We needed a new thread!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 31/03/2014 22:54

WillYou it cost us nearly £40! Add that to the £25 petrol and Burger King it was an expensive day out...

halestone · 31/03/2014 22:56

Nutella, H was the biggest wriggler ever and was a girl so maybe you have got a pink one.

Utopian, i really feel for you morning sickness is truly horrible although like WL's friend i had hyperemesis for the entire pregnancy and actually lost weight. We joke that i need a phantom pregnancy now so that i can lose weight again.

Pidj sorry about your car but i'm glad that no-one was hurt.

H is still not well and these antibiotics don't seem to be helping just yet well other than to give her diarrhoea. I'm not sure hows shes got diarrhoea as she now hasn't eaten since last Wednesday, she is still drinking her milk though. Her temperature is up and down and her breathing is still fast and she sounds like she has a static tv screen going on inside her chest after every breath. But in typical H style she just wants to play and if she can't run round herself she gets into someones arms and demands that they walk around the house. Sleeping is hardly existent and comes in shorts bursts which is woken by a cough or a deep breath and is then followed by alot of moving around. I am so so tired so she must be exhausted.

PurplePidjin · 31/03/2014 23:17

R was a wriggler and definitely male Hmm

ddas · 01/04/2014 06:14

Ds wiggled more than dd but it's fun guessing. I was convinced dd was going to be a boy- bit of a shock to see a girl!!

hales unfortunately one of the side effects of the antibiotics themselves is diarrhea. If no improvement just take her back to the gp- may be that it's viral so will just run it's course, may be that needs different antibiotics or may be an non-infective picture. Good sign that she wants to play though!!

We ended up on the other side as dd has had a fever for over 9 days- she's still unwell and woke up an hr ago with 39.4 so she's not a happy bunny!

halestone · 01/04/2014 12:36

Ddas i hope your DD is feeling better soon.

I rang 111 for advice last night about H's breathing and ended up with an Ambulance at our front door, despite me telling them that it was a massive waste of resources and that she definitely did not need an ambulance. Anyway they took her back to A+E due to her sats being 93, it was a big waste of time as the dr didn't listen to a thing i said and they sent us home which i was glad of. He said shes got bronchitis and would get worse before she got better, so i'm not looking forward to that. Her breathing is still horendous and nothing i am doing is helping.

MrsNutella · 01/04/2014 14:12

hales poor H! And poor you being carted off to A&E. Did they give H a nebuliser or any steroids? I hope she gets better soon!

The advice we've been given - if DS has an attack of croup is to take him outside, for cold fresh air, or into a very steamy bathroom. We also have special suppositories for when it is a proper attack. But generally if he sounds really tight and wheezy in the evening I give him a shot of his normal salbutamol (sp?) inhaler thing.
Hmmmm.... Other ideas... Wet towel over the radiator.... This is a weird one but we have some balm that is like a much more mild form of Vicks and we rub that onto the bottoms of DS's feet when he has a cold. Helps a lot, although I have no idea why it should. I've seen the same tip here elsewhere on MN.

Sorry, you didn't really ask for advice. Bbt I hope she starts to improve soon.

PurplePidjin · 01/04/2014 14:52

I've just baked R some cakes (honey and date, no sugar) and he was getting grumpy. Rejected a rice cake but pointing at the oven. I took them out once cooked, broke one open to cool, was blowing etc but he was still asking. So i gave him a bit to hold (not burning hot but too hot to eat) he handed it back and pointed at the fridge Shock

clever little rascal Grin

PurplePidjin · 01/04/2014 17:07

Oh and despite no animal noises to date Dinosaurs Say Raah according to R Grin

Barbeasty · 01/04/2014 18:12

Pidj too much Peppa?! It's amazing when they know what they want.

I had a phone call today from the person who hadn't contacted me about not getting the job. They apologised and asked if I'd be interested in a sideways move instead, but with the pay rise I asked for! It will have to go through various HR hoops but could be a very good move.

I have a thumping headache. I think it's the new glasses- today was my first day with them in the office, in front of the computer for most of it.

Yay beasty! That's great news.
hales how awful for you both. Poor little mite, I really hope she's better soon.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 01/04/2014 20:39

Oh Hales poor you and poor Heidi. I hope she feels better soon. I have the same thing and went and got antibs today after struggling on for a week.

