What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

I realised today I'm back to work 2 weeks tomorrow. Fuck me. That's gone quick

Swannykazoo · 13/05/2014 19:48

Cripes! Will stop moaning about mine immediately million

FelixFelix · 13/05/2014 20:34

Can't believe it's time to go back to work for some of you already! I'm thinking of not returning.

Baby rice went down very well. She was so happy eating it and had loads! I read that they may only have a teaspoon or so of food at first so wasn't expecting that much. She wanted to hold the spoon herself Grin

Pidgy · 13/05/2014 20:50

toby think I meant 'normal abnormality'! I think that's what they said anyway! Ie. on the scale of what is normal.

Glad it's not just me with the lack of exercise. Think that thread was just a load of exercise freaks boasting. Anyone who didn't do much or any, didn't post.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 13/05/2014 21:14

Yey Felix!

TobyLerone · 13/05/2014 21:23

Either way, pidgy. Seems like a cop-out term to me!

Right. I am bored of being fat. I am going to start 5:2 on Monday.

FelixFelix · 13/05/2014 21:36

Toby I started the low carb bootcamp on here! Lost a stone since March without really trying much which is great. Although I have 4 more to lose BlushConfused

TobyLerone · 13/05/2014 21:49

Low carb is my idea of hell. I cannot put into words my love of carbs.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 13/05/2014 22:08

Slimming World Toby? I love potatoes and it works for me

TobyLerone · 13/05/2014 22:48

Not a fan of all the low fat malarkey that goes along with Slimming World. I have a bit of a 'thing' against low fat/sugar free/'diet' foods/drinks. My friend does SW very successfully, but it's not for me.

I'll give 5:2 a bash first off. Hopefully I won't need to try anything else!

TarkaTheOtter · 14/05/2014 00:24

I'm also doing low carb diet (not the mn bootcamp) as too hard core for me. Carbs are my vice too but the weight just drops off when I swap them for fat/protein. I wonder how much it is related to my family history of diabetes. I'm not particularly overweight bit when I gain weight it is almost all on my stomach.
Since giving birth and giving up my gd diet I have gained 8lbs!How depressing is that! Over half a stone heavier than when 9 months pregnant!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 14/05/2014 07:05

Wrote a massive long post yesterday, but apparently the iPad are it...
The gist was (re sleeping): a) confidence that you can get a baby to sleep without singing/rocking etc and b) put down, walk away then listen hard to noises. If tiny bastard baby is getting louder/worse/more upset, go in, pick up, feed, change, comfort, then try again. If getting quieter, less emphatic and less convincing, leave them to wind down.
My mum was told that tears = actual distress. No tears shouting = not in distress. May not be true, but so far it's working well for me at least.
Now must feed my noisy one.

TobyLerone · 14/05/2014 07:14

I did similar with my older 2, humpty, and it worked like a charm (eventually!). But they were a fair bit older. I think I'll leave it a bit longer before trying actual sleep-training. She'll be going into the big cot soon and so we'd probably have to start all over again then.

I envy the willpower of those of you who can low-carb.

Pidgy · 14/05/2014 07:31

Hmmm...I love fresh white bread, with butter and marmite.
And pasta, and breakfast cereals etc. Carbs and full fat all the way here which is why I'm failing miserably to lose weight through breastfeeding.

Going to research 5.2 diet I think. There seem tone a lot of threads on it anyhow.

For someone who never fed to sleep, Lara is doing a good impression of someone needing a boob in her mouth to fall asleep. Dummy will no longer do!

Naturegirl82 · 14/05/2014 07:36

I've started running again but only managing once a week at the moment. Started taking the dog with me which is quite fun. I've been thinking about buggy fit. May give it a try next week as I need to be fit again for September so I don't embarress myself when playing netball again!

Toby you should look up the harcombe diet. It's all about natural foods (I.e. full fat) and cooking from scratch. After first five days you can eat carbs, and there is no calorie counting or portion control but it does work. I've lost half a stone in the last two weeks even though I have been cheating! Can you do the 5:2 when bf?

Can't believe you've only got 2 weeks left off million.

TobyLerone · 14/05/2014 07:37
Swannykazoo · 14/05/2014 08:46

Hmm thought I had things going the right way as little puggle will come off the boob and start to fall asleep at night rather than always sucking to sleep. However last few nights I've discovered that only works if he stays on my chest (unsatisfactory for me) Any attempt to shuffle him to the side of me leads to nipple being required. Back to refusing the bed nest. He'll need to go to uni close to home at this rate....

Naturegirl82 · 14/05/2014 09:59

Are there meant to be jabs at 16 weeks or have I made that up?

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 14/05/2014 10:13

toby good to know I'm not being mean mummy for nothing! She already naps in her cot for any sleeps at home, and I'm on the point of moving her to it for overnight, as the Bednest is too small now, which is, I think, why she starts the day at 5.30 am latest! It'd mean her not being in with us though, so I want to wait four or five more days until she's officially four months even though I know the 'between three and four months' SIDS risk peak probably doesn't go away the second she hits four months before I do.
Also, I am nodding away with you on the dislike of 'low fat, (usually high sugar) foods. My problem isn't too much fat, it's already too much sugar. Any more and I'll enter a coma Grin

nature yes! the Dip/Tet/Polio etc one again and MenC, then no more until a year! Wine

puggle will he need 'bitty' during finals, do you think? Special circs? GrinWink

Swannykazoo · 14/05/2014 10:23

Bound to humpty - any loud noises require "bitty" at the minute so if some dropped their pencil case...

AMillionNameChangesLater · 14/05/2014 10:34

I don't like diet drinks and sugar free too. I don't like the taste

I'm going back on SW, but just not having all the stuff i could have syn free, so the diet stuff. If i really want it, I'll syn it.

I love potatoes, and fresh cooked bread, and lurpak, and crisps... Yummy! But i have to lose some more weight

Naturegirl82 · 14/05/2014 11:07

Thanks humpty. I have a horrible feeling they have messed up her appointment again as they usually send them out two weeks in advance and we haven't received anything yet.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 14/05/2014 11:27

Just give them a call nature i have to every time because Henry is 4 weeks behind in his jabs.

BookTart · 14/05/2014 12:06

Same here puggle - she refuses the crib so we cosleep and she was latched on pretty much all night last night! Won't nap anywhere but on my lap either. I'm not getting any sleep or rest at all (2 hours last night - I'm desperate today!) Unless I do some sort of CIO/CC at some point I can't see how it will ever change, and I really don't like the idea of leaving her to cry as she gets very upset very quickly. I've decided to see if I can ride it out for another couple of months and then maybe use a sleep consultant, providing her reflux is under control by then.

All your talk of carbs forced me to scoff two crumpets with jam. They were delicious Grin

flyawayblue · 14/05/2014 12:27

I lost weight post A as gluten, dairy and soya free for a while. Starting to put some back on though.

I haven't tried sw or 5:2 yet but think they would be better than most as I hate fake fat free foods and have a love of carbs. So harsh that I can't have most pastries / cookies / cake now dairy free. On the hunt for coop doughnuts as they are vegan Smile

Off to look at A's nursery this afternoon, hope it puts my mind at rest.

Good luck to all those starting back at work soon.
