What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

Hi all Smile I was briefly on the antenatal thread but you probably don't remember me! Lily was born on the 21st Jan, and I've been meaning to come and find this thread for ages but then it popped up in active convo's!
I haven't read anything yet, but will go and do that now while Lily's on the playmat Smile Not sure she'll last for long though!

Shroomboom · 25/04/2014 13:01

PS Please could I join the FB group too? Would love to see pics of all the other Jan babies Smile

Shroomboom · 25/04/2014 13:04

MrsVDB could you move H's cot into your room for a bit? We moved some stuff out and have got L's squeezed into a corner under the eaves. Not ideal for us as we keep bashing our heads Grin

Felix having is the implant like having an injection? Eek, sounds horrible!

MrsVDB · 25/04/2014 13:23

shroom I remember you! If you pm me your name ill add you on fb

Unfortunately our bedroom has 3 doors, a window and a fireplace so with our king size bed there's no room for anything else

I had the implant too and got on well with it. Did take a while to get pregnant after it was removed though

Shroomboom · 25/04/2014 13:26

Ah thanks Mrs VDB will do Smile Your bedroom sounds lovely though!

FelixFelix · 25/04/2014 13:31

It's a weird injection thing I think. The worst bit was having the anaesthetic which was only a small needle and hardly hurt. I'm pleased with the whole process!

Million hope the scan goes well. Are the tablets still working that they gave you?

Welcome back shroom Smile

FelixFelix · 25/04/2014 13:34

MrsV I'm still squeezing Sylvie in to the cocoonababy! Her feet hang over the end though Grin it says they can't use it once they can roll over so I'm going to put her in the bednest once she can roll. But that only lasts until 6 months anyway (she's 17 weeks now) and I don't have a plan for afterwards! Her room is on the top floor of the house and it needs to be painted and all the stuff sorted out. We haven't bought any furniture or anything yet. I'll probably just buy a cot for the bedroom and squeeze it in somewhere as I'm too nervous about having her upstairs away from us. I wouldn't mind if she was in the next room. I'm sure travel cot would be fine until you get sorted Smile

Hello I'd like to join too. Ready yr messages makes me feel less alone as my LO is doing a fair few things that others doing - in particular napping nowhere other than me for any length of time! Smile He's nearly 15 wks. Had issues with bf (tongue tie and thrush) ok now though he's still fussy. Wolfs it down in 5-10 mins though. Sleeping - usually ok. 7-12-3-7 and he's just started dropping 12 feed yippee. He's quite a high maintenance baby I think. Whinges a lot and will change mood in a second so have to have eyes like hawk. When he smiles and laughs though so cute! I've struggled a bit adjusting to mummyhood. I miss my old life and the freedom and I think I'm a bit of a worrier so find it hard to relax and chill out. It's getting easier though and I am enjoying it more.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 25/04/2014 14:15

felix as long as I was on the second lot of tablets, they worked. Now I'm bleeding again, which is fucking great

BookTart · 25/04/2014 14:16

puggle I did two weeks of dairy free. It was very restrictive as I'm already veggie. I had soya products though - do you have to cut them out too? About half of babies with dairy intolerances have problems with soy as well apparently.

Hi shroom and cake!

FelixFelix · 25/04/2014 15:51

Million that's so shitty Sad I really hope they work out what's up from the scan

Naturegirl82 · 25/04/2014 16:56

Hi everyone, been awol for a little while. Been in London seeing my parents which was lovely and they finally got to meet O. Not much going on here, although she did manage to roll over from front to back the other day but I think it was a fluke as she hasn't done it since. I've been on smp since December so very jealous of those of you only going onto it now, it sucks!

FizzypopFireball · 25/04/2014 20:10

Hi shroom and cake, and welcome back nature!

cake, I totally understand the whole struggling to adjust to motherhood, and for pretty much the same reasons. I'm in my thirties so definitely feel a loss of identity, and my new mummy identity hasn't really developed yet. But I guess it's still early days, so hopefully things will improve. I've decided I need to get out more and join more groups. Really hope that helps me.

MrsGSR · 25/04/2014 23:16

We use tommie tippee closer to nature bottles, haven't had any trouble going from breast to bottle and back again, although she did refuse a bottle for a while. I think that's because she's an awkward baby though (she refuses dummys as well), not because of the bottle type! I express quite randomly and I've not had any problem with supply. I usually express 4-5oz which will tide her over for a few hours.

Starting Monday I'm attempting dairy, soya & gluten free to see if it will make a difference to her sleeping, shes still only managing about 2 and a half hours max in the cot, and only one long sleep a night! Then she'll only do 30 minutes to an hour for the rest of the night. I'm managing to get loads of sleep this week whilst DH is off work though, he has her 5-11am! I'm going to struggle next week though.

