What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Spoke to the receptionist who spoke to the GP and said to keep my appointment for Friday and they will just take the swab then, and let me know if anything comes back. It's highly likely it won't so I can still have the coil fitted on the same day.

Million good luck with the blood tests. Each time I've had blood tests they have come back within a couple of days so hopefully won't be too long.

Fly hope the visit goes well! It must be hard leaving them so early but I agree that it's meant to be a hell of a lot easier for babies if they are started at nursery/cm when they are younger. I'm sure it will be fine Smile

AMillionNameChangesLater · 12/05/2014 13:53

Am at the hospital. They've put numbing stuff on his elbows, and he needs to have that on for an hour before 3 people hold him down for bloods to be taken. No one told me this would happen.

So far the numbing stuff has burst all over me, he's been sick, and I just want to cry. This is shit

MrsGSR · 12/05/2014 15:30

Oh million :( I hope you're home now having lots of cuddles and it all went ok!

Gettingthroughthis · 12/05/2014 15:49

million sorry that sounds rubbish. Hope all is finished now :)

AMillionNameChangesLater · 12/05/2014 16:05

We've just got home. It took four people to get his blood.

I cant even think about it without tearing up.

Still, home now and dh is bringing home gin

alteredimages · 12/05/2014 16:22

Sad million. Glad it is over and hope the gin arrives soon.

fly DD started full time nursery at seven months. It took a couple of weeks for her to get used to things but she settled well after that. I think it would have been quicker if she had been willing to try a bottle or cup, so some of her grumpiness was her waiting for me to come to bf her at lunchtime because she liked to feed to sleep and wasn't really eating yet. I am sure A will be fine, especially because in my limited experience of UK nurseries they are really really fun. DD was happy and her childcare consisted of being in a room with other babies, a few toys and three women chatting, eating and taking photos of them on their phones. Grin

alteredimages · 12/05/2014 16:44

The nursery DD went to was not in the UK, for clarification. DD's nursery wasn't really much fun at all, but luckily she didn't know better!

FelixFelix · 12/05/2014 16:54

Million that sounds awful. At least it's done now! Hope he's ok, and good on DH bringing the gin!!

TobyLerone · 12/05/2014 17:12

:( million, you poor thing.

I've no experience with nurseries. DS went to a childminder at 7 months when I went back to work. Then when DD1 was born I became a sahm until I got divorced and had to get another job when the DC were 4 and 2. My sister stepped in to help with childcare at that point, until they went to school.

Meredith finally has her paediatrician appointment for her heart murmur on Wednesday. Busy week all round, actually. And we've decided to pull our fingers out and get on with selling our house/moving ASAP. So lots to do!

Spged · 12/05/2014 21:26

Oh Million I'm so sorry. That sounds utterly horrendous. Hope the gin is helping :-)

Naturegirl82 · 12/05/2014 23:05

million hope you're feeling better about today and the gin helped.

Saw consultant today to get results of O's tests. It's confirmed she does only have one kidney which is good news strangely. He still needs to monitor her for a while and she will still be on antibiotics but it was good news. She'll have another scan in a few months to check on things.

Only thing that is concerning me is she had her height and weight done today (by a nurse who thought O was a boy even though she was naked!!). Her height is still tracking just under the 91st centile but since she started on the antibiotics her weight has dropped from just under 91st centile to half way between the 50th and 75th centiles. This seems quite a drop to me. Consultant didn't seem to think it was the antibiotics but that's the only thing that has changed. I'm going to speak to hv tomorrow but would any of you be worried about that drop?

Naturegirl82 · 12/05/2014 23:07

toby hope the appointment goes well. Exciting about the house move (I love looking at houses), hopefully it will all go smoothly.

flyawayblue · 13/05/2014 04:41

Sounds horrible million, hope the gin is helping.

A has woke every 90 mins tonight and been really unsettled, taking ages to get back to sleep.

Oh how I hope this is a fluke and not the start of sleep regression.. I'm dead and can't cope. In amazed that those with this regularly are still functioning.

Pidgy · 13/05/2014 06:40

Good luck today toby. I hope it's resolved or diagnosed as an abnormal normality like with DS. OH, and my brother too. He just cycled Brighton to London and back to Brighton, OFF ROAD for FUN IN 1 day. Weirdo. But his heart mumur obs has no bad effects.

How much exercise do you all do? I saw a thread about this and it made me feel terrible as I do nothing very little at the moment. Just chasing the toddler and walking and running up and down stairs to replace Lara's dummy.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 13/05/2014 07:42

Good luck tomorrow toby

nature in my experience they only panic if they can't find a reason for it, antibiotics can throw anyone off.

