What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

Happy birthday to your dd Toby!

We have dummy pulling/face scratching too. She wants the dummy but manages to pull it out then cries as it's no longer in her mouth Hmm went to a clothes swap thing today which was fab but she just cried hysterically the whole time which is very unusual for her. She usually never cries at all! Ahhhh!!!!

FelixFelix · 03/05/2014 18:22

Just seen a thread for due in January 2015! Seems so strange!

anotherbitofcake · 03/05/2014 18:23

Also yy to mini naps and face scratching/dummy pulling. Am now attempting to wean him off dummy

Gettingthroughthis · 03/05/2014 19:19

Just a quick check in from a hen do in Portugal :) ... Without Henry :(

Naturegirl82 · 03/05/2014 20:00

Ah we have face scratching, and crying here as well. Just had to give O some calpol as she looked like she was in sooo much pain! Sad Stupid teeth. She is currently draped over Dh's shoulder asleep finally.

FelixFelix · 03/05/2014 20:54

Another one away on holiday! Hope you're having a fab time Getting, you really deserve it Smile

AMillionNameChangesLater · 03/05/2014 21:24

The dragon was for St George's day i think?

Sorry for all struggling with the sleep regression, hopefully it won't last too much longer!

Very jealous of all these holidays!

Thomas Land was great. Ds1 loved it. I could rant about few things, but I'm trying to keep in mind that ds1 adores his grandparents, and they adore him too. Hopefully that'll see me through the next trying time.

I've decided to try reusable nappies. My wonderful aunt is giving me all of her Bambino Mio ones! As she had twins, there's a lot. She's coming over soon and will bring them and hopefully give me a crash course. I have DH on side (finally) to try them. We're still going to use disposables while out/ H is at mil's, as we just had a delivery of loads of them. Anyone else use Bambino Mio?

FelixFelix · 04/05/2014 08:21

Million glad DS enjoyed Thomas Land. Hope it wasn't too stressful for you!

Managed to make it until 9pm before going to bed last night (was falling asleep eating dinner Shock) and DP brought Sylvie up at 12ish. She only woke up at 2.30 for a feed then 5.40 but went back to sleep on and off until 8. Very odd that she suddenly slept better last night.

Also she's trying her hardest to roll over but not quite making it as her arm gets stuck underneath her. She was trying to roll in her cocoonababy this morning so I think that will be her last night in it Sad I'm gutted as it's so good and I'm worried she won't sleep in the bednest just on the mattress. Also I was hoping she would stay in it a bit longer as we are going up to Scotland for the weekend at the end of May and it's so much easier packing the cocoonababy than the travel cot. Oh well!

MrsGSR · 04/05/2014 09:37

Felix Leah keeps getting stuck on her arm, it's quite cute!

DH held her up to a mirror yesterday and she spent ages taking away to her reflection!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 04/05/2014 19:17

Henry giggled properly for the first time today :)

Also I'm going to give reusable nappies a go, my aunt is giving me her Bambino Mio, and some friends are giving me their Little One nappies, they are now discontinued. I'm excited to try them out. DH is on side too which helps

MerryPops · 04/05/2014 21:17

Million we had our first giggles last Sunday from gumming Xander's inner thigh, of course it hasn't worked since. We then randomly had giggles on Friday as I was imitating his heavy breathing when he gets excited, that only worked the once too! Once you've had the first giggles you get addicted to getting them again!

I am on Operation Sleepsuit tomorrow. We have tons of 0-3 months but only two 3-6 months. He's straining at the gusset of his 0-3 but one of his 3-6 buries him so we have one comfy sleepsuit at the mo. After ones with funky stuff on so he can wear as day outfits too when I'm not in the mood for messing with separates.

FelixFelix · 04/05/2014 21:29

I love giggles! They don't happen often. I've found she really giggles when I undress her as she's ticklish under her arms and round her sides. Keep trying to catch it on camera but she's having none of it! Grin

Merry I got some lovely funky patterned sleep suits from Sainsburys and the quality is really great. Built in scratch mitts too! If I HAVE to dress her, my outfit of choice is usually a long sleeved nice patterned vest with leggings. She's got a few dresses but they are such a pain in the arse that I hardly ever put her in them. Who thought it was a good idea to put tiny buttons on the back of baby clothes?! Confused

We had a brilliant moment earlier. Nothing on telly so DP put Mulan on (it was on channel 5 or something) and Sylvie sat on his knee absolutely mesmerised as usual. There was a bad part with sad music to match, and as soon as the music came on she pulled the saddest face ever (down turned mouth and everything!) and whinged for a couple of seconds. I managed to distract her and she turned to me and smiled straight away Grin it was so cute that she picked up on the sad music haha!

Also a quick question - where's the best place to buy dribble bibs that's not online? ie. supermarket or somewhere on the high street. We have about 4 of those triangle shaped ones but she's soaking through them so quickly from the teething that I need to buy about 10 more!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 04/05/2014 21:35

Best ones we found were from M&S, they are thicker than most, double lined.

Asda sell them too though

FelixFelix · 04/05/2014 21:39

Never think of M&S for baby stuff! Will have a look, thank you.

MrsGSR · 04/05/2014 22:15

We bought a load of bibs from asda, they were £3.50 for 4 in three baby event but don't know if that's still on.

Those who are breastfeeding; how many feeds do you do per day and how long do they last on average? I've been trying to do fewer, but longer feeds during the day to make sure she's not just snacking in the hope it'll help her sleep longer at night. We've been slowly increasing the time between feeds the last few days.

