What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

felix oops! My DH managed to let Alex fall forwards onto the bed frame and knock her head (her new favourite game is being pulled up/pulling herself up to standing). He was v upset. I laughed bad mummy. I said she'll probably do much worse in a few months when she's on the move!

Talking of such, she is desperate to move. When on her tummy, she frantically 'crawls' her legs, but isn't strong enough to move. She hates lying flat unless on playmat, or asleep, and wants to sit up/stand all the time. The Bumbo and door bouncer are helping, but it's exhausting, as she's now 15lbs5! When's the earliest she might manage independent movement? She's nearly rolling over, but needs to be on a soft surface to get all the way over (our bed, usually).

FelixFelix · 05/05/2014 13:06

Humpty we are exactly the same at the moment! Sylvie is constantly shuffling around trying to move, or launching herself from your lap to get to where she wants to be. If I sit her up on the settee next to me, she will shuffle so she's laid on her side but then she gets stuck and can't move any further. I keep trying to lie her on her front but she gets frustrated and cries as she has the power in her legs to move, but not the upper body strength to crawl properly. She also loves being upright and thinks it's hilarious when I pretend she's walking... Grin

MrsGSR · 05/05/2014 14:38

Sorry tarka, I meant tonight, although he did leave at 5 in the morning!

Leah had chosen the first time I'm completely alone for 36 hours to be very high maintenance. I can't put her down at all, when I went to the loo she screamed for the whole 1.5 minutes she was in the swing, which she usually loves.
We've set up in the corner of the sofa surrounded by food and drink so I don't have to move for a few hours. She currently sat on my lap scowling adorably at Gilmore Girls.

TarkaTheOtter · 05/05/2014 15:44

Oh I see. Staying in a cabin without Internet tonight so won't be around at all. Dh and I might actually have to talk to each other! Hope it goes ok and you get a break when dh gets back.

Swannykazoo · 05/05/2014 16:19

Humpty I have another desperate to move baby - in fact you could be describing Hugh!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 05/05/2014 18:13

Henry is quite content to just lay there :)

he's currently in his third"real" nappy. Those who use them, do you use wet wipes? Do you flush the liner down the toilet?

enormouse · 05/05/2014 18:24

I have a mover too. Cals desperate to get moving, especially when he sees DS1 running around, the little legs start wiggling.

A little bit sad that Cal rolled over for the first time yesterday and I missed it.

Hellish few days working on my essays but all's going to plan and I'm feeling quietly confident. Will do a bit more tonight. DPs taken the boys out to see their grandparents to give me a break. He's also bought me cola bottles to keep me going.

Tonight's also the night DS1 goes into a big bed and Cals going into the cot. I can't face another night of sharing a bed with Cal and listening to his snoring. Have made a start on their shared room together. It's going to have a Dr who theme, with a tardis on one wall.

TobyLerone · 05/05/2014 18:37

I don't use wet wipes, million. We use reusable wipes. And I don't use disposable liners.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 05/05/2014 19:21

toby what do you use instead of a disposable liner? I was given a full roll of Mioliners. Are they unnecessary?

AMillionNameChangesLater · 05/05/2014 19:31

I've ordered some fleece liners from nappylady and a new wrap...

I might do washable wipes, but it'll have to wait a month or so until payday

Swannykazoo · 05/05/2014 19:34

I'm another clother - is that a word? Also use reusable wipes (cheeky wipes) like wee flannels and fleece liners - buy 1m of polar fleece from ebay/haberdashers and chop to size - means wee soaks through but fleece feels dry.

How much time does everyone's DH do btw? Admittedly there'll be a difference between BF and FF but I think my DH is taking the piss even though he works away Mon to Wed. They've been out once to Tesco (30mins) last weekend and this weekend I'd 1hr of no baby time to myself (used to cut lawn and start weeding)

TobyLerone · 05/05/2014 20:12

The nappies I use (Little Lamb bamboo) come with boosters and fleece liners. I did buy some disposable liners but haven't used them.

Cheeky wipes are great. Much better than baby wipes because they actually 'grip' the poo, rather than smearing it around her bun. Gross, I know :o

puggle, I've been silently seething this weekend because until today DH has spent most of the weekend arsing about with his home server. Plus he got a new phone on Saturday, so I've barely seen his face.
But today was manic -- family bday celebration for DD1, so housework/cooking/cake decorating until early afternoon. So I told DH in no uncertain terms that he was to leave the phone/laptop alone and be on baby duty while I rushed around like a blue-arsed fly. And he did.

