scrambled egg and banana cake for lunch today Hmm

flouncymcflouncerson · 13/04/2014 13:35

I did their self help thingy online and it said to call so I did. I've to go up to OOH.

YellowWellies · 13/04/2014 13:57

Good luck Flouncey they offered me super dooper painkillers when I had tonsillitis / ear infection (which perforated!) in January - my tonsils were more painful than my ears. I needed a 14 day course of very high dose penicillin to shift the bastard beasties. Hope you get something to nuke the buggers with xxx

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 15:02

LO is due to go to the paed tomorrow for her MMRV booster. WIBU to ask for it to be postponed a few weeks until after our holidays? She reacted first time round. I know they are supposed to react less second time round. I need to talk to paed anyway about this and that, but she'll agree to postpone jabs won't she?

ValiumQueen · 13/04/2014 16:16

I would think so PR.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 16:36

It's then that she had her immune related eczema outbreak. Could do without that over the holidays.

flouncymcflouncerson · 13/04/2014 17:36

Ten day course of 8 penicillin tablets a day.... That better shift it!

ValiumQueen · 13/04/2014 17:42

Good Flouncy. Take probiotics and have canesten on hand though

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 18:09

Fx flouncy you've been ill for a couple of weeks now iirc.

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 18:17

FX flouncy

No idea, PR but worth asking surely

R down at 5:20. Now mumping. FFS.

flouncymcflouncerson · 13/04/2014 18:20

Down for a nap pp ? Or bed at that time?

YellowWellies · 13/04/2014 18:40

PR I'd not hesitate in postponing until after hols just in case. Am sure the doc will agree.

Flouncy yes yes yes on the ABs. Yes yes yes to VQs advice on canesten and probiotics .

We have tipped a load of junk, built the daybed for the office and screwed the roll top onto the desk. Just realised we need to get a single duvet but other than putting clutter away the guest room is nearly ready for SIL et al to arrive on Thursday from London. Smile

YellowWellies · 13/04/2014 18:44

Shame we've put all the junk from the wee spare bedroom where the DNs will be staying into the big spare room where SIL and BIL will be staying and you now can't get into the room.

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 19:02

Down for the night. I have an early bird Hmm

He's really struggling now though. I sat with him for 10 minutes, which I haven't had to do for ages, and he started again when I left. But sounds like he's calming again now. He doesn't like me helping him to sleep (bats my hand away etc) but that leaves me sat on the sofa listening to him yell which breaks my heart Sad

ChasingDaisy · 13/04/2014 19:06

My early bird struggled to get to sleep tonight too. He usually does on a Sunday though - he's overstimulated from the weekend and finds it hard to switch off.

He appears to have dropped his daytime bottle though, which is great news as it means one 5 less bottles a week to wash Grin

Zamboni · 13/04/2014 19:19

PR I'd def reschedule. FLouncy I hope the ABs do the trick. Hope wanda has had a fab weekend. Chasing - what did you get up to?

Nothing to contribute to the sharing of alcohol fears but I have read and have much sympathy for those of you dealing or having dealt with it.

Lovely day here - zoo this morning then DSD went home then gardening and pottering this afternoon. DC all clean and hair freshly washed. Am also shit with girls' hair despite having always had v long hair myself. DD currently sporting 2 wonky plaits. Must learn how to French plait it.

DH and I have just discovered Sherlock - the BC version. Staring season 3 this eve. I quite fancy BC in it, am I wrong? DH thinks so

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 19:25

You are wrong zamboni but there are whole MN cumbersnatch quiches who will welcome you :o

pidj at this age they start to need to sleep less. Maybe shift his nap around and put him down for the night later?

Had a bit of a scary moment this evening. Choking related. Not the first or last but always have a bit of a wibble.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 19:27

We're down to 6oz in the morning and maybe 2-4 in the evening. Will be asking the paed tomorrow about how to top up. They do chocolate toddler milk here but am a bit Hmm about the sugar.

flouncymcflouncerson · 13/04/2014 19:52

Wow! How long does he sleep pp? That's crazy early. My kids done even have dinner til 5.30pm! Jealous. Com!

ChasingDaisy · 13/04/2014 19:52

Zamboni - I am a total Cumberbitch Grin I luffs Martin Freeman more though. Don't be put off by the start of series 3 - it gets better. Promise. Thanks for asking about my weekend - I had my hair done yesterday and have spent today doing sod all. JFG was supposed to be coming round tonight, but text earlier to say he may have to cancel. So I'm currently in angry limbo.

