daytime naps? Dd went up to 3-4 hours naps in day (plus sleeping at night), now I've had a few days where I've had to give up on her first nap (going to check on her in a moment but not sure she's gone to sleep although tired). However, at lunchtime she does sleep around 2 hours. The last few mornings (around 6.00 am she's made some tired moans and resettled herself to be woken at 7.30). Just checked, dd is asleep so now I'm not sure if it is prob settling in at the creche (on a trial day slept half an hour all day and cried most of it, felt v. guilty at end of day)

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 10/11/2006 13:43

I have to say that my dd struggles with everything that is not pureed. I have to cook pasta till it's falling apart (quite disgusting really!) for her or she'll only eat a few mouthfuls. I don't think she's that keen on chewing .

littlepiggie · 10/11/2006 20:42

how are we all tonight?

WriggleJiggle · 10/11/2006 22:00

Hello, can't believe some of the little ones are crawling . Although wriggler wriggles constantly, she certainly doesn't want to crawl. Her sitting up is very sturdy, and she stood holding the toy box the other day.

She loves her food and eats everything we have including curry . Favourite food of the moment is sphagetti!

littlepiggie · 10/11/2006 22:09
