Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 28/03/2014 16:53

All done. Went well. Ds was hysterical afterwards but calmed down just in time before the morphine came out.... Just waiting to be released now Wink

Stacks · 28/03/2014 17:26

Spotty, glad things went well for DS. Hope you get home soon.

I feel like an awful mum. I know we're very lucky,, but today was DS first time with real sick. Went up to him after his nap and he had a handful of sick :( It was all over his hands and face and in his hair, and I was desperately trying not to react to the "don't touch me!" thoughts going through my head. I find sick awful to deal with, and always have. I think I managed ok all in all, stripped him and dressed him, then took hims down to play in the sink to get it all off his hands, face and hair. He still smells sicky, but I've managed to hold the clingy boy. There's sick hand prints on my jumper though.

What do you do with a sick toddler? Do you feed them?

MrsNutella · 28/03/2014 18:29

stacks the advice I was given by the fantastic dr we saw in the USA when DS was sick ( a lot) was that with small kids as soon as they will eat let them eat, whatever it is doesn't matter. Fluids are important - obviously- but if they want to eat it probably means they should.

spotty glad the op is over. That must be a relief. Hope DS is doing well

coffee we have rushed DS to A&E three times I think with a croup type cough. It is normally the start of a viral infection and it his horrible and truly frightening every time :( I feel your pain!

It is lovely having my mum here but it is making DS a little unsettled. Perhaps he is worried she will run off with him? My mum has a habit of only half listening to something I say and so her answers can be infuriatingly irrelevant and it makes you realise she didn't listen -arrrggghhhhh - she is here for two weeks and us supposed of I be helping.... I'm still a bit ill and not sleeping terribly well, which does not help. Hopefully I'll actually get to bed early tonight and things will be a little more relaxed tomorrow.

Hmm
PurplePidjin · 28/03/2014 18:36

Another vote for menu 1 :)

Yay, Spotty :o hope you're home soon

SpottyTeacakes · 28/03/2014 19:23

Poor you coffee that must have been so scary for you all.

Stacks I tend to try with toast first and if that stays down anything goes.

Finally home phew!

WLmum · 28/03/2014 19:36

Phew spotty. Glad all went well, hope he's ok. I'd go for menu 2 but both look great - torture on a fast day but then I have cheated quite a bit and am seriously considering wine.

halestone · 28/03/2014 21:20

Spotty yay to DS's op going well i hope he and you are ok.

Coffee i hope your all ok, it sounds horrible for you all. I hope DS is better quickly.

Stacks someone on this page i think its WL said to offer a syringe of water little and often and see when they if they tolerate it and at least that way you now that they are getting something.

Nutella i feel your pain i live with my dad and its hard work sometimes.

WLmum · 28/03/2014 21:42

Yes stacks/hales it was me with the syringe - it makes it easy to see how much has gone in and I was told by a hospital dr when dd2 was quite badly dehydrated that the stomach becomes like a dry sponge - poor water on it and it just runs off (sick reaction) but drip it on and it becomes saturated. Wrt food - brat (bananas, rice, apples, toast) is recommended - but I tend to go with a little of whatever they fancy for a couple of days. Hope he feels better soon. DH does all the gross smelly jobs but is not great with poo/sick so that's usually my job. Luckily I'd take bodily fluids over bin rot any day!

Barbeasty · 28/03/2014 22:10

I breast feed when A's been sick, but obviously depends in whether you still are!

MIL has just left. I may have had more of the bottle of wine than she did, but in my defence it was nice wine.

And the Waitrose delivery was 40 minutes after the end of the slot, and without complaint DH was offered the choice of a bottle of wine or some chocolates to say sorry. Can't complain with that although I find the fact they had them already on the van makes me very suspicious!

WLmum · 28/03/2014 22:33

Ha beasty. Yes I bf too and the other day after T had been sick she was after a boob almost immediately - I'd taken my sicky top off and she was on it! But then she's still such a ridiculous boob monster.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/03/2014 06:01

Ds woke at 12 and has been up since 5. He's not very happy. Waiting for the calpol to kick in. The hospital helpfully told us that he needs to see a practice nurse on Monday Hmm I phoned the drs immediately and thankfully they squeezed us in at 12 even though they're fully booked. The wound is so neat, not even covered, and closed with glue.

