We have quite a range of ages and they each develop at their own rates... so what can your toddler do?

Fab day, even allowing for cling-on baby. the sun definitely helps!

Glad you had fun Zamboni and evil - sorry I wasn't able to join you. Hope your boys sleep well tonight.

Have just a constant knot of anxiety in my belly atm, dhs job is up for review this week and he may lose it. Equally he may not, but I am a worrier.

GTbaby · 09/03/2014 21:03

I'm being punished. Punished for looking forward to this evening. A will not go to sleep. Thought I lucked out when A fell asleep at 7 and put him in his cot. Result I thought. Amazing.
Confused
This too shall pass.

BigPigLittlePig · 09/03/2014 21:04

No idea how that posted itself twice Blush

FatimaLovesBread · 09/03/2014 21:13

Evening all

Monday at work has come around quick again, thank god I've got next week off.

Just wanted to pick your brains over a car buying issue we've had to see if anyone thinks it's worth doing anything. It's a long one so feel free to skip.

Last Saturday we went to look at cars and ended up buying one, well paying the deposit as the car needed to be shipped from another branch. The sales guy tried to sell us all the extras as normal. My issue is with the extended warranty.
The car has the remains of its manufacturers warranty, so 2.5yrs, they were selling another year. I said no. He then kept going on about the advantages of it, I hate that bit as DH just sits there and I feel like all the pressure is on me. I said no again but felt quite pressured. He said some more bits and we ended up saying yes.
The reasons we said yes were that he said the first MOT is included which we'd have to pay for anyway, and as we'd probably keep the car for 4 years, with the extended warranty the car would be covered for 3.5yrs so the bulk of the time that we'd have it.

During the week I still felt a bit uneasy about it so did some reading on extended warranties, what's worth it and what isn't. I figured we'd be able to discuss it again when we went to see the car on Friday.

Friday we get there and the appointment is with a different sales guy, we're taken straight to an office to basically sign, pay and take the keys. Felt very rushed along and we left with the car and a pile of paper work. The extended warranty was never mentioned. I know I should have bloody checked.

Got home and I realised that they never showed us any paperwork for the warranty so I've looked through the pile of stuff we've got.
In there is a booklet about the warranty with a sheet of paper that's a summary of cover with a section to sign to say we've read the T&Cs and agree to it. This was never shown to us. The cover is also a lot lower amount than the one's I'd been researching online so not really worth it. There's also no mention in the booklet about the first MOT being included.

So I'm pissed off, with them for not showing us any of the T&Cs or cover beforehand and with myself for not bloody asking about it on Friday.

But do you think there's anyway I can raise a complaint to say I don't want it? We've paid for it but we haven't actually signed to say we want it. They also sold us some paint protection stuff (actually for free) which we had to sign some T&Cs for to say we understood and were happy with that but the warranty was never mentioned.
And it doesn't even seem to include what they sales guy sold to us.

Grr I'm more pissed off with myself for allowing us to be talked in to something I didn't want Angry

Passmethecrisps · 09/03/2014 21:26

fatima that all sounds incredibly familiar to something which happened to me some years ago. Total miss-selling and sharp-practice.

Two things spring to mind here. You haven't actually signed for anything so I would reckon that you have a strong case for a full refund.

Also, don't you have a 14 day cooling off period?

An MOT can only cost a maximum of £54.85 for the test fee by law so selling you a warranty on that basis is complete bullshit.

Go back in calmly and explain that you hadn't intended taking the extended warranty, haven't signed for it therefore expect a refund. Then smile and wait.

ValiumQueen · 09/03/2014 21:39

Welcome back Lisa Smile

Pass, the bloody mice are still stuck in the mould as they are runny. They will take weeks to harden I fear. Bloody recipe. I wanted to make 6, the recipe looked like too much for six so I halved it. Still had twice as much as I needed. Still, at least it means I haven't eaten them all yet.

