Pidj maybe a leap / growth spurt? Jonas has a week where he sleeps a lot and eats a lot preceded or sometimes followed by a week where he eats and sleeps more sparsely?

Zamboni · 13/04/2014 20:42

PP hugs. I don't know what to suggest but maybe quiet time isn't a bad idea at all.

YW I am an impulse, fuck it kind of girl so I say this firmly in my glass house! But think of the security those savings offer - to maintain routine for the bear and give you a gift worth so much when you need it most. When I was pg with S, saving so DD could continue with nursery x2 a week was one of my top priorities. Partly for her - I wanted her life as unchanged as possible and maintaining routine was essential as well as making sure she had 2 days with lots of good activities because the early weeks with S consisted of a lot of Peppa and chocolate button bribery and partly for me because those two days I had just for S and me! And knowing I had that in place was really comforting.

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 20:44

This is hitting week 3 iirc. I would happily change the routine if he were giving me any signs of needing it, but he goes glassy eyed and clingy at set times each day, i.e. 1am and 4pm, so I know that's when I need to get a shift on iyswim?

I haven't had an email re wonder weeks for ages, but tbh none of the others have corresponded either. He was 2 weeks early according to scans and EDD but was a wee mite like his mummy and daddy at birth so I'm not entirely sure it was accurate - surely every single foetus ever isn't exactly the same size just as every single baby ever isn't born exactly the same size? Anyhow, with vvvdf and me being on the short side I sometimes wonder if he actually arrived at term and the science isn't as accurate as they like to make us think Hmm have had wine now yum yum MInd you it still surprises me that he's on the 50th now. Looking at us and our families, 0.4th line was about the right place for him Shock

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 20:45

11am not 1am Hmm

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 20:46

YW the rules for 2+ funding are changing in September, worth checking out if he gets 10 hours a week from then?

YellowWellies · 13/04/2014 20:58

Thanks Pidj will check it out - was not sure if it applies to Haggisland or not. I'm sure R is fine he's maybe just having a spurt combined with tooth niggles or doing the usual 'hmm Mum is looking like she's got everything sussed let's throw her a curve ball' Smile .

Zamboni thanks! Must stock up on dairy free buttons. It is the right choice. I know if we had it installed and then freelance went quiet or the wee one arrived early again I'd have a sinking feeling about splurging the money before we had a cushion. But boo!

ValiumQueen · 13/04/2014 21:18

YW keep it saved and keep adding to it as and when. You may be able to have both come winter. Having a second is hard work, physically and emotionally, and you will be glad of the days when pg and the bear is at nursery so you can rest or nest, and also when baby arrives you will be oh so glad of the days you can concentrate on just her Wink plus it will be so much better for J to have that continuity. You could come to really resent the burner of you did it the other way around. You will get your burner in time Smile

ValiumQueen · 13/04/2014 21:19

I think 2 plus funding is only for families in need, i.e. referred by social services etc?

ValiumQueen · 13/04/2014 21:19
PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 21:28

It's expanding massively to those on WTC earning under about 6.8k among other things, VQ It used to be a referral thing, in fact iirc it was when I was temping and pregnant with R. There'll be a fair few here I'd have thought who will qualify for funding from January next year :)

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 21:29

New rules from September 2014

From September 2014 more 2-year-olds in England will be eligible for free early education.

As well as the current rules, a child will then also be eligible if any of the following apply:

you get Working Tax Credits and earn no more than £16,190 a year
they have a current statement of special educational needs (SEN) or an education, health and care plan
they get Disability Living Allowance
they’ve left care through special guardianship or an adoption or residence order
Contact your local council to check if your child will be eligible.

From here www.gov.uk/free-early-education

ChasingDaisy · 13/04/2014 21:30

Bugger, I'm on WTC earning 7.2k

Having an attack of loneliness. The hour or so before bed is always rubbish.

ChasingDaisy · 13/04/2014 21:30

Ooh, so I would qualify then?

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 21:31

I wonder if reflux and allergies could qualify one for DLA? If you could prove it had enough of an impact on life etc... Her milk and apple allergies definitely affect my friend's life, the one I had to stab that time Hmm

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 21:31

Yes, Chasing and also I think maybe Isles might?

PurplePidjin · 13/04/2014 21:32

Gah just realised I missed another 1 out! 16k

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 21:32

I'd install the woodburner tbh. It will cut down your heating bills and make winter more bearable. Maybe a cheaper one though? If that exists.

ValiumQueen · 13/04/2014 21:39

BP further to your comment the other day, it is a combination of cutting the milk AND the omeprazole. I have tried again to reduce it here a teensy bit and no, it had gone straight back up again. No more fiddling with doses here!

ChasingDaisy · 13/04/2014 21:45

Thanks Pidj, that'll be awesome come January.

Wandathewindfairy · 13/04/2014 21:47

I thought you got the woodburner yw? Tbh I would have thought you could do that and still have some savings left?

pp have you considered moving Rs bed time later? Just trying to stretch him out a bit longer may mean he was ready for a longer sleep through.

Having a lovely time with the girls. Just being, and reading, and cuddling, and eating. Swimming tomorrow. Grin

YellowWellies · 13/04/2014 21:50

Aye we got the burner on eBay its the installation costs that would devour my nest egg. It can sit in the outhouse for a while longer.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 21:53

Glad you're having a great time wanda I too love Malory Towers :)

Every few nights here we're getting an extra shout out from LO. Fortunately all before midnight so far but I'm thinking it's either Teething or the dreaded R.

PetiteRaleuse · 13/04/2014 21:54

Do you already have a fireplace and working chimney? I can't see how installation would cost £3.5k

GTbaby · 13/04/2014 21:56

Chasing that means you get it? Or did you mean 17k?

Wandathewindfairy · 13/04/2014 21:58

I think there is a lot of wisdom in this quiche for this woman my heart goes out to her and I know loads of you have been though the same.