TobyLerone · 05/05/2014 20:12

*bum, not bun! Stupid phone.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 05/05/2014 20:33

I've got the bambino Mio ones. Its the separate wrap and fabric inside it

TobyLerone · 05/05/2014 20:54

Yes, mine have a separate wrap too.

There's the actual nappy, a booster made of the same fabric as the nappy, and a fleece liner. Then the wrap.

Swannykazoo · 05/05/2014 20:59

Hmm - I think I need to start giving out a dose of Toby this weekend!
He's great at playing with him but honestly thinks its a great favour to amuse him so I can make dinner

TobyLerone · 05/05/2014 21:03

:o

It was 2 days of sulking (me, on the inside) for 1 day of pulling hos finger out, though!

MrsGSR · 05/05/2014 21:04

puggle Leah's bf, but DH takes her for a few hours each weekday morning before he goes to work, and is generally happy to take her whenever I pass her over in the evenings, only occasionally complaining. He's not very good at making her nap though!

I should not be allowed to watch murder mysterys. I'm not too scared at the moment, but probably because I have every light in the house on. Last time DH was away I locked myself in and then accidently lost the keys, so was trapped in the house for a few days! The windows open wide enough that I could climb out if there was an emergency.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 06/05/2014 02:16

Arg, Henry woke up as he leaked through his nappy. That hasn't made me love real nappies, I have to say.

I've changed him and put on a disposable until the morning. I was warned that a disposable nappy would be best at bedtime, but i forgot.

He's in a fetching outfit at the moment, blue and red striped vest with grey and white striped leggings. I didn't have the light on when i got him dressed.

Now he's awake, he's refusing to sleep again

BookTart · 06/05/2014 07:38

I have some Little Lamb OSFA resusables and some bamboo ones as well, but for when she's a bit bigger. I also bought lots of flannels to use as wipes, but I can't face it at the moment!

I'm a bit wiped out this morning. Persephone refused to sleep until 11, and then woke hourly until 3 when she needed a change and was up for an hour. Then she woke half hourly until 6. I feel like I've had lots of lovely booze, and my eyes have gone funny. Not sure how today is going to work really, but I need to try and get her weighed so I can get her medication levels checked.

Good god. She just vommed on Ewan the Dream Sheep as well!

Good luck to anyone back to work today Smile

AMillionNameChangesLater · 06/05/2014 07:57

He fell asleep at 5:00, woke at 5:15. My eyes need match sticks!

at the paediatrician at 11

TobyLerone · 06/05/2014 08:03

Must've been the night for it. Meredith was up for the day at 5am.

book, I checked for the weighing clinic at my local Sure Start, but it's not til next week. Hope you can manage to get her weighed. I wish you an easy day!

Good luck at the paediatrician, million.

Sunshineseeker80 · 06/05/2014 08:06

Do any of you dream feed your babies? Have started trying and it only seems to give me an hour or so extra before first wake up but at least I am awake rather than woken when it happens. I am also super paranoid of anything waking her up during it so make DH stay downstairs / v quiet / at his mums the other night after football!

We thought about reusable nappies but never gor round to them, I hink because we knew we'd be travelling without laundry facilities for a while. Emily pooed through nappy and two layers of clothes in her disposable nappy last night. I guess when they've gotta go...

Book - poor Ewan! Is he washable? I am addicted to ours - the lullaby is the only one from her toys that doesn't send me mad and the other 3 legs send me to sleep in five mins Smile

More packing for me today - entire contents of our loft are in the spare room and need sorting (phone bill from 2001 anyone??) but going for lunch with couple of friends in the restaurant in the Shard later which will be nice

Have a good day all, especially those back in work

FelixFelix · 06/05/2014 08:54

Sorry everyone who had rubbish nights/bodily fluids!

Tried Sylvie in the sleeping bag again last night and it was a lot less sweaty now she's just in the crib rather than cocoonababy. Don't know what on earth went on a few nights ago where she was waking up every 30 minutes for a couple of nights, but she's a lot better all of a sudden. Woke up at 2 then 4 last night and slept until 8.20. She's now chewing on her bunny comforter thing and making it lovely and soggy.

Who has gone back to work this week? Hope it all goes well for you. The weeks are going so fast Shock

FelixFelix · 06/05/2014 08:56

Sunshine are you moving house? Sorry my memory is terrible! Lunch at the shard sounds amazing. I'm planning a day trip from up north with my friends down to London soon and really want to go to the shard. I'm such a tourist Grin
