We have quite a range of ages and they each develop at their own rates... so what can your toddler do?

Fab news Stormy. Thinking of you as you take your next steps towards...

FREEEDOMMMM!

(Said in excellent William Wallace style)

BigPigLittlePig · 01/03/2014 14:32

Woohoooooo! Nice work Isles. Shall put the fizzy Wine on ice!

It is quiet indeed.

Currently am semi-recumbant with a sleepy teething baby.

Dh and dsd have gone to do the weekly shop so am enjoying total silence, well, apart from gentle snores and chirping birds. Result!

ValiumQueen · 01/03/2014 14:33

Just sold my Bjorn bouncer for more than I paid for it Grin that will help pay for the extra nappies used this week.

Zamboni · 01/03/2014 14:43

Did anyone miss me?

Missed the last Fred due to being ridiculously busy. Work is manic (but fine). Away this weekend to cost DPs. I have read while S naps and caught up. Not going to manage an epic response to everything that has been said but you are all often in my thoughts for various reasons even if I don't manage to get those thoughts onto the thread at any time. So consider this a personal name check to you all. Grin

S still not sleeping well but we saw lovely paed consultant on Thursday about his fecking ongoing cough and I felt listened to and we have a sort of diagnosis and treatment plan. Also a clear chest x-Ray. It's some kind of wheezing infection which he will eventually grow out if but in the mean time we will be doing salt water nebulising which I need to learn about and how to do at an apt with the nurse but I am just so relieved that (a) he isn't seriously unwell (which I always thought but nice to have confirmation) and (b) I am not neurotic. Consultant was so nice. S was a superstar in the hospital and going for his x-Ray. So whoop for that!

S was born 02/11 at 39 weeks. He walked at 13 months. Very sturdy boy, he's 13kg/28lbs and 82.5cm tall. He is so happy. Loves cuddles and pages my glasses onto the top of my head, kisses me, then puts them back. Repeatedly. He can almost get himself naked. He's also had his first fisticuffs - someone at nursery bit him so he walloped them back. Oops.

He and DD are thick as thieves (21 months apart) and they belly laugh together loads. They play loads of games I don't quite understand. He loves cooking and helps cook everything. Likes "mixing". Understands a huge amount, follows instructions really well, like "please get me a towel" or "arms up". Drinks nicely from a beaker, uses a fork.

Doesn't have any real words yet. Mummum for me, da for daddy, Ta ( sort of) bah for everything else and very earnest babbling. Climbs really well, can do slide stairs and down by himself. He loves singing songs, makes noises in line with the tune and does some actions. He gets a book and reverses himself onto a lap when he wants a story. Can unlock DH's phone and put the music on for dancing. If anyone mentions raving he sticks his fingers in the air and starts bobbing up and down.

Favourite game is action-row your boat. He and I row the boat. We violently row by sitting opposite each other, holding hands. Gently rowing is not permitted. In our extra, made-up verse about "if you see a crocodile, don't forget to scream", DD plays the crocodile. When she appears, we scream. S then morphs into the crocodile hunter and chases DD away.

Trying to decide what to do this evening. At DPs, they have offered to babysit if we want to do something. I am feeling unenthusiastic. Kick me?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 01/03/2014 14:53

I did zamboni welcome back.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 01/03/2014 14:54

Go out to a cosy pub with fire, bottle of wine and gastro meal.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/03/2014 15:29

That's great news about his chest zamboni. And yes you were missed :)

We've been to one of my favourite local spots in Germany. Parked the car, took the girls on a ferry across the river and for a walk in the woods, back on the ferry and lunch in my favourite hidden restaurant. Another bout of mad running then drove to the outlet town up the road and replaced the pan that my hand held blender destroyed Angry - lesson learned.

Home now, both girls napped in the car but are over excited after being so good. Lovely day. Raining but still lovely.

Passmethecrisps · 01/03/2014 15:42

Sunny day + zoo + insisting on walking but only ever in the direction she wants to walk in p = absolutely knackered!!

MsJupiter · 01/03/2014 15:55

Love the raving Zamboni!