Yay Beasty that's great news. Hope it all goes well.

utopian99 · 01/04/2014 21:37

Oh hales I am thinking of you and crossing everythinggfor poor H to improve soon. It's a bugger being hauled off by ambulance but I suppose 111 prefer better safe than sorry.

And hurrah beasty for the job/pay rise!

Dh has worked out he won't qualify for pat leave this time, due to when he changed jobs, but the pay is so pitiful it won't be the end of the world and he'll hopefullybe to get unpaid leave..

In other news - we got our first sign at last! Aeroplane - v useful Hmm We do live near Heathrow so he sees a lot of them!

MrsNutella · 01/04/2014 22:05

Utopian I love signing it is so cute. DS's favourite sign is food. He takes his dummy out and does the sign with his free hand while going "ooh ooh". He also has a sign for water but mostly when we're out he points at the pocket where I always stick his water bottle.
Oh and he likes to sign to me to open things - usually the tube of bum cream I have given him to play with while I'm changing him Hmm.

And the last few days DS has started to really love to see the emergency vehicles. We have a fire station and hospital further up the road from here so we see and hear plenty going past. When he hears one he goes running to his window and demands to be lifted up. Then he stands there pointing at all the other cars going last while he says "brrr brrrr". He is a very cute and a very demanding little man.

PurplePidjin · 01/04/2014 22:07

Nina and the Neurons/Andy's Dinosaur Adventure keeps him quiet at tea time :o

WLmum · 01/04/2014 22:23

Ts fave word is 'up' and she does a few animal noises - piggy snort, moo, meow, woof and screams and roars in the right places when we are row rowing our boat.

Barbeasty · 02/04/2014 08:27

I like those Pidj (although I haven't seen the dinosaur one, just the zoo animals one) but DD always wants Peppa or Ben & Holly.

Hales hope things are better now. Watch out for the reported dust & polution, I doubt they'll make H's breathing any better.

A says cack cack when he sees a picture of a duck. No other animal noises.

Awful night with both DC. I'm exhausted. Best thing about the new job would be not getting up quite so early!!!

2blessed · 02/04/2014 13:34

Sorry to hear about your DH and pat leave utopian.

Hope Heidi is feeling better Hales

My DS loves animal sounds too - moo, baa and roar. We sign as well. His most used sign is the one for more. Like his food and drink does my DS!

Feeling really tired even though he slept through the night in his own bed!

WLmum · 02/04/2014 21:11

Oh crap I just remembered I need to prep the Easter crafts for playgroup tomorrow.

WLmum · 02/04/2014 22:32

I need to fast for a week - the last 2 days have been a total pig out. I feel gross. I'm guessing af may be on her way - boo. I'm all done with babies, can't I be done with af too now?

SpottyTeacakes · 03/04/2014 06:49

WL I have had a period for ages on the depo injection. Obviously I know you can't have it whilst bf but maybe once you've stopped you can find something that will stop them

WillYouDoTheFandango · 03/04/2014 16:47

The mini pill does that to me (eventually). I now have one day spotting every four weeks.

SpottyTeacakes · 03/04/2014 17:32

Both dc were so good having their injections. Ds didn't make a sound and dd had a little cry for a few seconds before being fine againSmile

MrsNutella · 03/04/2014 19:04

Noooooo I gained at least a stone with the depo injection, when the nurse weighed me and pointed out e weight gain she also then helpfully told me that the progesterone pumped into your system can increase your appetite and especially for sweet things Hmm
The mini pill turned me into an emotional wreck.... When I went back to the dr about that one it was "yeah, some people find it makes them a bit nutty" .... Grrrreeeeat.
I don't think my body likes hormonal contraception.... I was testing that theory out and errr we have DS so I'm really not a good person to ask Grin

Other than me whinging about my hormonal sensitivities I'm well, but tired and stressed. I hate moving. DS is picking up ever more noises at the moment. My mum is stressing me out, although I know I will miss her when she leaves next week. Confused

Barbeasty · 03/04/2014 19:48

Spotty I missed that, what injections did they have?

I'm wondering whether the recent lack of sleep is a leap in talking. Today in the space of half an hour we go digger, yes (very condescendingly! ), bye bye and truck.

Although last night was good. Just waking at 1 and 3 am.

WLmum hope playgroup was good.

We made lovely easter cards this week. They stuck a big egg shape on a card, then in the same colour paper drew round and cut out their hands. These were stuck on as wings. Then they added a beak and eyes to make a chick.
