We have quite a range of ages and they each develop at their own rates... so what can your toddler do?

L managed to split my lip and make my gum bleed by whacking me in face with a drum

Sophia... Usually what you would like to do!!

YellowWellies · 28/02/2014 21:44

PR great news about Isles I did worry (stupidly!) that his attempted conjugal charm might have won her over and won him a roof over his head and continued fuckwittage at our lovely chum's expense. Good luck with the move Isles. Happy camping exMrIsles Grin

It is lovely reading how all the quichelings are doing and get a picture of them. They all sound adorable and have their own gorgeous personalities.

Here is our update:

L was born 26/10/12
First step 5/11/13 (a year after his due date)
Walked properly a month later so around 13.5mo
Climbs enthusiastically on furniture, parents and stairs
No words, lots of dat, dere, do, dah, uh (up) and his favourite 'dogo' (usually means "it's gone" i.e. someone has left the room or he's thrown his dummy/bowl/shoe away and is surprised it is no longer there)
Understands most of what I say, reacts to mention of toothbrush, snack, outside by going to appropriate place.
Follows instructions e.g. find the banana, cuddle Pongo (toy dog), get Mummy a different book as we've read Hairy Maclary 5 times now
Also disobeys instructions! - 'this way', 'don't pull the bin over' and the classic 'please don't grab Mummy's glasses and throw them on the floor'
Eats well, likes to use fork/spoon and hold bowl to make mealtimes last as long as possible.
Knows most body parts - head, eyes, nose, cheeks, ears, mouth, teeth, tummy, arms hands fingers legs knees feet toes! Mine & his seem interchangeable.
Waves bye-bye but only after someone has left...
Claps and stamps to If you're happy & you know it, does hands for Twinkle Twinkle and some actions in books.
Dances hilariously to any music, mostly consisting of bobbing up and down and swinging his arms back and forth.
Presses buttons repeatedly on musical toys to get to the song or tune he wants.
Makes sad noise and cuddles in when we get to sad bits of books (e.g. in Hug when Bobo can't find his Mummy Sad)
Plays kitchen - stirs pan, puts in oven, feeds me etc
Lots of 'transporting' - moving things around the house so we are in constant trail of saucepans, squeaky eggs, socks etc...
Loves animals, gets crazy excited about birds, dogs and cats, loves petting rabbits etc at farm.
Cuddles & 'burps' baby doll (since my DSis had her baby Smile)

Sorry that's very long - I am constantly amazed and delighted by him and it's been nice to think about all the things I notice each day and write them down. I must save this to a file as I have been crap at recording this stuff! My mum was a HV and our childhoods are recorded meticulously...

BigPigLittlePig · 28/02/2014 22:01

I have written a 2 sentence note in Fs 5 yr diary every day. Ilove seeing what she did a year ago today, each evening. It has been a great way of remembering all her little quirks, the sort that probably wouldn't have made it into your traditional baby book.

All these clever babies with body parts. Funny that the drs daughter gets stuck at anything more challenging than nose Grin

MsJupiter · 28/02/2014 23:10

How wonderful BP. I wish I had done that!

PetiteRaleuse · 28/02/2014 23:13

Lovely post Jupiter

Elizadoesdolittle · 28/02/2014 23:26

bplp what a fab thing to do. I keep looking at E and seeing her do things that remind me of DD1 as a baby. I have been crap at recording both of their childhoods, relying on my memory but that's rubbish!

MsJupiter · 28/02/2014 23:32

PetiteRaleuse · 28/02/2014 23:35

piggy that is also lovely. I have journals for my two - just exercise books - and write bits and pieces in them when the mood takes me. Stuff we/they have done, or snippets of family history. Every few weeks or even months, not every day.

fiatpandababba · 28/02/2014 23:36

Thank you everyone No, didn't have the pox added or anything to our injections. Baby seems fine. Just woke for a feed and change. Still the same 3 spots. They feel bumpy to the touch. I think it might just a be a bit of over washing in the bath? Fed nicely, rolled over went back to sleep. Phew! Not quite sure I was ready for chicken pox.

BigPigLittlePig · 01/03/2014 00:28

The lack of sleep in this house is SO FUCKING TEDIOUS Envy

Lily311 · 01/03/2014 05:13

Oh no bplp , hope the night got better.
fiat I had the mmr on tues too! she has no symptoms just yet although managed to catch a nasty cough at the same time.

The night has been good here, she is still asleep. Only coughed a couple of times. I'm debating whether to go and see my parents today or stay at home. We have a friend visiting tmrw from London, yey. Only a day trip for her to see us, she has other businesses in a different city in Hungary.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/03/2014 06:42

piggy sorry you had a bad night.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 01/03/2014 07:30

Sorry it was poo pig for once I was up too, he has woken every night with his cold this week, I water, medicate, turn on his singing blue bear thingy and back to bed to sleep. Last night he went back over but I didn't. Sad think I was up between 2 ish and 4 ish.

I am planning to plant sea thistle bulbs today and make curries.

ditsygal · 01/03/2014 08:55

Ok so I'm a bit late to the party here (dh was working at home yesterday so commandeered the laptop meaning no MN for me).
F was born on the 14th Nov, so right in the middle of the month. He can walk and run very confidently - he started at 10.5 months. He can follow lots of instructions, fetch books, certain toys (mickey mouse, iggle piggle etc) Go beep beep (his car), go bang bang (his drums). He can feed himself well but not with cutlery at all.
He can kiss and waves if you say bye bye or if anyone leaves. If you say we are going out he goes and opens the coat cupboard and gets his shoes.
He can open doors, he can climb on things (his toy box, the dining room table etc) he can go up and down stairsl. He knows things are hot and makes a blowing noise to tell you. He points at things he wantsc. He gives big hugs. He babbles but has no actual words. He can throw and occasionally catch a ball. He loves swings and slides. He gets his changing matt if you say he needs his bum changed, and lies down on it. He tries to put his socks on. He can point to his nose. He can stroke the cats gently - but prefers to grab their tales and give them big snogs. He can brush his hair and his teeth.
He can take his own top off (much to my annoyance when he does it 20 times a day)
He is very energetic and mischievous but also very loving and huggy.
Oh and he can grow teeth incredibly well - 16 so far! and he can also produce more snot then is humanly possible when he has a cold.

Elizadoesdolittle · 01/03/2014 08:55

Sorry bplp.

Not sure what to do today. More house things I expect. DD1 has her swimming lesson this afternoon. I finally have a working dishwasher, cooker and sky tv.

ValiumQueen · 01/03/2014 09:36

Morning all. Feeling very flat today. Kids had a good night but I did not. Dreaming they were ill so getting up to check them. Horrid. But we do have lumps Smile

MsJupiter · 01/03/2014 10:11

It is so annoying when your baby has a good night but you cannot sleep!

Lumps?

Sophiathesnowfairy · 01/03/2014 11:08

Lumpsucker.

ValiumQueen · 01/03/2014 11:27

Lumps as in no more diarrhoea Grin.

StormyIsles · 01/03/2014 12:08

Hi all. I am okay. Not had a chance to read yet but have a spike of mobile signal. Will be at my mums with broadband tonight.

Picking up the keys in an hour. Another hour to finish packing and then hopefully moving for good! Smile
