What's the deal with threads being closed? Is there a post limit?

I am soooooo tired today. Archie has been really unsettled the last few nights from about 4am onwards. Sometimes he's hungry, sometimes he wants to play, sometimes he wants his dummy. The last two nights he's ended up in with us as it's easier to replug the dummy, pat etc.
YAWN.

They're all at this no sleep thing then. Do you reckon they are ganging up on us? I wonder if they have a secret Facebook group. Grin

I think Merrypops starts back this week Felix

I'm not sure if he's washable sunshine, ours just got a dab with a wipe because I am a manky slattern. Happy packing! Smile

Nowhere to get weighed until Friday, so a day indoors beckons I think. Have to tidy up for an NCT people visit tomorrow at some point. Maybe.

Swannykazoo · 06/05/2014 09:18

YUp, another rubbishy sleep here, with a teasing start of a great 2 hours downstairs and not waking up when taken up to bed, but waking up half an hour later as I was drifting off to sleep grrr.
Hoping an early start with early nap this morning will minimise baby melt down in pool thus morning.
Good luck packing sunshine

TobyLerone · 06/05/2014 09:21

:o Facebook group.

I'm going to SMG if you decide to come out, book. But I don't blame you for a day indoors!

Sunshineseeker80 · 06/05/2014 09:53

Thanks - we are moving to Australia next Wednesday. Well first we are going to America for a month - fly to New York then drive to Los Angeles and fly from there to Sydney in middle of June. I think we are mad. We have no family, no house and no definate jobs there and a small (sleep resistant) baby. I love an adventure me.

Emily is deffo part of this Facebook group. Her sleeping at night is better but I can't get her to nap for love nor money. She's been chatting away to herself and having a disco in her Moses basket for past hour. Now she's tired herself out and is whining. I am lying next to her and haven't it a clue what to do other than let her suck my finger, which doesn't even send her to sleep like it used to.

FelixFelix · 06/05/2014 10:05

Sunshine that sounds amazing Shock my DP is obsessed with the thought of us doing something similar but I'm too much of a control freak haha. When do you leave for America?

FelixFelix · 06/05/2014 10:06

Sorry just seen, next Wednesday. How exciting! I hope you can still log on and keep us all updated Grin

Naturegirl82 · 06/05/2014 12:32

Good luck million hope it goes well today.

Boo to all the non-sleeping babies.

I'm off to the cinema this afternoon to watch the other woman at a baby screening. Hoping O sleeps or is at least content to watch the very big screen. Seems a shame when it's such a lovely day outside. I've all ready walked the dog and been to breastfeeding group so have made use of the day Smile .

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 06/05/2014 12:41

sunshine how exciting! I'm so impressed by your adventurous spirit!

Glad I'm not the only one with a fidgety baby. When she's tired/fractious, she tries to fling herself backwards out of my arms/off my lap. It's bloody annoying.
Also, on the subject of bodily fluids, I had to take a wee sample, to check if she has a UTI. This meant feeding her, then whipping off her nappy straight away. No wee, but THREE poos, one of which went mostly in the sample pot. Then a wee which went all over her clothes. Obvs I missed having the pot ready, as it was sitting in the sink in hot soapy water. I did get lots of poo on my hands though, so that was nice. Grin

enormouse · 06/05/2014 12:57

Wow sunshine can I come? [Shameless emoticon]

I feel completely zombied today. And for once it's not the DSes fault. Dp snored his head off and I felt like killing him. DS1 slept through the night in his new big boy bed (apart from 20 minutes at the beginning of the night, where he enjoyed his right to get out when he felt like it) but he came in at 5.30am to start the day. Cal slept through in the cot and only woke up twice, which was lovely. Once they're used to their respective new beds, they'll go in together.

I've asked for a few days extension on my assignment. It's almost done but not to standard yet.

Swannykazoo · 06/05/2014 12:57

Wow sunshine I'm jealous. DH and I lived in Sydney for a year and got engaged out there. I had to come back to finish my training but we both talk about Oz lots....

enormouse · 06/05/2014 12:58

Oh humpty. That's so bleurgh. You're a braver woman than me.

MrsGSR · 06/05/2014 13:14

humpty I have a backwards flinging baby too, managed to hit her head on a wooden box a few days ago, luckily I caught her just before so it only just touched her.

