O seems to be on the mend from his fever earlier this week, thank goodness. He actually ate today, which is an improvement and we had some giggles. Oh and new words! He now says 'down' when he has finished eating, 'key' - he is absolutely obsessed with the door keys, and can now select the correct key and put it in the lock, and 'biscuit'. He tends to only say a word once or twice though. I think he just likes to know he can say it and then stores it away in his word bank. He didn't walk until he could do it confidently, so I think he might be the same with talking. He's a bit of a perfectionist already.

Passmethecrisps · 10/04/2014 21:40

Hia chasing! I think they like to test the feel of words in their mouths.

Could 50hz be to do with a wind turbine???

You are still working like a Trojan zamboni. I imagine it goes with the territory.

I have an in ear thermometer GT and I class a temp as over 37.6. P seems noticeably uncomfortable over 38. Go with how he presents I reckon. If he seems unwell then give meds. I have never had a temp other than once at uni with Scarlett fever. I have been unwell though and needed paracetamol.

BigPigLittlePig · 10/04/2014 21:42

Surely Sophia!?

Pass your day sounds great, thanks for wishing good day vibes. I'm off work next week so fc we have some then.

Kyz glad the rat is doing well, hope she/he continues to improve. Good luck with the regular night wakings!

Zamboni I think that was part of it, dh needs a list to work from, and I had stopped doing one as I thought he'd got it. He hadn't. I think part of the low mood is just feeling so hopeless about F and the reflux. For months, i had pinned all my hopes on the paed providing some knowledge/a plan, and when that wasn't forthcoming, I've just felt so lost. We got the dietitian appt today, but that's not til mid-June!

As the nutramigen also contains soya oil have ditched that as of tonight. She didn't seem to notice/care about the switch to oat milk in her bottle, so will just get some good multi vitamins and hope for the best.

Passmethecrisps · 10/04/2014 21:46

And new words here are:

Door
Boba - bottle
More!
Booby
Weewee
Bra

She has takes to pointing in the toilet and shouting 'weewee!'. Which meant I was privy to this conversation earlier . . .

DH - right p, I need a wee
P - wee wee!!!!!!
DH - yep. Hang on

P - wee wee!!!!!
DH - I know! Just, ya know, give me a second.
< p looks positively furious now and is pointing crossly at DH's willy>
P - WEEEEWEEE!!
DH - bloody hell! You are making my penis shy! Chill out!!

Eventually wee wee was had and all were happy.

I have absolutely no idea where she has picked up boobie. The other day she was cuddled in bed with me. She pulled back my bra and pointed before saying very seriously "booby"

Vq it's a fancy ear one.
Pass the high last night was 37.8 and today it was 37.6.
He seemed so uncomfortable and just looking at me with his trembling lip a "why you not helping me mummy" look in his eye. Poor baby.

Passmethecrisps · 10/04/2014 22:52

You do what you can gt. A few doses of calpol within the range will be fine. I was there a few weeks ago - nothing massive temp wise to speak of but total baby misery. Personally. I would medicate if he seems unhappy. Of he brightens then you know it helped

Passmethecrisps · 10/04/2014 22:53

The advice is also to strip off and use a cold wet flannel. I found with p that this just made her crosser but worth a go if you are looking not to medicate or wanting to stretch between doses

PetiteRaleuse · 10/04/2014 23:04

Creche only medicate over 38.5. They told me under that you're risking hypothermia. :o I actually did laugh out loud. And checked with drs. Your calpol will say after 3mo or a certain weight a certain no of doses a day. If you don't break that you are ok

Anyway.... i hate to break it to quiche, but at 18mo minus a week I think we just have had our first signs of regression. No pain or fever, I dealt with teeth before bed. It was literally a wake up and tantrum. Only mum would do have to rectify that and took a small milk feed and a lie down cuddle to get back to sleep. Took about an hour. Ugh.

DD1 did this too but was either heavily up diffed or up with newborn. I honestly don't think it was too awful though. Tonight was all about showing that everyone was gone, life was boring, best off asleep.

No idea how I will sleep now but...anyhoo.

GTbaby · 10/04/2014 23:10

Thanks pass. Did take him out of his grow bag last night. Hoping he sleeps well.

H is seeming to understand a lot more all of a sudden. Stops when I say no (in angry voice). Started wanting to drink his milk himself. He pushed the teat into the bottle today. So time we move milk into a dippy cup!
Yesterday showed first sign of jealousy towards A. It was his milk time. And usually sits next to me while I hold A. But he kept going to push A off my lap while saying dudu(milk).
And he covers his eyes with his hands and then peaks around them to look at me. At which point I yell peek a boo and he giggles like crazy.

Sry having a soppy mummy moment.