ValiumQueen · 01/03/2014 16:08

Welcome back Zamboni - we know you are a very busy lady. Great news about his chest, and also love the raving Grin

Pass, I bet it was lovely at BD, and not too busy I am guessing. I did not realise it was open for the season yet. I think I may put some of my pennies from sales towards a ticket or two.

ValiumQueen · 01/03/2014 16:09

PR naughty blender! We have a bamix (posh apparently).

ValiumQueen · 01/03/2014 16:09

Oh, and Zamboni, go to bed and sleep is what I would do Grin

ValiumQueen · 01/03/2014 16:12

Pass, you must mean the Zoo Zoo! Aah. BD not open yet. They have put the prices up this year too by the looks.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/03/2014 16:13

Mine was a cheapo supermarket thing - I didn't know that they wrecked pans Hmm

GTbaby · 01/03/2014 16:20

Arggggggg I did my Back in vacuuming this morning. Seriously world why r u so down on me. Why!

Passmethecrisps · 01/03/2014 16:22

Did mean the zoo. Bd opens in a month.

Sitting outside out house in the car. P is asleep and so is DH!!

fiatpandababba · 01/03/2014 16:36

Oh dear, bad timing with the cold Lilly311

very grumbly bumbly through the night, fed 3 times when we had just started to sleep through and up at 6am to start the day with result being he was crumbling on the carpet at 10am for a nap. We're all to pot.

StuntNun · 01/03/2014 17:14

Help! Does anyone have any tips for night weaning? I think J might be having a problem at nights as he doesn't know whether he will be fed or not (I only feed him after 4 a.m.) so I'm thinking about stopping night breastfeeds. I can't see how he can actually need them as he's on the 50th percentile. I didn't mind so long as it was only one feed a night but his sleep has gone to shit lately and something has to be done. I'm planning to completely wean him off breastmilk in two months anyway (hello eggs and peanuts) so night weaning now would probably help make weaning a little bit easier in May.

My day started badly, O woke and was in a horrible mood. Sick baby in a bad mood makes single parenting even harder. So my dad came for us, took us back to theirs, took me to swimming pool while O stayed with my mum. Than I managed another 2 hours baby free with a friend and got reunited at 5pm. It was a good day, I'm so glad my parents let me have 4 hours baby free, I am now recharged.

Hi there zamboni! And hope isles you enjoy your first night in.

Thechick · 01/03/2014 18:47

Evening everyone

Stunt we night weaned by dh going to him when he woke. First couple of weeks he rocked him to sleep, then the next couple shhh'd and patted and then he started sleeping through.

YellowWellies · 01/03/2014 18:49

Stunt when my sis night weaned her son it involved a bf at bed then her DH responding to night wakings with a tommee tippee of water. Wakings in the morning in daylight hours got a BF. It took four sometimes furious nights. He's an awesome sleeper now. Falls out of bed and doesn't wake up! His sleep turned out to be so shit due to comfort feeding from untreated undiagnosed CMPI.

Passmethecrisps · 01/03/2014 19:07

Sad I think p has a cold sore. Blasted things.

I also realised I didn't welcome back fiat. Lovely to see you!

I can't offer much help stunt other than saying it does sound like it will be a team effort.

How is O now lily? It is lovely that you got some time to yourself. It makes a real difference

Lily311 · 01/03/2014 19:22

O is slowly losing her voice and her snot turned green. She still has a chesty cough but no temperature. The humidifier makes a huge difference overnight.

BigPigLittlePig · 01/03/2014 20:05

Stunt I just decided I wasn't going to feed F until after 6am (she was 7mo). She was pretty cross for 2 nights, then by night 4 was sleeping til 7. Sadly the sleeping through bit hasn't lasted...now she'll only very occasionally have a few ozs when her reflux is bad.

Hiya Zamboni. Enjoy your night off, even if you do just sleep. Just!

Lily I'm glad you had a break. Makes all the difference.

Hope Chasing and Flouncy, hope you are both having a fab time.

Isles - hope today has gone well, start of exciting new times ahead Thanks

F has been an extra-velcroey velcro baby today. Even in the bath, she had to sit on my lap. I can only assume teeth. Have cracked out the ibuprofen for tonight, so fc she sleeps better.