Nightmare bedtime due to snot. Plus the girls are sharing so that was a bit of a nightmare too with DD2 playing up. I am drinking pear cider and wishing I was off tomorrow.

Passmethecrisps · 09/03/2014 21:44

We could all skive?

ChasingDaisy · 09/03/2014 21:47

Fatima if you want to know your rights, it might be worth contacting Consumer Direct - you can google their number - they will tell you where you stand I used to work for them actually, but this wasn't my area of expertise

BigPigLittlePig · 09/03/2014 21:50

I'd be well up for a skive. I know tomorrow is going to be mental, we sent loads of patients home on Friday so no doubt the beds will be full of newbies.

Fatima, if you haven't signed for it then surely they will have to refund you? V annoying though.

FatimaLovesBread · 09/03/2014 21:53

Trouble is Pass it's an hours drive away so can't really just rock up, although we're supposed to be going up to get the private plates (I know, a MN evil) put on when the log books come through so could do it then.

Thanks chasing will google them and give them a ring tomorrow.

The thing with the MOT was that I know it's only £50, but we sort of saw it as £50 off what the warranty was costing us as we'd be paying that anyway, so the warranty would then be £150 rather than say £200. One of the reasons I justified the extra cost to myself.

I'm also pissed off as we had to pay a fee for the HPI check and valet and they haven't even given us the HPI report in with the paperwork Angry

I've sent an after sales query online, will see what their reply is.

Passmethecrisps · 09/03/2014 21:54

Mass quiche skive. We could all hang round the swings smoking tabs and looking sullen

FatimaLovesBread · 09/03/2014 21:55

X-post BPLP. I hope so. I suppose I'm looking for an out as I'm not happy with the cover and as a bonus there's the unsigned T&Cs. But if they'd have shown them us on Friday I'd have said no anyway as the claim limit is too low

StuntNun · 09/03/2014 21:56

Operation follow on milk is in action. I have never even bought the stuff before, DS1 and DS2 went straight on to cows milk without any issues. We shall see whether the 3-4 a.m. Calpoling is required tonight. DH is away to China tomorrow so I'll have to do the next few nights on my own. It would be lovely to get a night of unbroken sleep again and might stop me getting shouting when DS1 plays up next week.

OP posts:
PetiteRaleuse · 09/03/2014 22:06

I know there is a lot on MN about follow on milk being a marketing scam but I have mentioned before that over here children don't go on to cows milk until their digestive systems are more fully formed at 3. It may or may not be the solution to the problem but it's worth a go. It's certainly easier to digest for them. Fx you get a better night's sleep.

You mention he needs calpol during the night. Teething pain seems to be worse at night could you try giving him a pre-emptive dose at bed time if you aren't already doing it to see if he gets rest for longer?

Elizadoesdolittle · 09/03/2014 22:28

Lovely to see everyone's photos of quiche babies enjoying the great outdoors. Had another lovely sunny day and pretty much spent the whole time between 10-5 outdoors. Didn't make it to a garden center so that's on the to do list for tomorrow.

I am really starting to wish E would just hurry up and walk now. Would be so much easier when outside. She does want to walk but only holding on to my hands. She stands by herself but instead of trying to walk she'll just sit down and start crawling or just shout until someone comes and takes her hand. Lazy mare.

TheDetective · 09/03/2014 22:54

Fatima I know we got our cars from the same place (not sure if the same branch though?). I didn't have ANY of that hassle, no hard sell or anything.

I just said no, and that was that.

Aftersales wise, they have been good. My service book wasn't stamped, and a quick phone call later, and it has been sorted. I had a couple of other questions too which they answered with no problem.

I was impressed to be honest, so hopefully they will sort out the issues, and that will be that. You shouldn't have to pay for anything you don't want!

As I said, I took the gap cover, as I have with every car I've financed, which worked out well for me, given I wrote one off after 5 weeks of ownership! But extended warantees and the like, I don't see much point in. But that is just me.

YellowWellies · 09/03/2014 23:05

DH and I have just been bawling our eyes out at the finale of One Day.

