YellowWellies · 11/04/2014 12:58

DH and I are going out for dinner tonight to a lovely restaurant we used to go to every weekend in our childless days when we lived in South Queensferry. This is the first meal out I'll be able to have what I actually want off a menu rather than trying to find and fail to get excited at the one dairy free choice on the menu - since December 2012. Am v excited!!!!!!! Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

50hz · 11/04/2014 13:29

Ok. I think I know what to do.

Wandathewindfairy · 11/04/2014 13:35
Hmm

Glad things on the sleep front are looking up for quite a few of you.

We have spent the morning outside at the park, my heart in my mouth most of the time. O did a somersault out of the sit in swing. Yes the swings that are supposed to keep them in. I am not sure exactly what happened, but I think what happened was he decided to get out mid swing by doing a bit of a back bend (like they do when they really want to escape the high hair). I think he did this at the top of the arc of the swing iyswim. Flip over and land on back. I just ran and picked him up. I don't know if this was the right thing to do but it was my instinct. And all he was bothered about was his biscuit.

But a good ring making new friends. And a nice lunch after being In The fresh air. Now I have a hundred jobs still to do to prep for the next few days....where is that wand? Wink

Wandathewindfairy · 11/04/2014 13:36

Good time. Hey, I'm back!

PetiteRaleuse · 11/04/2014 14:13

Much prefer wanda :)

YellowWellies · 11/04/2014 14:21

Love love love it! Wanda suits you! But wah to baby stuntmen! Jonas is crazy at the mo. You know those teens who freeclimb stupidly high cranes - am convinced that'll be him Confused .

Wandathewindfairy · 11/04/2014 14:42

Yep. Am planning climbing wall birthday parties already!

YellowWellies · 11/04/2014 17:42

He's just burst into tears because he can't fit my foot in HIS shoe. Grin

Wandathewindfairy · 11/04/2014 18:32

Life is soooo frustrating when you are 18months.

I think I have declared myself off duty. I have a Wine and my
Friday crisps. The enchilada middle is simmering on the stove, boys are in their pjs, DH is home.

Also: my bag is packed, the car seats are out of my car, I have my boarding pass and my makeup in a little see through bag! 1 sleep. Although not much of one as I have to leave the house at 04:30. Shock early night for me.

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2014 18:32

Loving it Wanda. Glad we know of the turbine otherwise we could be quite alarmed Wink FredatheFlatulanceFairy?

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2014 18:33

That swing incident must have been terrifying Shock

Wandathewindfairy · 11/04/2014 18:53
Grin
Wandathewindfairy · 11/04/2014 18:54

It was. He surely is a daredevil. My uncle was a climber (mountain guide on the Isle of Skye) I have fears he will take after him and be an adventurer!

PurplePidjin · 11/04/2014 20:16

I have Wine

And Chocolate

Well, I did. I ate it.

And the lemon sole with sweet potato

Wandathewindfairy · 11/04/2014 20:24

Yum pp I am off to bed now minus I pad! as I have a v early start. Grin

PurplePidjin · 11/04/2014 20:38

Random stuff:

On the advice of someone here I sprinkled curry powder and shoved a garlic clove into my door frame. The ants are happily eating the garlic and curry, having made a mockery of my honey trap Hmm any other thoughts?

And:

Why do more parents not use reins on their toddlers? I saw 3 meltdowns in town today, not including R's, and he was the only one under physical control. Am I an old gimmer to use them, and also to just pick him up and take him if he's sunk to a prone position on the dog shitty pavement or trying to run into the traffic?

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2014 20:51

I used reins with both my girls, but J has never even been threatened with them as he walks so nicely holding my hand. If that changes then he will have them. If he tantrums, I just pick him up in a fireman lift (like Pass) and carry him, whilst ignoring him. It has only happened once.

Night night peeps, sweet dreams to all x

PurplePidjin · 11/04/2014 20:54

Yeah, I think it was the "standing over them watching them roll in shit and fag ends" that bothered me more than the no reins thing. I can see that you'd let a 4 or 5yo who was a bugger to lift, but not a teeny one like ours! Although I'm very used to slinging him so therefore maybe used to the weight more than someone who mainly uses a buggy?

MsJupiter · 11/04/2014 21:09

I have one of those backpacks with a strap to hold but L flings himself on the ground if I try to use it to steer him in any direction other than the one he wishes to go in.

We went to the farm today. I didn't take the buggy as I thought we could walk round more easily without it. I feel like I've done ten rounds with Mike Tyson.

The little girl we were with walked round nicely and cried once when she fell over. L charged around like a lunatic making animal noises and screeching with alternate bouts of joy and despair.

I am really not sure if we had a nice day or not.

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/04/2014 21:18

Love the new name wanda. Safe travels and have a wonderful trip.

DD1 had reins as she was a bolter. Pretty sure E will not need them as she never leaves my side.

Hehe jj Your last sentence made me smile. When DH gets in from work and asks if I've had a nice day sometimes I'm really not sure of the answer.

I'd say today was a day of two halves. Lovely morning/afternoon with friends over. Kids playing in the garden and adults eating and gossiping. For some random reason I decided to go to the local shopping centre after they'd left which wasn't till about 3.30pm. Of course both girls were knackered leading to many meltdowns, me included!

GTbaby · 11/04/2014 21:18

Pp maybe they are trying not to give into the tantrum?

A has been a lot happier today however his temp hit 38.4. So a lil confused. As he was miserable but ok temp but happy ish with a high temp?

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/04/2014 21:41

This makes me feel better about calling DD2 E on here and I have to admit I think it's rather cute, but a real life name Hmm Conversions would go: What's your name? E. How do you spell that? It's just the letter E.

Does a baby's name affect it's chances in life?

PurplePidjin · 11/04/2014 21:56

I saw that earlier Eliza - and wondered where on earth they got the other child's name from Hmm it's not exactly a cultural reference Hmm

Elizadoesdolittle · 11/04/2014 22:25

pp Yes, a very bizarre name and like you said no cultural reference at all. They let a 4 yr old add 2 names to his name. Who in their right mind lets a 4 yr old do that? I dread to think what DD1 would call herself.