O has 6oz milk in the morning and 4ish before bed. O is showing no signs of needing to sleep less at the moment - quite the opposite, he sleeps 13-14 hours at night and 2-3 for his nap. Don't hate me

YellowWellies · 13/04/2014 20:13

Chasing I LOVE your superblonde mane - its magnificent. When I'm done being preggers and BF I am going to dye mine superblonde one last time before I'm too old! Smile

I'm having an attack of the sensibles. You know we've been saving up for ages for the wood burner. Well we've finally got £3.5k saved. I'm now convinced we should save it for when the baby arrives as that cash will pay for Jonas' 2 days a week in daycare until he gets the state subsidised place and will pay for a weekly cleaner whilst I'm on mat leave. I know its really dull but saving it is the right choice isn't it? Sad If freelance is quiet then I'd struggle to save it again. I figure we won't use a wood burner until autumn now so if I work my ass off we could get one in by then. Tell me joyful things about why saving money is exciting, please. My inner impulsive bunny is vair pissed off at myself....

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 20:14

He was going down (clearly exhausted) around 5:30, waking once for a nappy in the early hours then sleeping till 7 and playing till nearly 8. He sleeps 11:30-whenever, usually an hour and a half, during the day, and is usually exhausted by that time. The last couple of weeks his sleep has been disturbed - he calls out, it's not even shouting, once or twice then goes quiet again - during the evening. Last night he woke at 7, 9:30, 11 when I changed his nappy just in case, 2:30 and 5:30. Woke at 7 and chatted happily till 8 as usual. He's been very subdued the last couple of days and I wondered if he was coming down with something but the lack of symptoms makes me think it's not that. The lack his normal response to calpol indicates not teeth because when he's teething, calpol has an instant effect. I can definitely feel at least one and possibly two big hard pointy patches at the back of his mouth though behind his premolars and got nipped in the process of finding out although he's been fine about teeth cleaning where he normally gets really sensitive on that side when things are moving.

He's clearly exhausted. Was giving me all the signs at the usual times. He woke at 6:15 and has worked himself into a fury. Calm as soon as he comes out of the cot. I've changed his sheet, changed his nappy, changed from wool longies (usual winner) to wrap with cotton bottoms. Sat with him - he batted my hand away and gave clear signs he didn't want me there. Read his Night Night book again and had a cuddle in the chair. He had calpol at 1ish and 5ish, I have ibuprofen in reserve. He's had a chamomile powder. He's just gone quiet again, my next thing to try is a banana as he hasn't eaten much today, although was offered many different things of varied textures both off a spoon and finger food. He barely finished one yoghurt at dinner, ate 1/3 of a banana, left some of his homemade muffin (all surefire hits normally) so I'm as sure as I can be that he isn't hungry.

R doesn't have either formula or breast milk feeds. He has cows milk either with or on cereal depending on what he chooses in the morning. Then cheese and a yoghurt during the day, oily fish twice a week and spinach every 2-3 days. Weetabix and cheerios/other enriched cereal for breakfast. As he self-weaned, I'm assuming he doesn't need it but do make sure he has calcium and iron rich food regularly budget allowing

He still quiet. I might have to give up on the bath and just have a wash under the headless shower (makes the least noise, bathroom is next to his bedroom) at nap time tomorrow. Am definitely risking a Wine now though!

A huge, self-indulgent, epically long and dull rant. But it's that or call my mum for help and there's not an awful lot she can do except pour wine and i have some of that already I'm off to a meet up of crafty local crafty mners tomorrow so hopefully some of them will have suggestions, their kids are all older and one (who I know already) has 5.

After that I might try having a really quiet week. I normally get him out and about morning and afternoon, either to playgroup or the shops or just the park over the road, to get him thoroughly tired. Maybe he needs some quiet time at home?

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 20:15

Sorry. That really is immense. Please ignore.

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 20:17

YW my Gran is in her 90s and superblonde. There's no age limit :o

ChasingDaisy · 13/04/2014 20:19

Aww thanks YW Smile. Usually, the blonder I am, the happier I am. I figured that now I'm working again, I can afford to maintain an uber-blonde do!

Pidj I think your plan for the week sounds like a good one. O struggles to get to sleep when overstimulated. Maybe give a quiet week a go and see how you get on. Failing that then Wine