ChasingDaisy · 09/03/2014 23:23

Me too YW. I knew it would be a bad idea to watch it alone. I actually sobbed pretty much the whole way through Hmm

TheDetective · 09/03/2014 23:50

Since I missed the start of the fred, I will post now about what Oscar can do. I get a little wibbly over it, so I need a reminder!

Words - Hiya. And as of today what sounds like two! Well, he definitely knows what comes after one anyway! Grin There are lots of babble noises. Some sounds which might be him trying out words. But the only consistent ones are the above!

Understanding - he understands clap hands, wave bye bye, let mummy in (the stair gate), stamp your feet, hi-fives on command, I think he might understand turn around - that is a work in progress! DS1 has been trying to work out if he knows colours and shapes. We think he knows green circle, and red square from the shape sorter. That isn't a definite though, as he was a bit over excited as he loves the shape sorter SOOOOOOOOOOO bad Grin.

His understanding isn't so good, he doesn't know body parts, nor can he follow instructions like the other quiche babies such as getting coats, shoes, nappies etc!

I think he can make his wants known though.

He can do the shape sorter, he has a wooden one with 8 shapes. He does it about 50 times a day. It's his favourite toy!

Stacking cups, rings, and blocks he isn't interested in them for the traditional playing methods Grin. He puts the cups inside each other, rather than stacking. Rings are used for throwing, particularly on wooden floors for the noise! Blocks, we haven't tried building towers. I will try that.

We haven't done any art work yet either. I don't like the mess. I will make an effort though, as he doesn't go to nursery. So we should do it here.

Feeding wise, he makes good attempts with the spoon, but I prefer to feed him, but he can't load it unless it's very thick like weetabix.

Walking wise, he walks and runs, 9 months for first step, 10 months to be walking with confidence. Running at 10 months too. He can do forwards rolls, he doesn't do them often, but he did the first one a couple of months ago. He's not a massive climber. Thank fuck. Which surprises me! He climbs on the sofa, and occasionally tries to make it on to the window ledge at the back of the sofa. He can climb, he just prefers to create his mischief at ground level!

He likes to dance, particularly to ITNG. He does the makka pakka dance, and the dance at the end. He's quite good at them actually! He twirls and everything Grin. He is trying to jump. He crouches down and pings back up, but can't quite get the feet off the ground at the same time!

He climbs up the stairs, not walking up yet, but he can do steps walking now, our stairs are quite steep. He slides back down on his belly, and has figured out he can go at real speed and takes the full run like a bobsledder! He loves to go down them!

Ooooh! I just remembered, one thing he does understand. NO! He opens the drawers in the living room, and I say NO OSCAR. He shuts the drawer, and I say good boy Oscar, and he grins and claps himself. Then opens the drawer again. I now don't praise him for closing it the second and third, fourth, fifth... time, so he praises himself and claps himself again Grin Grin Grin. This really makes me chuckle! Little bugger!

So, I now feel better. I do worry about his understanding, but clearly he has some. So there. It's okay! :)

TheDetective · 09/03/2014 23:52

Oooops. He can do the wheels on the bus 'round and round' actions too. I always forget stuff. I am going to C&P this for reference. :)

FatimaLovesBread · 10/03/2014 00:36

Arghhh M seems to have lost the ability to sleep at night. She went to bed ok at 7:30 but woke at 11 and has been screaming and refusing to sleep since.
Similar story the last few nights.

I'm exhausted, I think the baby is broken

GTbaby · 10/03/2014 00:48

When does ITNG come on? I feel like H us missing out lol

TheDetective · 10/03/2014 01:01

It's on at 6.20 I think, but generally we record it off in demand, or we watch one of the many recorded episodes we have. Or the DVD my mum bought him Blush.

He luuuuuuuuuuuuuurves it! I don't mind, I get a cuddle out of the deal! And I watch with him. So it's okay, right?! Grin

I think you can get refunds on broken babies Fatima. You just have to find the receipt.