Spged · 05/05/2014 00:17

Oh felix , interesting to hear that not feeding well during the day is a sleep regression sign. I'm hoping we're in it now and it's not going to get even worse. After 3 weeks of 6-8 hrs between feeds we're now feeding every 2-3. Decided you must all be wrong about it being a permanent change. That just isn't an option!!

Million I've decided to try reusable nappies too this week. Visited a friend who was using them and it didn't seem to be much of a hassle really. I'm hoping to borrow ones from my cousin but haven't heard back from her yet. Also there is a local trial / lending scheme her which I may investigate. My tactic however is not to tell DH. I'm pretty sure he won't notice for a while anyway as he's totally useless about nappy changing. He thinks it's all a bit hippyish for some reason. (The reusables, not nappy changing. Although he would use that excuse if he thought he'd get away with it)

MrsGSR we've had no luck at all reducing number of feeds during the day and after this whole sleep regression stage where DD seems to be starving in the evening, I've been trying to fill her up in the day. At the moment we're feeding for approx 5-10 mins every 3 hours in the day. In the evening it's every hour or two and then currently every 2-3 hours during the night. It's exhausting!! How old us your lo? My one is 18 weeks (I think!!)

Just discovered that the self catering cottage we've rented for the week after next doesn't have a washing machine. No idea how that's going to work! Looking forward to it though especially as DH is away all this week which makes things hard work (despite the lack of nappy help!)

MrsGSR · 05/05/2014 03:52

spged is there a laundrette near by? DD is 14 weeks, I've just managed to stretch the feeds out to 3 hours apart, but she feeds for 10-20 minutes each side.

She slept for almost 4 hours in a row earlier, which is a near miracle, but doesn't want to do back down again now!

MrsGSR · 05/05/2014 03:55

I know the length of the feed probably doesn't mean much, a friend had 2 boys that put on weight almost identically, one ate constantly, the other had short feeds a long way apart, but obviously a better technique! I'm just trying to get an idea of the average.

TarkaTheOtter · 05/05/2014 04:01

mrsg since we've been away Alex is going 3 hours between feeds, whereas before is was every 1-1.5hrs during the day. I think this is because we are out and about a lot and he is in the carrier so sleeping more. He has been catching up on feeds at night though by having 1-2 night feeds when before he was sleeping through.
My experience with both dcs is the more they feed in the day the better they sleep at night.

MrsGSR · 05/05/2014 04:15

Time wise she's feeding for the same amount, if not longer. I'll try it for a few days and see what happens, I can always decrease the time between if it gets worse Smile

I'm really worried about DH being away tonight (just one night, an overnight duty). I get really anxious at night, even when he's here. I haven't had a night alone since September so I'm panicking a little!

TarkaTheOtter · 05/05/2014 04:46

I'll be online for the next couple of hours as it's only 8.45pm here. I don't like being home alone either.

Pidgy · 05/05/2014 05:09

Lara goes 2-3 hours between feeds in the day (3 means she's v hungry and whining!). She feeds for less than 10 mins each time. She's either v efficient or a snacker. DS was the same though and they are both putting on weight well.
At night she seems to go for one stretch of 4-6 hours and then is up every 2 hours. I try to only feed every 4 hours at night as if I do every 2 hours she only takes a bit before falling asleep. So, she's basically using me as a human dummy.

Best dribble bits I've found are the Funky giraffe ones online as they have a bit for the neck, but in shops I've found the M&S and asda ones very similar.

Off to a village May fayre today. Hopefully DS can have a pony ride. I'm really excited! Simple things!
I remember when I'd get excited for house parties or clubbing on a bank holiday weekend! Now it's bouncy castles and coconut shys that seem to float my boat. Lol!

TobyLerone · 05/05/2014 07:00

Morning!

Re feeding, I really have no idea how often Meredith feeds in the day. I just feed her. Sometimes she feeds for 5 minutes and she's done, but lately she's taken sometimes to feeding herself to sleep and going on and off the boob whilst doing. This often leads to over an hour of sitting there and it's very frustrating.

She usually goes 9pm - 2am ish at night. 10-min feed and then back down til 6am ish. I can't complain.

We tried expressing/getting her to take a bottle yesterday. It didn't go well!

Today I have to turn the 2 9" square vanilla sponges in my kitchen into a Mexican sugar skull by 2pm. So that'll be fun Hmm

anotherbitofcake · 05/05/2014 09:41

MrsG I do roughly every 3 hrs in day for 5-10 mins. Was both sides but green poo issues so now forcing him just to one side. He's super efficient feeder. In beginning was worried he wasn't getting enough but he's putting on weight fine. That said at night he does 7-1-4-7 roughly or if lucky 7-2-7. Never had sleep through yet. Maybe coz not getting enough in day? Who knows?. I'm experimenting with formula too up at 7 and 10 to try get him to kip through though we r at 16 weeks so dreaded sleep regression rolling up so may be useless! He's never been into the boob. Prefers dummy Shock

FelixFelix · 05/05/2014 12:18

Toby I'd love a sugar skull cake! It's on my list of things to get tattooed on myself.

First night out of the cocoonababy went better than expected. She slept downstairs for a couple of hours then went down in the bednest at 11.30. Woke at 2.30 for a bottle then back to sleep, then woke up at 5.20ish and spent a couple of hours trying to roll over then whinging and not taking a bottle/spitting out her dummy and kicking the sides of the crib. DP took her downstairs at 8 so I could sleep and I woke up at 11.30 to the sound of her hysterically crying like I've never heard before. Turns out he propped her up in the corner of the settee then nipped to the kitchen to get some cereal and she managed to shuffle and fell off the settee on to the floor Confused I think she just cried from the shock as she seems fine and was smiling and back to her normal self within 5 minutes. He feels absolutely terrible Sad
