Ooh Inge to start a new thread. So if the last one was the one where they don't sleep, then they'll start to sleep now, yes?

I go back to work next Weds Kitty. DS started properly today. Full day today, tomorrow and Friday. I've just done a lovely yoga class and am using the next few days to have lunches, get hair cut etc. miss DS though. Sad

pear definitely want to hear all TTC details! I'm beginning to accept that I will do it all again but not yet!

We do offer it to him during the day but he doesn't drink a lot. He drinks loads of water but not so much with milk. Settled okay again last night but again, didn't drink much milk going down.

It's not about the milk, proper, it's about making sure that the little ones are still getting adequate amounts of fat for brain development. So as long as the dairy that you are giving him during the day is full-fat and you're incorporating other healthy fats (coconut oil {great on toast btw!} avocado, eggs, nut butters, etc.) in his diet then you don't need to worry about him drinking actual milk. And it sounds like he's drinking enough water, so he's staying hydrated. You're doing all the right things, mama! It's a very liberating feeling when all done with breastfeeding! I've contemplated it a few times in the past few weeks as my supply has gone way down and we're not feeding at night anymore... but she's such a mama's girl. She would be devastated if I tried to wean her. It's still very much her go-to for soothing, so we are still going on.

kittykatsforever · 30/06/2014 21:45

That's interesting to know bring, I wasn't aware it was todo with the fats, I thought it was just calcium, kitten will not drink water at all really Hmm I give the girls semi skimmed milk really as I don't like full fat so that tends to be what we have, is it really important it be full fat? I don't think anything else in their diet is low fat ie cheese etc, they both love peanut butter which is good fat I think, kitten is still a real mamas girl but I just get the booby rub and cuddles now, when she sees my nipples she just pulls them Hmm how they forget it makes me abit sad every now and again as I did lovebf but I had no supply, it felt like I was doing it for no reason really, the baby days are leaving us..... Hmm

bringonthetrumpets · 01/07/2014 04:00

Yeah. We actually get excellent sources of calcium from our food and the amount that we get from dairy is way above and beyond what we actually need. Luckily for the diary companies/associations/foundations/whatever, telling the public that they need dairy because of the calcium is enough to make people believe that it's true. The reason that we're told to move babies onto full-fat milk once they reach the age of 1 is because so many mums don't continue to breastfeed past this point (which is where babies are still continuing to meet their fat-intake needs) and there needs to be a source of fat for brain development. It's something to discuss with your HV or GP or whomever you feel most comfortable discussing your dietary needs with on what types of foods are best for your kidlets kitty I don't want to give recommendations out as I don't know the whole picture for your family.

M is totally off dairy all together as it gives her horrific eczema just like it does to DS1. We substitute unsweetened almond milk for cooking or smoothies or cereal, and sometimes she has goat's cheese which so far hasn't caused a major problem. Otherwise she just drinks breastmilk or water.

It's crazy how quickly they grow up. M was running around today! Shock It was insane how quickly she's gotten in just a week!

kittykatsforever · 01/07/2014 07:30

Kitten has developed a few patches of excema since we moved her onto cows milk, we were discussing whether to put her back on 1+ formula again as it's clearly the cause, she's never had it before! Tigger had it from a few weeks old even with bf but went completely when we switched to organic milk and she was about 1 and a half or so, I'm sure hv would just tell me I should be giving them full fat milk bring, that's the guidance here I just find it a pain filling the fridge with different kinds and I don't have much

Lorelei353 · 01/07/2014 09:52

Thanks for the advice. DS is getting plenty of fat from avocado, hummus, eggs, cheese etc. Can't give him coconut oil or nut butters because of my allergy. Can't have them in the house and have been advised to hold off on giving him nuts for another year or so. We do give him full fat milk as I read in a few places that that was what they were supposed to have.

He had his jabs yesterday. MMR and the various boosters. DH brought him as I was in work. He was fine though. Got very clingy and crabby last night and a bit of a temp but good today.

That's very interesting info on calcium Frus and makes perfect sense.

Kitty - bpear doesn't drink that much so what I do is buy 1 pint of full fat milk and freeze half of it in ice cubes ;-) This way I can put the exact ice cubes he needs in his beaker (the night before or in the morning) and by 3pm they're defrosted. Until he drinks more this works very well.

kittykatsforever · 03/07/2014 10:18

How are you doing frus??

peardrop2 · 03/07/2014 14:41

We've got 6 steps now :-) Slowly getting around Wink

kittykatsforever · 03/07/2014 20:02

Well done baby pearGrin we still havnt Confused

Lorelei353 · 04/07/2014 03:11

No steps here yet either. Will just sky about walk holding one hand but only when the mood takes him. Not standing on his own yet.

OP posts:
kittykatsforever · 04/07/2014 07:19

Kitten stands on her own every day now but only for about 10/20secs she will walk one handed but like you lor only when she feels like it, she always wants 2 hands, ithink it's a confidence thing with a lot of them, I'm so ready for it though I love little first steps Grin she won't take one on her won though, me and dh do the thing where you sit on the floor and try to get her to take a few steps between you and she just will not try it, point blank! Tiger did it as soon as she was standing

Lorelei353 · 04/07/2014 10:23

I think DS will be a little while yet. He's too 'on the go'. He just wants to be moving all the time so standing and walking (too slow for him at the moment) are just not a priority. He can crawl and go - quickly! One of the nursery workers mentioned it this morning, saying they always turn around and he's gone off somewhere investigating. He crawled across the playground with the big toddlers to the gate this morning. I was putting the buggy in the shed and suddenly he was there (on the other side of the gate) with the big boys.

Runt took his first step on Saturday with all my family watching! He's since done in a couple of times but he'll only take one cautious step before flopping at me & giggling like it's the funniest thing ever! Too cute! He does that too when he lets go of the sofa/table - he gets this "can I do it?" look of cheeky amazement, stands for a little while before putting his hands down & giggling at me as if to say "did you see? Wasn't that hilarious?" Grin All my friends DC of a similar age are walking already. Envy

kittykatsforever · 04/07/2014 11:42

I would love bpear to walk now as he is sooooo frustrated. We've got 8 steps now. He doesn't let me help him so hand holding is a no no. My back and arms need a serious holiday!! Grin

bringonthetrumpets · 06/07/2014 15:55

And a wave!

M is covered in mozzie bites Sad. We were at my brother's house in the middle of the sticks for a fire last night and despite covering the little lass in bug spray, those little bastards got through her clothes. I feel so bad!

peardrop2 · 07/07/2014 21:50

Oh poor M :-( I wonder if it's just as itchy like when we get bitten. Probably not the same with all the distraction around her (unless she's scratching like mad) if that makes you feel any better Wink

She's ignoring them for the most part. She's more focused on the eczema that has sprung up behind her knees. It's just the giant red welts all over her legs and near her ears.

How's summer vaca going for you and the girls frus?

Oh bring Hmm I have reallynastyreactions to mozzie bites too, always go into blisters! What has sparked m's excema? We've gone back to formula to see if it's cows milk!
I have just posted a vid of kittens newest words, "get down" little bloody monkey