Maryland2013 · 29/03/2014 07:21

Hope all is well Spotty

I would also vote menu 1 :)

Maryland2013 · 29/03/2014 07:23

Oh and have you managed to escape the Hungry Horse dinner ?!

SpottyTeacakes · 29/03/2014 07:46

Yes Grin dp told them that we can't do it. Ds can't even wear trousers for a few days anyway so it wouldn't be fair.

Dp and I had chosen menu 1 with dessert from menu 2 so I'm glad most of you agreed!

WLmum · 29/03/2014 09:04

Hope he's not suffering too much spotty
Both menus looked delish.

WLmum · 29/03/2014 20:55

Wot no updates?! Hope everyone has been enjoying the glorious sunshine.

MrsNutella · 29/03/2014 21:13

Yup Grin

utopian99 · 29/03/2014 21:27

Ditto.

SpottyTeacakes · 29/03/2014 21:47

We've been at a&e Hmm everything's fine but ds had a temp so after finding out ooh couldn't see us until 10:10 tonight (this was at 4:45 this afternoon) and speaking to Southampton we had to go to a&e to get him checked. Dr was lovely and said a temp is normal although we weren't told this. Come home and dd has a fever. Sigh.

WLmum · 29/03/2014 22:12

Boo to that spotty although glad it's nothing serious. Poor little fella.

halestone · 29/03/2014 23:43

Spotty I hope Dd is ok and I'm glad that DS is ok.

I've been to work and come home to a poorly H again who has apparently been crying for me. She felt really hot so I have stripped her off and finally got her settled. Although she is on an angle so that her coughing doesn't wake her. Her chest sounds rattly again. She just seems to be getting cold after cold at the moment. I'm sat up just watching her and listening to her breathing.

Stacks · 30/03/2014 07:22

Morning. We had a miserable, cold, grey and overcast day yesterday, so I hope you all appreciated your sunshine! DS seems much better, he was only sick the once in the end, and seemed to be fine the rest of the evening and yesterday. He's not eating much, but he is eating, so I guess he's still feeling a little off.

DH promised me a lay in and pancakes in bed for Mother's Day. However DS woke at 6:30, I looked at the time on my phone, thought 6:30 is reasonable, and got him up. Came through to give him to DH and saw the bedroom clock says 5:30. Oops. DH has now downgraded my lay in to 30 mins and my breakfast to weetabix! I think it's probably better this way at getting DS onto the new time, but DH is not a morning person, so is complaining lots.

How's DS and DD today spotty? Hopefully DS just has the temp from the op, and not whatever DD has.

Hope H is better soon hales. Did you get much sleep last night?

utopian99 · 30/03/2014 07:49

Ooh, stacks do the clocks change today? My phone thinks its 7.48 now, is that right? (Was thinking O had given me the lie in of his life, but maybe only till 6.30 in 'real time'! (Still better than I normally get though..)

Barbeasty · 30/03/2014 08:45

Yes they changed. Which I realised as I was still out with my NOT group at 00.30 old time! It was a good evening though.

I got a cup of tea in bed, then had to rush around getting the DC up in an hour less than usual. They've all just left and I've got a couple of hours peace until MIL and A are back. No relaxing though- I'm cooking lunch for the 3 of us and have to make some cookies for a cake sale at work next week, raising money for the hospice where my boss's daughter died the other week.

Then swimming. So all go. And I've had less than 6 hrs sleep with a couple of wakings.

Hope both DC get better quickly Spotty, and baby Hales.

SpottyTeacakes · 30/03/2014 08:49

We've all only just woken up Shock so even without the clocks changing it was gone 7:30.

Dd's been boiling all night. Ds is ok. The dr wants him having regular calpol and neurofen for four days the calpol for a week. Better than the hospital told us of play it by ear after 24 hours Hmm
