Aqueous cream???

Tell me more.....

lunavix · 03/09/2006 13:59

It's a huge great pot of stinky white cream (well it might come smaller lol) think it was £5 but it was literally a huge tub. Used to rub it all over ds as his feet, back, tummy everything was peeling. Was really good.

Using the diprobase as we have it in the house, basically!

lunavix · 03/09/2006 14:00

THe aqueous cream isn't prescription you can just go get it.

PinkTulips · 03/09/2006 14:01

olive oil is fab too for the dry skin... and much less unpleasant give ellis a baby massage with it and it could help the sleep and vomiting probe too

YellowFeathers · 03/09/2006 14:44

I fancied using something a bit more natural since we've not bothered smothering him in Johnsons baby products
I'll have a look for the Aqueous cream though as this oil gel is rubbish.
Not sure if our Boots will have it though.

I think today he seems to be controlling the vomiting himself as he's only taking 1 1/2oz feeds, so maybe he was having too much?

sarahlou1uk · 03/09/2006 15:24

Lockets - both my lo's are tongue tied, ds more than dd. When ds was born 3 years ago it wasn't the norm to cut them - so he was left. This was why I had problems breastfeeding and then bottle feeding with terrible colic. However, over the last 3 years his ligament under his tongue must have stretched because now he can get his tongue over his bottom lip. Still has problems with speech and certain vowels but should be starting speech therapy when he goes back to nursery.

DD has tongue tied but very slight. Again, policy is not to cut unless causing problems with feeding.

This doesn't run in my family - it runs in dh's! Apparantly his mum was very tongue tied but she had hers cut when she was a baby. DH's sister is tongue tied but they left it and now you can't tell because she had speech therapy some 40+ years ago!! DH isn't - he's just a mouthy sod sometimes!

Hi everyone, hope everyone is ok?

I am ok, George is a love! sleeps 11pm to 7.30am every night now, can't believe how good and content he is

I have ended up with infection in my cut and inside (c section)too so am on AB's for that, but do feel fine.Quite weird as healed really well and then this 4 weeks later.

George has had some quite bad baby acne which he is on AB cream for, but apart from that everything is brill dd adores him still, which i thought would change once the novelty had worn off...but hasn't

purpleturtle · 03/09/2006 16:19

Yellowfeathers - our MWs all recommend olive oil for dry/peely babies. Not least because it probably won't cost you anything as it's in the house already!

dreamydowler · 03/09/2006 17:02

Hiya everyone just popping over to thank you all for your continued support. Still no sign of baby coming. Have had a sweep my first ever have tried sex pineapple climbing stairs etc had tummy bug last weekend and even that didnt start things off. Im slowly going insane as I have never been this overdue before even though it has only been 3 days so far. The hospital dont want to see me again until 13th september and midwife said she will see me again once baby is born so it is just a very boring and increasingly lonely waiting game. I think there are only three of us left to pop so heres hoping we will all be joining you soon xxx

muminkent · 03/09/2006 17:10

Dreamydowler - sorry to burst in on your thread but just thought i'd give you some support. i know how you fell. i went 13days over last year. IT was horrible i tried everything raspberry leaf tea capsules and everything you've mentioned. in the end it took the thought of being induced to get my ds out.

just be patient and enjoy everyone running round after you. take a long warm bath with lavender scented candles, lock the door (unles you're liable to drop in there!) and enjoy time with just you and baby for one of the times.

Hope you dont go too much longer. be thinknig of you

MIK

dreamydowler · 03/09/2006 17:19

thanks so much for your thoughtfulness muminkent Im going to run a nice warm bath and maybe have a glass of wine

YellowFeathers · 03/09/2006 20:41

Purple, will extra virgin be ok? lol

Have just discovered my ds is a Foo Fighters fan
Oh and hates dummys!

PinkTulips · 03/09/2006 21:39

i've just discovered mine loves dummies

dp has a mate round for the weekend and i didn't feel like hiding in the spare room all night when caleb was just comfort sucking so gave him a dummy and he loves it.

he smiled at dd this morning and gave me a big grin this afternoons so i'm all gushy

YF Milo had really dry skin and I got some lovely baby lotion from Baby Organics and it cleared it. Green Baby also does yummy stuff (all online if you google)

HELP!! those of you who also have a toddler to look after, HOW DO YOU DO IT?! DH back at work and out of the house at 6am this morning, my mum went back to Finland yesterday, everyone has been crying all morning. People tell me that the first few weeks are carnage and then it gets easier. Well thanks. is it too early for wine?

melsy · 04/09/2006 08:20

lol kitegirl, Im wondering the same , how do u do it with a 3yr old who wants to drag dd2 out of the bouncer cradle by one leg or suffocate her??

YellowFeathers · 04/09/2006 08:45

Oh god girls, don't tell me about horror stories already!
Dh goes back on Thursday and I'm dreading it. Not only that, we'll have the school run to do aswell the week after!!!