I didn't get gin. I had his bank card. I did get a massive cuddle and some sexy time :) long may the not bleeding continue

TobyLerone · 13/05/2014 08:08

Thanks for the good luck :)
I'm not particularly worried. From googling what I know, there are usually other signs ('failure to thrive', breathing issues, not meeting milestones etc) of more sinister things. Hopefully when we go tomorrow they'll say it's nothing.
Your brother sounds like a freak legend, pidgy :o

Very tired today. I just couldn't sleep properly all night. And I was up for the day at 4.45am. Trying to work out if I can be arsed to go to baby group today.

TobyLerone · 13/05/2014 08:11

Wait...an 'abnormal normality', pidgy? That's a medical term?!

Re exercise...I do bugger all. I pay my gym membership every month as usual. Haven't been for about 8 months. I feel like I ought to get out and walk more, but it's a bit dull by myself.

Gettingthroughthis · 13/05/2014 09:43

fly h was the same. I'm shattered. Got a kit tomorrow so hoping he sleeps better tonight!

FelixFelix · 13/05/2014 10:38

Good luck Toby.

Pidgy I'm rubbish with exercise. I used to live on the edge of a the city centre and would walk in to town all the time, and to work and back every day then I got SPD quite badly from around 26 weeks pregnant and couldn't leave the house. Which means I've not done hardly any exercise for months! I might start doing the 30 Day Shred when Sylvie is napping in the day Grin

I'm starting to wean her this week. She's guzzling milk like there's no tomorrow and she's always hungry, and she's waking up in the night hungry too when before she would sleep most of the night. She's just been through a growth spurt so I don't think it's that either. Just going to start off with puréed veg and fruit mixed with a bit of formula to make it creamy then go from there. I know it's a couple of weeks early (she's almost 22 weeks) but I think she's ready now!

alteredimages · 13/05/2014 10:41

Good luck Toby for tomorrow. It sounds like M is doing really well so hopefully you will get the all clear.

What's exercise, pidgy? Grin I long for the day when I can take a long walk without a baby strapped to my front and a three year old clamped round my legs. The gym is a dream too distant to mention.

First day of cloth nappies today. Clearly a bit of a novice, the terry nappies all seem so short! Will try new folds, but the bat fold tmi didn't even reach to the top of his bum crack. The bumble is fine, but still a good centimetre below his navel. How do these nappies last til two?

alteredimages · 13/05/2014 10:51

Felix good luck with the weaning!

We were visiting DH's friend's parents at the weekend and the mum whipped out her parenting book from the 1960s. It had a massive fold out table of what your baby should be eating and when. It was great! The table says bfing is only for the first three months, then you switch to bottles of cows milk. Babies should also be having orange juice from one month old and at N's age (4 and a half months) should be being spoon fed baby cereal, vegetable puree, meat (!!!), eggs, yoghurts and I can't remember what else. He gets fish at five months. I wish I had taken a photo of it. I didn't have the heart to tell her the advice had changed, she was being so lovely and helpful, not telling me what to do.

On the other hand, it did cheer me up and make me think that I shouldn't stress too much about weaning given that a whole generation of French babies were weaned that early and most are just fine.

N loves watching us eat. It is hilarious seeing his eyes follow the food into our mouths. Smile Not ready for solids yet though.

flyawayblue · 13/05/2014 10:56

Good luck for today toby.

Exercise wise I don't do much at all, have a weekly pilates and tried one buggy fit that almost killed me. Don't think my body new what hit it when I started running...

getting sorry you had a horrible night too. Guess they've found the secret Facebook group Sad Hope your kit day goes well tomorrow and you get more sleep this evening.

FelixFelix · 13/05/2014 11:25

Altered that book sounds great Grin my mum has been pushing me to give her baby rice since the day she turned four months but she was nowhere near ready. The past week or so she seems to have grown up loads all of a sudden!

Gettingthroughthis · 13/05/2014 11:29

Thank you fly

Also not doing any exercise either

I have given h bits of what ever I'm eating (sucked a chocolate, bit of mash, gravy, mushed carrot, banana) and he seems to like the taste but doesn't really know what to do with it. At 14 weeks I'm not planning on weaning him yet but will carry on giving him a little taste :)

Swannykazoo · 13/05/2014 19:18

Exercise? Does sling wearing count? I'm trying hard to get DH to do a bit more hands on time - and not just so I can make tea...so maybe in a month or two. Except I'm back to work in a couple of months -FUUUUCCCKK!
Have made an attempt at teaching little puggle to use a doidy cup - failed miserably, and that was after having to wash the steriliser as it had some mildew in it as its been so long since I'd used it -shame Blush

Anybody's baby got the squeals? Little puggle has gone from making noises to squealing at high volume most of the time - with delight I should add. Its very cute initially but grows wearing
