We have quite a range of ages and they each develop at their own rates... so what can your toddler do?

Passmethecrisps · 09/03/2014 09:14

Coffee on here as well. Nothing achieved as yet other than drinking it and watching country file. Tried p with cow's milk this morning and she gagged. Have her it 2oz formula and 1oz CM and she was fine with that. In laws are coming to visit later so should get on really

TheDetective · 09/03/2014 09:33

It's a beautiful day for a birthday. DS1 has had every type of weather on his birthday now! On his 4th birthday it had snowed Hmm.

Currently dying of dance ache on the sofa wondering g how acceptable it would be to have a granny nap?!

Hi Quiche!! Grin My manic week is coming to an end and I have a few days off now! Will be a better poster now!

StuntNun · 09/03/2014 09:33

J has been sleeping better phew and is back to fewer than five wakenings a night. However every night between 3 and 4 he is inconsolable and needs Calpol to get back to sleep. What are the chances of this being related to his bedtime bottle - 9oz of whole milk? I'm wondering whether to get some formula milk for bedtime instead. He's never had any problems with yoghurt or cheese but he has been having cows milk more often lately in preparation for weaning him off breastmilk.

Do you dilute it Stunt? I know other friends have reported whole milk as being too rich at bedtime so put in a couple of oz of (hot) water or so. But also have a friend who gave follow on milk for the same reason - it depends on the child I guess.

L has a bigger bottle earlier and then just a few diluted oz at bedtime. But he did go through a period of 2 weeks or so recently where he was waking for 2+ hrs each night, which thankfully seems to have passed.

Morning thread

PR it seems you've sent the sun you had the other day my way Grin
It's lovely weather here today

Managed to get the leak fixed on Friday, luckily it was just a broken washer. We'd caught it as soon as it started dripping through the ceiling and managed to stem the flow upstairs with lots of towels. Ended up costing £20 in the end and hopefully the bit of damp plaster should dry out. So much better than expected

We picked up the new car Friday night! Love it.

Think we're going to go to a big park today, let M burn some energy as she's shouting and excitable today. Currently sitting on DH's foot shouting "horsey! Horsey!"

GTbaby · 09/03/2014 11:55

As if I could get a cup of tea without the kids yapping at me. H woke as soon as I got out of bed. Normally I leave him half hour to play. But he was late waking so it would have a knock on effect on lunch and nap and bed time. And as ill have the house to myself tonight I want him in bed ON TIME.

Yeppie.

ValiumQueen · 09/03/2014 14:03

Stunt I think it is worth trying follow on milk. It is also a big bottle to be having at bedtime. I thought you were still bf, so hadn't thought about the milk as a possible cause.

Most of DD2s furniture has gone today so operation redecoration has begun. She chose the paint, and after initially going for plum/black, she has compromised on a lovely shade of pink.

I went to finish off trimming Js hair. Instead of the big corded clippers, I used DHs beard trimmer as it is cordless. Set it on the longest setting, and the poor little boy is almost back to the wood again. Being a beard trimmer, you hold it up the opposite way as clippers. I did not know this, and DH did not tell me. Blush At least it will not need doing again for a long time.

ValiumQueen · 09/03/2014 14:04

I have also learned that when trying clippers, test on an inconspicuous area at the back. He had a reverse Mohican. Like the parting of the Red Sea.

BigPigLittlePig · 09/03/2014 14:32

Grin Proper made me chuckle did that, VQ.

I have a not very happy little girl today. Hot as a hot thing, only wants mummy/milk/cuddles, and is currently crashed out next to me on the bed. 'Spect it's teeth, again.

I was on the receiving end of a random act of kindness today - a neighbour who I haven't seen or spoken to before, brought over a toy wheelbarrow and lawn mower for F. In return she was showered with adoring licks from L-dog Grin whilst F pottered around with her barrow. Gramps (a gardener) will be proud.

ValiumQueen · 09/03/2014 15:07

That was nice of your neighbour BP Smile

J is also a hot thing. I also suspect teeth. At least he has a cool head eh? Wink

ValiumQueen · 09/03/2014 15:09

I have just made some sugar mice. I only had blue colouring. They do not look very appealing. I have always wanted to make sugar mice. They even have tails.

Pikz · 09/03/2014 15:49

VQ Grin

I also have a struggling little boy, up in the night but will only sleep if touching me. Mumeeee mummeeee mumeeee today x

ChasingDaisy · 09/03/2014 16:08

I'm far too excitable today and I have no idea why. It's the weather I think. I've got all the windows in the flat open for the first time and I'm feeling very happy today Smile XP has taken O to the forest today and by all accounts he's had a lovely time. He loves being outside which is great.

YellowWellies · 09/03/2014 16:40

Are we at peak separation anxiety at the mo? J is hysterical when people he loves leave the house. He had a meltdown at DH and my sister leaving. I'd popped him on the lounge windowsill to wave goodbye and instead he just bawled! He also has to be in the same room as me and preferably touching.... nursery drop off tomorrow is going to be fun Sad

ChasingDaisy · 09/03/2014 16:46

O has a tantrum every time XP, my dad or I leave the flat. Only lasts a few minutes though.

PetiteRaleuse · 09/03/2014 16:51

Lovely day here - went up to 20 degrees. We drove to a farm park in northern Lux. Was nice. Mood improved :)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/03/2014 17:01

Everyone and the weather. Is 8 degrees here, chilly And drizzly. Mountains shrouded in cloud. A very dull day. We have just been out for a walk and become disproportionately wet. Warm milk/coffee and pyjamas upon return.

PetiteRaleuse · 09/03/2014 17:05

Me and DD1 are actually a tiny bit sunburnt!!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/03/2014 18:41

Ohh bugger orf Wink

And I have just done the shred with added toddler!

Sophiathesnowfairy · 09/03/2014 18:44

Anyway, I wondered, this morning, as I read MNers being quoted in the Daily Mail (not my usual pick you understand, just all that wAs left in the place we go to for breaky and I have to read some thing) about whether or not Kate and Wills should have A holiday alone, how many people make controversial comments just desperate to be picked up by DM journalists?
