Our most used phrase is "shoes on" and he mastered "back gardaa" this week (but he used to say "ba" presumably short for back) which is how, bar raging hissy fit he informs me of a desire to go out and play in the garden. He grabs the dog's lead to go out the front door! Thank goodness he's not figured out keys yet!!! "Ba" is ball in our house. "Ba" was balloon to my niece (which is "loon" to J) its funny how they all assign different meanings to the same sounds.

He's a bit perkier today but still off his food. He had cuddles and snoozed on the couch with us until 11 when we went to bed as he was feeling so rough, then he slept through. Thank you anbesol!

PR I love gewürztraminer! Lychee loveliness! Lush with Thai food. Nom!!!

PetiteRaleuse · 10/05/2014 19:08

Me too tis my favourite grape. Followed by reisling. So lucky to live here

PetiteRaleuse · 10/05/2014 19:31

The house I am going to look at next week is in a village with vineyards.

BigPigLittlePig · 10/05/2014 19:43

Hic!

FatimaLovesBread · 10/05/2014 21:10

GT – my next aim is to get out at least every Thursday for a walk up the hill from my house. There’s quite a hill towards the moors that with the pram works up a sweat and M gets to see horses and sheep and highland cattle.
We can get a special gym membership through work for £24 but I just don’t know when I’ll fit it in to make it worth while paying.

PR – Sounds like me, only bit I wouldn’t mind losing is my lovehandles, rest is just toning up really. Think I’ll find the shred on youtube

We went to an outlet village and indoor ski slope/activity centre today. M had a fab lunch in Nandos.

Glad we got M her new car seat, she loves it as she can see so much. She shouts baa every time she sees sheep Grin

Currently being cool and watching Gossip Girl, I know it's for teens but Ed Westwick is HOT!

ChasingDaisy · 10/05/2014 21:13

Oh I LOVE Ed Westwick.

Am currently on a bus home, pissed on cocktails.

PurplePidjin · 10/05/2014 21:31

Anything round is Bubble here. The round bits on top of the wall on the way to church, bubbles, balls, balloons, Audi logos, round blossoms on tree branches Hmm

Here I had

Starter: Raw fish finger
Main: cooked fish fingers and chips
Dessert: Lidl cheapie chocolate

must learn patience when cooking

PetiteRaleuse · 10/05/2014 21:34

Ahem. We're watching eurovision over on faceache.

fruitpastilles · 10/05/2014 21:36

Yy to Ed Westwick! I love gossip girl aswell, I have started watching it from the beginning again on netflix.
So the new neighbours are very noisy Hmm our lovely old neighbours hardly made a sound and that was with a 3 yr old and 9 month old. You don't half miss the quiet when you're used to it.

Passmethecrisps · 10/05/2014 22:02

No Eurovision here. DH is insisting on his usual choice of frantic jazz . . .

Food here was starter of M&S nibble type things which p was offered for her tea. She refused all but garlic fried mushrooms, some cucumber, chilli halloumi and a shit load of olives. She had some peppa Easter egg for desert.

For grown up dinner we had chicken Kiev and chips. After our starter actually neither of us were that fussed but manfully pressed on.

P has been a wee super star today. Full of giggles and cuddles which is lovely. We went shopping earlier for DH's bd pressie (he was sent to the pub to wait for us) and she was great. I was bimbling around debenhams and glanced down to notice that she was clutching a Pyrex jug in both hands. Goodness knows when she had picked them up. She returned both immediately on asking, however.

She was on her reins and it gets such a lot of attention from people. There was one very elderly couple passed us and both silently stopped and turned to watch us walk away. I heard the man say "look at that! She's like a wee dug!"