Kg, I've seen the green baby stuff too. Not sure what to try now as you've all recommended lots of stuff

Melsy, have been thinking of you. Hows it going with dh back at work? Let me know how the Doula is!

I need to pick your brains again too girlies. I've woke up this morning with a pain in one of my boobs. Its just like when your milk comes in but more to the side. I'm not sure wether dh has nudged me in the night or if it is my milk as I'm still leaking.
Any ideas? Could it be mastitis (sp)?

On a good note though, Ellis' vomiting was alot better yesterday and he's slipped right back into his old routine. So he went down at 10pm and didn't wake till 5:20am!
How happy am I!!!!

YellowFeathers · 04/09/2006 08:47

Oh and do you know KG and Melsy. SIL has arranged her hen dooo for the end of October and we're coming to London. I would have loved to have met up with you both but shes jam packed the weekend so I've no chance!!!

kitegirl · 04/09/2006 08:55

yay YF surely you have time for a quick drink! No is just not an option. Travel down a bit earlier. or leave later.

YellowFeathers · 04/09/2006 08:57

Well we're all travelling together on the train. Shes booked some spa thing involving a relaxation tank , a winery , a show (possibly the producers or Mamma Mia) then a bit of a boozo

So I need to shift this baby paunch so I can look fabulous

PinkTulips · 04/09/2006 09:55

kitegirl, i make sure the room is pretty toddler proof, let dd run loose and sit on the couch or in front of pc feeding burping changing and cuddling caleb. i have everything i could possibly need for him downstairs so the only reason i have to go upstairs is if dd needs a nappy change. dd is happy enough as long as i'm chatting away to her and she can still come up and show me things or if need be i'm not bad at walking while feeding... then when he's having his naps she gets my undivided attention and cuddles.

as for pulling at him, we adopt the 'NO dd, caleb doesn't like that, you have to be gentle like this (gently stroke her arm). you're a good girl, now give him a kiss'. it seems to work extremely well as shes super gentle with him now... if shes running over to him she stops a few feet away and really carefully tiptoes the rest of the way!

lunavix · 04/09/2006 11:20

I fully sympathise with everyone and the toddlers!

Ds is 2.4 and I'm dreading dh going back to work. At the moment it's a fight to have everyone fed dressed and ready for the day by 11am! I start work next monday and for two weeks we all have to be ready for 8... although on the monday we all have to be ready by 7

After that I'm only doing three hours in an afternoon so have more time to get ready.. until October when ds starts preschool!

lunavix · 04/09/2006 11:30

Has anyone read a good book on breastfeeding? I feel such a total amateur at it and have tons of stupid questions that I think are probably too basic to ask

hoppybird · 04/09/2006 12:33

Hello everyone!

Lots to catch up on again - my little dd has got a sore throat (me too) - annoyed that she's caught something already, grrr, feeding and sleeping was going so well, and now she's back on hourly/2 hourly feeds to keep her fluids up. And she's weeing (and pooing) like a wee and poo machine! I'm actually amazed at how much she's producing, as obviously it means I've put a lot in there in the first place. I've been eating and drinking lots myself to try and keep up. My dh has been dealing with practically all the nappies so far, which was lovely, but he's back at work today for a couple of days. Will be home for ds's first day at school though!

Luna - re breastfeeding. The best advice on breastfeeding, I've found, comes from chatting to (and being actually helped by) someone who's already done it. Does your hospital have breastfeeing councellors? If not, you could perhaps contact the NCT or La Leche league - I found them extremely useful when I had problems with my ds.

Eeny - so sorry to hear about Alex's colic - I really sympathise with you, as my ds had this. Mothers who've never experienced it are so, so very lucky! I tried infacol and dentinox. I used a dropper just prior to a feed when baby was rooting - they tend to suck on the dropper, and you just gently squeeze the bulb - you need to wash it out afterwards though. Didn't work for us, but it could for you. :/

The only thing which seemed to make a difference with ds was drinking fennel tea, as it would come through in the milk. I also found that (before her sore throat) Julia was settling well when I was drinking camomile tea as well as fennel tea - both are good for your own digestion, so maybe that's what makes the difference?

dressedupnowheretogo · 04/09/2006 18:53

YellowFeathers · 04/09/2006 18:59

Evening all.
Just nipped on for a bit of advice on a couple of things. I'm going to take them to the main board too but we have lots of experience on here

Firstly, I spoke to soon on the vomiting. We've had a major puke fest here. The HV came this morning and she seems to think it could be reflux but seems a bit concerned because he's not having all that much when he feeds and because of his weight loss. But on the plus side she said we may be able to get the enfamil formula on prescription!
But what I wanted to ask was, what exactly is reflux? How long does it last for?
I know PT and KG helped me out with a few queries but I'd just like to know the ins and outs IYKWIM.

The second thing is mastitis. I mentioned this morning about having a pain in my boob, well this afternoon I've started to feel all fluey. Achey and weak. Does this sound about right?

Oh and to top things off, dd knelt on Ellis' head earlier [insert sick emoticon]. So needless to say I'm a right state atm.