MrsGSR · 26/04/2014 01:23

She's been asleep since 10, I'm very shocked! I'm too scared to go to sleep as I'm sure she'll wake up as soon as I drift off and then I'll feel worse! As we're at MILs I do have sky though :) I'm watching true crime programmes until DH takes over at 5 :)

Swannykazoo · 26/04/2014 09:48

Hey mrsGSR can I be your dairy free buddy? (and soyfree but no gluten) Have started today....DH has been explaining to me that butter isn't dairy. Sigh! Will be interested if little puggle sleeps better as he was flipping terrible last night (final dairy binge may be responsible.) Doing it for his eczema and mucus nappies though. Have been told to take 1000mcg of calcium, don't know if you've heard the same?
If you don't mind me asking, what are you having for breakfast on Mon?

flyawayblue · 26/04/2014 12:21

Also dairy and soya free here, kinda complicated by being veggie too :) Been doing it since last weekend and she's so much better (less sick, hiccups, crying, reflux). Just de-milking the flat as she has a contact allergy as well as ingestion, had another scare yesterday and just not worth it.

Was planning to talk to the gp about supplements, he suggested going dairy free while we wait fir the allergist appointment but didn't say anything more.

BookTart · 26/04/2014 14:19

fly are you taking any supplements? As being dairy free made me almost vegan (only eggs left!) I was advised that B12 might be a good idea, as well as the calcium and vitamin D I was already taking.

Just bought lots of pretty clothes in larger sizes at the NCT sale. Not much in the way of day-to-day stuff though. I guess babygros get worn out with all the washing. I did get a jumperoo for £40 though, which I'm pleased with. It is HUGE though!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 26/04/2014 20:58

We're watching a tv show at the moment. DH has just said that I'm like a "pair of old jeans that you've worn so much that they are comfy, Iyswim, with frayed bottoms and pockets which don't hold anything anymore" and he genuinely doesn't see why that doesn't make me feel good. Am i over-reacting?

MerryPops · 26/04/2014 21:30

Don't think I'd be best pleased about those comments either million!

I'm sure your Dh didn't mean it in a nasty way, but these fellas don't understand how having a baby can make you feel about your body. We need actual proper compliments, not comfy jeans metaphors!

MrsGSR · 26/04/2014 23:30

I'd be annoyed million, it sounds like something my DH world say without thinking, he usually means well but it's not always obvious!

I don't really know what I'm going to have for breakfast, we're still in Devon until tomorrow night so I might have to have a late breakfast after a food shop! Would porridge made with water be ok? I'll have to look that up! I'm also attempting to give up sweetners, so only drinking water.

In all honesty I think I'm just clutching at straws, I spoke to a pediatrician ages ago who said changing my diet wouldn't help her sleep, but at least I'll feel like I'm doing something!

Angelesque · 27/04/2014 09:53

MrsGSR IIRC from my uni days, in Scotland they would ONLY use water to make porridge - using milk was considered a bit wussy!!

Million I would have a) smacked him and b) sulked until provided with chocolate and sycophantic snuggles. And left him with the night shift Grin

Where are people at with transitioning from carrycots to pushchair seats? Know most of you guys are a good few weeks ahead of F and I - he's 10 1/2 weeks. We have the Uppababy Vista and have had him in the carrycot attachment since birth. However, he seems to have started to get a bit unsettled in the carrycot. He's much happier in the car seat on the chassis. I think he's getting bored and frustrated in the carrycot as he can't see out (he's soooooo nosy!).

My understanding is that seats aren't recommended till six months due to head control... F has really great head control (can sit supported already and has done for a while) - would using the seat be a baaaaaad idea?

Angelesque · 27/04/2014 09:58

Also - on the dairy free thing - is the issue dairy per se, or lactose? The Lactofree range is in most supermarkets - basically they add an enzyme to ordinary milk to break down the lactose, that's it - so the products taste good. However, they're not dairy free so might not be suitable. Not sure if helpful but thought I would chuck it in there...

MerryPops · 27/04/2014 10:13

I'm switching fully to formula today as I start back at work week after next and I don't think I'll have time to express enough (Xander has always been fussy on the boob). God my boobs are aching! Should have thought ahead and got a cabbage in, don't think iceberg lettuce leaves will have the same effect?!

FizzypopFireball · 27/04/2014 10:43

Angel we have the same travel system. You can get a Snug Insert for younger babies which helps support their head, and boosts them further up in the pushchair seat. It works really well. I think you can order them from John Lewis.