Passmethecrisps · 10/05/2014 22:06

Oh and word wise, p is stuck to two syllables and mainly words beginning with M. She parrots a lot back but is still finding word forming hard. Lots of words roll into one. She knows bubbles though which is bobbo. Ball is bo. She has just started saying her own name which she says as nenny

fruitpastilles · 10/05/2014 22:26

Ahh nenny, that's cute.
S has just started saying daddy and nanny instead of dada and nana. I'm still mama Hmm
She still only has 9 words but she really seems to be trying now and is making lots more sounds when she babbles.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/05/2014 22:27

Reins save lives. Fuck people who judge for reins.

There is a mn'er who lost a child who is now vvvv pro reins :(

PurplePidjin · 10/05/2014 22:33

I'm Mumum or Mummy, vvvdf is Dadad, my mum, MIL and my gran are Mamar and my dad gets Gamma.

It amazes me the number of my parent friends who admire how "well" R walks, ask how I keep him on track, and are surprised at me saying I use reins - like they'd not considered it or heard of them. To me, it was automatic that he would have them and I would use them - better to have him under my control than under the wheels of a car Sad I do also make him hold my hand most of the time, particularly to cross the road

Passmethecrisps · 10/05/2014 22:37

With p the way she is I am delighted we bought reins. She fights like a tiger to get out the pushchair unless she is exhausted so walking is the best option. For the most part she walks and holds my hand but occasionally she breaks into a sprint.

For the most part I think people are amused by them and I have had people approach me to say what a good idea they are. I did see one woman today properly screw her nose up and shake her head. I have absolutely no interest in her opinion on how I keep my child safe while out and about.

I think the 'wee dug' comment was amusement and interest.

Passmethecrisps · 10/05/2014 22:40

I am the same pp. Hand holding is the preferred and when crossing the road is non-negotiable. It is either that or I carry her. My pet peeve is seeing wee ones running way ahead of parents on pavements. A simple trip is all it takes

PurplePidjin · 10/05/2014 22:52

yeah, i see kids not much older than r on scooters and there's no way the adult could get a hand on them in time Sad

ValiumQueen · 11/05/2014 06:03

Morning Smile

J has reins, but usually holds hands nicely. He has never bolted (yet) The girls, especially DD2, always had them on as they were bolters. I also couldn't give a fuck what others think.

Where I live the preferred way of walking toddlers seems to be pushing the pram whilst on the phone, with the little ones walking several yards behind, even along big roads. Occasionally there will be a scream emanating for them to hurry up, although normally not so polite. It makes me so sad and I just want to scoop them up and take them home Hmm

Lily311 · 11/05/2014 06:21

Morning,

I have reins as well but never used them. She walks nicely holding hands but that doesn't mean that she will stay like that.

Slept at my parents' so I had 3 hours off, went for a BBQ to my cousin.today is my first 5k run in 2 years, we shall see how it goes. Than meeting with two friends and their kids.

fruitpastilles · 11/05/2014 06:28

I have reins for S now too. She has turned into a bolter and there's no way I'd leave it to chance, especially as the park I take her to has a huge lake. Actually what are those backpack reins I keep seeing? pass I think they are the ones P has. The ones I have for S seem a bit flimsy to me.

ChasingDaisy · 11/05/2014 06:29

I think I need to invest in some reins. O now hates being in the pushchair and is insistent on walking everywhere. But only in the direction he wants to walk in. God forbid you try and make him change direction Hmm

BigPigLittlePig · 11/05/2014 06:32

Good luck Lily.

F woke at 5.30. Bleurgh.

We don't have reins but F is content in the pushchair for now so has not been an issue. I know mil has some she uses when they go out for a walk.

Is anyone doing anything nice today? Had hoped for a bike ride but it is raining atm. Hopefully the sun will get up soon.

ValiumQueen · 11/05/2014 07:54

Littlelife backpacks are the bollocks. I bought a backpack with reins from Trespass I think it was, and DD2 landed flat on her face when I had hold of her as it just snapped! She was about 2, and not big enough to warrant the snapping. I was furious.

I will be getting J a littlelife backpack, but cannot decide which one! They are lovely. And very good quality.

ValiumQueen · 11/05/2014 07:55

Good luck Lily.

We have been up since 5 (yawn)