I've just ordered a parasol for her pushchair, I'm terrified of her getting sunburnt so I'm keeping her in the pram until it arrives!

AMillionNameChangesLater · 06/05/2014 14:17

Hi,

Today was awful, she made me feel crap. She was surprised I was married, that I was 27, that we used reusables, that i was happy for dh to go to appts if i was working...

the list goes on.

She did a through check and he's fine. She's referring us to a dietician, and to get bloods taken.

We are to note every oz he takes, when he poos/wees, if we attempt a bottle, and we've been told to try him on food now he's 17 weeks, but to note it on the spreadsheet.

enormouse · 06/05/2014 14:25

million how dare she make you feel like crap. You are fantastic. All these things should be applauded. Don't think otherwise.

FelixFelix · 06/05/2014 14:28

Million that's rubbish, what an arsehole Sad great time for someone to be awful to you!!! Angry

Glad you're getting referred though, and good news re the food. What are you going to try him on first? I really hope it makes a difference.

AMillionNameChangesLater · 06/05/2014 15:05

I've tried him on My first Sunday dinner by hipp organic. He had maybe 4 spoonfuls. And then a spoon of mango surprise. He wolfed down the food, but started to fuss as he's now tired.

Gettingthroughthis · 06/05/2014 15:23

Sorry to everyone having sleep trouble

million sorry it didn't go so well. Just ignore the parts which you know are crap. Good that he's enjoying the food though

Henry had his jabs today after delaying then last week due to having a cold. He's still very chesty and we've both got horrible chesty coughs. Hoping he feels better soon

sunshine we lived in Sydney for 7 months last year and loved it. If you don't mind me asking how are you getting a visa? I'd love to go back but don't qualify for any of the visas

Gettingthroughthis · 06/05/2014 15:25

Also I bought a bumbo off eBay for £3.70, hoping I can collect it soon so I can join the club!

TobyLerone · 06/05/2014 15:26

How are you getting on, getting?

Sorry it didn't go so well, million. Hope you can take what you need from the appointment and ignore the rest.

FelixFelix · 06/05/2014 15:31

Million glad he's enjoyed the food!

Getting hope he feels better soon Sad great news on the bumbo. What a bargain! I just ordered a tray for ours Grin

Gettingthroughthis · 06/05/2014 15:39

Not great to be honest but I'm sure hoping it can only get easier

Also due to change in circumstances I'm now going to have to go back to work in September with h going into full time nursery. Visited one this morning and wasn't too keen. Seeing another one on Friday and hoping I love it as it's hard enough as it is without feeling guilty about leaving him

AMillionNameChangesLater · 06/05/2014 15:51

Oh getting that's tough. You've got plenty of time to find a nursery which suits

merry (pretty sure this is you) i hope work goes ok today x

MerryPops · 06/05/2014 16:59

Hi all thanks to everyone for asking about work. I've ended up changing my work pattern so I do mon-fri 8:30 - 1. I thought that would work better as it means I get every afternoon with the baby and hubby only has him in the morning as I think he would have struggled with 3 full days.

Went ok this morning although I think my boss has unreasonable expectations of what can be achieved in 22.5 hours a week! Hopefully they won't get too demanding too soon.

Million glad he seems to like the food. Makes total sense in your situation but I am sick of people telling me to start Xander on baby rice, he's only 13 weeks old and is putting on weight and sleeping well, what's the rush?!

Getting I hope things will get better for you soon, you and Henry deserve it. Nursery choice is not an easy decision. Our situation is complicated as when hubby gets a job we won't have much time to get Xander a place. My cousin works at a nursery but she has just announced she is preg so will be going on maternity leave when we need her, how very rude!

MrsGSR · 06/05/2014 19:57

Glad work went ok merry Smile

Keeping fx that you love the nursery on Friday getting!

million sorry the meeting was rubbish, but Yay to H loving baby food!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 06/05/2014 21:36

merry glad it went well today! hope your boss becomes more reasonable

million the bloody bastards. You are doing amazingly, you've had so much worry, and I just hope you will soon look back and wonder why you worried, yay for the food joy though!

getting thinking of you.

enormouse my NCT group had a big discussion about whether it's worse to be pooed on or vommed on (baby poo/vom, not adult). I don't mind baby poo, but I'm pretty unsqueamish, luckily Grin