50hz · 10/04/2014 23:19

I am dubious about the ear thermometers tbh they seem a random.

We have had a shitty evening too, but I am 99.9% sure it is the next lots of teeth coming as I spied a white corner poking out in the gap between the incisors and the molars. How the fuck is one to put dentinox (there are other brands of teething gel) in there?

I could have done without him having a bad evening actually as I was trying to get all their clothes for sat till tues sorted and ironed and laid out for DH so that I can spend tomorrow night with DH. What should have taken an hour starting at 7:30, took me till 10ish.

So I have just had a chill out and finished watching OBEM from Monday.

DH should be back from Brussels in the next 30 mins and I am looking forward to a snuggle.

Kyz · 11/04/2014 02:43

Not read, will do, still here , still alive, good stuff. Two more feeds before morning. Good grief no wonder mummy rats are glad to be shot of them by a fortnight old! This one is doing well though. Anyway, zzzzzzzz

Kyz · 11/04/2014 04:42

Hope you're all asleep :)

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2014 07:38

A good night was had here thank Fuck. Asleep at 9 as had failed bedtime at 7. Slept until 5.15 in his own bed, then in with me until DD2 woke us at 7. She fell asleep in my bed last night and I moved her to her own bed, which is what I think woke J. After the first bedtime fail I tried a different approach at 9 which was lovely, involving gradual retreat. I will try that tonight first I think as DH will be home so he can sort the girls.

Glad the baby is doing well Kyz. Still waiting on the pic.

Pass that made me LOL! Grin

Hope you got some sleep PR and that the regression is brief. J is 18 months on 25th, but he was a week early.

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2014 07:40

BP I totally understand the dip in mood relating to the reflux and Paed etc. big hug. I thought she was on Nutrimigen AA? I think you will notice a positive difference following ditching the formula as I did x

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2014 07:42

And Pass I thought the flannel was no longer recommended? Not sure though. I will need to investigate.

StuntNun · 11/04/2014 08:14

At the risk of boring you all I'll dash in to say that J slept through again 7-5:30. What a change for us! Now he's sleeping through more often than not. It makes me wonder just how common CMPI is as none of the HP seem to have a clue. My mum, who is a HV, complains that my brothers and I were terrible sleepers but when I suggested to her that we may have had CMPI as well she got annoyed at me for daring to suggest that dairy products are anything other than wholesome. Hmm

50hz · 11/04/2014 08:26

Morning all. Good jobs on sleeps stunt and vq

Hope you are ok kyz and the rest of your family! ratty or otherwise are bearing up. Xx

It is a beautiful morning here so we are abandoning toddlers in favour of the park with the friend I have made. Yes the one friend I have made.

I feel slightly less neurotic than yesterday. I will see if I fit to my new name or whether I am just inherently the fairy.

50hz · 11/04/2014 09:21

Oh dear ......tumbleweed.

Passmethecrisps · 11/04/2014 09:25

No, I think you are right vq. I always thought it was a bit daft anyway. Is that the same then as giving a cold bath?

P has just fallen and landed right on her head. She was bouncing on her pushchair Hmm

She cried a fair amount but is now running around. Checked the advice on concussion symptoms and quite how I am supposed to tell if she is talking nonsense I am not sure!

YellowWellies · 11/04/2014 09:29

Lovey you're the fairy. Maybe the 50hz fairy? Smile

I slept from 10.30 til 8 interrupted by one preggo bladder loo trip. Over 9 hours. Wonderful! Clearly playing outside for 6 hours is anaesthetic for bears come bedtime.

Stunt that's why when folks were like 'woo how can you cut out dairy for 15 months' I was Hmm . I'd rather sleep, have a baby that sleeps and isn't in pain and have good mental health even if that means no comfort food. No brainer. The difference is amazing though isn't it. I wish it were better recognised as you can feel a right freak but meh better a well rested freak!!!

Pikz · 11/04/2014 09:32

Stunt u get a lot of the same reaction. All I ask is he doesn't get cows milk to drink. But as YW says we are now a well rested happy family without it. I would rather that! I got 10 hours sleep last night. L slept 12. A month ago I was getting 4 at a push!

BigPigLittlePig · 11/04/2014 09:58

Yes 50, you should have wings Smile

We had a sleep through, and only woke when the rest of us got up to take dsd to her swimming lesson. Dh made breakfast for all too, so am mooching around with F and reading books. In particular, monkey puzzle, aka the most read book ever.

It's nearly the weekend. And then I have a week odd Smile Smile

ValiumQueen · 11/04/2014 11:32

Great news on sleep Smile how is Flouncy though? Sadly I fear she may not have had a good night. I am especially glad BP got a good night as I was beginning to worry about you Thanks
